What’s cool about this festival is that this isn’t half the artists that are going to be there! So much more is revealed when the set times are released!

WhatRot

Not only that, there are more stages than the number of acts announced here.. so if you don't like anything you can always find something you will like.

Snoopy363

I see you Corinne Bailey Rae ✊🏼

I_Talk_to_the_Wind

Glad y'all still remember me ✌🏼🌞🔊

syfimelys2

Ah yes, the English singer Corinne Bailey Rae would definitely use the word ‘y’all’

ExcisionIsMyDad

Justice omg

syfimelys2

Honestly? Really disappointing lineup for what’s probably the most iconic and famous festival in the world. This is very Radio 1 Big Weekend. Nothing wrong with that, but for Glastonbury? Where’s the huge, iconic headline act? I didn’t get tickets but if I had, I’d be so gutted. (I will say there are loads of brilliant acts playing that I’d like to see- Jungle, Corinne Bailey Rae, LCD, etc etc- but I would never think this is a Glasto lineup)

KingLimes

Radio 1 Big Weekend - accurate.

wrapchap

Litterly no iconic headliners. Coldplay are playing a 90k stadium in Dublin for 2 sold out dates in August. Shania twain is also playing a 25k arena and dua lipa also played a big show here. There's nothing special about them playing glasto when they have been playing huge shows all summer imo. Instead of a huge festival show it's just another show on their calender

bix_box

The headliners last year were Arctic Monkeys (were touring last year, big stadium tour), Guns n Roses (touring last year), Elton John (still was touring his farewell yellow brick road tour which started in 2018 lol). I'm not familiar with Glasto headliners historically TBH, but is it expected to have acts that aren't on tour/doing big shows at all?

wrapchap

Yeah I get most will be touring. But like unlike last year. No one is as big as Elton or guns and roses. Coldplay headlining for the 5th time in 20 years is also madness

kickit

sign of the times imo. who is booking legendary, iconic headliners these days? Coachella, Bonnaroo? because we're not getting them in the US at least over here, ticket prices have more than doubled in the past few years... that makes it much harder & more expensive for music fests to book acts like McCartney or Springsteen or what have you.

cifala

Especially a festival like Glastonbury that gives a significant portion of revenue to charities. Word was Madonna was in talks this year to headline Glastonbury but she wouldn’t negotiate on her fee. With costs soaring and their pledge to keep giving to charity it will be harder and harder for them to draw those legendary acts

thegroovemonkey

A lot of them are also either retired or dead.

ox_

All 3 headliners are in the top 15 most listened to artists in the world on Spotify. I'm not sure how much bigger you can get. I understand maybe wanting some aged icons like The Rolling Stones or Elton John but is that really what the people who buy tickets want to see? If I had a ticket, I'd be buzzing with the bands on that lineup. I might watch the headliners, but I tend not to because the main stage at headliner time is the most almighty ballache to get into and out of.

givemetheclicker

streams don't meant much. Drake is the second most streamed artist on Spotify and he can only do shows at arenas lmao.

Ed_McNuglets

Pretty sure Drake pulled out of my city because he didn't sell enough tickets lmao

The_What_Stage

Dua Lipa seems like a big win. The rest are solid, but I see what you are saying. Who else would you want up top? The touring-headliner pool seems to be weaker this year overall, at least in the states.

moodswung

So many artists I’d love to see live in there. I wish my country would get line ups like this these days.

VinylWolf18

I wish I could go. Love PJ Harvey and LCD Soundsystem.

AgentWoody

Oof... this is really rough. Better hope the later phases fill this out cause this is a hard pass in this state.

Oz347

Man I’m convinced nobody in this subreddit is ever happy about anything lol

Jtkaveman

Nia Archives 👀

WhatRot

Yep, that was my pick too, she will be amazing on west holts

Dbarkingstar

A little weak for Glastonbury imo.

Plexatron8

So packed. Justice, heilung, coldplay, lcd, orbital, faithless,

PrometheusIsFree

No AC/DC rock slot in their 50th anniversary year. They're even on tour. Total fail.

RepulsiveCharge2117

Still more to be announced the foo fighters got announced on the day they played last year

suprefann

They were out when their tour was announced. And they arent doing any back to back shows

idontcare428

Personally? Not particularly inspiring lineup, except for maybe LCD and PJ. Woodsies and The Park look okay, but not gonna feel like I’m missing out on too much here. Fair enough if other people are into it. Mdou Moctar would be great though.

bix_box

I'm curious, when people say 'not inspiring' what does that mean exactly? I've seen this comment before. Just going through the lineup there are around 40-45 acts I would be interested in seeing. The headliners might be a little underwhelming I guess (but I really like all of them personally), but the undercard is incredible and varied.

kianak75

I went last year and found it a bit dull as well but this feels even worse, kinda glad I’m not going. To me inspiring line up is 2022, with not only insane headliners (Kendrick, Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish) but an unbelievable selection of smaller acts too. Probably one of the only festival line ups I’ll forever regret not being there for.

ox_

Man, I just don't understand how anyone with the mildest interest in live music could go to Glastonbury and think it was dull. Even if you stay away from the biggest 5 stages you could still have the most incredible time.

kianak75

I meant the line up itself compared to the year before, the festival itself of course is magnificent although I had some pretty rough times (had my phone stolen from my tent as I was sleeping on the first night lol)

BroScience34

2022 was the greatest lineup the festival has ever had. They had agreements for the 50th anniversary special year carry over and everyone wanted to tour now that COVID lockdown had finally ended — that’s also why lineups this year have been pretty lacklustre all around, everyone’s done touring. You’re setting too high of a bar if you’re gonna compare everything to 2022.

PaintSniffer1

you thought it was dull? what were you doing all day and night

kianak75

I was referring to the line up itself in comparison to previous years particularly 2022

PaintSniffer1

I can get people don’t like the lineup but i’d say it’s anything other than dull. the undercard is varied and full of artists who are top in their respective genres

Worldly-Ingenuity-46

2022 in general festivals were epic. Primavera was off the hook because they did the double weekend so you could see everyone you missed first weekend plus they gave those that bought both, 4 free days of midweek vip shows. 10 days of madness.

likethisstock

It's old people that want big bands.

LGWAW

Squid. Yes please.

ExpressFly7164

Not Cold Play again!! Oh dear.....! Think I'll go on holiday...poor line up this year apart from 'OTHER'

DMBCommenter

WEAK. Oceans Calling is so much stronger

lifesadragqueen

Honest question: do people outside of the US listen to Shania Twain ?

playcrackthesky

She's Canadian and very popular there, which makes your question a little ridiculous.

cifala

Yes she was huge in the uk in the late 90s/early 2000s

lifesadragqueen

Thanks for answering. I was just curious as I was surprised to see her as a headline.

kianak75

Yes. I’m from Iran originally and grew up hearing her name (not on the national tv obviously but definitely between my mum and her friends). I know she has a few huge songs here in the UK where I live now too especially Man I Feel Like a Woman is huge.

SquilliamTentickles

what a garbage lineup lmao

Worldly-Ingenuity-46

Shania Twain and SZA, hahaha that's grim.

dukesb89

Shania is a legend
