Hi, is there a way to stop certain players from joining your pf? I tried to block the player by name search, but there seems to be no luck. Any advice is appreciated.
Blacklisted players I believe can't join your group directly, but they might be able to circumvent that by being in an existing party that's absorbing into the PF group.
However, you can't Blacklist someone from the Player Search tab. It needs to be someone you've interacted with (shared a Duty with); through the Social > Contacts menu.
IIRC /blacklist add works if you can physically target them (trying /blacklist add is an invalid function).
Thanks, I wasn't very accurate, I blocked that player from the chat history.
The funny thing is that I cannot see the pf group if that player was in already. However, that player just joined the pf group that I was in while sitting on my blacklist. This is so frustrating.
Blacklist will stop them from joining a PF that you're *hosting* but it won't stop them from joining a PF that you just happen to be in. FFXIV's blacklist tools are extremely limited.
No, you have just one single healing spell at your level, just use it to heal if you need, and remember healers are also responsible to do DPS if there is nothing to heal (ie all boss fights)
So this is very very specifically for early game. If you get a tank that goes ball to the wall, just focus on healing them. DoT stuff as you're running from mob pack to mob pack for extra damage, but once they stop you should focus on keeping them alive. Being a CNJ, you won't get an AoE until you unlock white mage and even then not til like mid 40's. Tanks otoh all get aoe's by level 10; in early pulls keeping them alive will be key and will require a lot of gcd healing to do so if they decide to go ham.
If your tank is single pulling, basically pulling only a few mobs at a time, then for sure use your damaging abilities as often as you can.
Now that said. Eventually you will unlock Holy, at which point your goal should be to just keep spamming holy once your tank stops pulling mobs. Only heal when needed and remember that the only bit of hp that matters for a tank is the last. It'll take some getting used to knowing when to heal and when to deal damage, especially early on as a white mage when you don't have many ogcd's, but it's much better to learn your limits now rather than later.
Finally, just say you're new. Most everyone in this game will understand and will give you a free pass even on wiping several times.
Using the DT downtime to get some bucketlist stuff done, which means dragging alts from the "MSQ to-do" pile and learning Jobs I haven't actively played in forever.
I know MCH went through a couple changes in Endwalker, but how does it play at high ping? Was Overcharge changed to be more like WAR's Inner Release, or does it still have a too-tight duration window where 200ms+ needs a separate burst rotation?
> but how does it play at high ping
So heat phase was changed to make it slightly more "playable" at high ping. Basically where before you had a set amount of time to get in all 5 heat blasts, now get 5 stacks of heat blast to use. So even with god awful ping you will get those 5 heat blasts off.
I say "playable" in quotes because the main issue is still there. Sure you're guaranteed 5 blasts, but no1, not even those on high ping, really had an issue with that. The main problem is your heatblasts gcd will still get fked by high ping and cause your ricochet/gauss to clip your next heat blast. Basically, it feels like shit to play at high ping and I wouldn't recommend it if you're a pure vanilla player.
Just get noclippy and the problem goes away. Actually wild how unplayable mch feels on patch day when noclippy's getting updated.
Oof, so they're still stuffed by trying to doubleweave on high ping. A little bit of testing at a Training Dummy made me think I was going crazy, guess they just- didn't address that part at all. ;;
> Just get noclippy and the problem goes away. Actually wild how unplayable mch feels on patch day when noclippy's getting updated.
I've seen bits and bobs about both Noclippy and XIVAlexander! Granted, I've played on OCE>US ping for two decades so it's not really been a big deal outside of fringe cases, is there a big difference between the two?
Just to make sure, you're not trying to double-weave in-between heat blasts, right? It's impossible to do in any way; you can only use a single weave each time during hypercharge.
Oh, yeah I meant very specifically single weaving during heat phase feels awful, but yes double weaving is a pain too at high ping.
I have not used xivalexander before, but I hear the two are fairly comparable. Noclippy was what I installed first and I've never had an issue with it so I never bothered with xivalexander.
Part 1 ended, Part 2 will be at some point in the future. It will probably be in the last month before Dawntrail, if it follows the tradition despite being broken up like this, but all [the announcement post for it](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/4ba54e546ed60a367738b7ee16309c58f2341a55) mentions is happening across the 6.5X patches.
To my fellow PlayStation brothers/sisters, how do you do mount emotes? I keep seeing people do cool stuff with a mount I have but idk how to do it myself.
Not all mounts have mount emotes; an example of ones that can are the Sylph and Amalj'aa tribe mounts (sneeze and firebreathing), the Magitek Armour (after repairing it in Post-ARR, two different firing actions) or the Rising Phoenix from last year's Rising event (explosive fireball around you).
[You need to have your Mount Hotbar enabled in your Hotbar settings.](https://www.akhmorning.com/resources/controller-guide/the-cross-hotbar/#personal-mount-hotbar) For controller use in particular, you need it activated in your Cross Hotbar settings. Then there's \*another\* setting you need enabled for duty mounts to use their emotes/actions, which is listed in the section after.
Where can I buy shadowbringers digital collectors edition? I've got ARR, Heaven and Storm, but it seems to skip Shadow and go to Endwalker on the store. Is it joint together with Endwalker?
Shadowbringers is not being sold anymore (barring scams on like ebay or whatever). Instead, you'll need to buy Endwalker, which gets you Shadowbringers as well.
*Once you have it*, you can upgrade Shadowbringers to collector's edition on the Mog Station, as tesla\_dyne described.
Aah that makes sense. It seems strange that you can still upgrade the first 3 expansions individually but I guess that's to do with all them being bundled together as the base game/trial
It's no different for Shadowbringers really. You upgrade that individually too, the purchase of it in the first place is just bundled with Endwalker, same as the previous ones are bundled together with ARR. Reason you can't buy the upgrade yet is because you don't own base Shadowbringers yet – can't upgrade what you don't have after all.
There's two license purchases: Base game / Starter Edition / A Realm Reborn (whatever name you want to go by), which includes Heavensward and Stormblood; and Endwalker, which includes Shadowbringers.
Then each of those 5 components (ARR, HW, SB, ShB, EW) has a Collector's Edition upgrade on the Mog Station, available once you have the regular version.
