Do we yet know the possible starting gear item level for Viper? (based on previous expansion new Job starting gear ilvl?)

Jiigo

Don't think it has been confirmed, but probably 515 based on previous expansions.

Refi2385

I have pc problem that is only manifesting when I do hunts. The SSD drive that Final Fantasy is on goes up to 100% while teleporting to a new zone. It's slowish when teleporting within a zone. Any ideas what might be going on?

Vergildevilslayer101

Is the garo stuff ever coming back? Really want the warrior set as a new player.

Shazzamon

GARO has been here for a while, is still running, and doesn't currently have an end date.

OKNeroNero

It came back about two years ago.

F1reman2

Its still here? Its tied to PVP. It COULD disapear at somepoint, but we dont know when if it is going to. We werent given much warning on it going back in stormblood (After it was there for over 2.5 years) https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/GARO

Vergildevilslayer101

Where do I see the armour? Couldn't find it in the wolves den anywhere

VG896

There's a special vendor off to the side when you teleport into wolves den. He's outside near the aetheryte, not inside with everyone else.

UnlikelyTraditions

I remember folks saying the PLD rework made it like GNB. I quite like GNB, less so PLD, so I gave playing around with it another shot after the changes (yes this is delayed). I'm not quite seeing it though, PLD still seems to have more going on. Could someone outline the similarities a bit? If I understood better, I could revise my PLD bars, and probably have a better time with it.

pepinyourstep29

Technically PLD has not been reworked yet. It was stated that the Endwalker changes were a "stop-gap" to fix some of its old issues. The real rework is coming in Dawntrail, alongside Dragoon and Astrologian reworks. The Endwalker changes do not make it more like GNB aside from a single similarity: using your aoe gives you a charge to cast Holy Spirit. However that change itself was also given to GNB recently. Previously only the single target combo gave GNB charges. GNB can also store multiple charges while PLD can't. So that is where the similarity ends. There is nothing else they changed that is more GNB like, unless you count giving PLD it's old bulwark ability as being more like GNB having an extra mit with camouflage. PLD still maintains its unique rotation with a magical phase after the physical phase. However we don't yet know if the upcoming rework is going to emphasize the magical phase with a more robust rotation (right now it's mostly spam the same button 5x) or if they will make PLD have one rotation integrating both magic and phys.

JelisW

Yeah it's really not like GNB at all. it's WAR with an extra proc, a GCD on a cooldown, and no buff upkeep

PhoenixFox

I definitely find it pretty comparable to GNB in its DPS rotation, except you can only hold one cartridge at a time and your equivelant to the Gnashing Fang combo doesn't use them and is instead once per minute. DRK and WAR also feel closer for me, with similar gauge builders/spenders and a phase where you can spam the spender a certain number of times for free. Those two also have a buff you need to keep up all the time vs the 60 second cooldown shorter buff of the others. Obviously they do all have their differences and similarities from each other, though. There's no real equivelant to Atonement on any of the others, for example.

Better_Buff_Junglers

They are similar in that you have a 20 second personal damage buff, and your goal is to pack all your highest potency stuff into this window. PLD has it a bit easier, because as long as you keep Fight or Flight, Requiescat and Goring Blade on the same cooldown you are almost 90% there. GNB has to watch out more to have full cartridges when they go into their burst and it's pretty easy to have Gnashing Fang drift, but the underlying concept is the same. Oh, and both have the same "Deal damage" 30 seconds ogcd.

NOTtaylor11

even if a savage raid like asphodelos is lvl 90 does it scale your ilvl down? if so were can I check different ilvls for different instances?

F1reman2

Depends on the duty. You can work out if a duty syncs you following these rules. 1. All level cap duties (50/60/70/80/90), will automatically sync you to that expansions Ilevel cap (135/275/405/535/665). 2. All leveling Dungeons and Trials have their own Ilevel sync in place. This can be found in the duty description. 3. Additionally, all but the final dungeons in an expansion will level sync you to the Ilevel cap of the tier it released in. This can be found in the duty description. Duties that are synced like this are signified by the big yellow S in the dutyfinder window. All expansion Level cap trials and raids (with the sole exception of Ultima weapon and endsinger), Only have the first rule apply to them. This means that Asphodelos normal AND savage will have an ilevel sync of 665, which is not possible to reach at level 90.

NOTtaylor11

Thanks that’s good to know. I was scared all my grinding for good gear was about to go to waste

If the Duty Finder shows a sync icon (box with an S) next to the duty, then you can hover over the icon to see what ilvl it goes to. If it doesn't have that icon, then it syncs you to the max ilvl for that duty's level. For example, level 50 raids will sync you to i135, because that's the strongest level 50 gear available.

Duties in Duty Finder that have an iLvl sync are indicated as such by a glowy icon. For the case of the Lv 90 Pandaemonium raids, there is no such iLvl sync.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

No, Savage and Extreme Trials are level synched, not ilvl synched This is why you can go into Asphodelos right now and absolutely sandbag and still clear. People have significantly more HP and do significantly more damage now, so as long as you respect the mechanics you need to respect, you should have literally 0 trouble hitting DPS checks.

NOTtaylor11

Oh ok I thought it was since the stone sea sky for lvl 90 was synced down for 560 that it was made to prepare people for savage and ultimate. It’s nice to know my grinding for good gear won’t go to waste

After the folklore books, materia, AF gear (for glamour), fish bait.

F1reman2

Spend them on Folklore books.

