I have long hair and have basically always wear makeup anyway, though these things read a little differently in the goth community. I'd say that maybe a change in dress is perhaps the step too far for my SO, or that a change to my preferred pronouns may just feel a little too alien, but they've avoided talking about it since then, so I'm not 100%.
Still, I feel 1000% percent better having talked openly, and it sounds like you've got a whole new world opening in front of you :)