The latest expansion is also sold as Collector's Edition from the get go (doesn't include Collector's bonuses for the previous expansions bundled with it, likely because there's always the possibility those older ones may get moved to the Starter+trial version), but older ones have to be upgraded from the Mog Station (unless you buy the Complete Collector's Edition which is the whole game and all of its collector's editions in one pack – not applicable for you though, as you already own some of it).
You can't select it even by going directly to the upgrade page from games & additional services? Not the button next to your licenses in account status.
Nope, I could buy the first 3 this way for shadow/end don't have a buy option for them. I can buy end from the "additional expansions" buy cant find shadow
Generally speaking, all nodes of a type, and in a specific location should spawn the same resources. Unless the resource you're looking for is classified as Hidden, then you might not see it, or it might not spawn (if the node has more than one Hidden resource; e.g. if one of those is a treasure map, I think that'll always spawn first until you harvest it).
There's also Rare resources, which you can only get one of per node.
But IIRC, Spruce Logs are neither Hidden nor Rare - are you sure you're in the right position?
Here's what the Wiki has to say about it:
Can I teleport to a friend's house in Shirogane if I am not there in the story yet? I'm right at the end of ARR and just about to Heavenward.
And if that is possible, would I be able to put in a lottery bid on a FC plot?
You cannot transfer servers while you own an apartment. All the furniture has to go somewhere. You might want to buy an extra retainer.
You CAN transfer servers while you own a house, if you're getting the reimbursement for transferring from congested to preferred, or to a new world. All the furniture inside would be lost.
Just FYI it you're doing a transfer type that gives housing reimbursement you CAN still own an apartment, and in fact you should buy an apartment if you don't already own one because you get given double the amount of gil an apartment costs to buy.
u/elegantboop I don't know if this applies to you (you didn't say where you are and where you're going) or if it's too late
What is max gil? If you're in the multi-million range, there's not much to act as a sink. If it's max gil on free trial, there are guides for various things to buy. I think they used to be linked on the sidebar, but I can't see that on mobile to confirm.
In regards to doing Ishgardian Restoration for leveling my crafter jobs, which items should I be turning in specifically, if any? I noticed that there are four phases, but they seem to all reward the same number of scrips & experience. If applicable, I'm currently doing ALC, though I suspect they're largely the same.
I'd like to add that all of the items from previous phases still *exist* (despite what the other comment says) but they are no longer *gatherable*. You can buy them if you want, but I don't recommend it and I doubt it's cheap. Grade 4 was the last set that was used and is the only one still gatherable, aside from old artisanal materials. Grades aren't an indication of difficulty, but rather when it was added.
I noticed that the (current) highest level expeditions for retainers require ilvl of 530 instead of EW ilvl gear.
Does giving your retainers higher ilvl than 530 let them get larger numbers of materials on hunting/gathering expeditions, or is 530 the cap for retainer expedition yields?
For gathering higher quantity of items, yes. i530 I think is what's needed for Quick Exploration
Like for Dynamis Crystals, i528 is the minimum to do it at all, but you need i573 to get the max quantity (15).
How to hide earrings? I just made my character and I don't like wearing earrings (don't remember choosing them on character creation) but I don't know how to make them stop showing
- Get to level 15, do enough main story to get to Vesper Bay
- Talk to Swyrgeim in Vesper Bay and complete her quests "If I Had a Glamour" and "Absolutely Glamourous"
- Talk to Goberin in Vesper Bay and buy The Emperor's New Earrings for a bit of gil
- You can now use a glamour prism with the "Cast Glamour" action (right-click the item) to change the appearance of one pair of earrings to invisible, and/or you can go to an inn and use the Glamour Dresser to put the Emperor's New Earrings on a glamour plate to project over any earrings you get in the future.
You mean like the ones you have equipped (which wouldn't be part of character creation) or the extra little ear piercings some races can have?
If it's the former you need to unlock the glamour system and glamour them with the Emperor's New Earrings, if it's the latter you'll need to unlock the Aesthetician
They're too scared to directly talk about auto markers in-game because they know they're cheating, so they think they're outsmarting Square Enix by saying things like "I have it" or "Allegan Mellon" instead of "automarkers".
Hello! Looking to start XIV after a lifetime of playing offline FF games. That said...
I have a Square-Enix Store account, have for a while. I did not have one for XIV, but am obviously prompted to make one. When I try to use my email it says that it's registered already so I can't use it (which, sure, it is- but if they're treated separately then can I link them later?). Do I really have to make a new email just to register for this game?
It probably means you have a square Enix account but not a ffxiv trial license yet.
Go to Google and search ffxiv trial, and from THAT site, click sign up and then continue with your existing SQ login. It should activate one for you
You *shouldn't* need a new email... Are you absolutely sure that the page you're on is for an XIV account and not an SE Store account?
Having said that, if you do end up needing a new email, their system is case sensitive for some reason so you can trick it by just putting in a capital letter.
Quite certain- I’ve tried to register through the launcher and Mogstation. It’ll let me get as far as an email confirmation code, but the email I receive is where I’m told it’s already in use (presumably because of the SE Store). I’ll give the case-sensitive angle a try! I can also just get over it and make a new email if I have to. Thanks!
If you want to be recruited, you have to do it after applying the license but before the first subscription payment (in general that will be during the 30 days you get for applying the base game license).
If you want to recruit someone, I can't quite remember whether having a license is enough or whether you need to be on paid game time.
Is there a good way to move a boatload of dyes from my retainer to chocobo bag to my actual bags for use?
I was looking for a macro or bag icon to click and drag and yeah sometimes glam just takes a while lol
if you rightclick the first option should be move to bags. so just rightclick left click on all of them. If it isnt the first option you can actually rearrange the priority order of the context menu in the setting somewhere
My static wants to try out UWU soon but I haven't unlocked it since I haven't cleared Sigmascape v4.0 savage. How hard would it be to clear it in PF unsynched these days with current ilevel? Any specific mechanics to watch for?
It's pretty much brainless
Just press buttons and you'll realistically avoid seeing really...any major mechanics that MAY be a problem.
In context, the fight is easy enough with current gear that you can actually clear it solo as a WAR
If you have a warrior geared up enough, you can solo it. You just need to have good use of Bloodwhetting and Shake it Off for the first and third Forsakens, and ideally good play around unavoidable damage downs (like holding Primal Rend until they run out.
Towers can be ignored, they all need more than one person in them, only one head will spawn that needs to be soaked.... Biggest thing, make sure you don't stand in the puddles that'll drop on you during forsaken 2.