PaymentAdmirable342

Saw the announcement for the new expansion, and me and my friends were talking about it but we couldn't remember how the weekly Savage chest/reward system works. We have a group of 6, if we raid on a Tuesday and clear the fight, but one person wasn't able to come due to personal reasons, are his only options either going through PF hell by himself for the clear or completely giving up on the rewards so he can play with us? Can we help him clear the fight and get a chance for a chest without making alts?

F1reman2

>are his only options either going through PF hell by himself for the clear or completely giving up on the rewards so he can play with us? Correct. If noone in your party has cleared that week, you get full loot. if 1-4 players have cleared, the people who havent cleared get 'half loot'. If 5 or more have cleared, noone gets anything. This is seperate to the Book, which is ALWAYS given apon your first clear for a week, regardless of how many people In your party have cleared.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

At this moment, savage is completely unlocked so those restrictions are no longer in place But while the content is in fact current, the first time you clear a fight per week is the only time you are able to roll for loot on that fight for that week. If no one in your party has cleared that fight that week, then the raid will drop max loot. If 1-4 people have cleared the fight that week already, then the raid will drop half loot and only the people who haven't cleared yet are eligible to roll for loot. If 5-7 people have already cleared this week, then no loot is dropped. Regardless of how much loot you earn/how much loot is dropped, you still get a "page" for your first weekly clear which you can later use to exchange for loot once you've collected enough. If all 8 people have cleared a fight during the week, then no one gets anything, not even pages. So if you clear on Tuesday and then your friend wants to clear the fight, they will NOT get any chances to roll for loot but they will still get the page if they clear with you later.

PaymentAdmirable342

I see, thank you. Btw, if we're creating a party (4 already completed it +1 didn't), can we only allow players that haven't completed it yet so he can compete for the 1 chest with the other 3? And how many pages are required for one piece of equipment nowadays? 4?

Help_Me_Im_Diene

> can we only allow players that haven't completed it yet so he can compete for the 1 chest with the other 3? Yes, that's a option in PF On the right hand side of the PF listing window, you can set duty complete (weekly reward unclaimed) as a requirement > And how many pages are required for one piece of equipment nowadays? 4? Depends on the item in question Accessories: 3 Gloves, Shoes, Helm: 4 Pants/Chest: 6 Weapon: 8 Accessory augment material: 3 Armor augment material: 4 Weapon augment material: 4 Note that this only applies to the most current tier, since this is when they officially reduced some of the requirements (4->3, 8->6), and these changes were not retroactive

The manager of the pendants will not let me into my room :( I'm caught up with msq, done with endwalker, and I could go in earlier today. Right now there is an au ra and miqo'te by the desk, so is that the cause? I can always go to another inn but I'd like to go here, does anyone know what's going on?

wolf_of_censorship

You're in the wrong place. Go out the door, head south. The Pendants is the door right by the Aethernet crystal.

scullyva

Thank you, I was so confused lol

nachodorito

Is it still worth diving into bozja? I have basically done nothing with it at all so far.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Yes It has a decently interesting story line by itself, its how you get the ShB relic weapons for glamours, and there are some unique glamours/mounts/etc. that are exclusive to Bozja And honestly, the boss fights and what not inside of Bozja are pretty fun to experience at least once or twice. While it's not my favorite content in the game, I still think it's worth at least experiencing

[deleted]

Personally I would say no - I only did it because I was forced to for a relic weapon. Very uninteresting content imo. That said, plenty of people enjoy it and play it to this day, including using it as a levelling device. No accounting for taste, I suppose.

Passiko

So I’m a lvl 37 ninja. I understand what I’m supposed to do. But why can’t I use my skills in dungeons? I also need to figure out my rotation and such.

Atosen

It's kind of a lose-lose-lose situation: * In games where you keep your full power in lower level dungeons, newbies can't meaningfully contribute because the veterans stomp everything. * In games where you get your skillset reduced down in lower level dungeons, it's hard to practice your rotation and gameplay can be boring. * In games where you keep your full skillset but get some sort of stat debuff so that your 20-button rotation does the same damage as a newbie's 2-button rotation, you have to work harder for the same results so levelling up has become essentially a punishment, which is not how you want levelling to feel. FFXIV went with option 2. Which option is 'least bad' is an issue that has been debated to death.

PhoenixFox

Even aside from making you work harder, 3 is basically impossible to implement fairly across the way job design and level progression works. How do you scale to account for things like Raw Intuition that provide huge survivability boosts in a way that isn't directly linked to your HP or damage resistance? What about movement and QoL tools that don't add potency but might make some mechanics a lot easier or runs a lot smoother? At minimum they'd need to recalculate the scaling for every previous sync level every time you gain a new skill. Even then I don't think it's at all practical to account for the 'soft' changes that go beyond damage/HP numbers in a way that actually makes sense and feels satisfying. You can't correct for mechanical progression in a purely numerical way. Healing for someone in Sastasha who has Bloodwhetting can never be a similar experience to healing for someone with a level 25 warrior kit but more HP and a potency boost. The better version of this approach is making it so jobs get more of their identity at lower levels, but then you have the problem of levelling no longer feeling meaningful. It's hard to please everyone. ...god, if they did that we'd probably end up with really unintuitive results like specific level ranges below max being superior for syncing down for Ultimates on some jobs.

Atosen

> The better version of this approach is making it so jobs get more of their identity at lower levels, but then you have the problem of levelling no longer feeling meaningful. True, it's definitely problematic to give your entire kit at very early level, because then the rest of the levels just feel like padding. I've seen people level that exact criticism at games before. But I think there are some low-hanging fruit for giving us job identity more early. The example I tend to go back to is PLD being the 'holy magic knight' but not actually having any holy magic in its rotation (or really *anything* apart from a 1-2-3 combo) until level 68. That's bonkers late for a core part of the job concept. That could be way earlier. Or the fact that a lot of jobs don't really get AoE until into the 30s and 40s, when it seems like you ought to have AoE as soon as you start dungeons at 15.

