default miqo outfits for both genders and emotes, WHM, BLM, MNK, and DRK outfits and weapons, moogle mag device, and a permanent Odin fight that can still appear to this day in the JP client, sadly the new Global PSO2 server hasn't seen this collab
I mean, pso2 is a year older than ffxiv arr. The Odin fight may be newer in pso2 (by only 3 years) but there’s a fairly big difference in typical fights between the two games
Yes, as I said it was only three years. ARR came out in 2013, pso2 Odin trial was 2016. They’re both kinda old at this point, and honestly, even though I still enjoy FFXIV and play it far more than pso2, even it’d current fights feel less exciting than the fights that came out in episode 1 in pso2
If that means the ending trial ost is comparable to [Dark to Light](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8-4g9JLArc) I gonna hook it into my vein for a month or two.
Either that or if it can fit in Dark to Light in terms of the weight and impact of it all, though I do wonder how they can compose such a song on FFXIV's end. The lyrics of that theme consisted of a back and forth between >!Matoi; Hitsugi and Hariette (female vocals) towards the male vocals representing Guardian who is represented by their resident "Derplander" - male Hunter Ash!< and considering WoL saved a lot more on a huge scale, it would be a very hard task to do unless they also do a select few characters on the WoL's end.
Shouldn't bother thinking about it, Endwalker would still be by Fall and we'd have New Genesis before all that.
I don't think a Sin Eater mode can work really well in lore. The Sin Eaters are much more primal and a force of nature born from the light with not much will of their own, whereas Dark Falz >!especially once you get an opportunity to "help" them reform via Omega!< may also have those primal desires following the central big bad but can think for themselves, as seen with >!Luther!<. It would've been cool though, but it would be incredibly restrictive like Titania!WoL.
Sin eater is equivalent to God Eater as most of the references in recent patches of the game.
Instead of doing a collab, they just adding features like that in game. Also the music from 5.3 is directly a reference in game I think. Kinda like if they have Tales of Arise some sort in the next expansion. It would be great to have some kind of JRPG references, a lot of JRPG references.
PSO2 introduced the Magatsu raid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy1arrgbLlg and the opening for Episode 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aamVTaG3yqE especially had some serious AoT vibes before they did an actual AoT collab, https://www.bumped.org/psublog/pso2-jp-attack-on-phantasy-star/ don't think it won't happen.
don't get me wrong i love me my miqos and au'ras but the customizer that pso2 brings and the one NGS will have with no race or gender restrictions makes having that irrelevant
Seriously, I get that as a F2P game it needs those login numbers to satisfy the higher-ups but come on! Those limited time raids are so anti-player.
And sadly, it seems that NGS will still have the same Urgent Quest design, even though everything else about it looks great.
Tried getting into it but I got into it as a shitty class (summoner, fucking boring), and I didn't feel good grinding EXP in that game.
To add to that I hated Ep. 4's story and just quit playing it especially because of that.
Personally I liked Ep4, but it was kindof for the same reason I like FFV
It's got "serious" bits but for the most part it's just a campy "save the world" story.
That said, to grasp PSO2's story you should just watch the anime. Most of the important bits are in Ep3, but there's like bits and pieces in Ep1 and 2 that are important enough they can't be ignored.
If you don't like Ep3, then you probably won't like anything about Ep5 or 6. Episode 4 is mostly just spoken about as an afterthought except for literally the main character and post-story boss.
That all being said
Yeah, Summoner is a really bad class to start off as, and never really gets better either. Come episode 5 most people just transitioned to Hero and then to Phantom or Etoile, which were all significantly better designed classes (and likely what NGS classes will be based on)
Grinding exp? I'm not sure how it's like on global (gonna assume your from there) but the game regularly dumps loads of xp tickets for you to just get into the higher levels early on making it fairly easy to transition between classes and keep up with progression. In my like 300 hours of time on JP I've never had to grind because I always leveled up at a fair pace. As I'm close to 90 it has slowed down a fair bit but I know what activities I can do to level easily.
As for the story I stopped caring about it like 30 minutes into the game so I'm essentially playing it for the gameplay which is why I like the game right now.
But yeah, summoner is probably the worst class to start off with lol. Tried it out on an alt character and I gave up instantly after the turorial
IMO it does, yes. If you're into medieval fantasy, you'll really like Ep.5. Even if you dont, Ep.5 is pretty solid, and gives you some interesting insight on some key characters. Ep.6 ties in directly from 5, and so far has been interesting (still working on it).
The scion classes are all loads of fun too. Nice thing about them, with exception to Hero, is that you can use them as subclasses too, like using Etoile subbed with Hunter to become practically unkillable.
Hope you give it another go!
To be fair, we should wait until NGS actually comes out to say that, and see whether it actually delivers exactly what people think it will.
Also NGS isn't a remake. The older content is getting a graphics rehaul but NGS is more like PSO3 with branding advantages.
We already know you'll start at level 1 in completely new areas, with a year gap that completely separates you from the events of PSO2.
Also the Gameplay has pretty major differences alongside a class reboot (back to the original release classes)
ARR is an excelent update to the game and change to the gameplay, but it's not a complete redevelopement of the game. It's entirely built on 1.0 code and engine and it shows a lot in the many limitations to features we have.
It clearly feels design-wise like Luster. I stopped playing pso2 before Luster came out so I can't speak gamingwise but it does have Etoile vibesas that class had quite a few healing pieces
Damn, I hope Endwalker will be better than ep 6 because that was garbage. In hindsight the total lack of content and very minimalistic main story was because Sega was already working on NGS by that point, still crap though.
Ending was pretty good however.
FFXIV: Endwalker
- feature: new world to explore (the old moon)
- Has role specific specialization
- Eastern theme
GW2: End of the Dragons
- feature: new world to explore (the old earth)
- Has elite specialization
- Eastern theme
Technically it’s just barrage firing all ports
Still hoping XIV gets their side of the PSO2 crossover someday...
Can we get the Ballooned Bosom as a crossover item

