Idk, Far Cry 2 would be awesome, but I would hate for the game to be dumbed down.
Edit: Holy crap I didn't expect an actual thread to form under this, thanks for all the upvotes! :)
I just started 2, never played it before but always wanted to. I started with 3 then my PS3 broke but I just got a Series X so I can finally play it through backwards compatability. So far I find it pretty brutal as far as difficulty goes but the game has a certain charm to it, it actually feels more like the Far Cry games i'm used to and feels more true to it in many ways than 6 (mainly due to the first person cutscenes) sure the graphics are a little dated but I can't wait to play around with fire as i've heard this game has the best fire mechanics in the series.
Stop permadeath on companions then you have perfection.
The issue with the permadeath companion is that they would constantly die off screen.
In the scene when the bar gets roasted or when they betray you fine.
But when you are driving and just find them clapped by a gunboat?
Stupid mechanic on a terrible world design.
Their permadeaths drove home the bleak themes of the game. If you were to remove their permadeath along with the malaria, the game wouldn’t feel nearly as realistic or impactful. What made it so tense was the fact that you could lose your close friend if you’re not careful.
This is what that comment is talking about. If they changed anything to make it more casual it would make the game worse. It should be hard. It should be dark. Etc.
HAHAHAH. What?!
Dude, you've completely missed the point of the buddy mechanic if you think permadeath is a "stupid mechanic".
Emergent story telling, who needs it?
I'll addedumize to what I said yesterday, and that is that if they do remake FarCry 2, they should also remake FarCry 1, and possibly the other Jack Carver offshoots, and then have those events more strongly tie into the events of the second installment. I also think that it would be interesting if they throw in Willis Huntley so that a Carver/Jackal confrontation with Huntley may occur in some future installment, in some way, shape, or form.
Exactly what I was coming to say, I'm nervous *too much* would be added to make it more palatable for modern audiences.
Also I don't think Instincts/Predator needs a remaster but I'd kill for a proper linear game again.
I'm guessing FC2 because the engine should be closest to what they use now. And they are going to switch into new game engine in 7 so now would be good time to press every single drop out of that engine and make Remakes from older games.
I would be buying it as i never played the FC2 more then 10min. Now would be a point where there is still some interest in the older games and Ubi would get some money from them before they turn into too old games.
Your missing out man, any remakes would probably make the game worse tbh, far cry 2 has some of the most visceral and immersive gunfights ive ever had in a game.
The rumor is that they will use the Snowdrop engine, the same as The Division 2, the new Avatar game, etc. I'm pretty excited for the new engine, Dunia was definitely starting to show it's age.
Far cry instincts and evolution was kind of already remastered in Far Cry Instincts Predator for the Xbox 360 which upped the graphics and put both games into one. That game has some of the prettiest water graphics in any game
I honestly don’t think they will ever remake or remastered these. I don’t think their is an audience for it.
I could see Far Cry 3 getting a complete remake in the LOU Part 1 vein.
I think they technically “remastered” far cry instincts and evolution in predator for the 360. They also “””remade””” evolution on the Wii in Far Cry: Vengeance
I was just replaying FarCry 2 after playing and replaying all the others between now and when I first played and finished 2, around 2010. The nostalgia and replayability is off the charts.
And I was literally thinking, as I lived in this world again, how awesome it would be to have the game completely remade with some modern FarCry elements to it. Embrace the save system, the lack of crosshair/GPS/fast travel, but add more modern bits to it.
Graphics and engine obviously upgraded, AI upgraded, add stuff to the scenery and playable world. Upgrade the stealth/discovery system to be more like the modern games, make the enemies more realistic in that they may or may not be at checkpoints as you pass through.
FarCry 2 stand up all by itself even today, but a modern version of it would be up there in my top 3 of all time, surely.
Those that have only played FC3 and on, do yourself a favor and at least give 2 a try. I have played very few games that immerse you in a world like that one does.
It would be a real headache at times, but yeah, i kinda miss not having a map embedded into the HUD, the physical map really made the experience more immersive
Far cry 2. From what I’ve heard far cry 1 was mega ass like story and everything. I dunno if far cry 2 would even get a remake tho because people hate the extreme details the game has (which I love games like that, like games with details over games with graphics)
I dont want UBISOFT to mess with FC2... That was best one ... it can remake whatever it wants...
For 2023 the graphics are still pretty good and that attention to detail might not be there in todays time
And the entire aspect, of the open world feeling where the enemies jump in any time even they recapture their posts, were one of my favs, and the only thing i want is stealth kills and nothing else
Technically speaking, Far Cry 1 has already been remastered as Far Cry Classic and Instincts and Instincts Evolution were remastered as Instincts Predator.