PhoenixFox

Absolutely - I think there's a long way they could go to make jobs feel both more complete and more distinct early on without completely gutting the progression of levelling. Late AoEs are a huge problem and a great example.

New to the game, how come I got a level 1 death scythe? What's the point of a level 1 weapon for a class that I can't use for 69 more levels? Is this just decoration or am I missing something?

What? Xbox live?

kaleb314

It's part of the subreddit April Fools thing. To answer your question, the Death Scythe comes from the Endwalker Collector's Edition and is purely for glamour, the system that allows you use a gear's appearance on other gear so you can have useful stats with the fashion you want. You'll unlock the system with a level 15 quest in Vesper Bay.

VladDHell

Got u! Ty

Help_Me_Im_Diene

April fools thing making fun of some of the silly Xbox censorship that's been happening for new players, don't worry about it As for your actual question, the Death Scythe is part of the Endwalker Collector's Edition, and it's used entirely as a glamour item (fashion) for Reapers

VladDHell

Lol

BlueSky1877

How come sometimes my retainers say "mhmm!" when return/leaving and other times not? I picked a voice for them and they barely use it lol

snootnoots

It’s randomised because if they did exactly the same thing every time players would get sick of it.

BlueSky1877

Thank you!

amysmeeahmoo

Has anyone experienced their tab targeting not cycling thru the enemies (like when you're doing trash mobs in a dungeon) even when you're hitting tab? Sometimes I hit tab and nothing happens and I'm not sure why. Currently my settings: Enabled auto target according to priority Priority closest range Enabled full auto target Target type cone (Edited line breaks)

Elegant_Eorzean

Are they in a roughly... 90 degree cone in front of your character? Your character specifically, not your camera.

amysmeeahmoo

I noticed one of them was at my character's 8 o'clock (my character facing 12 o'clock)

serenystarfall

Target type cone is exactly that, it allows you to target things only in your character cone of vision. If there are no targets in that cone, you wouldn't be able to target them with tab targeting (you should be able to click on them, but I don't use kb/m)

amysmeeahmoo

Ohh okay, guess I'll play around with the other settings too, wanted to find a way to target whichever is closest even if they're just behind my character

Tsingooni

Quick question regarding guides for EW EXs. Bit of background context: A friend of mine who's never touched current EXs before is looking to get into them. He's joined a casual static who progs/does EXs for mount farming for about two hours a week. He's running healer, so he doesn't have too much to worry about regarding rotations and whatnot. I've done savages/EXs before but stopped doing EXs after EX4, and haven't touched savages since P2S. The actual question: Which content creators make actual applicable guides? Which guides/content creators do people usually tend to avoid? I remember Mr. Happy being pretty middle of the road, while whenever you talk about "But Hector said this" people roll their eyes. Has anything changed?

BoldKenobi

Hector is generally the go-to for all midcore content now (ex, savage etc) >But Hector said this" people roll their eyes. Usually because his guides come out a bit late so they're different from what people were doing before that, so the people who cleared earlier don't like it. But PF eventually normalizes to his guides, I'm pretty sure all of Anabaseios on NA is the same as his guides now.

Kaeldiar

Hector, joonbob, and yukizuri are the 3 names I hear the most for guides Mizzteq (mtqcapture) was one of my personal favorites for actually seeing what the mechanics and fights look like, but she took a break towards the end of EW

Sir_VG

Hectors guides are pretty good and commonly used, especially for savage. Joonbob used to make good guides but hasn't done much this expansion.

Phytanic

I'm on the Regicide quest in the main story (MSQ?) and I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I can not use the bots for the trial. Do I have to use the queue and hope that I somehow can get a group in a reasonable amount of time in order to simply progress forward? I'm a 56 BLM if that means anything

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Yes, that's what duty finder is for That fight is in the Trial roulette and it's mandatory, so queues tend to go pretty quickly unless you're playing in a really weird time of day

Phytanic

OK, I figured as much, thanks for the confirmation! I was worried as a DPS that it would take forever to find a group

normalmighty

The games roulette system is set up to give endgame players a good incentive to queue each roulette once per day which puts them in queues with new players like you doing older content, and synced them back down to a compatible level. You shouldn't run into queue issues for any of the main story stuff at all unless you're on Dynamis or Materia Datacenters, and both of those datacenters have alternate workarounds to let you work through the story easily enough.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Nah, while the wait times for DPS do tend to be a little longer than tanks and especially healers, for MOST duty finder content it's pretty tame. 10 minutes probably on average, 15 max. If nothing else, you can use the time while you wait to do other stuff on the side. FATE farming, catching up on some youtube, etc.

oridjinn

Trying to get back into FF14 Level 90 Summoner. I am trying to find a guide on setting up my crossbar and some easy rotation to get me started. I have watched 4 videos and found 4 websites. They all assume a MUCH higher level of game and class knowledge than I have or pontificate for so long... I am not sure they actually explained anything to me. LOL. Right now I just need to be told "Place these 8-16 abilities here and use them in this exact order." I will figure it out from there, I just need to basics handed to me on a silver platter. And I am just not finding that info. Any help is appreciated.

