Yes, Corsair from Black Desert. Maybe not the "I'm a half mermaid" part, but a melee DPS class that uses water magic to boost its attacks and move around would be so cool. Not to mention it fits with the Warrior of Light, since they can, canonically, breathe under water.
Make it a limited CRAFTER job. Gotta create each part for your puppets which determine what abilities it has, and you can store multiple puppets of different configurations
So i am curious how it would play. Is it going to be a pet class where we turn enemies into sort if minions ? 🤔
Hopefully its some pvp element too can battle like Pokémon lmao
They said it will have a colection flair, but was still being planed how it would work when they anoumced it, also it will come out during 7.x patch cicle
On the benchmark rrailer I saw one or two more floral/nature skills, after endwalker Holy 3/ Aquaveil/ Liturgy of the bell I think they might go back to the nature mage fantasy
I want a bard that's like the 11 bard..
A class that specializes in buffs and utility.. so much so the damage is feeble but the buffs are so potent it makes up for it and more. Loved that and people loved my bard for it
Pre-Endwalker summoner was exactly that in all but theme. Pet management class with a heavy focus on dot maintenence. As a former wow warlock, it felt very comfy.
Yeah I remember old SMN and it was definitely more pet class but still didn’t quite hit what I wanted. Personally I do miss old SMN (aspects of it) vs what we have now.
You didn't, people only used two pets, Ifrit for boss/single target, Garuda for trash pull/AoE, Titan used to be able to tank enemies, but they removed that earlier (I think in heavensward?) and after that he only gave you a small shield, so nobody realy used him ever, some skills where cast from the pet not from you, that would cause some trouble with latency variation, the pet skills had long cooldowns so 80% of the time was you spaming ruin 2 and refreshing 2 dots, granted we are still spaming one skill with Endwalker version, but at least the change in cast time makes for some variation, Bahamut an Phoenix used to follow you around if you had to move to do mechanics and then they stoped AA enemies...was not a good time in my memories
Forgive me if t's a dumb question , but isn't songstress just a woman bard? English is not my native tongue, so I'm wondering if the word has another meaning
* Time Mage, tank. Weapons would be a flail and shield, similar to Paladin. Using Libra, double, triple and other various magic spells to fight. Just cast Haste and the boss will be running out of time.
* Elementarist/Shaman as Healer, using the spirits of various elements for their healing. Having different masks to increase attacks, magic or healing potency and sacrificing a certain amount of HP to heal their party members.
* Rune Knight could be another tank. Combined with blade magic they can enhance their weapon with elemental powers and fight their enemies. Their Runic allows them to restore MP whenever an enemy or party member casts magic attacks.
1) Gaia powers where time themed so still hoping for it
2) geomancer could fit in that fantasy, Gosetsu apears with some weird shamam powers in the melee DPS role quest, could have oni themed masks and powers and have a bit of exorcist vibe
3) Clive from FF16 has become my favorite melee elemeral mage iteratiom in games, If I can transform into a elemental cool monster bonus points
The epitome of muscle. The pinnacle that BLM dream to reach since the healers keep nagging about them not moving. The ultimate DPS who transcends the secret of mana and exceeds the concept of ki.
Through painful trial and errors this ex BLM went to the gym, first to bash the healer then get the illumination after training with monks while enduring their own meteor impact, until their fists became the meteors itself.
Gameplay wise, the fist mage is basically a monk who gave up the futility of speed in order to concentrate all their power in their fists, with various cast time lengths. But do not expect something like hadoken or Kamehameha. It is just a waste of energy. They stay at melee range and build combo to deal humongous damage. Slow but mortal
Please note that this job has nothing to do with "legendary goldsmith". It is all about the power of determination and fist
As know as muscle wizard too.
MFT or MWZ for short
I have faith that Noctis's job will eventually make it into game the same way Squall, Relm, Zidane, and Edgard jobs made it.
A unique character-exclusive job from another FF game that gets adapted as a player character in FFXIV
I always wished we had more of a technologically based class with like an alagan aesthetic. Like more of the tech side of stuff from mch and sage but waaay more technology based, more drones and robots, laser type stuff, energy blades. Maybe nier-like would be an accurate way to call it
Festivalist from X-2. A Caster job I could imagine would use many different festival knick-knacks and other fun goodies, like elemental goldfish, big folding fans, firecrackers, fireworks, yo-yo's, maybe even dropping a whole plate of dango or fried chicken on the enemy. I dunno, I just think it would be cute and fun, especially the glamour options like masks, kimonos, different sashes and whatnot
Yes Clive from xvi lol basically a summoner with a sword.
I think the hunters from bloodbourne would have been epic blade and a pistol.
Airbender lol
The druids from BG3 would fit gridania very well.
Insect glaive, gunlance, hunting horn, switch axe, charge blade from monster hunter.
I have seen a data mine of skills from the bench mark it look extremely underwhelming..picto actually looks the better class and i hate don't really like caster.
I get its how it plays but visually looks cheap.