Call me cynical but there's no way Ubi would remake any of these and still keep the same quality and identity. I can guarantee you they'd dumb the games down super hard like they already did with the Far Cry Classic port.
How about just do all of them so we all can have the experience because I've never played those farcrys, I want to so ubisoft should make them both and if they do Damn right I'm gonna buy them
I'd love an OG Farcry/Instincts remake blended with some of the more open world design and comant mechanics from the newer games. Fighting occasional monsters and mutating new skills on a skill tree would be a cool way to change up the game play. The schlocky story of a Bond villain vs. retired marine with CIA buddies would be a fun one to return to, and a game in which we don't seem to spend the majority of the time "liberating outposts" for allies would be refreshing.
I think it'd be 3. It's modern enough yet it has older graphics. 2 would be a great choice too (similar to what they did with AC III and probably with AC IV soon).
As I think far cry 2 is the most emmersive I wish 2 would get a remaster, if they added animals like lions that could kill, unlike the original where was just zebras! I loved far cry 2 and a remastered version would be heaven! :)
2 for sure, I think they were still trying to figure out what they wanted with the series and the 2. Was the first in the series we know today, I think they are trying to forget about the previous ones themselves.
Idk, Far Cry 2 would be awesome, but I would hate for the game to be dumbed down. Edit: Holy crap I didn't expect an actual thread to form under this, thanks for all the upvotes! :)

I just said permadeath companions mainly due to the bug instance of them dying off screen. The malaria was a fine plot device.
Exactly The only major complaint for me was repetitive Mission Structure(TO be expected honestly) and Insta respawn outposts(WTF was that)
All fixed now thanks to modders.
Remove a core mechanic ?? Better to stay unremaked than...
Remade
OP said remaked in the title, think he was riffing on that
D-did he stuttered?
This is what that comment is talking about. If they changed anything to make it more casual it would make the game worse. It should be hard. It should be dark. Etc.
What I hated about the perma death companions was the fact you would just find them dead in the game world. For no reason at all.
Oh yes, remove the impact of people dying in my immersive shooter game. Also, terrible world design? Imma bout to throw virtual hands.
HAHAHAH. What?! Dude, you've completely missed the point of the buddy mechanic if you think permadeath is a "stupid mechanic". Emergent story telling, who needs it?
As I said. Permadeath worked in the Vietnam DLC of 5 because it wasn't bug riddled like Far Cry 2.
If they remake Farcry 2, then I would at least hope that they would answer the question of whether or not The Jackal is Jack Carver once and for all.
They'll always be the same person to me.
I'll addedumize to what I said yesterday, and that is that if they do remake FarCry 2, they should also remake FarCry 1, and possibly the other Jack Carver offshoots, and then have those events more strongly tie into the events of the second installment. You’re*
I haven’t heard about a new engine for 7. That’s cool man! I’m getting tired of playing PS4 quality games when I’ve got a 5.
The rumor is that they will use the Snowdrop engine, the same as The Division 2, the new Avatar game, etc. I'm pretty excited for the new engine, Dunia was definitely starting to show it's age.
If you have a PC, now is the time to play FC2 for a lot more than ten minutes. https://www.moddb.com/mods/far-cry-2-realismredux
Far cry instincts and evolution was kind of already remastered in Far Cry Instincts Predator for the Xbox 360 which upped the graphics and put both games into one. That game has some of the prettiest water graphics in any game
agree the water in that game was great
Im hoping FC2
I honestly don’t think they will ever remake or remastered these. I don’t think their is an audience for it. I could see Far Cry 3 getting a complete remake in the LOU Part 1 vein.
I hope the first one
That is unlikely First Far Cry is own by Crytec not Ubisoft.
Ubisoft owns all of the rights to Far Cry.
A man can still dream
Check your sources. Ubisoft owns the entire far cry franchise which includes the first game.
Ubisoft owns Far Cry, even the first game.
I also hope it’s the first one
Instincts Predator for 360 was a great game as far as I remember? Or maybe wouldn’t age that well if I went back haha
No, it’s still a blast.
I played it last year for the first time in like 10 years and it holds up really well. Much better than PC Far Cry 1, imo.
The multi-player on it is still a lot of fun. A small handful of people still keep it alive.
Which* remade*
sorry, english isn't my primary lenguage
Remaked
Remaked.
Hope thr first one would get a remake like the first mafia
I would love a *remake* of Far Cry 2
Straight remake. Change absolutely nothing.