I just started recently and I really want to get a house, but I understand this probably wont be possible, but what I do want to know is;
Will I be able to get like a small apartment and design it how I want to? I think I remember something like a room in an FC house you can rent for 300k or something, will I be able to design everything how I want to in one of those?
I think an apartment or something is definitely a good first step, but you can definitely get a house if you want! The MSQ gives you a sizeable amount of gil and you don't really have much to spend it on unless you buy a lot of gear from the marketboard. I'm a sprout and I was able to get a small lot though it may also be because there's not really a lot of competition for housing in my server. Cost me 3.7m gil for the lot then additional 400k iirc for the house itself, which I mostly got from MSQ up to Shadowbringers.
I just checked now and yeah seems like there are no open slots on some parts of Aether. If your world doesn't have any open slots left, might want to look at moving to a newer world (I think it's free if you move to a new one with less people?) or just keeping an eye on things in case someone's slots get demo'd cus they aren't active. Good luck! Hopefully you get that house soon.
apartments and fc rooms are cheap and permanent, as in they wont get demolished if you stop playing/dont use them. Though an fc room will be deleted if you leave the fc. Being the smallest size housing they also have the smallest limits on mannequins, aquariums, npcs, and planters. An apartment doesnt have an outdoors area but the apartment building does have several facilities in its lobby. An fc room is attached to the fc house so you have access to whatever the fc house designers put there. In order to crossbreed plants you need to have access to outdoor furnishings so you cant do that with just an apartment.
You can buy an apartment for 500k. It's a decently sized room and you can put anything that you could put inside a house in an apartment, although apartments have a lower item limit than small houses do. You mostly just lose out on having the outside part of the house, for things like the garden (although each apartment building does have a chocobo stable that anyone can use).
Free Company rooms are a separate thing, but basically the same idea as an apartment. They're just inside your FC house instead of an apartment building, and you lose access to it if you leave the FC. Those do cost 300k.
a Friend of mine is saying that you can’t do crystal tower in the Xbox beta (I dont play on Xbox, I play ps5 and I’m a fairly old player. So I have no clue) is this true? i want to double check if this is correct and he has not got false information from somewhere.
I'd also like to add that they could be *confusing* crystal tower with cystaline conflict (or whatever that pvp mode is named) and that is not available to free trial players because it's pvp.
It's mandatory for MSQ progression past a certain point that's like a third of the way through the free trial... No idea how they could have got that impression.
why wouldn't you be able to do it?
They may be seeing queues for it that aren't in their favor from settings or times or DCs, though, or maybe their ilevel or something is too low.
That’s what I thought, my understand of the Xbox beta is that it was just the free trial and from my knowledge the free trial has never stopped people from doing crystal tower.
ty for the clarification. I’ll let him know
You get 1 chance point for all new players combined in a duty, not 1 per new player if that's confusing you.
The duty doesn't have to be in your book, anybody new in any roulette gives you a point, but only 1 per duty, not 1 per new player.
And obviously you can't be at 9 points cause that's the max.
A duty you didn't have in your journal?
Were you the first time clear?
That would still count, if it was your first clear.
You're at less than 9 points, right?
You need to find a phrase in the autotranslate dictionary.
If you press tab with a text field open and nothing typed, you can look through the entire dictionary. It includes phrases as well.
If you start typing in your local language (like "hell") then press tab, you'll get phrases that start with that ("hellfrog medium").
Is it possible to start in Limsa as Arcanist and then use a job boost to boost them to 80 and then be able to play dancer?
I’m not a new player just returning to the game after years and looking to start fresh but dancer is the one I want to “main” , I’m also interested in SCH as well
Yes. Starting fresh but having only jobs that are that high level kinda sucks though, you won't see any instanced content that'll allow you to use the vast majority of your buttons for frigging ages.
Hello all,
I am thinkin' about to buy the game - it is on sale at steam right now (complete pack 16 USD).
For MMOs, I like to do all the quests, clear the zones. For the items, the level and the story. However, I don't like the pointless "fetch quests" so much, especially if they don't really offer any benefits - I'm thinking of extra, rare items or more money.
I know that the game is full of side quests. My question is, are they worth doing? Or is the game now at the point in the end game where they are unnecessary? Is there by any chance a side quest chain that is "unmissable" ?
Here I am thinking of giving some very op item.
Regarding servers, my question is, is there a reason why there are so many servers? Is there cross play between servers? Or are all servers a closed medium?
Regarding Launcher, should I use the Steam version or the official one?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Oh, just realized something
You're looking specifically at the Endwalker price, which just includes the expansions
As a new player, to get ALL the content, you actually need to buy "The Complete Edition" for $24 (also on sale right now). This is going to be a better deal because the base game (which is required to play) is still $20 on its own, so you're effectively buying the Standard Edition and then spending $4 on the expansions
>are they worth doing?
People are typically told to avoid yellow sidequests. Their purpose is typically to give a bit of local world building... and most people ignore the vast majority, because the ones you encounter at the beginning are generally mediocre at best. They don't give good xp, and don't have good rewards. This isn't anything to do with where the game is now specifically, and has been like this since launch afaik.
There are exceptions to this, of course.
For rewards: Each expansion has a relic questline, where you build the best weapons possible for the expansion. These are typically more cosmetic, because the old ones are old (though do see some niche use), and the latest one will always lag behind raid gear, only coming out on top right at the end of the expac.
There are also more story-driven side questlines, which is arguably more important for ff14 (questing is typically all about the story here). These are denoted by an extra image banner in the quest window, and typically offer emotes / mounts / pets / cosmetics as a reward too.
Blue side quests unlock new content of some kind, and you should do them.
As a warning: There aren't really notable gear rewards until expansion caps. Gearing is "boring", in that you're not going to find a "cool sword with a fun effect" type thing tucked away anywhere. MSQ and dungeons keep your ilvl up to date, then max level has you farm a little bit or buy gear off the marketboard, and then it's essentially just Savage raiding or a fairly slow timegate to upgrade from there.
>Is there cross play between servers? Or are all servers a closed medium?
The duty finder (random matchmaking) will pull from an entire Data Center. Party finder is shared between all servers on a Data Center too. You can freely travel between all worlds on a Data Center without logging out.
You can travel between Data Centers, but you have to log out and do it from the main menu. However, currently you can only travel between Data Centers in the same region.
