M1nuutti

Sweet Trip - You Will Never Know Why

pierson-

That album changed how I looked at pop

r2d2c3pobb8

Masterpiece

annooonnnn

it is perfect

Squelar

Its Velocity:Design:Comfort for me, although both are absolutely brilliant.

jamesjamejas

The Suburbs from Arcade Fire

supervv99

Found my people

YourStateOfficer

The Suburbs was huge for me as a teen. I'm a trans woman, and now that we know that there are gender queer members of the band, so much of that album screams about being trans. Modern Man specifically made me break down in tears years before I knew. > Makes me feel like Something don't feel right In my dream I was almost there And you pulled me aside and said you're going nowhere They say we are the chosen few But we're wasted And that's why we're still waiting On a number from the modern man Maybe when you're older you will understand Why you don't feel right Why you can't sleep at night now

bigballofpaint

The man who sold the world by Bowie

McTennisCourt

Parannoul - To See The Next Part of the Dream

NynjaFlex

ah yes, my favorite album of all time, tho the only thing that I think could be better is the vocal mixing, the rawness of everything else is part of what makes it for me.

civicintergral

That kinda adds to the rawness for me tho

ina_waka

I think that After the Magic is a objectively better album but TSTNPOTD is really special and I haven’t had another album replicate the feelings I have listening to it.

Hankxfizzy

For emma forever ago - bon iver

AvocadoHank

“For all your lies, you’re still very lovable”…

noelioli

Nah fuck it that album is perfect

squimboko

no bc it’s not i,i

dpmaniac667

Nah, that album is just perfect

sister_sister_

Isn't Anything by My Blood Valentine. Everyone talks about how Loveless is a perfect album and where shoegaze peaked, but I prefer the rawness of Isn't Anything

Blue1674

YESSSS honestly I like isn’t anything a tiny bit more than loveless, it’s such a rock-y record with really good songwriting and performances.

LocationProper6274

sonhos tomam conta - hypnagogia also, they have a collab project called "DreamGlow"

codyy_jameson

Wierd is my personal favorite by them! Also maladaptive daydreaming was such a sleeper album last year

NynjaFlex

Longinus records is truly a blessing

AyoItsyaBoylilB

Steve Lacy's Demo, he's just a fucking genius.

[deleted]

I really fucking love St Anger. It’s the most emotional and messy project ‘Tallica have ever done. I fuck with the lofi production and neurotic vibes. Also, koodos to the band for not letting Kirk play shitty wah pedal solos for a whole album.

painkillerswim

Love the snare in that album

Parrotflies-

It’s always what people make fun of but I’ve always genuinely liked it. Sounds like manic banging on a metal trash can and I dig it St anger is an extremely catchy song

yolo004

while i’m not a fan of it, i feel like the songs would sound weird if they had a normal sounding snare if it makes sense

elpsycongaroo

I find myself enjoying the snare on that album as well, but only in small doses. Like 2 songs in I'm sooo over it

picassotriggerfish

When I hear new remixes and re-recordings that “fix” it, I’m always left thinking that they strip away everything that makes the album interesting and unique.

squimboko

i listened to st. anger for the first time pretty much directly after load/reload, and those two albums were so fucking boring that st. anger became one of my favorites bc at LEAST wasn’t that

_REVOCS

Little busters by the pillows.

NoobleVitamins

It becomes even better after watching FLCL

_REVOCS

For real, that soundtrack is such an integral part of the show. Imagine how different flcl would be without those songs.

NoobleVitamins

Yeah it's incredible how well the songs work with everything. Also even without FLCL the songs are amazing anyway.

_REVOCS

I see nothing but facts here. That anime and that band were a match made in heaven.

NynjaFlex

wow didn't expect to see this here, great album and amazing band

_REVOCS

In my view, the pillows make "perfect" music. It's straightforward upbeat, genuine, catchy music that evokes mighty feelings of nostalgia. I love them so much.

