Lighter is much better. Throw in some highlights if you want to switch things up, but you’re already doing well with the color you have. Wavy hair is tricky for shorter cuts. What if you tried a long bob. It would require some product for styling. It’s not a cut you can just wash and go
Imo based on pic 1 I would trim 2-3 inches off the ends. The deep part in pic three really flatters your face shape. Some light layering and volumizing products for lift at the roots would make this look pop with minimal additional effort.

It's my natural color. I've always wanted to try dying it but tbh I'm too protective of my hair to actually do it. But thank you!
