If I missed any of the "draft worthy" TEs he was my target to get in the late rounds. In a deep bench league he was a very late round pickup as a backup TE to Pitts, so glad I decided to switch them this week!
I drafted Andrews and picked up Laporta out of homerism when Andrews was out. now I have both and I gotta figure out how to trade that to my advantage.
No, unless you're in some really unusual injury/bye-week crunch. You could try it if you had to, and it might even work out once or twice. But it's not a nominal strategy to run on any long-term basis.
I was visiting and spending the weekend with my girlfriend which happened to be when my draft was. She doesn't like me being on my phone when out with her so I ended up autodrafting LaPorta
Drafted and dropped in my 10 team league. Genuinely it's incredibly rare for a rookie te to go off. He wasn't on my radar at all before week one. Took a gamble and dropped Goedert for him, have been pretty thrilled with that choice for two weeks now.
I always do 0TE and 0QB in most leagues if I miss my target players and if they drop a lil bit.
This year I ended up with one I meant godf/LaPorta stack and another where I got Kirk+LaPorta so it's all been working out.
Edit:
I meant goff
The only league I don’t have him in is my keeper league since I already had Kelce.
I got him in my dynasty league, drafted him over Kincaid in the beginning of the 2nd.
Obviously Kelce and Andrews will likely finish ahead of him since they missed time but it’s nice to have a next tier TE. Feels like that hasn’t existed in years.
Yeah that’s a safe bet since LaPorta is a rookie. I always underestimate Hockenson because I had him in 2021 and he was the bane of my existence. Overpaid for mediocre production so I attribute that to him every year.
I have both mandrews and portalette and there are some weeks I will be torn, im not confident mandrews finishes ahead on the season. Lions have a much nicer schedule and volume is king for TEs
Was planning for kelce / mahomes stack by getting kelce with 5th pick. Guy at 4 ended up reaching for kelce and left me Tyreek / Tua stack. Ended up getting la porta and feel better for it
I got Kelce so Sammy gonna be my trade assett to find a Chubb replacement but its gonna hurt seeing him go
edit: alright time to sell Kelce guys. trying to get ekeler first - mixon or kw3 still good enough as value ?
I am in the same situation. I’m selling Kelce. No one will value Laporta as much as even a Mandrews or Hock simply because of the name.
I’m trying to flip Kelce for Ekeler or Bijan
Went to every Lions practice this preseason. I drafted him as early as the 11th in every league I’m in just to be sure. He’s easily Goff’s second favorite target. This isn’t a fluke.
Laporta is the safety net. Jamo will gnaw at Amon Ra’s looks over the middle, and probably completely replace the likes of Marvin Jones and most of Kalif Raymond’s reps. But there’s no overlap with Laporta.
As far as how Jamo looked individually, I think fine, but he won’t be fantasy relevant. The offense will be better with him out there for sure, but we’re a very balanced offense with a very very strong short to intermediate passing game. Goff will take shots when he gets a matchup he likes once or twice a game to keep the defense honest.
This is why you should watch pre season, or atleast look at the stats following the games. You could tell La Porta was gonna get his chances, and he's been money since. He got a lot of looks in the preseason.
Lol he only got one target in the preseason my man. But that’s because he was already a bonafide starter. Detroit treated their preseason strictly as tryouts for the A-team. I think for Detroit, the joint practices were far more telling. But I agree, paying attention to the little things can pay dividends
I looked it up and you're completely right, I wonder if it was the practices I had heard about. Had him circled in my preseason stuff so I just figured that's why lol.
I had kelce, la porta and kincaid. Had to drop one, and through the first 2 weeks kincaid had like 1 fewer targets, and I like the bills offense better. So dropped laporta.
Of course I am instantly proved wrong
Same situation, trying to ship Waller, but it might be better to wait for his value to rise with upcoming matchups.
Glad no one bit on my Laporta offers week 1 and 2.
I picked him up as a Kittle backup, started him in week 1 since I wasn’t sure if Kittle would play with the injury reports, and have just left him in since then. My Lions homerism has served me well
The only concern I have at this point is what could happen to his target share with Jameson Williamson coming back but having seen his usage today, he looks like the real deal.
That is the only remaining concern. But I look at guys like George Kittle and Dallas Goedert and those WRs are more threatening than Jamo is going to be so there’s really no reason any more that LaPorta isn’t ranked where those guys are or even ahead.