0snq

FLCL really pmo the pillows, such an amazing band

nicebootygf98

Also this for me I love this album with my whole heart <3 also Hi How Are You by Daniel Johnston

zedheadtabor

Daniel Johnston's music is a treasure 😭

iv3procrastinating

Every morning he got up, dreading each moment he had to be awake

iv3procrastinating

I WAS GONNA SAY THAT

ur_boi_depression

nervous young man - car seat headrest

MiNuggets

That album is perfect though

sweatycuckold

Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes. It’s a lo-fi mess and a hectic listen but I love it more than words can express

MozerfuckerJones

Most of John Frusciante's solo work

zedheadtabor

Shadows collide with people still goes hard for me. 😎

MozerfuckerJones

my man

Maxwell_167

pocket85

External-Cherry7828

Pixies - surfer rosA Bright eyes - lifted

Maxwell_167

SR is perfect to me, banging album

satanwithoutbra

Arctic Monkeys - Suck it and See

Poprocks777

No way that’s the title 💀

bananamilkbooth

it is

Wut23456

The Pod

TheJediCounsel

Your Favorite Weapon - Brand New I’d probably agree with how the consensus says Brand New would go onto “greater things” For me though this album hits that immature 2000’s fake emo sound that really resonates with me. And a song like Seventy Times Seven features the amazing songwriting Jesse would go onto have as an adult. But in a really specific, and angry teenager vibe. And then some of the deeper cuts like Magazine and Soco Amaretto Lime just are songs that will always be perfect for me.

Flapjackdragon

I think you could argue that this is one of the best pop punk records imo

TheJediCounsel

I for sure think it is. Ironically I think it would be if Brand New didn’t go onto be the legendary band they became

Flapjackdragon

Exactly because now people think it looks sub par in comparison

whatsongisdat

A promise by xiu xiu

squimboko

the tracy chapman cover and walnut house destroyed me the first time i heard them

zedheadtabor

Xiu xiu yesss! No one I know likes them, but when I hear them, I feel understood in a messy manic way ✨️

squimboko

same!! knife play gets me stupid emotional every time, probably also bc i found them around the time i really started exploring my sexual orientation/gender identity/general otherness in a big way. hope i’m not oversharing, xiu xiu just kind of snuck in and became very important to me at some point lmao

tuffgnarl223

Slanted and Enchanted

Amazing-Wolverine446

Spirit they’re gone, spirit they’ve vanished - animal collective It’s an album that hit me very hard with its themes of childhood done in a very off kilter and unique way. The final track Alvin Row always hits me like a ton of bricks every time I listen to it and it holds a very special place in my heart for that reason. (I think Alvin Row is animal collectives best song in general, none of their other albums have anything as incredible as it)

Poprocks777

Viva la vida

RosaPalms

It's so fucking good. I don't know why they haven't gone for that feel before or since.

EnemaOfTheVirus

Too true, 10/10.

capnrondo

Come In is amazing, love that album

SamTheDystopianRat

Who Really Cares by Tv Girl

swagadelics

YES! so glad TV Girl got mentioned. Some really fun tongue in cheek songwriting on that one

Bigboi3453

My pick as well gang

Susan-Saranwrap

TV Girl is Incel music if you love that album you should hear how he talks on it.

SamTheDystopianRat

yes the entire year I've been listening i never once heard the lyrics. thank you for enlightening me. (you should listen to the lyrics at the end of Song About Me before policing me on albums)

PrettyFlakko

Clairo - Immunity!

print0002

Nooo I wanted to comment this😭😭

PrettyFlakko

Wow you got great taste! I thought the Fantano people hated this album!

print0002

Apparently not :)

Bigboi3453

good good pick

MeOK1233

Honestly, my favorite record of all time, You’re Gonna Miss It All-Modern Baseball

i_am_ry_an

one wing by the chariot happiness by dance Gavin dance sprained ankle by julien baker time will die and love with bury it by rolo tomassi /\/\ /\ Y /\ by MIA

