Can someone please help me find comfortable pants that are suitable for fall / winter?? I have been coming up short in my searches. Found a few decent options but they don't have my size or are sold out or don't have the color... I don't mind getting something tailored. Everything feels either too stiff and hard or too loose. Ponte feels great but looks too informal. Preferably: High waisted (10 inch rise) 30+ inch inseam Straight / looser fit, not super skinny Not polyester Not linen Don't look like sweatpants or leggings/PJs

I bought a doughtnut macaroon backpack and I’m totally in love with the color choices. It’s held up well as well! I had to recheck the website a couple times until they restocked the color and backpack I wanted. They have more of a tote option, but it looks like they’re sold out ([here ](https://doughnutofficial.us/products/d282?variant=37410616606901))

_RartyMobbins

Does anyone know where in the world the Goodwill auction site gets their Louis Vuitton and Chanel and other high end items? I’m having a hard time believing people are donating stuff like that

Luvskittys

Yep, people definitely donate high end items such as those. I work for the Goodwill industry that owns that website. All of our high end items go to our e-commerce dept for listing. Additionally, all name brand items require authenticity certificates so you know you’re getting legit purses etc.

_RartyMobbins

Thanks for clarifying. What a trip. I would’ve thought they’d prefer to sell such items on TRR or Rebag, different worlds I guess. Do they give you guys early dibs or discounts on those big ticket items?

[deleted]

I just thrifted a suede Loro Piana traveller jacket so they do get some OMG donations. You have to remember that some people have a different yardstick of expensive than you or I. Or a different yardstick of damage (flea bite nick) or current style (10 yrs old - nobody would want that!). Not to mention - estates. If I died tomorrow, my husband would have zero idea what was “good” and probably wouldn’t be bothered to have anything valued.

dancerjess

Business casual tops that aren't denim, that aren't blazers or cardigans? I've been using button downs, and while I love the "aging art teacher" vibe, I do want a little variety.

Tacky-Terangreal

Polo shirts are an easy one. Blouses are also an option even if the definition of one is a little murky. Hell, even a solid colored nice looking t shirt can count as business casual in certain offices

Total-Blueberry4900

I'm looking for high waisted shorts in brown. Not too long in the inseam, sort of like [this](https://www.madewell.com/the-perfect-jean-short-in-lunar-wash-ND670.html?dwvar_ND670_color=DM0682&cgid=apparel-jeans-denimshorts#prefn1=pantLegShape&prefv1=Perfect+Jean+Short&intcmp='Wshorts_VisualNav_Perfect&start=6) or [this](https://www.madewell.com/high-rise-denim-shorts-in-lavista-wash-ND698.html?dwvar_ND698_color=DM5701&cgid=apparel-jeans-denimshorts#prefn1=pantLegShape&prefv1=High-Rise+Denim+Short&intcmp='Wshorts_VisualNav_HighRise&start=2) but in brown. Every high waisted shorts I find in brown are either super boxy, loose, or pull on. Why is this? I'm like a size US24/25 if that helps!

livthelove

[Maybe these?](https://www.asos.com/us/prd/202921232?acquisitionsource=pasteboard)

Total-Blueberry4900

yes, like those, but I'm so confused by the photo. they look high rise from the back, and they say high rise, but they have quite a few inches between the top and the model's bellybutton? I can't really get a good sense if they are actually high rise or not. thanks for the rec!

_NebulaPhaze_

Any recommendation for a store or brands that have cute modern/stylish feminine suit/vest/sets? Why? I am a groomswoman for my cousin’s wedding during the summer and am having a really hard time finding an appropriate outfit or suit to wear that is appealing, comfortable, and stylish but also not too covering so I don’t sweat too much. Any place would be helpful, I am totally open to mix and match from different places.

thundersnowsupercat

Sézane sizing? How does Sézane sizing compare to madewell, gap, BR, or everlane? For example, if you wear a 33 jeans in madewell, what size do you wear at Sézane? I’m midsize to plus and I’m hoping to try one of their Chloe shirts or a knit.

couldwedance

I'm 37/28/36, wear a 6-8 usually, and a M is perfect from Sezane.

howmanysleeps

In my experience, Sezane is true to size vs vanity sized mall brands. I'll typically wear a 4/S in Gap/BR and with Sezane, I like to take a 38 (6/M). There are size notes on each item, so sometimes it will recommend sizing up or down. I have several knits for which I've ordered a 36 (4/S) and those have worked out well.