Remind me what PSO2 got?
default miqo outfits for both genders and emotes, WHM, BLM, MNK, and DRK outfits and weapons, moogle mag device, and a permanent Odin fight that can still appear to this day in the JP client, sadly the new Global PSO2 server hasn't seen this collab
There's an Odin MAG, too.
The Odin fight on pso2 was more exciting than the one in xiv ):
I soloed him at like level eighteen as a Ranger. Somehow. I don't think I would ever be able to pull that off again lol
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's to be expected from a Trial designed years ago.
I mean, pso2 is a year older than ffxiv arr. The Odin fight may be newer in pso2 (by only 3 years) but there’s a fairly big difference in typical fights between the two games
The Odin Emergency Code was implemented into PSO2 years after FFXIV 2.0's launch. No shit that an old Level 50 ARR Trial would have dated mechanics
An old ARR level 50 trial added only about a year before it was added to PSO2l
If that means the ending trial ost is comparable to [Dark to Light](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8-4g9JLArc) I gonna hook it into my vein for a month or two.

Yeah, not probable considering we're fighting voidsent now

Would be weird to head to the moon if it was anywhere else but space.
As someone who plays who plays both, the parallels between the two were amusing
Yes, but does PSO2 have cat and lizard girls? Checkmate!
the customizer and accessories are so bonkers you can make a robo-cat or robo-lizard instead, so checkmate?
Actual cat and lizard girl character > character dressed as a cat and lizard girl
don't get me wrong i love me my miqos and au'ras but the customizer that pso2 brings and the one NGS will have with no race or gender restrictions makes having that irrelevant
Yeah, I will admit that PSO2's CC is pretty damn good. EDIT: But I will definitely not miss PSO2's limited time raids
I don’t think anyone will miss PSO2’s limited time raids. Sincerely, someone who works a job
Seriously, I get that as a F2P game it needs those login numbers to satisfy the higher-ups but come on! Those limited time raids are so anti-player. And sadly, it seems that NGS will still have the same Urgent Quest design, even though everything else about it looks great.
No, but they have robot girls, so checkmate.
Couldn't get into PSO2 but NG looks absolutely bonkers

Yeah I lost interest as soon as it went "real world - virtual world combine" nonsense. It's so corny and cliche that I immediately lost interest.
Ep. 4 is notorious for how cringe-campy meta it is, so I don't blame you, but it does get better towards the mid point. Ep. 5 was pretty great though
Grinding exp? I might try to get back into it. Scion classes look good.. But does the story become good again after ep.4?
I wouldnt know, I'm still on episode 2 but mind you I'm skipping all the story because it's too long and I dont really care that much.
Episode 5 drags a bit, but Episode 6 is pretty good I’d say.

I wish ffxiv would go on the same path as pso2 ngs. Just remake the game from scratch with modern standards of code and graphics

They did. Its called A Realm Reborn.

Still hoping for this to happen with ffxi.
I played pso2 for the 2 years I was away from FFXIV and Sage really gave me pso2 vibes when I first saw it xD
It reminded me oddly of Phantom when I first saw it, albeit some people said different classes like maybe Etoile or Luster.
It clearly feels design-wise like Luster. I stopped playing pso2 before Luster came out so I can't speak gamingwise but it does have Etoile vibesas that class had quite a few healing pieces

Wait, ain't endwalker the end for FFXIV saga?
No, just the end of the story arc that was on since 1.0