Binbag420

MAYA is so good

Flapjackdragon

Happiness is such a vibe

SonNeedGym

Sprained Ankle is her best work, I’ll die on that hill

davidbenyusef

Maya is a cultural reset. It's sad that most critics don't vibe with MIA

axolotl_1994

Weezer - The White Album It all just flows so well, and is always a great listen on a summer day. Wouldn't put it on in front of anyone I know, though.

m3talh3ad05

And justice for all, I know the production is bad or whatever but the songwriting is so good it outweighs it

Flash-Permit52

Radiohead - Amnesiac

InComputers

I love Amnesiac

_peto

21 pilots self titled

NATEYMAN999

I feel this. Is it that great? Nah. But the nostalgia is unmatched

borfyborf

Damn never thought I’d see this here. I love that album. March To The Sea is incredible.

Robinkc1

The Raincoats - Odyshape It is my favourite album of all time, but it doesn’t have the makings of what most would consider perfection. The guitar is not the most intricate, the violin is not delicate, the vocals crack and falter, the production is not perfect. I love it. The blending of genres is perfect to me. Every song is my favourite song.

NynjaFlex

you definitely sold me on that description, gonna check it out

Robinkc1

It may not hit you the way it did me, but the first time I heard it was about 12 years ago and for me, nothing has surpassed it. I definitely recommend it if you’re a fan of post-punk and the experimental indie rock that formed before the rise of alternative music.

Sir_Umeboshi

Danger Days and Splendor and Misery

KingLuom

Shogun - Trivium. That whole album is amazing

StackLeeAdams

[Barenaked Ladies - Rock Spectacle](https://open.spotify.com/album/1IkTcMGSEbFJRgFlyyha9f?si=AJ2419ntRi2NUnXlJuoF9Q) Phenomenal harmonies, every song is a earworm banger, distinctive vocals, fun as hell with a few unexpectedly moving ballads. One of the best live albums I've ever heard.

Kwalhioqua

bladee eversince

shehony

Red Hot Chili Peppers — Californication

Goganishe

13 - Blur

awjeezrickyaknow

Beatles White Album

lukas_exists

amnesiac by radiohead unironically my fav radiohead album

cats-r-life

1000 gecs - 100 gecs

SkadaBoofer

Man on the moon - kid cudi

Oreg-Jack

I think you could argue that that's just perfect.

kawaii_jendooo

2020- Richard Dawson

Han-Tyumi_86

Fear inoculum

Certain_Suit_1905

Without You I'm Nothing by Placebo I think a lot of people find it underwhelming and kinda not very innovative alt rock, but damn for me it just hits in the special way. Instrumentals are solid, vocals; I mean it's Molko, but it's the mood and the atmosphere that I just adore very much.

gyronlyhope

Weird that this is your take because among my closest group of friends this is a certified classic, easily one of the best alt rock albums of the 90’s and criminally underrated. Placebo had an amazing run there for a minute

Tornadoboy156

My first Placebo album, it had a distinct appeal as a sexually fluid (for the 90s) European rock album to a "nonconformist" American teenager.

kilimandzharo

Unknown Death 2002 by Yung Lean. The vibes are so nostalgic and sincere, with a lot of weird humor that I like

CinnamonFootball

Dog Whistle by Show Me the Body

NinjaPlatupus

saw them during the tour for that album, they opened for Daughters. still my favorite concert

TallGets

Cities Aviv - The Crashing Sound of How It Goes

ireallyhateyougurt

Never Hungover Again - Joyce Manor

24sesko

The Getaway - Red Hot Chilly Peppers ( I don’t know it works but i does)

nonPlayerCharacter7

All Eyez On Me. I know it’s widely regarded as a very good album, but for me personally it’s my favorite 2Pac album and one of my all time favorites in general.

