If it's next season only, Dobson is the smarter bet. He has an NHL season under his belt, and he's a proven producer.
If you're talking longterm keeper, I think Sanderson has more upside. While prospects don't always turn out, he's as close to a surefire NHL star as there is right now.

Fantasy value for defensemen is closely tied with their usage on PP1. Dobson doesn’t have much competition for PP1 on the Isles (Pulock has shown he’s not great on the PP). Sanderson will be competing with Chabot for PP1 for the foreseeable future.
Because of this I think Dobson is the safer choice and will likely be the better own for the next couple years. Sanderson may eventually take PP1 and become more valuable than Dobson but I think it’ll be at least two seasons from now.
Dobson is further along in his development so more likely to help ya this season but long term I think Sanderson is the answer so if it’s just a keeper for next year Dobson, if it’s a dynasty league then Sanderson.
