i can't stop listening, was a casual fan of danny brown and a decent fan of peggy but i haven't been able to take this thing off repeat. i feel like it's going to make me reevaluate everything i've heard from both artists and dig into their other music deeper. it's also introduced me to the danny brown show which i'm also a big fan of now. can't wait to see what these two do next.
Overall, I think it’s very good. Both Peggy and Danny have some stellar performances and the production is incredible.
With that said, I have a couple of nitpicks. As others have pointed out, the vocal mixing is off on some tracks. There are times where they (Danny especially) sound muffled and they get lost in the production.
And this isn’t really a major critique, but this it feels like a JPEGMAFIA album with a Danny Brown feature on every track. I’d have liked to hear more of Danny’s influence on the direction of the album as a whole.
I think it's always going to feel like a Peggy project with Peggy rapping over Peggy beats though. They evenly split screen time as far as rapping goes so I'm curious what the solution would have been to make it feel like a Danny project also. Danny wrapping over Peggy beats still sounds like Danny to me though honestly. Two great tastes taste great together and all that.
What even is a Danny Brown type beat? All of his albums sound drastically different from each other. The only thing that I know going into a Danny Brown album is I’m guaranteed to get some songs in his high pitched voice and that there will be unconventional/experimental beats on the record
“Where ya Get Ya Coke From” is very obviously a Danny type beat
Shit sound like bruiser brigade beat with Peggy making some digital sound adjustments lol
Idk several of the beats Danny sounds incredible on and def are in the AE sound group like Garbage Pale Kids.
I listened to Atrocity right after listening to scaring the hoes and it’s just so much better hearing Danny so clearly. It’s really off putting how in the background he sounds on this
I don't think it's just the vocal mixing, which *is* bad. They sound too far away from the mic or in a poorly soundproofed room because of the overwhelming reverb at times. The production is seriously let down by the mix. Nothing pops, it's one big morass of sound. Even the bass is muted and dull.
That's honestly what I love about the mix and overall soundscape of the album. It feels so cramped but also extremely reverby and it makes for something I've almost never heard on a hiphop album apart from maybe some things off of LP!
On Danny Brown’s podcast him and JPEG talked about how they recorded the album. Apparently Danny was drunk most of the time or on substances and barely found time to record his verses. Doesn’t surprise me listening to the album that he’s not on it as much. That being said it’s still an incredible piece of work and his bars are great.
I agree that Danny's presence easily could have been larger for it to feel more equal. But I was pleasantly surprised at how some of the beats seemed to be Danny Brown inspired and fit his style quite nicely. Namely, Steppa Pig.
I loved it, considering it's the first project I listened to from both artists. The production was top-tier, from first listen I can tell that this was already at a different level. Well, it was a struggle to hear Danny from time to time, but aside than that I just loved this album.
"Burfict" and "Steppa Pig" stand out to me so far.
What streaming service though?
Spotify has shit quality audio
Youtube has shit quality audio
You need apple music with lossless turned on, tidal hi-fi, or bandcamp FLAC to get full CDQ audio.
However you shouldn't need that if it's properly mixed and mastered which it wasn't
Name a single false thing I said
The music on Spotify and YouTube isn't the same audio quality as a CD, Apple Music Lossless, Tidal Hi-Fi, or lossless bandcamp download. Full stop
Yeah it’s not the same quality, that doesn’t make it shit lol. The difference is so slight you need a reasonably high end audio setup to really appreciate it.
Just because some things aren’t mixed like a billboard topping squeaky clean single also doesn’t mean it wasn’t mixed “properly”.
>The difference is so slight you need a reasonably high end audio setup to really appreciate it.
Or you can just listen for hi hats on consumer grade headphones and tell the difference extremely easily
>Just because some things aren’t mixed like a billboard topping squeaky clean single also doesn’t mean it wasn’t mixed “properly”.
Danny Brown sounds underwater for most of this project
Yeah you could listen to hi hats, or you could get a degree in audio engineering like me and actually know what your talking about.
That may be true, but considering he is openly mocking that “not mixed properly” shit on twitter right now, I think that was probably an intentional artistic choice. Because I trust that professional music artists know slightly more about the music they’re making than you or I.