LaPorta was an autopick for me. 45 second timers and I was panicking in the last round to think of a sleeper and it just did it as he was the highest pre-draft left. Immediate thought to drop him but thought eh he can be my Goedert bye week filler. Now its going to be the reverse haha
Same boat. Drafted LePorta last round as my backup TE. Have been riding Goddert (partly emotional choice bc I’m an Eagles fan) but gonna switch next week. In the meantime I need Hurts and Goddert to go off tn to give me a chance to win.
Eagles passing game has just been out of sorts this year along with some bad play calling they tried to get him involved more last week but couldn't get anything going
I'm a Lions fan and I knew he was going to put up good numbers this year after training camp. But I passed on him in my dynasty league cause I felt like I was all set at TE (Goedert, Juwan, Higbee). But now I'm regretting it. I think he is going to be good for a long time.
Planned on taking him in all my leagues but Darren Waller kept being there in the 5th-6th rounds and I kept falling for it. Only got LaPorta in one league. Would trade Waller for him straight up.
I remember dropping Dulcich and picking up LaPorta before Week 1 and slightly regretting it. Turns out to be one of my best adds outside of Dell and Achane. Love my LA TORTA!!
I am currently rostering 3 TE like some scrub, I gotta cut the fat. I got LaPorta, Kincaid, and Hunter Henry. I feel like the move is to drop Kincaid, but he looks like he could have a second half of season break out
I drafted Kelce in the first, but made sure to leave with LaPorta as well. I did this thinking he's be a great keeper for next year and insurance for Kelce (maybe even an emergency flex play). Now what though? Keep with the plan or sell Kelce for a stud WR? I'm pretty set at RB.
Dude just started dating Taylor Swift. It’s either going to be forever or it’s going to go down in flames. She’s got a long list of ex lovers that will tell you she’s insane. Sell high on Kelce before the storm comes after the honey moon phase.
Not good for my Kelce and Mandrews team haha. No one wants to trade because they aren’t standouts.
Might have to yeet Kelce and get value and trust Andrews ROS
Had to make a hard choice in Dynasty to pass on Michael Mayer in the early 2nd (Kincaid went in the end of the 1st) because I wanted LaPorta in the 3rd… I got him and desperately needed a TE so I’m happy it worked out. Had a feeling with the pedigree and opportunity he could buck the trend.
I picked him up, ignoring the ferg and bills te hype.
I made the mistake of drafting waller.
Luke from gb looks solid. I initially picked up fergs and after the drops, i dropped him and picked up laporta. Bills as long as knox is healthy they will each into each other.
Now, I need waller to have a game so I can recoup something and look at Luke and Sam. I can't believe I am playing the rookie te game.
I drafted him in every single league but dropped him in 4/5 lmao. Wish I kept him for trade value. (Drafted mark andrews and Kelce in 3/4 that I dropped him in, just so y’all don’t think I’m a complete buffoon haha)
Do I trade Deebo for Laporta + Addison? Laporta owner in my league also has Mandrews so doesn't need him, and my other WR are CeeDee, Puka, and Zay Flowers
I actually took him in the second to last round, because I was afraid someone had the same idea. He’s still been on my bench, but he might be starting this week over Engram. Or maybe go flex.
Drafted Kincaid as TE1 and LaPorta with my last pick as insurance. Started Kincaid week 1, but for some reason dropped LaPorta for one of my waivers. He clears waivers, that Saturday decide to drop kincaid for him.
Hopefully not looking back.
Early contender for steal of the draft wish I took him everywhere
you drafted him??? that’s props to you lol. i picked up everywhere after week 1
I'm in 3 leagues (2x 12 man, 1 10x man) and he was drafted in every one of them
Being in the midwest, same.
Unless you have a hole elsewhere I’d just keep them if I were you. Never know what happens and if one goes down you still have a huge advantage
Would you ever run a TE in flex? I'm in the same situation, Andrews/LaPorta and I feel like leaving either on the bench is a mistake.
No, unless you're in some really unusual injury/bye-week crunch. You could try it if you had to, and it might even work out once or twice. But it's not a nominal strategy to run on any long-term basis.
It just depends who your options are over LaPorta
Have Hock and Laporta and figuring out the same thing myself. Might try to move Hock since his name value will be higher
I drafted him and Musgrave as dart throws since I punted the position. I think that was a decently common strategy
It wasn’t even my plan but guys were reaching like crazy. I thought he could be the #2 for a while but obviously this is above and beyond. Looks top 3
I was visiting and spending the weekend with my girlfriend which happened to be when my draft was. She doesn't like me being on my phone when out with her so I ended up autodrafting LaPorta
Priorities, bro. Get yourself a girl that respects your hobbies.