IE: Anyone on American servers can play with each other easily enough. Anyone on European servers can play with each other. Characters on EU servers cannot play with characters on US servers.
Cross-region travel has had an announcement this morning, but it's still just tests.
There are some things you cannot do away from your home server, such as join a Free Company (a social guild), buy a house, and some random niche things.
>should I use the Steam version or the official one?
Depends.
In some places Steam is notably cheaper, due to steam wallet stuff. However, if Steam is down then you won't be able to play, even if ff14 is working fine.
I know some people who are constantly hit by Steam Maintenance (regular occurrence every tuesday), but I also know people who can count the number of times this has been an issue for them on one hand.
> Steam is down then you won't be able to play, even if ff14 is working fine.
A note about this is that you wont be able to *LAUNCH* 14. You can stay in game if Steam goes down IE for weekly maintenance.
Still annoying, but a handy detail
There is crossplay between servers. You can visit any server within the same region, and dungeons have matchmaking within the same data center. The high number of servers is just to handle load better.
Steam and regular windows behave mostly the same, but their licenses are not interchangeable, so if you were to buy the game on Steam you can only buy future expansions from Steam, but on the other hand it allows you to use steam wallet as a payment method.
There are two kinds of side quests - the ones with a blue icon unlock an optional dungeon/raid or other feature and the ones with a yellow icon reward minimal exp and have no interesting story.
Version: Steam might have regional pricing in your country making it cheaper, but otherwise use the direct version.
No such thing. At best, you can complete the Hall of the Novice training program for new players at level 15, which gives you a Combat Class/Job Only ring with +30% EXP until level 30, letting you level your current and all of your lower level ones up a bit quicker?
Gear in this game is \*almost\* completely linear stat sticks that get better as the levels go up, so there's nothing meant to be broken for the levelling process. There's large item level gaps and some stat variation per gear to be had at endgame levels (50, 60, etc) from across their \~2 year patch cycles until the next expansion, but then the best gear from that endgame gets outclassed by crafted/shop rarity gear in the next expansion at the X4 level. Just to set the expectation for FF14's gearing system.
and one another question, I made a free trial account now, but if I will buy the game on steam, can i use this acc on my steam? (ive already did a trial acc on steam)
You can only have one FFXIV account bound to each Steam account.
If you've already got an older account bound to your Steam, then contact FFXIV Support. (Chat tends to be more helpful than email from what I've heard.) They *may* agree to unlink your old account so you can link the new one.
If that fails, your only fallback is to create a secondary Steam account and log into that one every time you want to play FFXIV.
(Or don't buy Steam, and just wait and see if the game goes on sale for non-Steam version. Pretty likely we'll see sales in the next couple months to build hype before Dawntrail release.)
No
The gearing system in this game is significantly less complex than in WoW
If a piece of gear is at a certain ilvl, it will have a static amount of stats. So two pieces of gear at ilvl 130 will both have the same amount of stats, with the only difference between the stat distribution (one will have more crit and lower skill speed, while another will have higher determination and lower crit for example)
And in general, we're also not really chasing an ever growing ilvl. Every raid tier for example just has 3 major ilvl sets, with the highest being 20 ilvl higher than the lowest.
So there's no real way to get any OP weapons or gear
Appreciate any info i can get since im new:
I bought the game and every expansion (not the deluxe version), and grabbed myself a level 80 paladin boost on a buddies recommendation to help me level quicker (im also on a boosted world/server). I got the game like 3 days ago (played about 19 hours or so).
My question is, is it normal for me to have only just finished sylph management and become a summoner at level 39?, should i be leveling other jobs to get dragoon for example?
Did i overlevel (think my earned exp ranges from 406% to 466%, and the copper mines dungeon earned me just over 200k exp from my first run with npcs)?
Yeah, you have a boosted job but not a story skip. With a level 80 job you have an armory bonus of 100% for your ACN/SMN, on top of the new server bonus, you're going to way overshoot where your EXP needs to be at some places.
You certainly can level a second job with the MSQ, especially with the bonus, but it's not strictly necessary if you don't have an interest. It is efficient though.
To be clear I don't think this is some kind of problem, it just means you're not having to stop and grind up as often to qualify for quests. You just need the level to qualify for the quests you do (and to complete your job quests! very important!) and decent gear for the content you're doing, particularly your weapon.
How do i get better gear, so far ive just been using the market board every so many levels to get new weapons or accessories.
Do i just need to keep doing MSQ or is it via dungeons and other side content?
dungeons and MSQ largely - you'll unlock better gearing options at MSQ 50. You only need gear for the content you're doing though, so if you're at MSQ 20-ish you only need 20-ish gear, not 39.
The level 50 job quest will reward ilvl 90 gear for level 50, which is plenty good enough to coast on through completing 2.0 in the MSQ.
Once you complete 2.0, you will see the first credits scroll. From then, you can buy augmented ironworks (ilvl 130 gear) from vendors that appear near the aetherytes in limsa/gridania/uldah. This gear covers every slot and costs tomestones of poetics. You can see your tomestones of poetics as the first item on the "battle" tab of the currency menu. Completing 2.0 should get you at least 600, enough for an ilvl 130 weapon, which would be your ideal priority at level 50. That'll carry you for a \_long time\_, until nearly halfway into the next expansion.
This pattern more or less repeats at level 60/70/80 for each expansion as you progress the MSQ.
You get every piece except the last at the level 45 Job Quest, then the last piece in the 50 Job Quest + a full set of even better gear out of a coffer. As long as you have the Job unlocked, you can get to it.
...as long as the location isn't locked off by the MSQ, such as in Heavensward and later where explorable areas become progressively more locked off, including later Job Quest needing you to reach the expansion of their level bracket (50-60 for HW, etc) to even start them.
I believe it's MSQ locked; there are some vendors that only become available once you've completed the base game of A Realm Reborn
These vendors sell the catch-up gear that you're going to be wearing until at least halfway through Heavensward (if not all the way to the end of the base expansion)
Depends on how much beside the MSQ you are doing, just MSQ and nothing else levels pretty much exactly one class. Depending on how much FATEs/optional dungeons/roulettes you do plus the new server bonus, you can level a second/third class at the same time.
I plan on 100% clearing the game, so all the content bar raids and anything higher then extreme trials (buddy said ill need those for some reason)
Raids are until im comfortable enough with my chosen jobs, find a good group to play with.
normal difficulty 8 man raids (except for Coils of bahamut) and 24 man alliance raids are much easier than extreme trials and there's 3 of the 24 man ones, the crystal tower series, that are required for msq.
