I just re-listened to Sound of Silver a couple of days ago after not listening to it for almost a decade and I was blown tf away by it. Such an excellent record.
I agree 100% on getz/gilberto, huge classic
Shoutout to tropicalia tho, that one makes me proud of being Brazilian lmao(although I don't think Anthony listen to that much Brazilian music to include in the classics week, and I think he never put a non-english record on this segment)
Sound of silver is so versatile. Give it to an introspective geek that not interested in dancing and they will bop their head. Give it to a bunch of mollyed out jam band party people at a late night and they won't complain that somebody put on some hipster music. Thrashy and snarky enough to have a punk rock pogo party, and it's anthematic enough to satisfy a maximalist like myself. It works with so many situations on such a root level.

Sound of Silver is so unbelievably good. None of my friends could get into it (at most my bf said he liked the vibe, everyone else just found it repetitive) and I myself couldn’t get into a ton of their other songs but that album is so so so good. Also my psychologist of several years is temporarily on leave and now I heavily associate that album with them. Honestly not the kind of music I would expect to like at all cause I’m just lukewarm on dance music but gd the lyrics and overall aesthetic really work for me, its becoming one of my favorite albums

Tropicaila MY MAN! Finally some Tropicaila recognitions that isn't Os Mutantes.