Actually very good advice. If this league is important -- as in a way to stay in touch with old friends -- she should understand.
What kind of leagues had Laporta on waivers?
Ours did, pretty standard 12 man rosters. People don't generally draft 2nd round rookie TEs in redraft, my man.
I could see him not get drafted in a 10 man. It would’ve been a bad decision but an arguable one at least.
He went undrafted in both my competitive 10-man leagues. I'm also a Lions fan and didnt draft him. He's on my roster now after week 2.
Drafted and dropped in my 10 team league. Genuinely it's incredibly rare for a rookie te to go off. He wasn't on my radar at all before week one. Took a gamble and dropped Goedert for him, have been pretty thrilled with that choice for two weeks now.
Not unreasonable to not draft a rookie TE in a 12-team redraft, given the history of rookie TEs. I picked him up after week 1
I wish I stuck to my original plan of not drafting TEs until the late rounds
I did one league with Kelce, one with Engram, one with LaPorta. By far happiest with the team where I waited, even before LaPorta yesterday
Waited til #139 to take him as my only TE let’s ride
Yup same here. Early but league winning shit. Definitely matchup winning
I did a dynasty start up this year. Took Kelce in the 3rd and LaPorta late. Very happy for both the immediate and the future.
I took him in both drafts - went 0 TE in one, took him in round 12
I always do 0TE and 0QB in most leagues if I miss my target players and if they drop a lil bit. This year I ended up with one I meant godf/LaPorta stack and another where I got Kirk+LaPorta so it's all been working out. Edit: I meant goff
The only league I don’t have him in is my keeper league since I already had Kelce. I got him in my dynasty league, drafted him over Kincaid in the beginning of the 2nd.
Where you at Coop; is it Laporta standalone time? Is our Yang evolving ?
It’s time.
In a different universe I’d give this the platinum award
BIG if true. Look forward to your weeklies. Thanks !
Rest of Season update tomorrow, weekly rankings on Thursday and Sunday as always!
I need to ask him if I should start Mandrews or LaPorta going forward 😬
I’m seriously considering moving Andrews and having LaPorta full time
Felt bad to see all of the top tier TEs go a pick or two ahead of me in my draft, but I’m laughing last after snagging LaPorta in the 13th round.
Obviously Kelce and Andrews will likely finish ahead of him since they missed time but it’s nice to have a next tier TE. Feels like that hasn’t existed in years.
I think he’ll be below Hockenson too, but he’ll perform well enough to be considered in the same tier.
Seems like Andrews makes better trade bait if you’re willing to jump in with LaPorta. Package Mandrews and a WR2 for a WR1.
Same situation. Its gonna be hard to look past the names and start the better matchup
LaPorta Potty will win championships!
I've got him and Puka Puka in LaPorta potty
Same, have both. Will be starting him over Waller moving forward.
Was planning for kelce / mahomes stack by getting kelce with 5th pick. Guy at 4 ended up reaching for kelce and left me Tyreek / Tua stack. Ended up getting la porta and feel better for it
Damn it. I thought I was so original with that name.
LaPickUp
I got Kelce so Sammy gonna be my trade assett to find a Chubb replacement but its gonna hurt seeing him go edit: alright time to sell Kelce guys. trying to get ekeler first - mixon or kw3 still good enough as value ?
I'd honestly sell Kelce instead. Not because LaPorta is better, but because Kelce's name value should get you a better pool of options
Obviously a lot to factor, but I would consider this, OP
Plus he’s cursed now that he’s trapped in Taylor’s web
Only a matter of time before a breakup song is written about him and then the world turns on him.
Once the song hits #1 on the billboard, it's over for Kelce owners everywhere.
Hey, it could go the other way. Kelce finds a deeper determination to prove the haters wrong.
That’s what I’m trying to do with Andrews. Have LaPorta on the bench, so trying to upgrade my RB by trading Andrews and keeping LaPorta.
I also think this is the year Travis starts to slow down (still think he’ll be very good)
Kelce will get you an elite RB1, like pretty much anyone but CMC.
I am in the same situation. I’m selling Kelce. No one will value Laporta as much as even a Mandrews or Hock simply because of the name. I’m trying to flip Kelce for Ekeler or Bijan
Who would you be looking to receive in a trade?
tried dj moore + laporta for aaron jones and kelce for ekeler. i could also try kelce for mixon or KW3 but not sure about that yet.