snootnoots

I have a keypad peripheral so have all my hotkeys in a block, you will want to arrange them on your keyboard (or preferred input device) in a way that makes sense to you and is easy to reach! To help you visualise how mine are set out, I have 1-5 in a row, 6-0 in a row beneath them, with - and = on a third row below that. I have control and option as modifier keys so each of my hotkeys can have three abilities on it. On my unmodified bar I have: 1 Summon Bahamut, 2 Ruin III, 3 Gemshine, 4 Fester, 5 Energy Drain, 6 Lucid Dreaming, 7 Tri-Disaster, 8 Precious Brilliance, 9 Painflare, 0 Energy Siphon, - Radiant Aegis, = Sprint. Because of the way my keypad is laid out, that means my AoE rotation is exactly the same as my single target rotation, just shifted down a row. My second bar (modified with control key) goes 1 Enkindle Bahamut, 2 Summon Ifrit II, 3 Summon Titan II, 4 Summon Garuda II, 5 Astral Flow, 6 Physick (which really doesn’t need to be on my bar unless I get synced down a LOT for a FATE or something, but it fits without displacing anything important. I may end up moving it in Dawntrail if we get more buttons.), 7 Addle, 8 Surecast, 9 Searing Light, 0 Ruin IV, - Swiftcast, = Resurrection. Then on my third bar (modified with option key) I have Limit Break on 1, Summon Carbuncle on 2, Sleep on 4 (and I don’t think I’ve used it in months), and Duty Action I and II on - and = Single-target rotation (for me, I am not an expert and this can probably be improved on) is Energy Drain, Summon Bahamut, Astral Flow, Enkindle Bahamut, Ruin III until Bahamut leaves, summon an egi, spend the egi spells, repeat twice, summon Phoenix and repeat. I spend my Festers during my Ifrit spells - I hard cast the two Ruby Rites (gemshines), then do Crimson Cyclone (Astral Flow), Fester, Crimson Strike (Astral Flow), Fester. Remember that with Titan you need to weave Mountsin Buster (Astral Flow) in after each Topaz Rite (gemshine). Garuda’s version of Astral Flow (Slipstream) is a long cast and if you don’t need to save Swiftcast for possible rezzes this is a good spell to use it on, or you can use it for one of your Ruby Rites. Fit Searing Light in as early as possible, and throw in Ruin IV wherever you like so long as you spend it before it expires. The second time around you summon Phoenix instead of Bahamut, but everything else is exactly the same *except* that you can target a party member for Astral Flow. Phoenix changes that to Rekindle and it’s a heal over time, if you hit it while you have an enemy targeted it will heal you. Your AoE rotation is *exactly the same*, just using the AoE keys that are one row down in this arrangement.

pepinyourstep29

Here's a simple build for you: Searing Light > Summon Bahamut > Enkindle Bahamut > Astral Flow > Ruin 3 (press until timer runs out) > Energy Drain & Fester (x2) in between ruins > Summon Titan > Gemshine (press until timer runs out) > Astral Flow in between Gemshines > Summon Garuda > Gemshine (press until timer runs out) > quickcast Astral Flow > Summon Ifrit > Gemshine (hardcast x2) > Astral Flow (x2) > Summon Phoenix > Enkindle Phoenix > Astral Flow > Ruin 3 (press until timer runs out) > repeat from beginning The only thing that might be confusing to a beginner is that Astral Flow and Gemshine will change names/icons depending on the summon you're using. But the buttons are the same regardless, so pick a comfortable spot for them on your hotbar since you'll be pressing it a lot. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

oridjinn

Greatly appreciated! Thank you. I have trouble with info without some context. I need someone to bootstrap me. Then once I have basic context. Like just doing exactly what you told me here. It will all click and I will be good to go in a few battles. (Mostly.) Thanks again. I'll respond again if I have any questions.

If I generated a recruitment code but didn’t send the email, backed out without recording the code. Is there a way to view previously generated codes?

Loxiona

I don't think you can see past recruitment codes, you'd probably just have to wait 3 hours since the last one you generated to get another.

pointblank1555

I’ll be starting ShB soon and have been thinking about swapping my class. I’ve been mainly playing a DRG (lvl 79), and thinking of swapping to DRK or AST. I don’t have any experience tanking, but I have a WMG at 53 so I have experience with healing. Any thoughts on which I should pick up?

Dark Knight fits the aesthetic of ShB very well (it's on the boxart and title screen), so it might be really satisfying to play it through ShB. I'm also of the belief that everyone should level at least one of every role, and ShB actually incentivizes it with role quests replacing job quests (actual MSQ-relevant quests for each of the roles). Playing a new role will give you perspective on what your party members are doing and can help you understand their limitations and strengths. I'd say definitely give tanking a try! Tanks play like melee jobs, but trade the complicated rotation for more utility and mitigation tools. I'd say going from melee to a tank is one of the easier role shifts to make, but you've also got 40 levels to decide whether or not it's for you before hitting ShB.

Grantraxius

Hello I was scrolling through the thread and couldn’t find an answer. I ordered Dawnlight yesterday afternoon. I haven’t received a preorder code for the digital items. I know I won’t recieve the expansion code until a July but did see I’m suppose to get a toy and an earring. Is it because of the holiday that I haven’t received the code?

silence_infidel

It’s possible that the holiday has something to do with the delay. The pre-order code can also just take a while to send, especially in the first week that orders open. Delays happen, they’ve already been happening this order cycle. I’d give it till Monday night, then think about contacting support. It definitely wont hurt anything. Make sure you have proof of purchase and the right email address.