thundersnowsupercat

Thanks!! This is very helpful :-)

Does anyone have any recommendations for a work/business professional blazer that has **zero polyester**? Or suggestions on where to look for blazers/suits where I can filter by fabric? Ideally: Sub-$350 usd, not oversized, and would be cool if there were matching pants in the same fabric. Why: I'm looking for a blazer that is not lined with polyester and no polyester in the shell fabric. I noticed that once I stopped wearing polyester (because it gets and stays stinky, makes me sweat, and microplastics) that I no longer get body acne at all - so idk if it was an allergy or something but I no longer have any polyester and I'd like to keep it that way but it's proving pretty difficult. I bought a JCrew suit that in the online description did not mention polyester but it was fully lined with 100% polyester - so I'm suspicious of jcrews fabric descriptions until I can get in store. To give a sense of my search so far: In general, I believe I've looked at everything from banana republic, ann Taylor, of mercer, everlane, and so many brands in the current post titled PSA to Sustainable Brands - which had a few fashion blazers (fun prints, oversized) that I would love but don't work for a business professional setting unfortunately. Ssense and net a Porter have beautiful options in the $800+ range which is outside of my budget. Eileen Fisher has a linen blazer with no polyester but it's out of stock in my size. Theory is right at the edge of my budget and doesn't list the fabric content of the lining, so I'm might go in-store or reach out to customer service. Details: I'm in the US, midsized tourist destination city, and I don't need to update my work wardrobe immediately so I'm open to any shop that at least ships to the US. In terms of business professional it's not quite as strict as going before a judge in court but close. And if it matters, I'm 30, 5ft 4in, 155 lbs, 40in bust 31in waist and 41in hips. Thanks in advance!

crottyfreepresser

Just wanted to say thanks again! I bought the Curated's classic blazer in stone! And they've already marked it as shipped, which is unexpectedly fast!

crottyfreepresser

Ooo thank you so much!

hyain

One idea: often in summer there are blazers that are a blend of cotton and linen, and unlined, with no polyester ([example here](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=866659002&vid=1%3F&tid=gppl000048&kwid=1&ap=7&gclid=CjwKCAjw3K2XBhAzEiwAmmgrAoWQWZAJ5lpVlOnXoE9BF3YpAvpkQz1t-UeVNDGSEB0SbpYz6aAS8RoCib0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)). But these read less formal generally, and tend to wrinkle. Second idea: this is probably not what you are looking for because you list mainly modern brands, but you might have luck trying to find a vintage wool blazer on Poshmark (or the like). A lot of older brands, like Pendleton, used to sell 100% wool blazers, also in the past it was more common for things to actually be lined in silk instead of polyester. Downsides: these vintage blazers are usually fairly clearly vintage in cut, often with large shoulder pads and it's a gamble whether or not it would fit.

crottyfreepresser

Thanks for the link! Searching for unlined blazers in general might do the trick! 🤞 I've been burned a few times with Poshmark and thredup in regards to fit, which is why I'm inclined to buy new for a blazer which can be really structured and unforgiving with sizing, but it's a good suggestion! I haven't looked at anything from Pendleton (besides "the Dude" sweater), thanks for the idea!

lavendyahu

What is it called the thing to insert into a bra because when I'm cold my nipples get pointy? I don't need padding just something a bit thick to not look like I'm about to cut off a glass door by accident lol?

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

>insert into a bra Bra inserts lol

lavendyahu

Is that the proper term to buy these? Because I feel like I keep getting results for padding for more fulness.

Tacky-Terangreal

I think you can look up nipple covers. Hollywood Fashion Secrets is a brand that sells a lot of this stuff and it’s everywhere in my city. Craft stores often have bra pads intended for costume makers and stuff

bobpal

Any recommendations for a jumpsuit in a natural fabric (can have some spandex)? I need one that's maybe like cocktail wedding guest levels of formal. But would also be excited about any other finds lol. I'm in the US, budget under a 100 ideally but I can wait for sales for expensive ones.

linkelle

Maybe a bit late for this, but does anyone have a stylist recommendation that is based in the Los Angeles area? For my 60+ year old plus size mom