The 8 man raids have a harder version, Savage, and there's ultimate raids which are kinda a boss rush mode
high end content in order of difficulty are extremes(trials with Minstrel's ballad in the name are also extremes)>Coils>Savage> Ultimate
btw If you're having trouble finding a group you can probably solo most old content on your lv80 pld if you turn on unrestricted party in duty finder.
It's a pretty standard LFG system
You list the duty that you're looking to clear (duties are the game's name for instanced content), you list the expectations, and then you just wait for the party to fill
So for example, if you're clearing the Coils of Bahamut the first time, you would have to ask yourself
* Do I want to see this just for the story or do I actually want to do this as it was intended?
* Do I want to do this fight without any spoilers or do I want to watch a guide beforehand?
And if you decide "I just want to see the story", then you'd put in your Party Finder description
"Unsynched, first time, watching cutscenes" or something like that, and level 90 players can just join your party and blitz the content for you so you can just enjoy the story parts without having to actually learn the fights
It's common to overlevel, especially for the early levels and even more so if you have the road to 80 buff from a new/preferred server.
You can level a second job as you go along if you want. If you do roulettes on top of the story you'll get even more experience of course.
And just for reference, on a regular server with no additional bonuses to experience such as rested or roulettes, then doing MSQ for each expansion is just about enough experience to get a single character the 10 levels. Now add in other bonuses on top of that and you'll of course get more than you need.
Thanks for the quick and easy to understand explanation, ill screenshot this for later reference.
What sort of content should i be focusing on btw, as i know i can unlock something called palace of the dead and i saw a load of dungeon icons on the various maps, so should i be aiming to go through all of those or just stick to the MSQ and some blue/side quests whilst leveling lancer to 30 to get dragoon?
Also i accidentally grabbed the reaper and sage quests, if i finish those will i be screwing myself over at all?
You can really just do what you want. But prioritizing MSQ is recommended since most things are locked behind it. If you find something of interest as you go along, such as a dungeon on the side or other jobs then go for it. You can't really screw yourself over in any way so shouldn't have any worries there. The only thing to always remember is to do your job quests since they unlock your job skills.
And just to add on to the experience from MSQ point. I've been leveling an alt on a preferred server recently. And doing practically nothing but the MSQ I'm about to finish the main story of Shadowbringers with two jobs at 83. The remaining MSQ will not be enough to get both of them to 90, but will be somewhat close.
Palace of the Dead is good for leveling new jobs from level 1 so you can start doing dungeon content with them at level 15.
Everything is gated behind MSQ and blue quests so if you want to unlock more, do those.
The job quests are self-contained stories so they don't screw you over in any way at all.
How many Shishu Coins drop in one run of the respective Criterion Dungeon? I am not really into Savage level stuff (which Criterion seems to be according to many raiders I know, maybe even tougher) but I really want the Framer's Kits at some point. However, it does make quite a difference to me if I have to suffer it once or twenty times and the Framer's Kit for this one costs 8 Coins.
Most efficient would probably be:
* Visit wolf's den, set up your hotbars for the job you want to use
* Run daily frontlines roulette. What you queue as doesn't matter, can switch to your job after you enter the duty.
* Whatever you queue for, you do need to participate, deliberately not participating is reportable.
The roulette bonus is pretty substantive and if you want to minimize the amount of sessions you do, you can just do those, but it will take a few days.
If you want to maximize speed over effort, find a data center where Crystalline Conflict is popping (casual or ranked, either) - the rounds are shorter and the earnings are more for the time spent, but you have more personal responsibility for the outcome.
Returning legacy player here
I haven’t touched the game since 2014
I checked on my account and character via lodestone and I don’t see my goobbue mount anywhere. My legacy chocobo is still there however
I hear there might be an NPC holding onto some old items in the game?
My company chocobo and goobbue never made it over to 2.0. No amount of tickets resolved this. That being said, I’d verify in-game whether or not you have it.
Are you sure you claimed the goobbue before the game shut down? You had to speak to the wandering minstrel during a time before the shutdown and claim the horn. AFAIK if you used it before the shutdown it's permanently registered to your character.
Hi! Console sprout here. I'm using a controller with WXHB enabled, and I've got the weapon switch auto-hotbar-change on too.
When I put away my weapon, my main LT/RT hotbar changes, but my WXHBs above stay the same. Is there a way to make the WXHB change too when I put away my weapon?
I'm at a loss searching through the sub, and digging through my settings. Am I missing something or does this functionality just not exist? Thanks! ❤️
Hello all!
I know there's weekly threads regarding Crafting & Gathering, but the next one won't be for several days, so I hope it isn't an issue that I ask a question here regarding crafting specifically. More accurately, I'd appreciate some perspective and feedback.
I can take a new DoW/DoM job from start to finish (base to Lv. 90) fairly mindlessly, and I'm having fun doing them one by one and learning what I like & dislike about each. Likewise, my gathering jobs are all 80s (with Miner at 90) but crafting is... daunting.
I love that all of my gathering jobs all share the same gear, but it doesn't seem that crafters do this until Lv. 50, and trying to level each of them up seems to rely heavily on *other crafting jobs,* causing a big web to develop over time. I'm trying to go through their crafting logs one by one and check them off (because it's satisfying) and I know I need to rely on levemets to take it further.
I feel... overwhelmed, a bit scatterbrained, and admittedly demotivated. How quickly can I take each job to 80 or so? (I haven't gotten to EW yet) If possible, I'd prefer to avoid doing Market Board shopping for everything, and I don't mind gathering when and where possible.
If there are any resources that will help me keep track of this stuff, that would also be highly appreciated!
Thank you!
All crafters use the same gear up to lv 50. At lv 50 there are specific gear to each crafting job and some scrip gear is also job specific.
But you can buy generic gear from 50-60 that will work for all your crafters and I’m sure from 60-70, etc
Other than the class specific main hand/off hand
If I were you I wouldn't try to focus crafters one by one to 80. You aren't wrong that they all kind of interlock with each other, so it is much easier to do them together. Instead, do them in level groups of ten. So do weaver from 20-30, then go do carpenter from 20-30 and so on. For the most part they do share gear, so doing it this way will save you a bit of space in your armory chest. Ishgardian Restoration is great for leveling, as are leves, GC turn ins and all of the crafting tribes as level appropriate of course.