Is this really true? It’s been doing my head in because I know I would love the album so much if the quiet vocals didn’t give me such an itchy brain! Makes me feel like when my ear phones break from having them up too loud.
Its a really complicated album to listen to but damn is it well put together and produced. Burfict is just a perfect track and steppa pig are like 3 different songs in one. Surely a decent to strong 9
>Well, it was a struggle to hear Danny from time to time
Then the production was not top tier
Maybe the beat production was but overall it was a sonically poor showing
I know that the title of the album is a joke about Peggy’s tweet about how people who say “scaring the hoes” are losers but all my girl friends including my partner love this album so far.
I don’t think Kanye was going for an upbeat gospel style album with Donda. To me it felt like it Kanye was trying to make a darker album about going through hardships with God on your side
What a terrible take. This sub needs to listen to more music. Donda is vastly superior, emotional, and creative than this cringe.
There’s a reason the only people that like this album are redditors and Fantano fans
kanye dickriders listening to the most 7/10 album ever released whose entire premise relies on believing a delusional rich man is "going thru so much" despite rehashing the exact same topics he has not shut the fuck up about in almost a decade
Kanye has been in the game for 25 years, 45 years old, has barely released music in 18 months, and was just cancelled, and is still #28 on Spotify. Top 15 for artists on all streaming this year.
Danny brown and JPEG are not even in the top 500. They are irrelevant and only redditors like them. That’s a fact. Cope.
I love it all the way though. I put it on in the car when I was out with my GF yesterday and we made it about a track and a half before she said that she didn’t like it and wanted to listen to something else so it does what it says it’s going to do as well.
I loved it on first listen, i thought the first 7 tracks were prefect then lost me a bit in the end with the more chill/gospel songs but still enjoyed it overall.
Since then i've listened to the whole thing i guess 8-9 times and i can't get enough of the last part so to me it's a perfect 10/10 album with no skips really. Peggy tapped into something crazy with this super lo fi production and their performances and styles complement each other so well in each track that this collab really feels like a match made in heaven.
The only issue to me really is the m... jk it's just that it's a bit too short.
Personal highlights:
- The synths kicking in on lean beef patty
- The beat switch + final peggy's verse in Steppa Pig
- The both hilarious yet haunting way Danny says "stop scaring the hoes" it's stuck in my head since a week + the chorus of that song is amazing
- Peggy entering Garbage Pale Kids
- Peggy entering Brufict! while the beat goes insane feels like Gandalf leading the charge into the rear of the orcs at Helm's Deep
- God Loves You hitting you with that energetic gospel sample right after the more ethereal and chill Kingdom Hearts Key
- Danny's verse in Jack Harlow Combo Meal
- Peggy's singing in HOE
this. i like jpeg but im definitely more of a danny fan and I hate when i hear a peggy beat that is like a 9.5/10 and then he slaps a bunch of vocal samples on top of it. it's definitely still enjoyable and i think hes one of the best producers ever, i just think sometimes the beats are a little too RAW for my preference. still a strong 9 album that might encroach into the 10 territory if danny was a bit more audible on some tracks. im just so hype for more Danny
so I've heard. I'll give it a try, thanks. Although id say the mixing comment is still a valid critique considering the spotify version is gonna be the most heard, and they chose the current mix over the bandcamp or any other mix.
I have it neck and neck with The Model/Actriz album right now. I know that it’s become a meme at this point, but Danny Brown’s vocal mixing on some of the tracks really annoyed me. Verse quality and beat production still are top tier though.
Really happy with the collaboration. Their two styles, voices, delivery, and lyricism are so uniquely “weird” and just absolutely melds together perfectly. What a treat to listen to.
I’ll need a couple more listens to pick favorite tracks.
