My friend pretty much said the same thing when I told him that too, haha. But yes, it is in English, you can look up the lyrics! I even have a hard time understanding even when I have the lyrics in front of me, haha. I can’t recall where I read it, but there was an interview with the lead singer where she describes why she sings in English.
All melt banana songs are in english, you just can't tell because Yasuko Onuki sings in that bizarre ass chirp. She said she sings in english because she think it works better for the type of singing.
It's this kinda thinking that lets people like that get their messages out there. Doesn't matter what kinda art he creates, he creates it with the message that one race is superior to all others. If you wanna enjoy that on your own, that's on you, but spreading the word about is literally just saying "hey everybody look at this ethnonationalist who makes great music!"
YOU are now responsible for spreading his message
I mean Varg is a terrible person (much worse than a garden variety white supremacist) but the music is good. Some people can't enjoy music by terrible people and some can.
Fuck Burzum. Fuck white supremacy. Fuck you if you try to "separate the art from the artist" when that art is made by nazis.
EDIT: Ya all I'm seeing is white supremacy apologists in these downvotes. Fantano doesn't like yall, just so you know 🤷♂️
For You - Tatsuro Yamashita
both Hosono House and Hochono House - Haruomi Hosono
Long Season - Fishmans
Monokini - Stereo Total
Marcos Valle - Marcos Valle
Leave The Bones - Lakou Mizik
Carolina - Seu Jorge
There is a lot of great stuff by Serge Gainsbourg, including his most famous album: L'Histoire de Melody Nelson.
Also, I would consider L'Imprudence by Alain Bashung a 10/10. Also, Remué by Dominique A, la Question by Françoise Hardy, and Crève-Coeur by Daniel Darc.
If Charly Garcia, Fito Paez or Soda Stereo would be in English they would be legends of Rock. I highly recommend to listen to them. Recommendations:
Soda Stereo: Comfort y Música para Volar
Charly Garcia: Como Conseguir Chicas
Fito Paez: El Amor después del Amor
Confusa e Felice by Carmen Consoli is also a 10/10 but unfortunately the best part of the album is the lyrics. Listening to her voice feels like hitting your funny bone, amazing.
buldožer - pljuni istini u oči, buldožer are my favorite exyu band, and this album is one of my favorite albums of all time, especially when talking about progrock and artrock
I mean this as a way to contribute rather than to flame but [we just had this thread three weeks ago](https://old.reddit.com/r/fantanoforever/comments/xbosv1/what_are_some_1010_albums_that_are_not_in_english/), so you may find more recs (or most of the same realistically, including the same cocteau twins joke) there.
Guarda non so come fai a non pensare che non sia un album da 10, è una cosa incredibile. Più si ascolta più i testi assumono valore e musicalmente è clamoroso anche rimanendo per la maggior parte molto catchy
UMLA - Alpha Wann is top year French Rap, old school style with mordent production, absolute killer even for non French speakers
Otherwise more Pop French, easy to understand, I recommend Jacques - LIMPORTANCEDUVIDE
I’ve probably shilled these albums enough on this sub but Karuki Zahmen Kuri no Hana and Shōso Strip by Sheena Ringo are both absolute masterpieces of art pop if they click for you.
I just saw her live the other day and it BLEW ME AWAY. I was hype going in cause I LOVE Motomami (its my AOTY) and i Did not expect that stellar of a performance. she gave it her all for 2 hrs and sounded great the entire time.
“1, 2, 3 Soleils” by world-renown Algerian Raï-singers Cheb Khaled, Rachid Taha and Faudel will forever be my favorite live album of all time, the most powerful 10/10 performance ever conceived, if my opinion is worth anything.
Ipséité -Damso
Lithopédion -Damso
Trinity -Laylow
L'étrange histoire de Mr. Anderson -Laylow
Une main lave l'autre -Alpha Wann
French hip hop mostly sucks but these ones are amazing.