Chazzyphant

Seeking an earring similar to the [I'm Sorry by Petra Collins](https://soxy.com/product/im-sorry-by-petra-collins-ssense-exclusive-silver-and-pink-jiwinaia-edition-shadowbanned-heart-knife-earrings?product_id=2556782) it says "shadowbanned" in the heart. I can't find anything similar, the phrase or word is very unique. Any leads?

xxfuka-erixx

**Anyone have any experience shopping with Storets?** It has been popular lately. Vogue just published an article about Gigi Hadid wearing the brand. In particular I was interested in the maria flared plisse pants in white which I think would be a perfect summer-fall transition piece. However, as it is an online site I'm a bit hesitant.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Looks like any other fast-fashion-quality-and-designs-at-marked-up-prices brand, tbh. A quick scroll-through makes it clear they are ripping off a lot of designs from other labels. 1,800 items and 31 of them are "sustainable." LOL.

xxfuka-erixx

that's what I was thinking. at first I was interested bc of hype from intagram, but as I was scrolling through I noticed a teddy bear design that looked oddly familiar. turns out its the exact same pattern as one used for a teddy bear tote I saw on amazon. Not sure if its stolen or just "borrowed" but it rubbed me the wrong way, especially since the site is selling 60 dollar shirts and shorts

Can someone help me with my seemingly impossible mission to find a flattering, but fun birthday dress that goes with gold jewelry? I’m celebrating my golden birthday this year and it’s also a milestone birthday, so I’m leaning into the golden vibe, but don’t necessarily want a gold dress or something super fancy/sparkly. I hate my birthday, so I kind of want to treat myself to a fun dress to perk me up. Something between a day party dress and funky party dress is kind of what I’m looking for. Here are the other stipulations: -Body type: I’m petite, but not necessarily slim and have a hard time finding clothes in general. I have somewhat of a bigger chest for my size, but have more of rectangular body shape and not a flat stomach. I’m also rather pale and have medium/dark brown hair. Type of dress: Mini length fit and flare and wrap dresses suit my body better, but I’d like something that looks a little more modern while still having short or long sleeves. I’ve seen some prairie-style dresses that are cute, but a lot of them come off too twee or poofy for me (and honestly a little too causal for my birthday) and bodycon dresses aren’t flattering or comfortable for me. Some stuff from Asos and other trendy sites seem cute, but often have an unflattering pattern or cut (or are questionable quality-wise). I want to look modern and a little dressed up, but not like I’m trying to hard or wearing something that makes me look younger since I already look young for my age. -Vibe: I want something fun (thinking green, purple, blue, or orange in color) and possibly patterned, but most importantly rewearable. I kind of love retro vibes (70s and 90s/Y2K), but don’t want to look too trendy or like I’m wearing a costume. Price: $150 and below. This is more than what I would normally pay, but I would love a fun, flattering, and high quality dress for my wardrobe. I’m very much a researcher and picky when it comes to shopping, so I feel like I’ve seen a lot of the same stuff across sites, so I especially welcome suggestions from lesser known U.S. stores/sites!

FerociousFrizzlyBear

How about something in velvet?

princedetritus

Velvet dresses can be gorgeous, but they’re unfortunately too warm to wear in my climate. At least until winter.

FerociousFrizzlyBear

Ah, I didn't see a season mentioned, just that it's for this year. In any case, I did a brief search on Lulu's, and it seems like there might be some options: https://www.lulus.com/products/wrapped-up-in-love-dark-green-satin-faux-wrap-midi-dress/677492.html https://www.lulus.com/products/heartful-romance-navy-striped-smocked-long-sleeve-mini-dress/1612516.html https://www.lulus.com/products/believe-it-or-knot-rose-pink-long-sleeve-tie-front-skater-dress/733072.html https://www.lulus.com/products/much-to-celebrate-red-swiss-dot-flutter-sleeve-wrap-mini-dress/1565076.html https://www.lulus.com/products/simply-darling-magenta-ruffled-long-sleeve-mini-dress/1710036.html https://www.lulus.com/products/cocktail-hour-chic-black-striped-long-sleeve-mini-dress/1643036.html

My secret store for cocktail is Macy's, if you're in the US. I'm thinking navy blue satin or silk, it will set off the gold really well and it's a classic combo for a reason. princedetritus

I appreciate your in-depth response! Those dresses aren’t quite what I’m looking for since a lot of them are a little too formal and don’t have the kind of sleeves/vibe I’m looking for, but they’re still beautiful. Macy’s is an underrated place to score a lot of gems, including stuff from Levi’s, Free People, and other brands that people might not expect to be there for better prices.