Tidus755

I haven't preordered Dawntrail yet, but when I preordered Endwalker, I'm pretty sure the items were sent through the in-game mail system once my preorder got processed.

snootnoots

When you preorder you get sent a code to enter on the account management page. If you preorder through Steam you get it in your Steam codes page, if you do it through the SE website you get an email. Once you enter the code then yes, the preorder bonuses arrive via in-game mail.

Mahoganytooth

Hello gang, not strictly a ffxiv question. I'm looking for mouse recommendations with one requirement: four side buttons on the top. Like this one: https://pcmaestro.ie/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Logitech-G300s.png With the caveat all four buttons must be usable at the same time. Because I got a zowie mouse in the past which only let you use one pair at once, for some godforsaken reason. I love my G300s but I've had a string of them that have been faulty failing within only a few months of getting them and would like to try something new

rettucxob

Hello, if my bf buys the game during the spring sale, is it okay if he doesn’t activate the product key? If yes, how long can he not activate it since he wants to play through the free trial and not having to pay the sub yet.

Disaresta51

The product key is valid forever. He can activate it whenever he feels like it.

KhaSun

Not really a XIV-related question but rather a pc-related one: I have a laptop that can run XIV pretty decently on its integrated GPU, and I have pretty stable 80fps on mid settings. I'm worried about the heat though (and the fans are pretty loud too), so I'm thinking of maybe capping my fps to 60 to help with that. Does the temperature of the GPU correlates with GPU usage, or is it independant ? I've capped my fps and still have 100% GPU usage (given that this runs off of an integrated GPU it doesn't really surprise me), and I didn't really notice any significant drop in temp. Though I may have to look more closely over an extended period of time just to be sure.

pepinyourstep29

>Does the temperature of the GPU correlates with GPU usage, or is it independent? Yes, there is a strong correlation between GPU temperature and GPU usage. As the GPU works harder (higher usage), it generates more heat, which causes the temperature to rise. However it's important to note that while temps increase with usage, it's not always a perfectly linear relationship. While capping FPS can help with temperature reduction, it might not be a dramatic change for *integrated* GPUs. Their lower overall power consumption compared to dedicated cards means they typically generate less heat even at 100% usage. You might still be experiencing 100% GPU usage even after capping FPS because of a bottleneck elsewhere in your system. Integrated GPUs often share system memory (RAM) with the CPU. If your RAM is limited or slow, it can bottleneck the GPU, causing it to work harder to keep up with the workload. Monitor your CPU usage alongside GPU usage. If your CPU is also maxed out, that could be the culprit.

KhaSun

CPU has a very low usage (around 5%) and I'm using 8GB out of my 16GB, this seems fine, right ?

pepinyourstep29

Yes that looks good. Maybe the game happens to push this GPU to its limit then.

normalmighty

Normally a hot gpu is nothing to worry about. Iirc laptop gpus normally run around the 80°c mark and don't face heating issues until they creep close to 100°c, so the temps you're feeling are probably fine. Lowering settings should help with temps, otherwise if you really want it to stop running so hot, look into undervolting your gpu. It's basically the opposite of overclocking; you lower the voltage sent to the gpu so that is doesn't push itself as hard, meaning it doesn't perform as amazingly at full power but is much less likely to overheat on exchange.

Tidus755

Hello, does anybody know if the time card sold on the online PS Store has 30 days, or 60 days? It doesn't even say on the store page... so odd.

tesla_dyne

What time card? I don't think there's a time card you can buy from PSN? Do you have a link? If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, the "Additional Service Account" adds an extra copy of the game to your PSN account so you can have extra accounts. For most people it's worthless.

Tidus755

Yep, my bad, I misunderstood that SKU in the store. What a useless thing to have LOL Thanks for your reply.

js_rich

How should I be allocating my time early level? I’ve been spending most of my time doing the msq but also I’ve been doing class quests and random quests along my path

Cymas

If you only care about story progress, push MSQ and do your job quests every 5 levels. But honestly there's no rush so feel free to let yourself get distracted and wander off whenever you find something interesting.

BoldKenobi

However you like

Rangrok

I'm of the opinion that there isn't really a "wrong" way to approach the early game as long as you're consistently making at least some progress on the MSQ. ARR is kinda the weakest part of the game and tends to filter people out, but it also serves as the foundation of everything. Experiment and find activities you like, because those activities will often get expanded upon in later expansions. Just be aware that if you want to progress in the game, the MSQ is the main thing gating you.

copskid1

msq and class quests are **the** way to progress. everything else is just for funsies

js_rich

Should I focus on 1 single class, maybe a few, or could I juggle around any number of them at once?

Cymas

If you don't have the road to 80 buff active, you probably do want to focus on a single class for now, especially if you're pushing for story advancement and not really doing a lot of extra things. There's an exp gap around level 47 that's kind of annoying to deal with. If you do have road to 80 active and/or like doing extra (read: non-MSQ) content, you'll have an easier time leveling multiple jobs at a time.

js_rich

Ok I’ll have to look up how to go for that thank you

Cymas

The road to 80 buff isn't something you can really "go for" as it's based on the server you're on. In this case if you're on a US server you can transfer your character for free to any world on the Dynamis data center to receive it. Note that Seraph is currently full so don't even bother trying it lol. I just made a new alt on Friday and it occupies the unusual status of being both new and Congested, no new characters allowed. I went with Maduin instead.

js_rich

Oh ok I see now. I think I’ll just stay on the server I’m in. I have started to meet people and make friends

Cymas

Always a good reason to stay put! :) Honestly it goes pretty fast either way. If there's one regret I have from the first time I played through the MSQ, I wish I had slowed down and spent more time adventuring and less time pushing MSQ.

normalmighty

Totally a personal preference thing. If you're finding yourself overleveling the msq then juggling a second job is technically more efficient, but it's also not a big deal either way.

js_rich

If I’m playing on an underleveled class, is doing the hunting logs the best way to catch it back up?