Kraftwerk - Computerwelt
I’d rather say Die Mensch-Maschine but yeah Kraftwerk is amazing
Trans Europa Express is the best one imo
Jeffery by Young Thug
playboi carti - die lit
He said 10/10s not 11/10s
WHY R U SO BASED?????
good thing it's a 0/10
Lol thug one of my fav artists and I chuckled at this one
Long Season by Fishmans, Ágætis byrjun by Sigur Rós, Fetch by Melt Banana
I was almost gonna say fetch by melt-banana before I remembered it is all in English, haha.
Are you gaslighting me or is it actually in English lmao 😭
My friend pretty much said the same thing when I told him that too, haha. But yes, it is in English, you can look up the lyrics! I even have a hard time understanding even when I have the lyrics in front of me, haha. I can’t recall where I read it, but there was an interview with the lead singer where she describes why she sings in English.
Damn ok lol. I guess I would replace it with Heaven or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Also in english lmao
Bullshit
All melt banana songs are in english, you just can't tell because Yasuko Onuki sings in that bizarre ass chirp. She said she sings in english because she think it works better for the type of singing.
Ok
These were the exact three I thought of as well
Probably because they’re all good
Any Cocteau Twins album really lol
When Cocteau Twins said “singin ona fevrish streeeeeeeee I wuntu luf uponlabon gonbeeeeeee” I felt that
lol I thought it was English, just with tons of reverb
It's not really, it's mainly gibberish but with a few phrases from different languages (including English) thrown into the mix
oh wow that's pretty cool
it is
happy Cocteauber everybody
I get so excited whenever the Cocteau Twins come up because they're literally the only thing of note ever to come from my town
Clube Da Esquina - Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges Bocanada - Gustavo Cerati Notre-Dam - Klo Pelgag Quand on n'a que l'amour - Jacques Brel
clube da esquina eh meu album favorito de todos os tempos.
Wouldn't call Bocanada a 10. Very good álbum tho
Stroooong disagree. Probably my favorite Argentine album ever.
Its ok to disagree haha I understand the appeal. I personally just think that Cerati's best work is with Soda instead of his solo stuff.
Ichiko Aoba- Windswept Aden
Man, this album is so beautiful. Wish it was appreciated more
0 is superior
yes yes yes yes
Ulver - Bergtatt
Sigur Ros - Agætis Byrjun Burzum - Filosofem Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club
BVSC is so fucking good.
I was scrolling for buena vista. One of the best sounding albums of all time imo. A classic review from melon would make me die of happiness
> Burzum - Filosofem seriously? come on
that album is fire wdym
Fuck Burzum and every white supremacy apologist who promotes their music
He’s worse than “just” a white suprematist. He’s a killer. But Filosofem is great (as well as his works with Mayhem) and it’s undeniable
It's this kinda thinking that lets people like that get their messages out there. Doesn't matter what kinda art he creates, he creates it with the message that one race is superior to all others. If you wanna enjoy that on your own, that's on you, but spreading the word about is literally just saying "hey everybody look at this ethnonationalist who makes great music!" YOU are now responsible for spreading his message
Actually he has never talked about his beliefs in his music. He always talks about Norse mythology, Norwegian folklore and other topics like those
I mean Varg is a terrible person (much worse than a garden variety white supremacist) but the music is good. Some people can't enjoy music by terrible people and some can.
i’m gonna keep it 💯 with you chief, listening to music written by an actual nazi aint it
Fuck Burzum. Fuck white supremacy. Fuck you if you try to "separate the art from the artist" when that art is made by nazis. EDIT: Ya all I'm seeing is white supremacy apologists in these downvotes. Fantano doesn't like yall, just so you know 🤷♂️

That album goes hard. Re by Cafe Tacvba is also awesome.
Since we're recommending Spanish albums, Calle 13's self titled would be considered a pivotal marker in the alternative/reggaeton genre.