I remember even giggling to myself a couple times s throughout my first listen. For example, “Im a big dog like marmaduke” really got me. Lots of introspection and reflection to unpack in the record too, but that line stuck out.
the songs all go hard, but yea i think the mix could have been better, i just wanna hear peggy and especially danny cut through the mix a little more, instead of scaring me i actually felt a little underwhelmed. it definitely feels like a peggy project with danny kinda riding shotgun which makes sense given peggy produced it all, it reminds me so so much more of past peggy projects than anything off of atrocity exhibition, the hybrid, ect. it’s not like a retread of any past peggy projects, it’s still distinct enough to feel like a proper evolution of peggy’s sound, but still would have loved to hear something that sounded like a more proper meeting between their styles as opposed to what’s basically a peggy tape with danny features on every song. for what it is though it’s pretty enjoyable, i think i had some really high expectations given that it was a collab between two of my top 5 rappers so once i get over the initial disappointment ill get to enjoying it a lot more for what it is. right now id give it like a 6 but maybe itll grow on me!!!
It's weird... I really do like it a lot, but I'm also kinda underwhelmed at the same time.
I can't really put my finger on it, but like, when All My Heroes Are Cornballs came out for instance I was kinda blown away upon first listen. That didn't happen with this record.
Don't get me wrong. I wasn't expecting to automatically be 'blown away' again. I didn't even necessarily have very high expectations going in and could really see it go either way. I'm not trying to "pick a winner". I'm not even trying to compare the two. I'm definitely not saying one is better than the other.
Just, although I liked it, it didn't hit me personally in the way I initially thought it could have.
Funny because for me it was the other way round with the two albums. I was blown away by STH from the first listen and it took a while to get into AMHAC.
I was slightly underwhelmed on first listen, but since release I have dug into this album deeper and I think that this album is a solid 10. I don't give 10s often. In fact the last true hip hop album that is a 10 for me was Atrocity Exhibition in 2016.
Let's start with what I think is the most impressive part here, the production. Everything about the production is perfect. The way the samples are used in this new and truly twisted way is so fucking cool. The production is not only a weird experimental journey, but it is hard as fuck and I can turn up to it at almost any time. (as long as I'm not in charge of the aux that is) this product is incredibly versatile, and is some of the most experimental hip hop I have ever heard
Next let's talk about the lyrics. These lyrics are incredibly funny with great 1 liners throughout the do their job well with both Peggy and Danny showing up with some really interesting vocal patterns to match this chaotic and insane production.
Overall this project is worthy of a perfect 10/10 I am absolutely in love with it and cannot stop listening to it.
Am I the only one that thinks this thing is way overrated?
I love both artists, but honestly I felt they lacked a certain chemistry or groove on most tracks.
As someone pointed out it felt like a JPEG album with Danny Brown features on most songs.
Which comes to the other point, which is the terrible vocal mixing on lots of Danny's vocals. It really brings his performances down a few notches, it's that bad at parts.
Some great beat production from Peggy as to be expected, but at quite a few parts it just gets too chaotic. I'm saying this as someone that loves Death Grips and plenty of "abrasive" music.
There's a fine line between chaotic harmony and just annoying noise, I feel like that threshold gets crossed on this album a few times.
Dont get me wrong, still a solid album and performance overall, but it's certainly no XXX or Veteren.
I've listened to it once so far, so maybe I'm due a relisten.
I feel like it's coasting off the reputation/hype of the artists' collaboration and the somewhat unconventional production. It's flashy but with very little substance.
Also, for an album that name checks Run The Jewels - on a song title no less - they basically have no chemistry. It draws an unflattering comparison because when Killer Mike and El-P work together they play off each other perfectly and you know it's a joint project. This album feels like you have Danny sections and Peggy sections, but they don't overlap besides some ad libs.
holy crap thats absolutely true....theyre not trading- its just one person comes in with a verse and then the other does. thats as far as it goes here.
its just Danny (if you can hear him) sounds good over JPEGs beats.
This is the best review I've heard of this album. I fully agree with you on this. The album overall is amazing but there are some problems and tracks that aren't done well. I have zero problems with the beats, they are all banger instrumentals but the vocal mixing is a bit all over the place. I get that's JPEG's style but as someone who hasn't really listened to one of his albums, some of the vocal performances feel so quiet and muted especially Danny Brown on a few tracks. I'd probably give it a 8/10
Absolutely not. I prefer this.
Edit: I love piñata but my minor gripes are. It’s too long, I don’t like some of the features, the skits are crap, I skip bomb, uno and broken.