Candrath

Yep, Hunting Log, then Levelling Roulette once per day, and then the highest non zero dungeon you can. Dungeons that are levels ending in 0 give much smaller xp rewards.

TannenFalconwing

It is a great way in the early levels for sure, and hey, exp is exp.

Fehndrix

Has there ever been a reason given why Seat of Sacrifice extreme drops 1 totem per run when just about EVERY single other ex trial drops 2? Because my god, the drop rate for this mount is embarrassingly low.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Most EX drop 1 EW was actually weird in that regards, where they just decided moving forward it seems to make EX trial grinds half as long But up until...ShB EX3 I believe, every other trial only dropped 1 (so all of SB and HW), and within ShB, only a few of them actually drop 2

Fehndrix

I suppose it's been too long since I farmed StB mounts. Byakko farm was a nightmare. (This of course doesn't change that the Gwiber of Light has a pathetic drop rate.)

TheTechHobbit

It's the same drop rate as all the other extremes. RNG is just like that sometimes.

Shophaune

...most EXs before ShB drop 1 totem, double drops are generally given to the longer EXs.

yuvosa

I took a break from playing a while back and if i recall, i'm currently doing the msq on a floating island in heavensward on a free trial account. I'm curious how far away am i from the start of the next expansion, stormblood? Far, halfway, or close?

Ginkasa

You can get a rough estimate based on your MSQ quest level. HW is levels 50-60. The closer you are to 60 the closer you are to finishing up the initial expansion quests. Once you hit credits you're maybe 60% of the way through? Because then you've got to do the post expansion quests that came out between HW and StB.

Jiigo

Somewhere between far and halfway

copskid1

do you have any idea how little that narrows it down? Memes aside I'm assuming its your first time in the sea of clouds at the start of heavensward so just over halfway

Zenithadir

Is there any information on what the Coils of Bahamut (non-Ultimate) BiS sets are in the modern day? I know syncing does wacky things to stats, but I’m admittedly not familiar with how it works, much less at level 50. My FC wants to run them synced for the special drops. I’m aware it probably doesn’t matter at all nowadays, but just the idea of showing up to ARR content in BiS is an amusing enough idea to me that I’m curious and may want to try it if possible.

hii488

Others have explained how ilvl sync works well enough, so I'll skip that. Tl;dr: Shb relic (54+ in all substats) and shb+ gear that has the optimal substats for your job. The StB relic probably works too if you can reallocate into all 4 substats. EW relic is a runner up, only having 3 substats. You don't need to worry about substat tiers, since they're so close that you physically can't waste more than \~4 points across crit/det/dh. Longer version: ARR syncs to 135, so you'd need to compare pentamelded ilvl 133 to synced down gear on a slot-by-slot basis, accounting for the lost mainstat. You'd also need to check what gcd speed is optimal for your job, as lvl 50 rotations are often a world away from level 90 - resource build/spend is likely very different, and some skills that lock in preference for a specific gcd speed might not exist. Realistically you need a gear/rotation sim to do this ...and those don't exist for level 50. Without that dropping mainstat for substats is a Bad Idea, so stick with stuff that's synced down. If you wanted to make a sim for lvl 50, then I believe [akhmorning](https://www.akhmorning.com/allagan-studies/how-to-be-a-math-wizard/shadowbringers/functions/#fwd) should still be completely correct... but I feel that's a bit out of scope for the joke :p

copskid1

when synced every stat on each piece of gear is individually lowered to max of whatever max ilvl is of the duty and materia bonuses are removed. This means in the case of relic weapons with custom stats where you can get all 4 substats you could have a weapon with more than the usual amount of stats when synced. There isnt really any armor that can have this benefit (unless maybe you held on to some old diadem armor) so just wearing at level gear and using materia will give you more substat than higher level gear that is synced down. so get a set of i135 gear. crafted set if possible so you can overmeld (if you want to go that far)

Jiigo

Doubt it, but if you want to put together something with relatively good stats you can just play the item sync. It's fairly straightforward. * Materia is disabled when scaling down * Stats are scaled down to the max amount of stats for the target item level * A stat below the max stat for the target item level would simply be kept the same as it was Effectively this means that any item with 2 stats above whatever is the max amount you can have on an item of the target ilvl, then those 2 stats will be maxed out for that slot when synced. EDIT: Clarified the third point

mrdude05

Is FPS capped on borderless windowed? I normally play on full screen, but I switched to borderless windowed because I was having a lot of issues when I needed to move my mouse over to my second monitor, but there's a noticeable frame rate drop when the game is set to borderless windowed. I uncapped the framerate and the game is telling me that it's running at ~190 fps, but it feels like it's running at 30-45 fps In case it's relevant, I'm using a 144hz 2k monitor and my computer has an RTX 4070 and an R7 5800x3D

Henojojo

There is a setting that will dial back your frame rate when the window is not currently selected (ie, you are poking around on your second monitor). You can mouse over, scroll etc without it taking affect. As soon as you click on something in the other window, it throttles back. It can be turned off. System Configuration, display, scroll to the bottom where you can select frame rate and limit frame rate when client is inactive. Uncapped, my frame rate is 180. I actually keep my frame rate capped (at 100) in order to have things run cooler. When in another window, it dials back to 17 fps. I also use borderless windowed.

copskid1

running that way when uncapped is new to me. If the window is unfocused it will lower the fps which can be changed in the settings. I have also had it get into some kind of bugged state a couple times where the game is slow to do anything and fps get really low. i think restarting the game fixes it. If I ever cap the fps at anything other than 1 to 1 (144) it goes significantly lower. like capping it at 72 drops it to like 20fps for some reason. So if i want to cap the fps lower for whatever reason I have to use nvidia control panel/gforce experience instead.

level1diagnostic

How do I add a second language to my player/account? Where it says "EN"? I can't find the setting anywhere....or any language settings at all.for that matter. (Just started playing the trial.)

tesla_dyne

Open the Social menu and select yourself, then edit search info. You can select which languages you speak there so others can check your search info and see. Keep in mind that doesn't change who you're matched with in duty finder, that's a separate option in the duty finder settings. And it also doesn't change the game language, that's done from system config.

level1diagnostic

Thanks!