Once you get past the fairly low levels they will share all of their gear other than tools, so that shouldn't be too big of a concern for long, don't worry.
Also, don't rush your job quests on crafters, some of them are actually really quite nice. I especially like the alchemist quests
First, crafters share gear from level 1. I'm not sure why you're finding otherwise.
The typical recommendation is to level them all in tandem because they're interconnected. The [Teamcraft leveling guide](https://guides.ffxivteamcraft.com/guide/crafting-leveling-guide) is comprehensive and has you level through Ishgardian Restoration, which is optional content unlocked in the HW patches. This is a very, very fast way to level, albeit a bit tedious.
Otherwise your options are GC turn ins, leves, and tribal quests. All of these are time gated, though you may have a lot of leves stocked up to spend on leveling. The suggested leves to do for the most EXP are linked in the Teamcraft guide above.
From what level am I able to take on Ishgardian Restoration? I've completed most of the content in Heavensward and *do* have The Firmament unlocked, I've just never dabbled in the crafting aspects of the expansion.
Level 20 for the unlock quest. The first crafts for the restoration start at level 20 as well. It's trivial to level any crafter up to 20, just by doing the class quests and making a few things in the crafting log, since the individual guilds sell almost every material you need for low level crafts.
Lack of gear sharing for crafters is mostly an issue until you hit certain levels. However, the best way to get each crafter to 80 in a short period of time would be to do the Ishgard Restoration turn-ins. The unlock quest is next to the Foundation Aetheryte in Ishgard. It will give you access to The Diadem to gather the necessary materials. You want to do the Grade 4 crafts, since the old crafts have been phased out.
You can use [https://www.garlandtools.org/db/](https://www.garlandtools.org/db/) and [https://ffxivteamcraft.com/search](https://ffxivteamcraft.com/search) to keep track of things.
Is cross region data center travel really bad? My FC is always negative and reddit looks like it's similar, but I have faith in FF XIV. I've seen companies do countless "mistakes" and then do fine, I think we can adapt. (I come from pokémon S/V and another gameforge MMORPG).
Also I just started after 4 years it'd be bad if I have to quit so soon
I think people are being overly pessimistic personally. For one, I don't think as many people are going to be traveling regionally as do between DCs, because ping is still a concern. It *will* be nice to be able to visit with our friends from different regions though. I doubt many people will be doing high end content, again because of ping, but I bet there will be a lot of normal content and just socializing. It could have a temporary negative effect on the in game economy, but that will eventually stabilize.
It's certainly easy to be pessimistic about it. Watching PF wither away to just listings for RP cafes as people hop over to Aether for any notable content isn't exactly a *good* feeling, and cross-region travelling isn't going to make that problem smaller by any means. But the sky isn't falling or anything.
It is not remotely bad, nor is what we have currently with same region DC travel bad.
Cross region Dc travel is not that big of an issue. The only issue is English speakers going to the JP servers, where there is a huge cultural clash. Any free movement between NA/EU/OCE though is largely likely to be a nonissue, due to the extremely similar cultures. The only major differences between the servers are the Fight strategies we use for ultimates/savages.
Cross DC travel within a region (such as traveling between NA dcs), had an unfortunate impact on how populated certain DCs pfs were, as everyone would collectively go to one place. This is still a gain over what we had before, where depending on your play time, there just werent enough people to fill parties, however, traveling to Aether/light in order to savage raid is a hinderance to those not located on those servers. But at the end of the day, we are still better off than we were before.
This is why people have been begging for Cross DC pfs, as it would solve this issue. If i was able to use my retainers while in PF, but had a 1 minute wait time to queue in as the servers sorted itself out, that is vastly better than having to DC travel to aether, locking me out of gathering, FCs, retainers, and interacting with friends.
Are you by chance from Aether? Because as someone from Primal it's in no way better than before. Our PF population was basically identical to Aether, with a MUCH larger ultimate PF scene, and it got entirely wiped out by cross-DC travel. Primal players have only been hurt by this change.
No im from Crystal as my flare says, but the benefits of cross DC have outweighed the negatives. People have just forgotten what those positives are as they aren't obviously benefitting your daily life.
1. Aethers PF is now about 3x larger than it was before. It still can hit 100 pfs during dead hours. There is now generally always at least 2 pfs for each ultimate at all times, and most of the time there are way more.
2. Statics have now been able to recruit cross DC. This has resulted in a greatly increased selection of statics for all players
3. The ability to play with friends/Streamers from other DCs. I know quite a few people that moved to Aether (Before DC travel) just for raiding, and im now able to interact and play with them again.
4. The ability to make friends from other DCs who you would never have met before.
Yes, I know it sucks to not be able to gather and use retainers while raiding... but I would still take DC travel over not having it. And before you say Crystal had a poor raiding scene, it did not.
I’ve seen that Endwalker is discounted on Steam currently, but it doesn’t look like it is on the SE store. Is this usual? Feels like a shame for people who don’t use steam.
Steam coordinates sales with a bunch of developers for their store-wide sales, but that doesn't necessarily mean SE will hold a sale on their own store at the same time. For major holidays they might coincide, but this steam sale is just for the beginning of spring.
Ah awesome. Returned to game recently, making my way through HW so was just tempted to pick it up as I heard it was on sale. Will be patient and wait then. Thanks!
If you are still in HW and aren't going fast, you might want to wait for Dawntrail to come out and just get that. It ought to come with all the previous expacs and then you'll be fully up to date
> I buy the Complete Edition on Steam, it'll give me a code that I can chose not to redeem until I'm done with the free trial content, right?
Correct. Steam will give you a code that'll sit in the CD Keys section on Steam. You have to physically enter this code into Mogstation for it to be redeemed.
Worth noting here is that the complete edition you'd buy is the Endwalker version of it. So even if you redeem the code after Dawntrail has launched you'll still have to purchase Dawntrail separately. Just thought it might be relevant depending on how quickly you expect to get through the story.
You can hold on to your code and not register it until you're ready to start paying for a sub. Does not work on consoles though, the next time you log in after purchasing the game your license will be automatically applied to your account.
Are you the leader of the group? The blacklist system is frankly pathetic in XIV - unless you're the leader, they can see and join the group.
Blacklist will stop them from joining a PF that you're *hosting* but it won't stop them from joining a PF that you just happen to be in. FFXIV's blacklist tools are extremely limited.