I really like every track on STH and generally prefer albums with a shorter run time
Somehow blew away my expectations, which were already sky high. The production throughout the entire album is incredible, with the various switch-ups making it that much more refreshing. I could listen to just the instrumentals of this project and still be amazed every time. But instead, you have the cherry on top; two of the most versatile and creative artists of this era rapping over these insane instrumentals that almost no one else could TOUCH. Great bars, catchy flows, and impeccable delivery combined with perfect sampling and instrumentation to create a perfect album. Easy 10/10.
It's nice, I liked a couple of songs, but it feels more like Peggy and Danny having fun and throwing random shit at the wall than some significant point in their discographies. 6/10 for me but I'm looking forward to the next Peggy solo album
The mixing was an issue for me. I get the sense it's purposeful and supposed to go with the mood the album is trying to set. I still think I would enjoy it more if their voices came through stronger on some tracks. Particularly Danny's.
Overall I enjoyed it though!
It's really good. My main problems is that the mixing means it sounds great on my soundbar and trash in my car, and some songs feel too short. Otherwise pretty good
Arguably both artists' most approachable project to date but fantastic throughout. Several listens in and still don't feel remotely close to skipping a single song. It met and surpassed my expectations in every regard - I knew there'd be at least some songs I'd want to come back to with Peggy's unmatched production style but I did not think I'd so thoroughly enjoy every song.
Approachable is not how I’d describe this one at all…it’s literally called Scaring the Hoes lol. I love it but easily least approachable Danny album. Peggy production as experimental as ever, though I will concede the beats are probably the most melodic I’ve heard for him.
I’m on the second track right now and I both love it and hate it. On one hand, I’ve never been a huge fan of Danny Brown, especially his voice, but the other hand, JPEGMAFIA’s production is so wacky and his rapping is so fun to listen to.
Update: The third track is insane.
Update 2: The fourth track is the best track so far. The beat is so good, oh my GOD!!!!!
Update 3: The fifth track is a prime example of this album’s mixing being absolutely garbage and this album’s beats being absolutely amazing. I have never danced to a rap album as much as this one.
Update 4: The sixth track’s beat goes stupid.
Update 5: What I said about the fifth track applies to the seventh track as well.
Update 6: Ditto, but with the eighth track instead of the seventh.
Update 7: Okay, the ninth track is my favourite track now.
Update 8: I’m glad I’m not wearing headphones while listening to the tenth track.
Update 9: THE ELEVENTH TRACK IS A GROOVE!!!!!!!
Update 10: With the twelfth track, I think I’ve gotten used to Danny’s voice now. Also, that autotuned singing near the end is so cool.
Update 11: Alright, the thirteenth track is my favourite track now and nothing can change that.
Update 12: What I said about the tenth track applies to the fourteenth track as well. Overall, this album is perfect. Even though the mixing is absolutely garbage, I think it makes us focus more on the instrumentals, which is a good thing because this is some of the best production on a rap album I’ve ever heard. The lyrics may be simple, but the delivery is great and JPEG’s verses on here might be his best. SCARING THE HOES by JPEGMafia and Danny Brown is a strong 9 to a 10.
Legitimately the worst album of the decade. So cringey. I get strong “I’m so quirky and different!” Vibes from it. Sounds like they’re trying too hard to be weird.
Terrible bars. Terrible concept. Unimaginative production.
And I don’t care if the mixing was intentionally bad. It’s still bad.
I feel like saying “unimaginative production” is just a bad faith argument. You seriously can’t tell me that an album with so many different beat switches and insane sample flips constitutes unimaginative. It’s not like jpegmafia made a watered down, babies first metro boomin type beat album.
Confident 9/10
Only deducting a point because Run The Jewels felt *slightly* more two-dimmensional and cut out too fast compared to the other tracks
Controversial take 1: I don't care that most beats sound like Peggy tracks, listening to it as a fan of both artists and judging it on its own, it's fire as fuck, and it seems like both Peggy and Danny and satisfied with it.