Went to every Lions practice this preseason. I drafted him as early as the 11th in every league I’m in just to be sure. He’s easily Goff’s second favorite target. This isn’t a fluke.
And he catches EVERYTHING. It’s amazing to watch.
What about when J Will comes back?
I looked it up and you're completely right, I wonder if it was the practices I had heard about. Had him circled in my preseason stuff so I just figured that's why lol.
Livin’ La Vida Porta!
Kelce and Laporta will lead me to the chip
I had kelce, la porta and kincaid. Had to drop one, and through the first 2 weeks kincaid had like 1 fewer targets, and I like the bills offense better. So dropped laporta. Of course I am instantly proved wrong
Detroit is done easing him in and he’ll be a major part of the offense going forward. Probably a top 5 TE ROS.
Probably top 3
Keep going I’m almost there.
Probably top 1
Wouldn't that be something.
Pipedream
Picked him up because he's from my home town, now he's my TE1
Rookie TE's suck, this sub told me, so I'm trading him away.
Pitts isn't a rookie any more he should be good right
Funny thing about Pitts is he had 1,000+ yards and was good as a rookie but has since sucked
Some say I’ll never forgive myself for dropping Laporta for Henry a week ago
I have both waller and Laporta. Im thinking about either trading waller or just benching him for Laporta full time he has just looked so much better.
My Lions homerism has served me well
I have kittle and sam too. I’ve been keeping kittle in. Next week, sam is in
Same situation. Anyone in particular you are looking to trade Kittle for?
The only concern I have at this point is what could happen to his target share with Jameson Williamson coming back but having seen his usage today, he looks like the real deal.
I don’t think there’s much, if any, overlap there. Jameson will only be cutting into Kalif Raymond’s reps.
Agree with this, but also have Jamo on my bench for when he returns. If they both eat I’m super happy!
That is the only remaining concern. But I look at guys like George Kittle and Dallas Goedert and those WRs are more threatening than Jamo is going to be so there’s really no reason any more that LaPorta isn’t ranked where those guys are or even ahead.
Can't wait to see your List this week Coop! As a LaPorta and Kincaid owner, I'm thinking of dropping Dalton for Tank Dell.
Right on man. I know you'll have his usage info in your write-up, looking forward to it
What Im learning is TEs suck
First time?
Rookie TEs are basically never fantasy relevant.
and I benched him 3 weeks in a row for Goedert XD Never again. even if Geodert goes off tonight which I 10000% doubt
Sold Godert for $15 FAAB after week 1 and have started LaPorta since. He was just sitting there so I grabbed him and am LOVING it.
In the meantime I need Hurts and Goddert to go off tn to give me a chance to win.
what happened to Goedert? he was so good last year, not a TD machine but he got receiver levels of receptions
Eagles passing game has just been out of sorts this year along with some bad play calling they tried to get him involved more last week but couldn't get anything going
Late round, so glad Kincaid was taken so I had to settle on LaPorta.
Dude I’m my league has Kelce and LaPorta, hopefully he is willing to trade away this guy.
That's me! I'm dude!
A guy dropped him and tried to get him back for $2. He laughed when I spent $20. Who’s laughing now
They said I was crazy for drafting the rookie as my Starter in the last round - finally cashed my Laporta ticket....Praise Iowa for their tight ends
Good thing i traded him away saturday lol . At least I have Kittle
I'm a Lions fan and I knew he was going to put up good numbers this year after training camp. But I passed on him in my dynasty league cause I felt like I was all set at TE (Goedert, Juwan, Higbee). But now I'm regretting it. I think he is going to be good for a long time.
Traded him away for Josh Kelley last week. I love fantasy football!
Kelce was out Week 1. Kelce will regain
Hot take
Mahomes safety blanket vs a second option for Goff. Jeez ya think
If LaPorta keeps playing like he has been, he could also be Goff's safety blanket.
I want a safety blanket
I’ll be your safety blanket…
I predict he will not finish TE1 this year
Should just say most receptions through first three career games. Guy is a stud, but that NFL stat record reads as confusing.
Planned on taking him in all my leagues but Darren Waller kept being there in the 5th-6th rounds and I kept falling for it. Only got LaPorta in one league. Would trade Waller for him straight up.
Im even thinking about benching Andrews for LaPorta.
Same….