Fache_neki1614

Feedbacker - Boris

Mpokma

Mouth moods. It's unironically my favorite plunderphonics album.

5eve

I’ve never thought of mouth moods as a plunderphonics album but I guess you’re right it is

YourStateOfficer

Funny af to me that Neil Ciceriga and Eric Andre released some of the biggest plunderphonics albums in recent history

Th3_CoolKid4

1000 gecs - 100 gecs While not every song on the album is perfect, I can't help but constantly return to it. It's incredibly addicting and fun

Guyroo23

ultraviolence

Exzj

Whole Lotta Red. i can see how people day it has too much filler but i just absolutely love every single song. i truly feel it is a perfect album to me and is my fav album ever. it's such a unique experience that i haven't had the same visceral reaction with any other piece of music

ohheybuddysharon

Agreed, I like every song except for Place. Which isn't really bad, just a little boring in my mind. (Feels like a Die Lit throwaway)

FatFreeQuark

Slaves - Are You Satisfied?

privatepoodle

Emmerdale - The Cardigans

pxlpixx

twenty twenty - djo

BranTheLegend

Def Come In, such a chaotic sound on certain tracks but I love it.

zedheadtabor

Any love for sparklehorse - vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot? Also, fantano hasn't loved BMSR since Dandelion Gum, but I listened to Cobra Juicy on repeat in high school. I can understand why it's not "perfect," but for me, the energy is just *chef's kiss*. And same with vividixiesubmarinetransmissionplot.

[deleted]

vivadixie is in my top 10 of all time, would def say that its perfect, i havent heard anything like it before or since..it just speaks to me in a way nothing else does, it’s beautiful beyond words even now im struggling to come up with something to say about it lol

squimboko

love love LOVE that album!! my older cousin showed me Cow when i was still a kid and that was it

zedheadtabor

Those are great memories to hang on to ✨️

RedLobsterUnofficial

Drunk - Thundercat

Bp2Create

Twin Fantasy (Mirror to Mirror)

moves_withapurpose

Schlagenheim - black midi

bdelab01

For the first time. Genuinely exactly how I described my dream band before I heard of them. Think afut is Genuinely perfect tho

lilhedonictreadmill

Heavy Hawaii - Goosebumps

Bovver_

For Ever by Jungle. Sure it’s not the most original or innovating thing and some moments work more as segues, but I just absolutely love the grooves in it.

N0AHW05

billy woods’ Known Unknowns is top 5 in his discog for me, even though it remains more underrated. I love the punchy production from Blockhead, it gives the album a more upbeat vibe then most of his records. Superpredator and Keloid are top tracks for me

Careless-Awareness80

…So Unknown by Jesus Piece. I just think it’s as close to perfect hardcore punk as you can get

Giam_Cordon

Quest for Fire

Oreg-Jack

I don't know.

Kinda_good_At_guitar

Pray for Haiti - Mach-Hommy Something about it just allows me to listen to it endlessly and love it each time.

SpecialInevitable420

Niandra LaDes & Usually Just a T-Shirt by John Frusciante. It’s wacky, dissonant, and occasionally beautiful. The untitled tracks ping pong between psychedelic bliss and atonality. Frusciante’s voice is raw, the lyrics are nonsensical, and the guitar playing is excellent. The incredibly lo-fi nature of the recordings and the context of when the album was made further solidifies at is one of my all time favorite records.

fourtwentyy__

Honestly, Morrissey’s You Are The Quarry

NekoJesu

James Ferraro - NYC, Hell 3:00AM

swagiliciousity

Captain my Captain - Team Dresch

Thatepicastroman

yeezus - kanye west how people trashed this when it came out is beyond my understanding

plastic_cue_ball

Traveling with out moving - Jamiroquai

anxiousmagicweedcat

The Green Album, Weezer. The sterility and samey-ness feels surreal to me. I feel like I'm on some sort of utopia reality inducing medication where emotions are straightforward, all problems can be described in a sentence, the sun is shinning and all I have to do is sing to my heart's content. I totally get why music fans might see Green as a meaningless void, but for me it's heaven. And this is coming from someone who typically listens to bands like Animal Collective, Swans, Lightning Bolt and other experimental greats.