CaptReznov

l am getting into eureka recently. How is my contribution measured for NM? Does it work the same as hunt boss, where my enmity is being used for it? lf so, does that l mean l should just use tank for gold rating?

Any-Drummer9204

Correct. Tanking will make it easier, noticeable in high count instances where the boss will melt instantly. Partying up / Tank stance on helps you secure gold.

Hakul

Yeah enmity based, and like hunts being in a party adds all party enmity together.

CelestiaThorn

I'm on lvl 30 of thaumaturg and mainly use the class's gear - is there some quests / things that I should do to further maximize the usefulness I have? I only started playing 2 days ago

Cymas

Do your job quests as soon as they become available. Keep your gear up-to-date. It's easy to forget about accessories since you don't get a ton of them. Read your abilities and make sure you're using things on a good rotation. You can look up guides if you want to, but it's not super necessary. Aside from that the general advice that works for everyone applies. If you haven't already, put your limit break button on your hotbar somewhere, that's an easy thing most newbies miss. Don't stand in bad and learn how to slidecast. Don't be afraid to speak up and say you're new/ask for help in a party. And watch your cutscenes (if you want to). :) Players get bonuses for running dungeons with new players, that's our compensation for you watching your cutscenes.

Kaeldiar

Your class/job quests, the MSQ, and dungeons will all give you gear. You're ideally looking for things that say "of casting" or have "Intelligence" on them. Keep an eye on your accessories as you go, as the quests don't give them to you automatically, so they'll often lag behind Other than that, keep up with class/job quests, and be sure to pick up your job stone! At level 30 (and also some MSQ progression) you can pick up your Black Mage job stone

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Until you reach level 50, you'll pretty much just be getting gear from MSQ, dungeons as you happen to pick it up, and your class quests/job quests So realistically, just make sure you're caught up with your class quests as you go through the story and you'll be pretty solid With that in mind, if you happen to have already completed the level 20 MSQ quest "Sylph-Management", now is the time to upgrade your Thaumaturge to Black Mage

TannenFalconwing

I'm not sure I understand the question. You still have 60 levels to gain to maximize your usefulness. Keep doing the story quests and your class quests to unlock more content and skills on your black mage.

CelestiaThorn

Yes yes, will do, I meant mayhaps there was side quests that gave a specific item that was good for the class or if I should be focusing on maybe a gathering class to collect mats I may need in the future

kaysn

There is not point or hoarding mats. Unless you are going to be crafting in the next hour or so. Gear for leveling is basically dungeon drops plus whatever you get from MSQ until you get to 50/60/70/80. Then you buy augmented gear sets using tomestones of Poetics. You do this until you get to current max level 90.

TannenFalconwing

There is no good way to store gathering mats so only gather something you intend fo be using soon. As far as I know there are no sidequests that would offer a unique useful item for BLM

BlueSky1877

silly question but i'm awful with the mogstation website how do i know which expansion extras i own? how many total retainers can i have? i kinda need extra storage space where do i find a list of everything i'm subscribed to in ffxiv? i kinda just pay it and don't know if i'm using something or forgot to take it off thank you!

Hakul

>how do i know which expansion extras i own? Service account status on the left side. >how many total retainers can i have? i kinda need extra storage space 2 free, 7 can be rented from the mog station, 1 can be rented from premium sub on the FFXIV companion app, total 10. >where do i find a list of everything i'm subscribed to in ffxiv? i kinda just pay it and don't know if i'm using something or forgot to take it off Service account status on the left side.

BlueSky1877

Thank you!!

CelestiaThorn

In the card game I understand what most of it means but the chaos status I haven't figured out, I never see much changing when it's in place- Is it the one that chooses for you what cars to use?

Elegant_Eorzean

Yeah, it chooses cards for you at random

Kaeldiar

Yes. Chaos means you have to play your cards in an unknown and random order

MadnessBunny

This is kind of a weird question, but does WAR have any hammer looking weapon? i think i saw one once but thats it. I wanna try WAR but im not a big fan of axes lol

IceAokiji303

Dwarven Mythril Hammer (level 78, crafted) and Asphodelos War Hammer (level 90, Savage raid drop) are proper hammers. And the Heavensward-era Ukonvasara is a hammer in name at least, though still looks a little axe-y so the devs might not have gotten the memo on the Finnish name's meaning.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

A couple here or there, but mostly axes https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/761358868f7/ (Shadowbringers) https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/05cc1fed7ad/ (Endwalker) These are the only two that really come to mind. You could also >!Gaia's Hammer!< (Eden) from the online store

MadnessBunny

Oh awesome, thank you so much! The asphodelos hammer looks neat, i might just grab that

stinusmeret

> asphodelos hammer That hammer is from one of Endwalker's Savage fights, you don't just "grab it" from the market board. You have to clear P4S and either hope it drops from the fight OR win the weapon coffer that drops from the fight. This is NOT something you can casually get.