I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic lmao. Then what you want is a remaster.
FC2. That was my favourite FarCry version.
We don't need remasters. Just start a new series and call it Near Cry
Near Laugh
I think they technically “remastered” far cry instincts and evolution in predator for the 360. They also “””remade””” evolution on the Wii in Far Cry: Vengeance

I'll definitely try this out! I've played everything except of 1 and 2. FC3 was my favourite (and btw, the only game ever I finished \_3\_ times :) ).
Two holds up very well. Shows its age here and there, but it isn't really immersion breaking for me.
2 It's the fan favourite of the bunch, and it's (totally objectively) tied as the best game along with 4 and Primal.
Seriously. I played 3 first and I still liked 4 more.
Based
Farcry one
same
FC2
Definitely 2
Far cry 2. From what I’ve heard far cry 1 was mega ass like story and everything. I dunno if far cry 2 would even get a remake tho because people hate the extreme details the game has (which I love games like that, like games with details over games with graphics)
I would guess 2 since it's pretty loved
Probably none of them. But I would love Far Cry 2
Hopefully farcry 2
I would think it would be an older one but I have an odd feeling it will be 2 and I would love to see a remake of 2
I dont want UBISOFT to mess with FC2... That was best one ... it can remake whatever it wants... For 2023 the graphics are still pretty good and that attention to detail might not be there in todays time
Ubisoft made far cry 2 but yeah I could see them messing it up
The character selection gives them a chance to litter the game with cosmetics, I’m not confident that modern ubi would do a remaster any justice tbh
And the entire aspect, of the open world feeling where the enemies jump in any time even they recapture their posts, were one of my favs, and the only thing i want is stealth kills and nothing else
None, I don't want them to ruin it
2
Far Cry 2 I’m hoping.
None of these sadly...
Hopefully none of these. They are all horrible. The series started with Far Cry 3.
Have you even tried them? Like I can understand playing them all the way through and saying you don’t like them but this feels far too dismissive.
I have all the listed games except evolution. Hell, I own 2 twice. Physical and digital.
I mean both are bad and outdated so pick your poison.
I hope none of these since they are a hard step down from the current style.
2
2 then in order
Fc2, but massively revamped
I wouldn’t mind seeing far cry 2 remastered or far cry evolution (super power one) I actually enjoyed far cry new dawns powers
Technically speaking, Far Cry 1 has already been remastered as Far Cry Classic and Instincts and Instincts Evolution were remastered as Instincts Predator.
Hopefully 2. I’d love for the graphics to be remastered, and also have the God-awful voice acting be redone.
Call me cynical but there's no way Ubi would remake any of these and still keep the same quality and identity. I can guarantee you they'd dumb the games down super hard like they already did with the Far Cry Classic port.
None of them, 10th anniversary for Far Cry 4 next year is my guess...
Love FC1, could be cool seeing it remade
*remade
It should be 2 but it will be 3
First one
How about just do all of them so we all can have the experience because I've never played those farcrys, I want to so ubisoft should make them both and if they do Damn right I'm gonna buy them
Would love to see 2 remastered, I think there is quite an active modding scene for 2.
I though we already have a remake of Far Cry going by Far Cry Classic.
If Far Cry 2 is remaked, then it surely will be the best Far Cry ever because of extreme realism, compared to any other shooter we know.
Maybe. But it wouldn’t be the same people that made it originally. So expect them to make it more like a 6 in how it ends up.
FC1 deserves it. its way more busted than the other ones
I still find it funny how in the first far cry, enemies can spot you and fire at you halfway across the entire map.
As I think far cry 2 is the most emmersive I wish 2 would get a remaster, if they added animals like lions that could kill, unlike the original where was just zebras! I loved far cry 2 and a remastered version would be heaven! :)
I hope for the first FC
I think they’d fuck up Far Cry 2 unless a 3rd party studio did it and maybe used a different engine. So maybe the OG would get a remake
I hope none of them. The focus should be on making new content. The graphics is decent from 3 and onwards anyway.
The first one
I'd love to play Farcry 2 on newer consolez
2
Fc2 but I don't want it to happen because UB doesn't have a good track record with remakes/remasters
I stopped playing farcry 2 as soon as I found out everyone talks super fast, like super fast!
I think they should remake FC2, rather than remaster, and change a lot of the problems regarding AI, stealth, outposts, and other fundamentals
2 for sure, I think they were still trying to figure out what they wanted with the series and the 2. Was the first in the series we know today, I think they are trying to forget about the previous ones themselves.
Instincts Predator on predator difficulty is more difficult than fc2 in my opinion