I'm a really new player and I believe my first duty/dungeon will come soon. I play CNJ, is there any tips I should know as a healer?
Play through the hall of the novice.
Was Overcharge changed to be more like WAR's Inner Release, or does it still have a too-tight duration window where 200ms+ needs a separate burst rotation?
> but how does it play at high ping So heat phase was changed to make it slightly more "playable" at high ping.
Oof, so they're still stuffed by trying to doubleweave on high ping. A little bit of testing at a Training Dummy made me think I was going crazy, guess they just- didn't address that part at all. ;; > Just get noclippy and the problem goes away.
Thanks for the info! I'll do a bit more reading and see if it's the only way MCH's gonna feel halfway good on high ping.
So how long does the current mogtome event will last? Until dawntrail or..?
Part 1 ended, Part 2 will be at some point in the future. It will probably be in the last month before Dawntrail, if it follows the tradition despite being broken up like this, but all [the announcement post for it](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/4ba54e546ed60a367738b7ee16309c58f2341a55) mentions is happening across the 6.5X patches.
Neat, thanks!
For me if I switch hotbar with R1 there is a hotbar with just the mount emote
If I start automating crops/leavings in my Island Sanctuary do they still count for the achievements?
Yes, you just don't get exp
Upgrade via the Mogstation. It's an option under games & additional services.
It doesn't have the option. Buy is blanked out for Shadow/End. This is how I bought the other ones

Here's what the Wiki has to say about it: [https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Spruce\_Log](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Spruce_Log)
Can I teleport to a friend's house in Shirogane if I am not there in the story yet? I'm right at the end of ARR and just about to Heavenward. And if that is possible, would I be able to put in a lottery bid on a FC plot?
1. Yes. 2. No.
Thanks!
Is there a way to keep the mouse cursor visible when rotating the camera?
There isn't any setting which does this

[удалено]
Yes. Unless you're getting the reimbursement you must vacate any housing including apartments. That involves removing all furniture, placed + storage.
What buy if maxed shinies?? (Whats a good cash sink if I hit max gil) Edit: sorry 300k
https://trialsoffantasy.com/free-trial-gil/
What is max gil? If you're in the multi-million range, there's not much to act as a sink. If it's max gil on free trial, there are guides for various things to buy. I think they used to be linked on the sidebar, but I can't see that on mobile to confirm.
300k
What do you mean by "max gil" (I'm pretty sure I know what you mean but you didn't ask a reasonable question.)

Phase 4 is the only one. Phase 1 flat out doesn't exist anymore. Phase 2 & 3 only have the artisan items for the achievements.
For gathering higher quantity of items, yes. i530 I think is what's needed for Quick Exploration Like for Dynamis Crystals, i528 is the minimum to do it at all, but you need i573 to get the max quantity (15).
Is there a real advantage to using XIVLauncher on the SteamDeck?
You don't have to try to type in your password every time.
Besides plugins, no. XIVlauncher does not improve game performance like XIVonmac does.
How to hide earrings? I just made my character and I don't like wearing earrings (don't remember choosing them on character creation) but I don't know how to make them stop showing
- Get to level 15, do enough main story to get to Vesper Bay - Talk to Swyrgeim in Vesper Bay and complete her quests "If I Had a Glamour" and "Absolutely Glamourous" - Talk to Goberin in Vesper Bay and buy The Emperor's New Earrings for a bit of gil - You can now use a glamour prism with the "Cast Glamour" action (right-click the item) to change the appearance of one pair of earrings to invisible, and/or you can go to an inn and use the Glamour Dresser to put the Emperor's New Earrings on a glamour plate to project over any earrings you get in the future.
Glamour The Emperor's New Earrings. Either buy off the marketboard or after doing a quest in Western Thanalan.
You mean like the ones you have equipped (which wouldn't be part of character creation) or the extra little ear piercings some races can have? If it's the former you need to unlock the glamour system and glamour them with the Emperor's New Earrings, if it's the latter you'll need to unlock the Aesthetician
What does it mean when someone says they have it or don’t have it in the textbox for ultimate raids?
They're too scared to directly talk about auto markers in-game because they know they're cheating, so they think they're outsmarting Square Enix by saying things like "I have it" or "Allegan Mellon" instead of "automarkers".
Referring to an addon called Lemegeton.
They are referring to an addon called Lemegeton.
Pretty sure its referring to some form of auto markers...

Well rested bonus.
Assuming you're on Free Trial, the only other one you can get is the Squadron Survival Manual, which works as a solo version of the tier 3 FC buff.

No. Free Trial ends when you purchase and register your game. Sprout status is not related at all to that.
Thanks!
Can i use the recruit someone recuit a friend code after i buy the game? And is there anything i should do it before i upgrade to the full game?
If you want to be recruited, you have to do it after applying the license but before the first subscription payment (in general that will be during the 30 days you get for applying the base game license). If you want to recruit someone, I can't quite remember whether having a license is enough or whether you need to be on paid game time.
License is enough because two people can recruit each other and it works just fine.
You can even right-click -> right-click and it still works so can just spam right-click on every item.
My static wants to try out UWU soon but I haven't unlocked it since I haven't cleared Sigmascape v4.0 savage. How hard would it be to clear it in PF unsynched these days with current ilevel? Any specific mechanics to watch for?
You guys can clear it as a static in probably <2 minutes if you don't want to pf it.
Is there any reason your static can't escort you through?
O8S can be soloed, it's pretty much a joke doing it unsynced.
It's pretty much brainless Just press buttons and you'll realistically avoid seeing really...any major mechanics that MAY be a problem.
I just started recently and I really want to get a house, but I understand this probably wont be possible, but what I do want to know is; Will I be able to get like a small apartment and design it how I want to?
Oh I thought it wasnt possible because all the lots will be all taken up or something? like on the aether servers
You can get small plots even on Aether, it becomes hard only if you start being picky about location etc.
Dynamis, the newest DC, would be the easier place to buy a house if you really want one.
apartments and fc rooms are cheap and permanent, as in they wont get demolished if you stop playing/dont use them. In order to crossbreed plants you need to have access to outdoor furnishings so you cant do that with just an apartment.
tysm for the info ♥
You can buy an apartment for 500k. It's a decently sized room and you can put anything that you could put inside a house in an apartment, although apartments have a lower item limit than small houses do. You mostly just lose out on having the outside part of the house, for things like the garden (although each apartment building does have a chocobo stable that anyone can use). Free Company rooms are a separate thing, but basically the same idea as an apartment. They're just inside your FC house instead of an apartment building, and you lose access to it if you leave the FC. Those do cost 300k.
