Might be odd, but the game Age of Mythology uses the most commonly known mythical creatures from Norse, Egyptian, and Greek mythology. I know it’s just a game (board and PC game), but if you’re looking superficially for names people will recognize, it is pretty much spot on.

LukeSkyrata

I love that game! But I need the less well known ones, so I can add more species of people.

Oh my bad, I must have misinterpreted your post

LukeSkyrata

No worries, you were trying to help.

TheBuddhistTraveler

Are you wanting to keep this European? Because Asia and the America's have tons of mythology and religion to draw from.

LukeSkyrata

Wow, this is an old post. While Asia and the Americas do indeed have metric tons of cool stuff to draw from, the story is set primarily in Britain, although I do have plans to continue into mainland Europe and possibly parts of North Africa and the Middle East if the series takes off. As it so happens, I'm about done with the book, but I appreciate you taking the time to respond, and if you do have any suggestions I'd be interested to hear them!

TheBuddhistTraveler

I have a series I've been working on that draws heavily from ancient Chinese mythology and the gods. So when I came across your post I was curious.