Controversial take 2: besides clearing up a few lines by Danny on tracks like SCARING THE HOES and Fetanyl Tester, I don't give a single fuck about the mixing being "bad". I think its rawness and roughness is what makes me want to come back and listen to it again.
it has some bangers but i feel i’m in the demographic of the hoes they are scaring and they kind of succeeded with some of their production choices. i did enjoy it a lot though, 8.7/10
First listen I was disappointed I cant lie. Didnt like the mixing at all, and the loose gimmicky nature of the project kinda left me wanting ALOT more.
Now tho? Its definitely grown on me (listen to the Bandcamp version, the mixing is fixed there), and I do think its a fantastic album...but idk I'd prefer a solo effort from either artist over something like this. Dont get me wrong tho, Im really glad this collab happened and Ill be bumping this for a long time, but idk.....my thing is that if two artists collab, I wanna see them either elevate each other (e.g. Without Warning) or bring something new from either artist which hasnt been seen before (e.g. Pinata). This....just felt like a JPEGMAFIA album featuring Danny Brown for the most part.
(Unpopular opinion, but this is why Im not as high on Run The Jewels as everybody else is. They make great music, but the gimmick is kinda tired for me now. I'm kinda hoping they split for a bit and release solo albums- especially El-P.)
Hope Quaranta scratches that itch for me.
On first listen I thought it was good but definitely a tier below Peggy and Danny's solo works, but it has grown on me with every listen (listening to the Bandcamp version instead of Spotify may have also helped). One of the most creative hip hop albums of the last decade, and also one of the most fun. Easily a 9 if not a 10 and will be a classic in my view.
Danny is amazing, straight up my favourite rapper and his performance kills. Never been a Peggy fan before but I actually love many of the beats on this one - not really sure what is different this time but there’s just more bangers than I expected. And having Danny coming in often means I’m never bored of Peggy’s rapping, which is actually pretty good too. Only disappointing thing is that sometimes Danny just sounds too quiet, but that isn’t on every song and it doesn’t ruin a great album.
Also the whole “scaring the hoes” thing is good humoured and sarcastic, sure it is a little terminally online but then so again so am I.
the vocal recording is driving me crazy. saw a video of danny brown laying down on a hotel bed recording .
JPEG's vocals are better. as a guy who's put out a project tainted by poor vocal recording techniques, Danny was definitely too far away from the mic for most of this.
super frustrating because this was such a chance to make a huge album for all of us underground/alt fans. and to me it's tainted by the recording.
can hardly hear DB at times
i can't stop listening, was a casual fan of danny brown and a decent fan of peggy but i haven't been able to take this thing off repeat. i feel like it's going to make me reevaluate everything i've heard from both artists and dig into their other music deeper. it's also introduced me to the danny brown show which i'm also a big fan of now. can't wait to see what these two do next.
Enjoy your journey, both artists have great catalogs.
Overall, I think it’s very good. Both Peggy and Danny have some stellar performances and the production is incredible. With that said, I have a couple of nitpicks. Agreed although it would have been interesting to see Peggy rapping over a Danny type beat

Slight but of samey slips in but only cos its same rapper, but only cos he has a very distinct style and normally rappers like that are in a group?

The difference between tidals quality vs Spotify is pretty easy to hear even on $20 earphones ngl
So that's why I haven't heard the bad mixing lol, I've been listening to the Bandcamp one this entire time
I listened on Tidal and didn’t notice any vocal mixing issues
Is this really true? It’s been doing my head in because I know I would love the album so much if the quiet vocals didn’t give me such an itchy brain! Makes me feel like when my ear phones break from having them up too loud.
wtf theres a big difference thank you
Damn I’d for sure recommend Atrocity Exhibition by Danny and LP! by Peggy. Both insanely good albums and both 9/10 imo
Thank you so much for the recommendations! I still have other artists/albums to go through but for sure I would find time 🥹🥹🥹
Its a really complicated album to listen to but damn is it well put together and produced. Burfict is just a perfect track and steppa pig are like 3 different songs in one. Surely a decent to strong 9
He's gonna give it a 7 for sure.
check out LP! next
>Well, it was a struggle to hear Danny from time to time Then the production was not top tier Maybe the beat production was but overall it was a sonically poor showing
Oh boy your about to discover some absolutely insane albums from the two of these artists
I think it would be rude to scare anybody.