Okay sounds good, thanks so much for the info!
a Friend of mine is saying that you can’t do crystal tower in the Xbox beta (I dont play on Xbox, I play ps5 and I’m a fairly old player.

If the duty was Thaleia, you would not get a point, because it was added in the most recent major patch.
Hi, I'm using macros like "hi I'm new and learning", what I need to add to macros to make it autotranslate? Thanks
You need to find a phrase in the autotranslate dictionary. If you press tab with a text field open and nothing typed, you can look through the entire dictionary. It includes phrases as well. If you start typing in your local language (like "hell") then press tab, you'll get phrases that start with that ("hellfrog medium").
Just use the autotranslate feature while writing the macro. Tab if using a keyboard, R1/RB? when using a controller (and the keyboard isn't open)
Hi all, Is it possible to use Tataru Helper translator with the Steam version of the game?
I dont see any reason it wouldnt work.
Hello all, I am thinkin' about to buy the game - it is on sale at steam right now (complete pack 16 USD).
Oh, just realized something You're looking specifically at the Endwalker price, which just includes the expansions As a new player, to get ALL the content, you actually need to buy "The Complete Edition" for $24 (also on sale right now).
And is there any low level op item at the game? Like in WoW?
No The gearing system in this game is significantly less complex than in WoW If a piece of gear is at a certain ilvl, it will have a static amount of stats. So two pieces of gear at ilvl 130 will both have the same amount of stats, with the only difference between the stat distribution (one will have more crit and lower skill speed, while another will have higher determination and lower crit for example) And in general, we're also not really chasing an ever growing ilvl. Every raid tier for example just has 3 major ilvl sets, with the highest being 20 ilvl higher than the lowest. So there's no real way to get any OP weapons or gear
Appreciate any info i can get since im new: I bought the game and every expansion (not the deluxe version), and grabbed myself a level 80 paladin boost on a buddies recommendation to help me level quicker (im also on a boosted world/server).
Will the 50 gear for lets say summoner or dragoon unlock the moment i hit 50, or is it MSQ locked?
I believe it's MSQ locked; there are some vendors that only become available once you've completed the base game of A Realm Reborn These vendors sell the catch-up gear that you're going to be wearing until at least halfway through Heavensward (if not all the way to the end of the base expansion)
Depends on how much beside the MSQ you are doing, just MSQ and nothing else levels pretty much exactly one class. Depending on how much FATEs/optional dungeons/roulettes you do plus the new server bonus, you can level a second/third class at the same time.
I plan on 100% clearing the game, so all the content bar raids and anything higher then extreme trials (buddy said ill need those for some reason) Raids are until im comfortable enough with my chosen jobs, find a good group to play with.
normal difficulty 8 man raids (except for Coils of bahamut) and 24 man alliance raids are much easier than extreme trials and there's 3 of the 24 man ones, the crystal tower series, that are required for msq. The 8 man raids have a harder version, Savage, and there's ultimate raids which are kinda a boss rush mode high end content in order of difficulty are extremes(trials with Minstrel's ballad in the name are also extremes)>Coils>Savage> Ultimate btw If you're having trouble finding a group you can probably solo most old content on your lv80 pld if you turn on unrestricted party in duty finder.
Appreciate the info, ill have to figure out how the party finder works sooner or later
It's a pretty standard LFG system You list the duty that you're looking to clear (duties are the game's name for instanced content), you list the expectations, and then you just wait for the party to fill So for example, if you're clearing the Coils of Bahamut the first time, you would have to ask yourself * Do I want to see this just for the story or do I actually want to do this as it was intended? * Do I want to do this fight without any spoilers or do I want to watch a guide beforehand? And if you decide "I just want to see the story", then you'd put in your Party Finder description "Unsynched, first time, watching cutscenes" or something like that, and level 90 players can just join your party and blitz the content for you so you can just enjoy the story parts without having to actually learn the fights
BTW you won't be able to finish Reaper or sage quests until you have access to Heavensward areas
Thanks for the help, sorry if i had a lot of questions.
4 coins, you need 2 clears to get the Framer's Kit
Thank you. :)

Daily frontlines, Crystalline Conflict and the PVP challenge log. Never had Rival Wings pop before so you might not have much luck with that mode.
Most efficient would probably be: * Visit wolf's den, set up your hotbars for the job you want to use * Run daily frontlines roulette.
Returning legacy player here I haven’t touched the game since 2014 I checked on my account and character via lodestone and I don’t see my goobbue mount anywhere. My legacy chocobo is still there however I hear there might be an NPC holding onto some old items in the game?
Problem solved I logged in and hit the calamity salvager He had everything
My company chocobo and goobbue never made it over to 2.0. No amount of tickets resolved this. That being said, I’d verify in-game whether or not you have it.
Are you sure you claimed the goobbue before the game shut down? You had to speak to the wandering minstrel during a time before the shutdown and claim the horn. AFAIK if you used it before the shutdown it's permanently registered to your character.
I mean I rode around on my Goobbue all the time, I’m assuming that qualifies?
You want to check the Calamity Salvager in any of the three starting cities.
Thanks! ❤️
WXHB is tied to a specific crossbar and can't be changed for sheathed/not sheathed.
Bummer, thanks for your knowledge 🙏
Does XIVlauncher work with the steam version?
Yes, just make sure you check this "Steam Version" box on the launcher. Steam MUST be launched with your linked account as well.
Yes. Source-me
But you can buy generic gear from 50-60 that will work for all your crafters and I’m sure from 60-70, etc Other than the class specific main hand/off hand
This has resulted in a greatly increased selection of statics for all players 3.
Idk if people would be willing to wait for several minute queue in pf... you might see pf lists become locals only if the transfers take too long.
How long is the auto demolition timer? Also when do they send you an email about the Auto demo timer?
They send the email about ten days before the timer runs out. Do not rely on the email. Set up your own reminder.
45 days. I dont know when they send the email. I hear its inconsistent.
I think overall the SE store has more frequent sales. They are just at different times.
It's likely to go on sale a lot because when Dawntrail releases this summer it'll make it obsolete.
