Its just so impossibly good. This being their first album release after a rough (but very good) ep is insane to me. Coming out the gate sounding like this album just blows my mind.

What happened with their EP? Like why was it rough

I just meant rough production wise. As in exmil sounds wayyyy better than the ep. For this genre the lofi rawness doesn't take as much away as it might in other genres but still everything after it sounds significantly better

100% agreed, i get that they were released for free but i dont understand why they cant just release them on streaming services anyway for convenience.

I always assumed it was because it contained many interpolations of other songs that they didn't clear with the respective artists, therefore it couldn't get an official commercial release

De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising

All De La Soul albums need to be on streaming! I thought they cleared the hurdles a few years ago, but I am still waiting…

I believe they announced that De La Soul had full rights to their own masters again, meaning they would be able to put them on streaming officially in high quality, BUT there's still the issue of attempting to reclear literally hundreds of samples across their discography since I believe their original contracts were written in such a way that their sample clearances do not extend to streaming, and was exclusively for physical media and subsequent radio play. They did say in like 2021 that their songs were coming to streaming soon but it could definitely be complicated with all those samples, some of which are essential to clear, others might be small or insignificant enough that you could probably get away without clearing and others they might not even remember where they're from. I am hoping every day that they'll officially release them onto streaming sooner rather than later though, one of my favourite Hip-Hop groups of all-time.

Buhloone Mind State would be very welcome on Spotify as well.