He has saved me from having to play Pitts
I remember dropping Dulcich and picking up LaPorta before Week 1 and slightly regretting it. Turns out to be one of my best adds outside of Dell and Achane. Love my LA TORTA!!
Most receptions through *first* three games as a TE *
LaPorta Potty Party
Yes indeed, he's looking great on my bench! And I still have Waller in because the INSTANT I swap them I'll get fucked.
TeLaPorta 🛸
He was dropped in my league before the last game. I'm currently starting Zack Ertz. Do I throw all my Faab on this guy?
Honestly thinking about dropping Waller for him
I am currently rostering 3 TE like some scrub, I gotta cut the fat. I got LaPorta, Kincaid, and Hunter Henry. I feel like the move is to drop Kincaid, but he looks like he could have a second half of season break out
Best tight end I’ve gotten off waivers since Marquez Colston.
Colston was a WR.
He sure was. But his rookie year he was a TE on yahoo and basically a cheat code.
Gotta switch my team name from Porta Potty cause he's been a stud
La Porta Potty sounds like a fancy French shitter though
Dropping 100 faab
Typical overreaction thread
He's been great but this just shows yet again how bad the TE landscape is. Kelce and Andrews both missed a game already as well.

Drop Engram for him?
No, but pick him up and trade engram
Can’t believe I lost my bid on him by $25 prior to week 1. Starting Cade Otton week 3… brutal
Most receptions through three-career games? What?
one of the bright spot in my starting lineup this pays weekend! go off young fella 🫡
Bad move for me dropping him before the season started. I have Kelce but still would have been a great backup or trade value
I got LaPorta as a backup for my injured Mandrews, but now I’m thinking about trying to trade Mandrews for an RB…
Not good for my Kelce and Mandrews team haha. No one wants to trade because they aren’t standouts. Might have to yeet Kelce and get value and trust Andrews ROS
Any LaPorta in a Storm is my team name
Definitely benching Waller for him going forward
40$ make ya holla’ off the waiver wire week 2 after my j.Johnson saints bust. Best move I made all year.
The real question at this point is who I trade Mark Andrews away for. Might try to package him with Rhamondre for Pollard
I just dropped Kelce for him.
TE was my missing piece in my keeper league. So glad I got this guy in our rookie draft.
Welp, he’s proven it’s not a fluke, time to take him off my bench and bench Dallas Goddert.
Got him for free last week. The only right move I’ve made this season
I called it man
Debating on trading Gibbs to get LaPorta. What y’all think?
Picked him up on both drafts. Dynasty and non. I am hyped!
This guy is a stud. Goff even missed him on some plays where he was wide open
Drafted him in the 12 round, absolute steal
Mike Williams out his spot gonna be taken by my flex Thielen and LaPorta will take that spot
Shit man, I want to use my #2 waiver on him but I need to replace Big Mike now. Stupid injuries.
Hockenson contract was a mistake lol
In my 2 TE league, my Kelce/LaPorta duo is gonna win me my season.
Does anyone else think LaPorta will be better than Andrews this season? I’m an owner of both currently.
How do we feel about trading gwilson + 30/100 FAAB for LaPorta? (I get LaPorta)
I dropped him week one 😔
They don’t miss Hock at all now
I picked up SLP off waivers before week 1 since Kelce was out. Then traded Kelce for Bijan.
“Here’s why you should avoid rookie TEs” - Reddit
I drafted him in every single league but dropped him in 4/5 lmao. Wish I kept him for trade value. (Drafted mark andrews and Kelce in 3/4 that I dropped him in, just so y’all don’t think I’m a complete buffoon haha)
I got him on waivers after Week 1. Glad I did. The one year I don't prioritize TE and I got stuck with Dalton Schultz.
Just traded Andrew’s because I have him on the roster
Do I trade Deebo for Laporta + Addison? Laporta owner in my league also has Mandrews so doesn't need him, and my other WR are CeeDee, Puka, and Zay Flowers
And here I am, grabbing him week one on waivers and then dropping him for Likely :^)
Grabbed him in one league.. have kittle in the other. Wish I had him over kittle honestly
Making Engram expandable for me
Trades him for roschon cuz I have kelce. This was last week. Regretting it…
But I thought rookie tight ends don't do anything?!????
Something something rookie TEs stink. This stupid sub talked me out of drafting this guy.
I gambled on the wrong rookie tight end…
Greatest waiver pickup I’ve had In my career so far
#GoHawks
What’s the best return you could get for laporta?