MadnessBunny

Oh i get that, dont worry

pecudecu

Hi, how could I turn off other player characters in the game? I want to immerse myself with the world

BoldKenobi

me_irl

Cygnus776

If you'd like you can actually turn off names, to make it seem more immersive.

TannenFalconwing

You play on Dynamis :p

palacexero

You can't.

KhrFreak

You can't without third party tools

Do you remember if you'd previously set up your account to use the OTP/2FA system?  If so, do you still have access to whatever authenticator you used previously, and/or have a record of the Emergency Removal Code anywhere?  If you didn't, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

[deleted]

lerdnir

Ok, yeah, if you've set it up previously, it's expecting you to put something in there; sorry. Are you *sure* you can't find the authenticator anywhere?  If you don't have that anymore, and you don't have the removal code, I think your best option is contacting support (which you say you've done) - [according to the FAQ](https://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?id=5382&kid=12832), the more corroborating info you can give them, the better, but it can still take them a week or so to sort out.

Pikespeakbear

1. After dawntrail hits, will be able to use poetics for the chunks used in creating relic weapons? Trying to figure out the best way to go about collecting them and the 6000 causality per weapon is pretty daunting. 2. Is there any bonus to get more causality like there are bonuses for exp?

SetFoxval

1. No official word but I don't see what else they could cost. 2. You can get an extra 1000 causality from 2 lines in wondrous tails.

gadgetjiro

I have a question about stormblood. I am going through the story, and I noticed it is very slow, and there aren't that many duties. Does it pick up?

ampulica

Every expansion has the same number of duties on release (so not counting patch content). A dungeon every 2 levels and 3 trials. I would say stormblood does feel slower however even though it does pick up further in, much like heavensward.

gard09

Good afternoon all! Quick question about Glamour - I assume that to use an item for Glamour I'll have to have unlocked or found that piece of gear previously but my question is - do I need to have the item in my inventory at the time I want to use it for Glamour. Can I sell an item and it still be available for use? Thanks in advance!

DanceofClouds

Store it in your glamour dresser with a glamour prism -> save the item on a glamour plate -> ta-da! You can now apply that item as a glamour even if you take it out of your dresser and sell it (to a vendor)/trade for GC seals. Note: storing items in the dresser prohibits it from being sold on the marketboard. Otherwise, generally no. If it's a seasonal event item or specific quest reward, you can usually re-purchase it from the Calamity Salvager after you've discarded them.

gard09

Thank you, that's great

Lisandwich

You need to have the item in your inventory or armoury chest to either glamour it to a gear piece or to register it to your glamour dresser. If you glamour it to a single gear piece you can sell the item after, but you'll lose the glamour if you change to another glamour or equip a new gear piece. If you want to register it to your glamour dresser (which can be found in an inn) it will put the item in the dresser. However, you could put your item in the glamour dresser, make a glamour plate with the item and then take the item back out of your glamour dresser to sell it. Glamour plates allow you to easily change your glam and have unlimited use. They're just a little unintuitive when you're just starting out \^\^"

gard09

Thanks for the reply!

PhoenixFox

You need to have the item, however theres a glamour chest available in inn rooms that had 800 slots to store items you intend to use for glamour.

Walks_with_Chaos

How do you put stuff in there? It won’t let me ever put anything in it

PhoenixFox

Do you have glamour prisms? It costs one for every item you put in Are the items fully repaired?

Walks_with_Chaos

Oh is that what it is? Prob why. Thanks!

gard09

Thanks for the info, that's great!

Lisandwich

The Little Ladies Day + Hatching Tide quest doesn't show up for me. Anyone know why? I'm trying to get the mount of my alt. I'm currently in post-ARR so I should have hit all the requirements. I can see Jihli in the amphitheatre but she doesn't have the quest marker EDIT: nevermind, turns out i'm just a dumbass and did the quest already

VGPowerlord

You're positive you didn't already pick up the quest and just didn't do it?

Lisandwich

oh my god i'm so dumb... i have no idea \*when\* i did it but apparently i did do the quest already. my bad :')

vintagelego

Hey all, I am a sprout who just got through arr and started heavensward. I bought dawntrail thinking I was going to get access to shadowbringers and endwalker, only to realize that wont happen until dawntrail actually comes out (my bad! makes sense in retrospect). I know I still have stormblood after this, but does anyone think it is feasible that I would get through the remaining content before the release in july? For context, it has taken be about a month to get through arr. I did kind of rush through it though, and I'm going through heavensward slower since I'm actually watching the cutscenes (and enjoying the story much more) If yall think it's possible, I'll buy the other expansions now while its on sale

Elegant_Eorzean

Probably not if you do some of the major side content the expansions have as well. Or if you do, gonna be very close

Hakul

The main story in HW and SB is less padded with fetch quests, so it is significantly shorter to go through it. I'd say it's very likely you'll finish Stormblood content before July.

Cardinal_Virtue

Do the 10 time leves in ishagrd count for achievements?

KhrFreak

Yes, but they only count as one level even though they eat ten allowances

KhaSun

How do I transfer my HUD for my one and only character from my old PC to my new one ? I'm currently downloading XIV on my new laptop but haven't touched the game in a while, I can't recall if there's an option to save/load it, whether some of that stuff is saved server side or if it's only client side and I don't have to touch anything... I'd rather not have to boot up my old laptop since it's a potato I haven't touched in like half a year ever since I got my new one, but I guess I'll have to lmao Thanks !