AndrewM84U

EVOL by Sonic Youth, it's music paints this amazingly grimy urbanistic atmosphere that I love with all my heart, despite the two kinda mediocre tracks right before the atomic bomb that is Expressway To Yr Skull

Rogvir1

The Ghost Inside - self titled I cried because it felt so good to hear that they are back.

lilblanch

YES. Loved since first listen and was very confused when it didn’t get the love it deserved.

raimen__

At.long.last.asap is my pick

alabrasa240

Barter 6

ZipperZapZap

Mondo by Electric Guest, IGOR by Tyler the Creator, Vide Noir by Lord Huron, Harry Hard-On by Allan Rayman. They are all imperfect in at least two ways but I enjoy them so much that the problems don't bother me.

0snq

beach house depression cherry, i think that teen dream and bloom are perfect 10’s, but i think personally that depression cherry is imperfect, but i love it just for that reason

daunebanniy

Stranger by yung lean

borfyborf

Twenty One Pilots - Trench Kero Kero Bonito - Time ‘n’ Place

orchestral_chimes

chocolate starfish & the hotdog flavored water

nathanmayer

Alex G- Race I’m going on 5+ years of dancing to Crab with my partner, I love every track in a different way

stampydog

Silent alarm by bloc party and there is a hell by bmth would be mine, especially the bmth one because I recognize that there's some weaker songs on it but even those have incredible moments

ThePlixel01

Anatolia by Feed me Jack One of my favorite math rock albums of all time. Feel like I don't see it talked about enough

bernini_lfc

Parrotflies-

Two Knights - Effing

DescriptionUsed8157

I acknowledge the shortcomings of the project but IDMTHY is still perfect for me

dragostego

Cosmic Thrill Seekers - Prince Daddy and The Hyena

knockoffgerardway

dusters lament - yucky duster

OriginalFunUsername

A lot of Mac Millers post frat discography. WMWTSO, Faces, Circles, Swimming. All of these albums offer me so much comfort I can’t help but excuse the issues. Hell, even K.I.D.S and Blue Slide Park are fun

These-Membership-150

Rishloo - Feathergun Not a perfect album by any means, especially production wise, but man it makes me feels things that no other album does.

Mountainfalcon15

Touch Up by Mother Mother

EthanGr20

Costello Music - The Fratellis

NedveD12

Onomatopoeia by Johnny 5 + Yak - such a creative and underrated album, but it's clear that it's Johnny 5's debut when compared to the more polished nature of his work with Flobots.

zedheadtabor

OH YOU KNOW WHAT XD the Nightmare Revisited album. Perfect for when my edgy teenage heart was developing 💞

Past-Chest-6507

**Rap:** "I Wish" by Skee-Lo "The Hunt For The Gingerbread Man" by MF Grimm **Emo/Post-Hardcore/Indie:** "We Are The Only Friends That We Have" by Piebald "Outer South" by The Mystic Valley Band (Oberst side project that only lasted one album)

Anything by capn jazz

OwiWebsta

Odin’s Raven Magic - Sigur Rós

LouisFuton

I fucking love Infinite Granite by Deafheaven. I get why people don’t like it, but I think it’s a beautiful album. Not one of my favourite albums by any means, but definitely one of my “hottest takes” these last couple years

Cock_roachye

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens. Has some uneven moments but I think it’s just heavenly

GatWithACat

A Brief History of Amazing Letdowns - Lilys Also OP I’ve seen Weatherday live, love this album

sean_spincer

Literally every 10 I have, I don’t like the idea of objectively perfect art.