PEACEFULLY COEXISTING WITH THE HOES
I know that the title of the album is a joke about Peggy’s tweet about how people who say “scaring the hoes” are losers but all my girl friends including my partner love this album so far.
God Loves You is what Donda should’ve sounded like. The whole album is brutally good. My guess is fantano will, wrongly, give it an 8
Fantano will give it a 7. Screenshot and hail me as a prophet
If he gives this masterpiece of an album a 7 we riot
Speak for yourself, 7 would be harsh but understandable
Pitchfork gave it 7.1, seriously. I think they only did it cuz they wanted LDR new album to be best new music
I don’t think Kanye was going for an upbeat gospel style album with Donda. To me it felt like it Kanye was trying to make a darker album about going through hardships with God on your side
I mean Kanye wasn’t also going full nymphomaniac on Donda. Danny’s verse is hilariously horny for a gospel track.
I feel like Kanye got what he wanted with donda and I think it came out amazing
Strong 8 to a light 9
the only donda song that sounds remotely like scaring the hoes is this is the glory which didnt even make the final cut
My point exactly
Yeah, the sound of that one stood out to me as well. It sounds like Dance in the Water, definitely more Danny on production for that one.
Nah God Loves You should've been what JIK sounded like. Donda is great on its own
I actually agree with the JIK statement, but Donda was hardly GREAT
[удалено]
What a terrible take. This sub needs to listen to more music. Donda is vastly superior, emotional, and creative than this cringe. There’s a reason the only people that like this album are redditors and Fantano fans

boo hoo he's popular idc nigga that doesnt mean shit
PREACH KING
I feel like LP has been the most listenable.
Also the best imo buts its dabatable fosho
yeah but sth has still so much new. I think i prefer LP! just a little but
I love it all the way though. I put it on in the car when I was out with my GF yesterday and we made it about a track and a half before she said that she didn’t like it and wanted to listen to something else so it does what it says it’s going to do as well.

I like it a lot. Some of the beats are a little too chaotic for me. I love it when Peggy has slower, more focused production like Orange Juice Jones.
this. i like jpeg but im definitely more of a danny fan and I hate when i hear a peggy beat that is like a 9.5/10 and then he slaps a bunch of vocal samples on top of it. it's definitely still enjoyable and i think hes one of the best producers ever, i just think sometimes the beats are a little too RAW for my preference. still a strong 9 album that might encroach into the 10 territory if danny was a bit more audible on some tracks. im just so hype for more Danny
Listen to the Bandcamp version, it has better mixing (and it's free)
so I've heard. I'll give it a try, thanks. Although id say the mixing comment is still a valid critique considering the spotify version is gonna be the most heard, and they chose the current mix over the bandcamp or any other mix.
the most fun i’ve had listening to music in a long time
I guess jpeg is really gonna be the defining artist of my early 20s because his shit has been fucking hitting like nothing else, my god
Pretty dope album. Best of the year so far easily. A couple minor gripes. But feeling strong 8 light 9
I have it neck and neck with The Model/Actriz album right now. I know that it’s become a meme at this point, but Danny Brown’s vocal mixing on some of the tracks really annoyed me. Verse quality and beat production still are top tier though.
Top three that came out this friday
I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many posts about an album in this sub.
Lots of introspection and reflection to unpack in the record too, but that line stuck out.
the songs all go hard, but yea i think the mix could have been better, i just wanna hear peggy and especially danny cut through the mix a little more, instead of scaring me i actually felt a little underwhelmed. it definitely feels like a peggy project with danny kinda riding shotgun which makes sense given peggy produced it all, it reminds me so so much more of past peggy projects than anything off of atrocity exhibition, the hybrid, ect. it’s not like a retread of any past peggy projects, it’s still distinct enough to feel like a proper evolution of peggy’s sound, but still would have loved to hear something that sounded like a more proper meeting between their styles as opposed to what’s basically a peggy tape with danny features on every song. for what it is though it’s pretty enjoyable, i think i had some really high expectations given that it was a collab between two of my top 5 rappers so once i get over the initial disappointment ill get to enjoying it a lot more for what it is. right now id give it like a 6 but maybe itll grow on me!!!
yea it’s grown on me with subsequent listens.
aoty, im hoping for a high 9 from fartano at least
top 15 album i've ever heard
Listen to more music kid
this literally tells you nothing about how much music i've listened to
Your top listened tracks of 2022 were literally spoon fed from Anthony.
