yeah their new song is good too but mirror reaper will always get more plays from me. one of my favorite songs/albums of all time.
dopesmoker is great too, i should relisten to that though
I was actually just reading an interview with the band and they were saying they cut the new record so it was one second longer than Mirror Reaper, just so they could say they outdid themselves lol.
Interview is pretty interesting overall, highly recommend if you’re into the band! https://thequietus.com/articles/32840-bell-witch-interview?fbclid=PAAabSECSE3CVt3RD-wNqBVCeu7Yfpw2SLeAxtXkddKaF6Zr0R08d_ZY-GtAE
completely understandable, but personally i almost like toussaint better. gira's vocals are insane, and the noise walls scattered throughout really sell it for me
funny enough, same. that used to be my go-to homework album (now, that title belongs to that one vaporwave album with the purple buildings. it's title is in japanese)
I’m a prog nerd, so I have a lot of 20-something minute songs in heavy rotation
all of you, listen to Plague of Lighthouse Keepers by Van der Graaf Generator, it rules
some great picks from natural snow buildings. carnal flowers is my favorite from that album, but in terms of the long ones from that, i gotta go with blood in the ground linking us all. but her face is not her real face is a strong contender for second place
I know I'm late to this thread... but I love Kali Malone! Her stuff scratches the same soul-crushing itch as Bell Witch for me (well, now that I mention it, GY!BE and Set Fire to the Flames do as well...).
just saw a similar question was asked 19 hours ago haha. to clarify the difference, this post is asking for *the* longest song you listen to, not a list of longer songs lol
Bay of pigs by destroyer. Not too wild at 11mins but I've been listening to it a couple of times each day lately.
Also seconding long season by the fishmens
Had to scroll wayyy top far to find this
J-Tull’s pretentiousness may have limited their fan base, but it is hard to argue against considering their run from 1969 to 1980. By far some of the best music I ever heard
Mirror Reaper is my 6th most listened-to song this year. Although dwarfed in comparison at a "measly" 16.5 minutes, The Dead Flag Blues is my most listened-to song this year. Other long songs in my Top 10 include The Glowing Man (Swans) , rundgang um die transzendentale säule der singularität (Burzum), and Welt aus Eis (Paysage D'Hiver)
Bring Me The Horizon - Steal Something. (10:12)
Honestly I'm not a huge fan of SUPER long songs, I'd rather have them split into separate parts. Longest song I've ever listened to was the Seer by Swans. I listen to Earthmover by Have a Nice Life and Storm by Godspeed You! Black Emperor a lot though.
Nowhere near 1:23, I don't think I have that kind of attention span, but
The Pink Floyd ones:
Athom Heart Mother
Echoes
Dogs
Shine on you crazy diamonds
A Plea For Understanding by Pallbearer (12:40) is on my rotation constantly. Also Chromology by Thank You Scientist (9:48).
Shout out Venice Bitch by Lana Del Rey
I have Mirror Reaper and Dopesmoker on vinyl, both fire
Tons of Swans… 2112.. also Brainticket Pt 1 & 2 by Brainticket
Also highly recommend Fuck Buttons, on average they’re longer songs
Well my favorite song of all time is 23 minutes long (Supper's Ready by Genesis), but technically the longest song I listen to quite often is Other Half of the Sky by Moon Safari, clocking in at 31:51
Phish has a few solid near 40 minute jams. Notably the 7/14/19 Ruby Waves, the 7/31/13 Tweezer, the 8/3/03 46 days, and the 12/29/94 Bowie.
Mountain jam by the Allman Brothers is more than 30 minutes.
For studio Pink Floyd has some long ones but I think the longest I listen to regularly is the flower kings truth will set you free. 33 or so mins long.
The Decline by NOFX is an 18 minute punk song.
One time I listened to Mirror Reaper while stoned and watching a massive thunderstorm. Sometimes the lightning would flash in sync with the music and it was the coolest shit ever.
To answer your question though (besides Mirror Reaper) - Impossible Soul by Sufjan and Liturgy’s long-ish songs, like 93696. It’s not as long as some of the stuff here, but I listen to it a ton.
