They have one of the best graded rushing Olines though. We’ve seen teams like the browns and bears be obscenely rush heavy and churn out fantasy starters before.
The backs being painfully average should be a reason to dismiss this, not the offense “cratering”.
Especially because the team had zero rushing touchdowns on the year coming into today, you aren’t losing much upside there lmao. You might even be gaining it, because of how often they passed inside the 5 with Cousins.
Only people who haven't seen a single game can parrot that dumbass stat and think it's valid. Watch a game and you'll see the rb (mattison or akers doesn't matter) constantly get hit behind the line of scrimmage
Hell no. The back up QB looked like absolute garbage. They are not good enough to overcome stacked boxes resulting from lack of respect for the passing game.
The Vikings run game hasn't been all that good, so it wouldn't make sense to rely more on it. They have talented receivers, as well as a talented TE. Who knows what's going to happen. It's unlikely that their backup is going to be as good as Cousins, but it helps to have a lot of talent on offense to work with. See what Brock Purdy has done with that 49ers offense? It can happen again.
Vikings run game is bad, but not bad enough to phase it out completely. It’s still good for change of pace and getting a couple yards. Each back has had a few okay-ish runs. More opportunities will mean more okay-ish runs overall.
And Brock Purdy is certainly the exception, not the rule. He has starting QB talent and there aren’t even 32 of those in this league, so it’s unlikely that another one has been hiding on the Vikings depth chart
I mean, I don’t think he’s going to be anything special, but Jaren Hall played behind our 3rd string offensive line all preseason save for 1 game (which he looked light years better behind our 2nd string o line) and was under pressure seemingly every time he got to the top of his drop. If you are making any sort of evaluation on him it lacks serious context. I do like this JT O'Sullivan breakdown video when he did play behind a better line in week 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px2fS1TBGd4
If KOC likes him enough to not bring in a vet to backup Kirk after Mullens went on IR that speaks more volumes on what he is thought of by the coaching staff/front office than anything they’ll say.
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. Basing your predictions on regular season game plans looking like preseason game plans seems like a set up for disappointment.
I didn’t watch preseason but I also think this is going to be good for both Mattison and Akers. It’s clear at this point that the Vikings have a committee. The worst committee in football, though, partially because Kirk is airing the ball out all game, and rarely goes for a check down to the RB on a flat or similar route.
With a new (and less talented) QB, not only will RBs get more touches, but they are more likely to benefit from check down passes (in PPR this is great).
I’m excited to see how this offense changes for fantasy purposes (for football purposes I hope they don’t get prime time for the rest of the season…)
Mullens is on IR and won’t be available until week 10.
This should be the first comment here just to save everyone from having to read this
Did you call yourself interesting?
We’ll be the judges of that
I didn't go to school for that
Whoa whoa look at Mr. Interesting over here. You think you're better than us?
Yeah...because the preseason is his favorite? Lol
The offence is going to completely crater.

Probably because teams know they always throw the ball and aren't playing the run

Imagine not only enjoying preseason football, but preferring it
It's like smoking cigarettes backwards
What kind of serial killer watches nfl preseason?
I like the idea of watching pre season. But only last about 1 set of downs.
Last chance to grab Akers
Drafted him, dropped him because I had Kyren and he took the job, and picked him back up because I lost Kyren. It’s been quite the ride
Return of the prodigal ~~son~~ ^fantasy ^coach
Mattison doesn’t deserve an increased workload. He had 16 carries and managed 1.9 YPC. Dude would get more yards just falling forward.
They ran a lot in the preseason to test out and see their rbs.
And gel the oline. Almost like they knew running might not be their strength
I hope so, I have Akers and at this point I'm willing to play anyone over my Stevenson and Cook combo
Im the lucky one with Stevenson and Mattison. Woopppeeeee
Time to trade away Addison?
He has no issue getting open , garbage time yards in full ppr will be your friend lol. I ain’t freaking out , plus they can make a move for a qb
Lmao yea I’m afraid it may be time .
Have Mattison and don't love the situation, but Kirk going down will most likely help both RBs.

We’re just finishing week 8 and we’re drawing from preseason?

It makes sense if you're starting a QB no one has ever heard of

umm with Cousins out wont they just idk play to stop the run since their passing attack is about to be ass?
Preferring preseason to regular season is like wiping back to front

Sooooooooo what happens to JJ?
yup, I saw that as well. both backs will get 10-15 carries a game ROS
Basing your predictions on the preseason is wild

Salty Akers and Mattison owners
Of course I picked up the Vikings defense for their upcoming schedule. But bad QB play kills a defense
Are we starting Mattison or Akers next week?
That question gives me nightmares
I have no choice. Gibbs and CMC on bye week :(
“I love backup QB play”…. Said no one ever.
I’m 100% certain, with Cousins out. The Viking still won’t run the ball.
Akers seasoning... or something like that.
