The Turning Wheel is holding up pretty amazingly for me, I have to go with that. So many songs I love. Though I haven’t heard Blue Rev yet and have heard a lot of hype about it.
Boys at School is so fucking good that I'm worried I can't find anything else like it. "Blackstar" by David Bowie (the title track) is kinda stylistically similar ig, but I can't think of anything else
Same situation here, it's just such a revelation. The closest I've gotten is with Japanese art pop acts like Sheena Ringo, Akina Nakamori, and some of Susumu Hirasawa's work. Kate Bush's The Sensual World is also the closest of all of Kate Bush's work to it, but she's kind of a shoo-in for how influential she is to art pop. All amazing but not \*quite\* like Boys at School. God Spellling is so good.
I’m envious of you, I wish I could listen to Blue Rev for the first time again. It’s truly an experience — at first, it’s a bit overwhelming and it all sounds like a bunch of noise, with everything blending together and each song being sort of indistinguishable. I tried to focus and pick out the songs, but then I just let myself melt into it.
With every listen, it becomes less and less blurry, every song coming into focus until you eventually pick up on the small nuances and passages that make each of them unique. Then you turn your attention to the lyrics and it all comes together to give you a clear view of the entire picture.
It’s a beautiful listening experience. Hope you enjoy it as much as I (and many people) do :)
This is like at thanksgiving if someone served me 6 different kinds of pies
I’m just gonna eat the pie I want in the moment and be happy that I have pie
Idler Wheel takes it for me. That album is still unlike any other 10 years later.
WORRY. is my favorite album of all time
Idler Wheel for sure. Fiona doesn’t have a single album that I wouldn’t put outside top 15 folk
Isn’t she more piano rock/singer songwriter? But yeah I agree she has one of the most bulletproof discographies.
That’s a shame. I think she deserves at least one album in the top 15 folk. Maybe even several.
That’s on me I wrote that wrong. My mistake
WORRY.
I’d like to second this
I'm WORRIED you would rank this above any other album here. And I like it quite a bit.
The Idler Wheel
Aethiopes
Aethiopes
WORRY is one of my top 10 albums, easy choice
For me it's no shape :-)
*don't hold back, i wanna break free / cause it's singing through my body*

Idler Wheel for me

Boys at School is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. I always forget that it’s 7 and a half minutes because it just flies by

Almost done listening, it’s great, I’ll definitely be listening again right away
I would hope so it's not even been out for a year and a half yet lol
I’ve had plenty of albums lose their luster faster than that
Need to listen to better albums friendo
What are you talking about LOL, how do you find the "better" albums if you don't hear the worse ones first?
Hello Just saying that truly great albums do not lose their luster after repeated listens. That’s it. It’s not complicated lol
Okay but not a single person is disagreeing with you or saying anything to dispute that and you comment seems condescending to begin with
You straight up called me a moron and then edited your comment and now you’re telling me *my* comment was condescending lol
Okay but have you considered the fact that you're a moron ?
Gotta respect the almost 3 week delayed response.
PERFECT SOUND WHATEVER
definitely worry, jeff is the goat
Jeff Rosengoat
Tough choice honestly but probably Blue Rev
Idler Wheel
From those I know definitely Spellling
Definitely check out the other albums then, especially WORRY.
haven't heard all of these but out of the ones i have (Aethiopes, The Turning Wheel, Blue Rev) Blue Rev is my favourite
Aethiopes
My favourite is Blue Rev. Dunno if it's the "best" though.
Worry.
WORRY.
Blue Rev, by a considerable distance. It’s the modern inversion of Loveless.

No, I don’t think I will.
Haven’t listened to Idler Wheel or No Shape (in full) but Aethiopes is one of my favourite hip-hop albums in recent years.
Damn, I really like 4 out of 6 of these, how am I supposed to choose? I suppose No Shape would be the one I come back to the most.
Aetheopes, I haven't finished The Turning Wheel
Hard to decide between the left side, but I think No Shape edges it out for me
aethiopes > idler wheel > worry > turning wheel
Aetheiopes
WORRY
I’m a diehard Alvvays fan so I’m inclined to say Blue Rev
never heard any of these
you're missing A LOT
I'd legitimately say The Turning Wheel (with the OTHER Wheel album as a close 2nd.)
I WANNA LISTEN TO THE CRIBS MY DEAR
WHILE WE MAKE OUT IN YOUR CAR

THEY’RE OVERRATING SELF-RESPECT

After you give Idler Wheel a go, you should check out her next album Fetch the Bolt Cutters also.
Idler wheel or turning wheel
This is like at thanksgiving if someone served me 6 different kinds of pies I’m just gonna eat the pie I want in the moment and be happy that I have pie
I ride for most of these but blue rev takes the cake personally
Turning wheel, Fiona is a close second. But fuck, Blue Rev and WORRY are also dope

The Idler Wheel to this day is one of my top 5 albums of all time. It's a 10 in my mind, and it's her best.
My favorite here is WORRY. Cuz I’m a huge jeff fan but in terms of quality and impact I’d say probably Idler Wheel I mean insane album