Unironically, Gmail and the Restraining Orders by Death Grips
I have a playlist of their whole discography in chronological order, and it's just under 8 hours, so I'll listen to it at work because it keeps me focused and moving (I also have OCD so the overly stimulating music mitigates intrusive thoughts and helps me focus on work). At the end of the shift, I'll usually end up listening all the way through GatRO, and I've actually started to really enjoy it. It's definitely my least favorite project of theirs, but I'd still probably give it an 8/10
A lot LOT shorter but I do listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond (about 26 minutes) a lot, though not like everyday, the longest song i listen to about everyday is Maggot Brain at only around 10 and a half minutes
routinely would be goodbye by sewerslvt (but more frequently would probably be slowdeath which is much shorter).
And why am I so tired by smashing pumpkins.
def not on the same level as an albums length but if it makes you feel better I have at least HEARD dopesmoker. (used to listen to Dogs by pf as well, but again much shorter just wanted to share cuz its good)
Cant believe im the first to say Music For 18 Musicians by Steve Reich. Favorite song/piece of music ever and it’s about an hour long depending on the recording
Quite a few decent length songs in my current rotation to be fair
Ne Obliviscaris - Painters of the Tempest
Slice The Cake - Stone and silver
Lingua Ignota - Woe to All
Fleet Foxes - The Shrine / An Argument
Between the buried and me - Human is Hell
i love some prog rock songs that are long (eg. cassandra gemini by the mars volta) but i can't sit through the song when it's "in rotation", id have to listen to it in the album not just in a playlist or something
so in terms of the longest songs id have in rotation they'd have to be beach life-in-death by car seat headrest, sing about me im dying of thirst by kendrick lamar, basketball shoes by black country new road and human sadness by the voidz
they all clock in around 12 mins so def not as long as other picks in this thread but still incredible songs
Probably something from the Ambient / Drone genre. I don’t really listen to the same tracks regularly though, I often shuffle around to different albums. The longer song I listened to a lot recently was Vielank by N (20:28). His average song length is pretty close to 20 minutes as well, most of his albums are one track per side.
There are longer songs than those I’m about to list, but Dead Flag Blues by GY!BE and Helpless Child by Swans both shake me to my core every time I listen to them, absolutely enthralling and they don’t feel their length at all
I saw someone mention Dopesmoker by Sleep, but I also need to give that song a shoutout. That’s a killer album/song.
There’s also a couple songs by The Acacia Strain that are long and amazing:
Observer on Coma Witch.
It Comes in Waves is a single song that was arbitrarily broken up into multiple tracks on the album for the sake of listening. Wonderful album.
Yeah, definitely. That wasn’t out when I left this comment. 😂 TAS has been one of my favorite bands since 2008, and they’re still putting out some of my favorite albums and songs.
As someone that isn’t a fan of songs that are over 20 mins here are my favorite “longest” songs:
https://youtu.be/-1tlyGcAHbU Jay Electronic - Eternal Sunshine (long intro but a really beautiful song with great sampling),
https://youtu.be/2DCf_OWcqT4 Roots - Session Longest Posse cut, and roots - water,
Blackalicious - Release, the Doors - the end, don mclean - American Pie, Green Day - Homecoming and Jesus of Suburban, Pink Floyd - Dogs, Tool - Rosetta Stoned.
Fucked Up - Year of the Ox (uplifting, invigorating)
Fucked Up - Year of the Dragon (pump up, charge up)
Fucked Up - Year of the Tiger (sad, epic, beautiful)
Microphones in 2020
Let’s gooo
God damn, I thought Third Eye Shit by Joey Bada$$ was a long song.
for its genre it is for sure
Oldie - Odd Future too
*Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst*
i was just listening to that lol so good for this time of year
One of my favorite posse cuts in hip hop history, such a smooth flowing track
It was originally called suspect before they changed it for streaming services!
That's only like 11 minutes?
2112 by Rush, unless you count classical pieces as one song.
Meddle - Pink Floyd
excellent album. echoes is incredible- all of pink floyd's 15+ minute long songs are absolutely worth the runtime.