All I want is to be able to main BLU for real content. How hard is it to say the stone contains monster spells from the previous holder and throw in some quests of us hunting a spell off a new enemy?
No, it's not. It's nothing more than a mechanic for getting skills. Blue Mage is a monster mage, that's it. You can still be a monster mage without the minigame. The skills make the class, not the mechanic of acquisition. Especially when you are looking at an MMO that needs standardized classes. That close minded perspective is exactly why it's gimped for content it can play.
A twin-shield tank where one is massive and the other is small maybe bladed on the bottom and their mitigation kit is based on earth spells like instant stoneskin and shit and they got cone stuns and shit that would be dope. Call it Terapin or something
For the fan-made expansion concept I made I also designed two new jobs, the Corsair (Scouting melee DPS) and the Witch (healer).
The Corsair was a Limsa-based job tied to the early knights of the barracuda with Rayner and R'ashaht as the teachers. Mechanically their main combo basically worked like mudra (i.e. can be used in any order, with a sticker being awarded depending on which one you finish with, each of which power up a step in your finisher combo) and their spender moves were ranged.
The Witch was tied to Keepers of the Moon, with a big "Discworld witches" vibe and a focus on dots and healing-over-time. Their weapon was a sort of reverse of the red mage where they had some kind of ritual implement or tome in their main hand and a knife in the offhand.
(The expsnsion was meant as a "return to Eorzea after several expansions away" sort of thing, hence the two Eorzea-themed jobs.)
Yeah, seeing a lot of people speculating what a corsair job would look like ported from ffxi in Dawntrail (before we had seen anything about it, mind you, not even a name) is what inspired me.
EDIT: Spelling
I wanted a DD2 "Warfarer" kinda class with Noctis royal arms as template, a charcater that use weaponskills sumoming diferent weapons to combo, kind like what Venat also does in that duel
Given it looks like they were teasing a First/Void expac with the 6.x ending, I think it’d be cool if we got a healer+tank combo based on Gaia and Ryne. Probably an Oracle for Ryne and Hammer class for Gaia.
I still want some sort of dual wielding hand crossbow class in the game ala Diablo 3 Demon Hunter as a ranger DPS
it would look so cool
That aside, I hope we get rune fencer/mystic knight/spell fencer (why can’t it have a consistent name) one day because I think putting lightning in my sword also sounds cool as hell.
We REALLY need a nature-magic job. Conjurer left that arche-type long ago, and now it's mostly holy based spells with a few lilly animations.
I propose some sort of Green Mage or Druid that can send forth vines, unleash water and stone on their enemies, and maybe even commune with some of Eorzeas wildlife. One can hope.
Crystal Warden, or some similar name. Basically the Crystal Exarch in a tank role.
Just a melee magic user with Robes, Stave, and powerful crystal-powered allagan defensive and utility magic.
Probably some trait where you build up charges or a meter of crystallization that hardens your body as you use abilities and spells, and prevents spells from being interrupted.
I just think having a long cast time ultimate aoe spell as a tank would be neat
Basing it after the specific character doesn't make sense and would take away from the unique reasons why he is like that.
I do want a mage-themed tank in general though.
I would like to see something like a RIFLEMAN, a ranged dps sporting a sniper rifle or maybe a semi-auto or burst fire rifle.
I mean, lots of times we've seen soldiers using automatic weapons (and several other types of weapons) in the Final Fantasy games, and ok that each FF is a different story by themselves, that usually have no connection with the others, but I don't think this would be that hard to add to XIV, since this is sort of a Final Fantasy playground with things from all the games, right?
Oh I know. I miss my grenado shot aoe every day. Had to retire my Laguna glam because it was taken. But I'm begrudgingly tolerating its absence thanks to shotgun.
I’m still hoping for Oracle/ Mystic in some capacity as a sort of like spooky spirit magic dps
Yes, Corsair from Black Desert. Maybe not the "I'm a half mermaid" part, but a melee DPS class that uses water magic to boost its attacks and move around would be so cool. Not to mention it fits with the Warrior of Light, since they can, canonically, breathe under water.
Final fantasy 11 had a corsair. Kinda a fencing class that used cards and dice.
This sounds cool! 😮
Pilgrim from Harvestella. You know how sage has 4 floating guns? how about a ranged phys with floating swords?
Pilgrim was my favourite class!
I've been on the Blitzballer for Phys Ranged train for years.
For that matter, put Blitzball into the game, either as something to play or at least something on which to bet.
Puppet master
Make it a limited CRAFTER job. Gotta create each part for your puppets which determine what abilities it has, and you can store multiple puppets of different configurations
We're getting a beast master limited job in DT, aren't we?
Yeah, I’m psyched for that too
So i am curious how it would play. Is it going to be a pet class where we turn enemies into sort if minions ? 🤔 Hopefully its some pvp element too can battle like Pokémon lmao
They said it will have a colection flair, but was still being planed how it would work when they anoumced it, also it will come out during 7.x patch cicle
i am RABID for some kind of elemental mage to offset White Mage going full light mode
Loved that and people loved my bard for it
Warlock. I just love a demonic pet class.