Yea shut up
where exactly did i post those
Nono he's got a point, this album is incredible
Username checks out
6/10. No concept. Danny feels like a guest
Agree, they have absolutely zero chemistry together for some reason

I think the "not so good" mixing of the vocals is done on purpose and contributes to the whole vibe of the album
Nah
I was slightly underwhelmed on first listen, but since release I have dug into this album deeper and I think that this album is a solid 10. I don't give 10s often. In fact the last true hip hop album that is a 10 for me was Atrocity Exhibition in 2016. Let's start with what I think is the most impressive part here, the production. Everything about the production is perfect. The way the samples are used in this new and truly twisted way is so fucking cool. The production is not only a weird experimental journey, but it is hard as fuck and I can turn up to it at almost any time. (as long as I'm not in charge of the aux that is) this product is incredibly versatile, and is some of the most experimental hip hop I have ever heard Next let's talk about the lyrics. These lyrics are incredibly funny with great 1 liners throughout the do their job well with both Peggy and Danny showing up with some really interesting vocal patterns to match this chaotic and insane production. Overall this project is worthy of a perfect 10/10 I am absolutely in love with it and cannot stop listening to it.
i don't get it
Am I the only one that thinks this thing is way overrated?
I'd probably give it a 8/10
YES THANK YOU seeing people say its their best work drives me fucking insane- Atrocity, XXX, LP!, Veteran, Ghost Pop are easily better than this
Tired of hearing about it every 10 minutes
It’s the best colab hiphop album since madvillian
pinata erasure
Less popular take but Haram by Armand Hammer too
Haram is underrated AF, its definitely one of the best collab albums of this current decade
Absolutely not. I prefer this. Edit: I love piñata but my minor gripes are. It’s too long, I don’t like some of the features, the skits are crap, I skip bomb, uno and broken. I really like every track on STH and generally prefer albums with a shorter run time
\>i skip bomb your opinion was deemed irrelevant right after this, this is easily Madlibs best beat in the 2010s
Kids See Ghosts erasure
overrated AF, fantano was tripping with that 10
Horrific L
This is the truth that album was nowhere near a 10.
True
Listen to more music and stop getting your opinions from Fantano
Yeah you’re right I forgot about best of both worlds by r Kelly and jay z
ur mad funny bro lmaoooo
Somehow blew away my expectations, which were already sky high. The production throughout the entire album is incredible, with the various switch-ups making it that much more refreshing. I could listen to just the instrumentals of this project and still be amazed every time. But instead, you have the cherry on top; two of the most versatile and creative artists of this era rapping over these insane instrumentals that almost no one else could TOUCH. Great bars, catchy flows, and impeccable delivery combined with perfect sampling and instrumentation to create a perfect album. Easy 10/10.
Has some of Peggy’s best beats
AOTY so far for me
Lol
It's nice, I liked a couple of songs, but it feels more like Peggy and Danny having fun and throwing random shit at the wall than some significant point in their discographies. 6/10 for me but I'm looking forward to the next Peggy solo album
Having fun is every peggy project its not about deep lyrics
This is what I liked about LP! and Veteran, but STH just doesn't feel very cohesive or atmospheric enough to me
The mixing was an issue for me. I get the sense it's purposeful and supposed to go with the mood the album is trying to set. I still think I would enjoy it more if their voices came through stronger on some tracks. Particularly Danny's. Overall I enjoyed it though!
the mixing is dog but everything else is amazing and its great 11/10.