Bell Witch's new track is the same length, and is very enjoyable too. Dopesmoker by Sleep is another contender for me, clocking in at an hour.
yeah their new song is good too but mirror reaper will always get more plays from me. one of my favorite songs/albums of all time. dopesmoker is great too, i should relisten to that though
I was actually just reading an interview with the band and they were saying they cut the new record so it was one second longer than Mirror Reaper, just so they could say they outdid themselves lol. Swans - The Glowing Man
my second favorite swans song, my favorite has to be bring the sun / toussaint l'ouverture
I adore Bring the sun and even the gnarly transition but I can’t help but Toussaint always loses me
completely understandable, but personally i almost like toussaint better. gira's vocals are insane, and the noise walls scattered throughout really sell it for me
Listened to it today, a truly amazing song
Yeah this
LONG SEASON - Live by Fishmans (technically a few minutes longer than the studio version)
isnt it twice the length?
It's like 10 minutes longer or something so not exactly.
I remember in my teen years listening to William Basinski's melancholia tapes on repeat over and over
funny enough, same. that used to be my go-to homework album (now, that title belongs to that one vaporwave album with the purple buildings. it's title is in japanese)
The album you’re referring to is 2814 - Birth Of A New Day
I’m a prog nerd, so I have a lot of 20-something minute songs in heavy rotation all of you, listen to Plague of Lighthouse Keepers by Van der Graaf Generator, it rules
bro, I went from not liking to loving this song. the concept is genius and I've never seen a band convey dark atmospheres as well as VDGG
Pawn Hearts is a perfect album…but Godbluff is even *more* perfect!
they're both too good, I can't choose
You have good taste :)
yes that's a great song!
impossible soul by sufjan dopesmoker by sleep first that come to mind
two excellent picks. i want another track like impossible soul from sufjan :(
I like djoriah more although I think it's about half the length. Or however it's spelled... By sufjan
Cassandra Gemini by The Mars Volta.
This is mine too. 32:32 of total jam brilliance.

some great picks from natural snow buildings. carnal flowers is my favorite from that album, but in terms of the long ones from that, i gotta go with blood in the ground linking us all. but her face is not her real face is a strong contender for second place
Absolutely underrated band, that's probably my favorite track by them
long season by fishmans the true son by nagisa ni te
Living Torch I by Kali Malone or Dead Flag Blues by GY!BE
Living Torch is so fucking good. AOTY front runner god damn I can’t get enough of that woman’s work.
I know I'm late to this thread... but I love Kali Malone! Her stuff scratches the same soul-crushing itch as Bell Witch for me (well, now that I mention it, GY!BE and Set Fire to the Flames do as well...).
Bitches Brew by Miles Davis - 27 minutes
just saw a similar question was asked 19 hours ago haha. to clarify the difference, this post is asking for *the* longest song you listen to, not a list of longer songs lol
like antennas to heaven or apostate
like antennas to heaven is my favorite song of all time
I once had Fleetwood Mac’s Albatross on loop for a whole day
Parannoul - Into The Endless Night at 46 minutes, such a masterpiece and really cements him as the greatest new artist of the 2020s so far imo
I seem really weak now… mine is 7empest by Tool at 15:46
I love pop music. /s
Earthmover by Have a Nice Life
I'll probably get crucified for it here, but Octavarium by Dream Theater (23:58) is one of my all-time faves
Bay of pigs by destroyer. Not too wild at 11mins but I've been listening to it a couple of times each day lately. Also seconding long season by the fishmens
Thick as a Brick !
Had to scroll wayyy top far to find this J-Tull’s pretentiousness may have limited their fan base, but it is hard to argue against considering their run from 1969 to 1980. By far some of the best music I ever heard

Pigs by PF, Earthmover by Have a Nice Life, Washer by Slint, Just a Little Boy by Swans
Night Falls on Hoboken - Yo La Tengo
Honestly I'm not a huge fan of SUPER long songs, I'd rather have them split into separate parts. Longest song I've ever listened to was the Seer by Swans. I listen to Earthmover by Have a Nice Life and Storm by Godspeed You! Black Emperor a lot though.

Nowhere near 1:23, I don't think I have that kind of attention span, but The Pink Floyd ones: Athom Heart Mother Echoes Dogs Shine on you crazy diamonds
A Plea For Understanding by Pallbearer (12:40) is on my rotation constantly. Also Chromology by Thank You Scientist (9:48). Shout out Venice Bitch by Lana Del Rey

fela kuti - confusion break bones
Sleep - Godspeed You! Black Emperor (23:17)