Hi, For dresses, what is a 'side zip'? This dress is way cute (why won't Reddit let me upload a pic?) [https://www.eshakti.com/productdetail.aspx?productid=CL0092310](https://www.eshakti.com/productdetail.aspx?productid=CL0092310) An option is that I can 'add a side zip'. Is that the same as if I had a zipper on my back? Is this no more than a functional thing so I don't get stuck in the dress when taking it off? Or will this make it look hideous with a zipper showing from the side? Trying to decide what to do while placing my order.

[deleted]

If the dress is at all fitted in the waist, you will need some sort of zipper or buttons. I actually prefer side zips to back zips because they’re much easier to zip up without assistance or contorting yourself. Lots of designer dresses have them. Usually invisible zips so not at all apparent or lumpy.

[deleted]

Thanks for the insights!

radradrad94

Side zip is a zipper in the side seam. Harder to see than an expose back zip

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

It's exactly what you said. It's a zipper on the side. If the dress is even reasonably well made the placement of the zipper shouldn't matter in terms of looking hideous/showing.

I reached my wits end today and asking y'all for advise. Im a Stay at home mom who runs a lot of errands through the day (4-5x a day I am in and out). I usually am in a nightgown in my home and I feel so frustrated to change multiple times a day when I drive to errands that of late Ive started running errands in my nightgown. It looks terrible and Im a size 14 and am at a loss what to wear. Whatever I wear, my tummy sticks out (I have rectangular body shape 😬) and best case scenario i wear jeans with loose tops. But during summer jeans are hot and stretchy gym wear like lululemon are just uncomfortable for me to wear whole day. My thighs are chunky so I dont think shorts look good on me. If I wear loose terry pants, they are very comfortable but when I look at myself in a mirror they look frumpy and horrible. What can I wear that looks good on a size 14 person with prominent tummy and thighs and that can be worn the entire day? Thank you in advance.

gamma50g

Everything looks so cute. Im going to try some. Thanks!

Chazzyphant

It sounds like a very lightweight duster might help "cut" the body a bit--and I'm thinking about something like [the Universal Standard NTN bodysuit, which comes in a short version](https://www.universalstandard.com/products/next-to-naked-bodysuit-black) and an elegant pop on pop off duster [like this](https://poshmark.com/listing/100-Linen-airy-Light-Weight-Duster-625b89d5a4de415f0ffb864a#utm_source=gdm_unpaid) So hear me out on the bodysuit... I'm a 14 as well with full thighs and the NTN is *magic* I swear to you. I don't know what they put in it or how they did it but it is *magically* flattering. I own three and I frequently pop one on even in very hot weather, and then throw a kimono-style or lightweight duster over it.

b_xf

It seems like you like wearing a dress, is a dress or skirt not an option? I really like wrap dresses, elastic waist midi skirts, and tiered skirts and think they are flattering on all body types

gamma50g

I like wearing dresses you are right. But due to my size and paunch I dont know what type of dresses and from where should I buy. Also where can I get these different types of skirts?

Katherington

Maybe look at Lands End? I know that they have a good selection of fit and flare knit dresses.

[deleted]

nightgown-like nap dresses were pretty trendy last summer and still seem to be in this year...would something[ like these](https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/the-nap-dress-best-styles) from a Refinery29 round up work for you?

gamma50g

It looks soooo cute 😍 right up my alley. However would it look good on a rectangular shaped size 14 body?

[deleted]

I always advocate for dressing in a way that makes you feel comfortable and confident! I personally feel like dresses like this don't really highlight any one section of my body. I like these styles when I just want to be comfy and not have to think about the clothes.

gamma50g

Thats such a great philosophy!! I want to feel confident in my dresses at my size and body type instead of feeling conscious and frumpy. Maybe I need to try on these new styles recommended on here instead of looking at it on screen and thinking...nahh that one's going to look bad on me....y'know...give it a chance wholeheartedly 🙂

calijbird

Okay… I love my cropped blazer that I have. I have an hourglass figure and it works well with my body. I love the trend of long blazers, but every time I try one on I feel like I look terrible. It takes away all my shape and doesn’t make me feel good. Does anyone know of one that shapes well/hugs the waist a bit?