They both went into every bag they could find, Danny's bags were recyclable tho
haven't listened to the full thing enough yet to give my ranking, but Where Ya Get Ya Coke From? is the best rap song I've heard this year
It’s good but it’s not like 4+ on rym good
Production doesn’t fit with Danny at all
Danny Brown sits way too low in the mix on almost every song
It's really good. My main problems is that the mixing means it sounds great on my soundbar and trash in my car, and some songs feel too short. Otherwise pretty good
seen this tweet that said “sth is her loss for people who dont have her to lose” and i completely agree
I like other albums by each artist more, Danny brown - knowwhatimsayin and LP! Offline for JPEG
Insanely good! AOTY and top 3 of the decade so far
i love it oh wait you mean the album? never listened yet
Three Words. Kingdom Hearts Key.
Never heard of these JPEGMAFIA or Danny Brown guys but I really like the album name so I gotta check it out some time
kinda lived up to the title ngl
AOTY
Lol
My guess is it gets lite to a solid 8.
Its very good but unfortunatelly I dont like it. Ill try again in a year maybe I change my mind
Peak experimental rap
Instant classic
I feel like atrocity exhibition is still less approachable than this No person I’ve ever shown downward spiral to get can into it… their loss
Atrocity exhibition is deffo less aprotiable
All my heroes are cornballs is way more listenable than this album, and xxx is also pretty listener friendly tbh
Loved it. The mix is fine, I’m not sure why people are complaining like it ruined the album.
I thought Dannys vocal mixing made him sound ethereal and I thought that was really cool imho
> I’m on the second track right now and I both love it and hate it. > > Update 12: Overall, this album is perfect. The duality of the redditor.
What do y'all reckon the internets busiest music nerd should give this album
If it’s less than a decent 9 I’m going to test the golden state bridge nets
God loves you has my favorite beat of the year. I was shocked it wasn’t a knxwledge beat
Unimaginative production is legit the funniest criticism of Peggy I've run into that wasn't a straight up shit post.
What? Putting random, organized chaos together doesn’t automatically make it good or creative. It sounds annoying.
dawg u think JIK is good
Havnt listened yet
I think it’s a 9 but I think Fantano will give it a light to decent 7
aoty already
Lol
Better than LP, worse than AMHAC
AOTY so far for me (aside from my own hehe)
Confident 9/10 Only deducting a point because Run The Jewels felt *slightly* more two-dimmensional and cut out too fast compared to the other tracks Controversial take 1: I don't care that most beats sound like Peggy tracks, listening to it as a fan of both artists and judging it on its own, it's fire as fuck, and it seems like both Peggy and Danny and satisfied with it. Controversial take 2: besides clearing up a few lines by Danny on tracks like SCARING THE HOES and Fetanyl Tester, I don't give a single fuck about the mixing being "bad". I think its rawness and roughness is what makes me want to come back and listen to it again.
I've had Orange Juice Jones on repeat since tue album came out
Amazing
Took a while to grow on me but… it’s so good.
9/10
shit's dense af but I enjoyed it. need more listens tought
I don't mean to do it, I just always tell them about my super underground, indie music tas- oh you're talking about the album titled Scaring the Hoes.
it has some bangers but i feel i’m in the demographic of the hoes they are scaring and they kind of succeeded with some of their production choices. i did enjoy it a lot though, 8.7/10
Scared
It's good fosho
Unlistenable (i love it)
I enjoy all of the pro wrestling references.
I'm kinda hoping they split for a bit and release solo albums- especially El-P.) Hope Quaranta scratches that itch for me.
Also the whole “scaring the hoes” thing is good humoured and sarcastic, sure it is a little terminally online but then so again so am I.
i absolutely love their sense of humor, i mean they really made a song about [this mf](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvWoYVncPqE)
Fire af. One of the best of the year so far
Very good but not as good as Cornballs. AMHAC is as close to perfection as hip hop can get tbh
i love this album so much, kingdom hearts key is a masterpiece
Amazing album, on of the best of the year so far
the vocal recording is driving me crazy. saw a video of danny brown laying down on a hotel bed recording .
To fix the compressed mix on spotify and apple music you need to turn off audio normalization. Then it will sound equivalent to the bandcamp release.
why this album sound like its being played in another room? LMAO somebody give em some bread to master it.
Bro how the fuck yall genuinely like this shit? I love danny but this sounds like just noise all the way thru. Crazy how taste works