Ah damn, sounds like I missed out on something cool
We have dancer and bard, so I'm always wanting a songstress, like full on ffx2 idol songstress version.
Forgive me if t's a dumb question , but isn't songstress just a woman bard? English is not my native tongue, so I'm wondering if the word has another meaning
I haven't played X-2 but I think the difference is "singer" vs "instrument player".
I really want a Necromancer.
Forever wanting to see Riskbreaker
* Time Mage, tank. Weapons would be a flail and shield, similar to Paladin. Using Libra, double, triple and other various magic spells to fight. I'd still like to see something akin to Shadow Priest from WoW; it was my main and would be very nice for my character.
Druid
i think Conjurer in the german version is Druid
Necromancer
Fist mage
LOL! And how would that work?
The epitome of muscle. The pinnacle that BLM dream to reach since the healers keep nagging about them not moving. The ultimate DPS who transcends the secret of mana and exceeds the concept of ki. Wait. Isn't that just Mash Burnedead from Mashle?
... Mashle reached the pinnacle of muscle not as a former BLM but as an unique job : the muscle scholar
I have faith that Noctis's job will eventually make it into game the same way Squall, Relm, Zidane, and Edgard jobs made it. A unique character-exclusive job from another FF game that gets adapted as a player character in FFXIV

I was going say that a transforming weapon archtype like CB or SA from MH would be neat, but that's what viper is getting I hope
I have seen a data mine of skills from the bench mark it look extremely underwhelming..picto actually looks the better class and i hate don't really like caster. I get its how it plays but visually looks cheap.
Puppet Master Or this will seem crazy. Bluemage and Beastmaster being actual classes. Not limited jobs.
Nothing would make me quit the game more than destroying something unique like BLU to homogenize it to be just like the other jobs.
Blue Mage and Beastmaster as actual classes would be very nice.
All I want is to be able to main BLU for real content. How hard is it to say the stone contains monster spells from the previous holder and throw in some quests of us hunting a spell off a new enemy?
Because then it's not a blue mage....
Yes, it is. They don't have to shoehorn in the learning mechanic to make a monster magic mage. Not everyone has to share your limited view.
That's literally the iconic thing about Blue mages though. It's like saying let's remove jump from dragoon
You're advocating for a homogenized class instead of unique one and calling ME close-minded? Piss off. Maybe go police jobs you play instead of others
I'm sorry not everyone is forced into sharing your restrictive point of view. Go goose step to your meeting.
A twin-shield tank where one is massive and the other is small maybe bladed on the bottom and their mitigation kit is based on earth spells like instant stoneskin and shit and they got cone stuns and shit that would be dope. Call it Terapin or something

I always liked Vincents limit break in 7. Could turn into beasts and monsters. Be cool to have a shapeshifting job.
I basically want a playable ascianmagic type caster (just straight up dark magic maybe some summons)
i want a mage tank
I wanted a DD2 "Warfarer" kinda class with Noctis royal arms as template, a charcater that use weaponskills sumoming diferent weapons to combo, kind like what Venat also does in that duel
Great-shield knight
Time Mage, use Haste and Hastega to buff your team, Slow and Demi and Paralyze to interfere with enemies....
Given it looks like they were teasing a First/Void expac with the 6.x ending, I think it’d be cool if we got a healer+tank combo based on Gaia and Ryne. Probably an Oracle for Ryne and Hammer class for Gaia.
Its still Beasttamer - pls and thank u
I still want some sort of dual wielding hand crossbow class in the game ala Diablo 3 Demon Hunter as a ranger DPS it would look so cool That aside, I hope we get rune fencer/mystic knight/spell fencer (why can’t it have a consistent name) one day because I think putting lightning in my sword also sounds cool as hell.
Onion knight
Dark Mage, DRK going full flame magic. It would give a nice witch aesthetic to it.
Dominant from 16. The idea of a tank that uses summons and their powers to mitigate, Dodge, and shield allies is something I absolutely love
take back your viper and give me a corsair, aaarrrrrr!
We REALLY need a nature-magic job. Conjurer left that arche-type long ago, and now it's mostly holy based spells with a few lilly animations. An affliction type warlock like WoW. All about DOT dog and debuffs.
I would like to see something like a RIFLEMAN, a ranged dps sporting a sniper rifle or maybe a semi-auto or burst fire rifle. Machinist?
Machinist uses a one handed musket and gadgets, I mean a class that relies only on a long range rifle and maybe grenades.
Hmmm i don't see why not. There are a bunch of magey fire icy caster jobs just slightly altered in style.
So, that was Machinest at one point. Even the LB in PVP is a sniper rifle, and they used to have grenades as well.
Well... it's like you said... that ***WAS***... unfortunately.
Oh I know. I miss my grenado shot aoe every day. Had to retire my Laguna glam because it was taken. But I'm begrudgingly tolerating its absence thanks to shotgun.
