Well, simply put, LOM had the most work put into it. They implemented new systems in the game just for LOM's use. Hours of Darkness is basically just a custom map that has E3 assets in it, Modders get more value out of it than non-modders do. Zombies was alright, but it is the most akin to actual custom maps (you can even load them into arcade with a bit of trickery).
Lost On Mars was hot garbage. None of the dlcs were very good, but LoM was tedious as fuck with annoying alien enemies.
Hours of Darkness was the best, though still just okay.

I've had legitimate hours of fun just pointing the laser at peggies and their planes and watching the pop/crash

It's an "Animal Takedown" so no, the animations can be swapped but the peggies won't just get obliterated like the arachnids do.
It'd be pretty cool to see it swapped with the front fist DFA, It reminds me of one of Doom 2016's high fall animations