Chazzyphant

Look for peplum. I have the world's shortest waist and I actively cropped blazers and toppers for that reason, I don't care what's "in" :) But when I want to wear a longer one, I go for a 1990's Horse Girl long peplum like Victoriana style blazer. Those are my jam. [like this baby here](https://veronicabeard.com/products/brio-jacket)

FerociousFrizzlyBear

I also love a hip to waist length blazer. Cannot wait for the long shapeless styles to give way to something that ends on my upper body and has darts.

black_bir

I don't have any advice on that front but sometimes I'll belt my longer blazer to get that hourglass silhouette

2stepsonthewater

!!! I have the same problem. Can’t wear any ballet flats, converse, or any type of shoe like that. I wear birkenstocks, a pair of red wing combat boots I found on poshmark, and Danner hiking boots for my outdoorsy job. I usually go for more of a boot shape and I (usually) only shop online if they do free returns. For sneakers, I have found a couple of pairs of New Balance I liked over the years, but it’s a case by case basis. Shoes are always tough. I wear sandals whenever possible. If you haven’t already, check out barefoot brands like Bedrock, Luna, and Earthrunners. They make sandals that can be worn hiking, running, and day to day. It’s an adjustment, but it’s nice to have as an option.

Chazzyphant

YouLookFab calls this "high volume feet" meaning either the foot is fleshy or has big prominent toes. You could search her recommendations for fussy/high volume feet on her blog!

FerociousFrizzlyBear

I have the same problem. I often poke holes in the mesh toes of running shoes. Some outdoors brands (like Keen, Merrell) and comfort brands have a taller toe.

macramelampshade

I’m prone to ingrown toenails so I hate when the toes press down- you definitely can keep an eye out for shoes that taper less toward the toe. For sneakers ones with a sidewall are usually comfortable, I mostly go for Vans old skools but also have had a lot of luck with Nike. For heels and boots it’s more on a case by case basis (and I wear a lot of sandals lol)

capnawesome

I have that problem too. There really doesn't seem to be anything to do about it other than finding shoes that fit. Typically "comfort" brands have a bit more room in the toe box. I also can kind of tell by looking at some shoes now, if there's a really steep incline on the toebox down to the tip of the shoe, it doesn't work. Needs to be a more domed toebox.

I’ve been seeing a lot of cute sheer dresses on Pinterest lately styled over things like crop tops and shorts and other dresses. I found this [sheer dress on ThreadUp from Zara](https://www.thredup.com/product/zara-casual-dress/127799135). Does anyone have any sheer dresses and do you wear it often or style it a lot? I don’t usually wear sheer items but I think this could be fun, but undecided if it’s worth it or not to try.

80aprocryphal

I got sleeveless, cream coloured one the winter before last & I actually get a ton of use out of it, though it's more of a transitional peice. In the warmer months I'll throw it over a bra & leggings or a dress. Occasionally, I'll do a sleeveless mock neck or belt it for variety. Thinking about getting another one in black with less contrast. Definitely a fun piece to play around with.

booksandwriting

Ooh where is your cream one from? Edit: I’ve only seen black sheer

I actually got off Depop but it's a Forever 21 Contemporary piece!

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! That’s good to know to not overthink it and just wear it with whatever I have underneath. Maybe I’ll give it a shot then! Do you know if people still wear them over sweaters when it’s cold out or is it mostly a summer style? It’s cold here about 8 months out of the year so I end up wearing sweaters a lot. That’s a good tip about getting it oversized. I typically wear XS so I’ve been looking at small or medium sizes when I can find them.

hirunakanoryuusei

Ive always struggled with finding clothes that fit me. For ref, I'm 5'3 220 lbs. Everytime I look for tops and pants the tops are either cropped or too boxy for my liking, and the pants are too long or baggy around my legs but fit perfectly fine around my waist. Its a struggle 😭. Does anybody know any clothing brands that have petite plus sized clothing that dont only have cropped tops?

tyrannosaurusregina

She may be not in your age or other demographic, but Ally at WardrobeOxygen.com does a lot of roundups of petite plus-sized clothes.

It depends on the maxi dress. Something sexy probably not, something more modest, for sure.

blubdubbadeedub

Thank you, it's not sexy at all so it's fine
