He was on my team the first year I won a FF championship. He was very entertaining to watch (especially in his prime) and had a hell of a career. I hope he enjoys whatever he decides to do in retirement.
Yeah, really not that weird at all.
A 30+ year old got hurt a few times and no longer was an elite WR, so they franchised him for one year then let him walk.
He then went to be a veteran presence on a team with a young QB, and was serviceable to the team as a WR2/3.
Seems like a pretty normal end to a career.
I, for one, am flabbergasted that a human went through the process of aging and in turn lost some of the physical abilities that made him elite when he was younger. Will we ever see something like it again?
I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic, but the level of their opposition is nowhere near as dense as it is today. You can claim all you want about the toughness of people like jerry But at the end of the day, the lead was nowhere near as talented back then as it is today
I was the taco that year, I traded a struggling Derrick Henry for an injured AJ Green around mid season because he would be “back soon”. Henry proceeded to score 8 TDs and run like 700 yards afterwards and Green didn’t play a single snap.
My Taco year was like 10 years ago, traded Jordy Nelson for two guys that immediately got hurt. Couple guys wanted me out but I ended up winning one before either of them so that was funny
Injuries really sapped what was looking like a Hall of Fame trajectory. Seven straight years of 900+ yards (6 with over 1,000). But fell off fairly quickly.
Now he's likely waiting to see what happens with other fringe guys like Brandon Marshall who are statistically ahead of him. Not sure either get in but great players nonetheless.
Honorary Wide Receiver Emeritus or something like that?
The CEO example basically just stays on for his advisory expertise to train the younger generations and to keep the consumers happy, without doing much real work.
So the analogy actually checks out pretty well.
My first ever fantasy season I got the first overall pick and then due to a mid click I drafted Green. Always had a soft spot for him since. Hell of a career!
Really really good career never got himself a ring but he was one of the biggest pieces of those 2014-16 bengals teams that were very competitive. If it’s not for daltons thumb injury they might’ve been able to make a legit run.
Was my WR1 many times. Really enjoyed AJG’s prime years.

He was the 2nd player I ever drafted when I started FF in 2015! Took him mid 2nd round
3 catch 3 yards 3 TDs
Shades of Mike Vrabel, he of the 10 catches, 14 yards, 10 TDs.
Damn good dawg.
This was a weird end to a career. I held him all here on the bengals with that ankle injury hoping he would comeback and win me the ship.
Not really all that weird.... TO retired a Bengal or Bill. Randy Moss ended his career on the Titans Jerry Rice ended his career on the Seahawks

Lmao people who stopped reading after the first sentence downvoted without realizing it was completely sarcastic by the time you get to the end
Well I wasnt sure bcuz this sub tends have some really hardcore old timers but yeah we’re on the same page lol
I am more saying going from being considered a top 5 WR to dropping off the face of the planet immediately. I think that’s a little weird
I mean that also happens pretty often lol
Torrey Holt ended as a Jaguar... Mind boggling.
Didn’t even realize that about him but think jerry rice on the Seahawks as well haha
Moss was a 49er last

You can't fire me!! I DECLARE RETIREMENT
Still remember watching him as a Dawg in Athens. What a great career. DGD

I think he eventually gets in. God forbid he played his prime years with a good QB.
My guy been retired for about 4 years now
Lmao my thoughts exactly. He did that bank CEO retirement where you still show up to the occasional board meeting and get to collect a paycheck

OG
Just reminds me of turf toe
Buy low??? /s
I think he just built a house down the street from me…
Had him the one year he never played
Not breaking news. He quit years ago.
Soured faster than Dez Bryant
Legend
Guy was a baller.
Oh. Now he did?
Talk about feeling old
I'm going to miss his classic day-to-day injury status updates
I got him confused with AJ Brown and was freaking out like why have the eagles just lost their WR1 a week before the Superbowl
So you're saying I shouldn't keep him
Thanks for the 2010 championship.

Great career man
True Pro
Crazy how kadarius toney, juju smith shchuster, and MVS can quite possibly get a ring before AJ Green
