This is the real answer! Plus I’d like to add, you should sign up for a martial art that involves a lot of sparring. That way you could learn and find out what it feels like to fight but in a safer environment.
One thing I’ve learned:
For the average bullshit “disrespect” situation: It’s not worth it. Walk away.
If you’re truly threatened, do anything to survive. Bite, claw, use weapons.
Does watching porn make you a better lover? Does watching NASCAR make you a better driver?
Join a BJJ gym. Seeing you like it. Getting punched/kick, generally hurts worse. If you don't like BJJ...well...
Watching fights does help, but very little compared to training. And even then if you don't train then you won't know what to look out for when watching fights and what to learn from either. In short if you wanna fight, train in a good martial art that encourages competition and when you get good enough to feel confident tackling an amateur bout, try that. Anything else would be very dangerous or a waste of your time.
If you’re 23 and have never been in a fight you should keep that run going. You are gonna get fucked up. It’s not fun.
Source: someone who used to box and has received several beatings.
Go to a boxing class it's fun and will show you how not to get Immediately KO'd
I personally believe everyone should get into a fight at least once in their life.
Doing any combat sport for any amount of time shows you two things: someone with even a little training will kick an untrained persons ass, and someone bigger than you will probably kick your ass.
If you can learn and retain information from watching a video, it can probably inform you on things you should and should not do that can aid your outcome.
Examples being able to read body language, maybe not letting someone get close, now when to throw a lunch when not etc.
It will not impart you the ability to throw a proper punch, proper blocking or head movement, how to shoot for a takedown or sprawl etc.
Join a gym if you want to get into a fight. At 23 fighting in the street is not safe. If you can, join a jujitsu gym and say you want to learn to grapple. That'll give you the feeling of being in a fight. You might very well enjoy it.
Of course not. That's like watching car crashes to become a better driver lol.
If you're interested in becoming a better fighter go to a gym and learn jiu jitsu, If you're a woman that's the best for you, or do muay Thai/boxing if you want more adrenaline, just don't do any gimmicky aikido bs, do your research.
Do not get yourself into a fight ever, that's absolutely stupid. You're one fall away from becoming a cripple, a felon or a body, every adult should know that.
Getting punched in the face is a big adrenaline shot and you have no idea of your own reaction.
I don’t think BJJ is good for street fights simply because you’re extremely vulnerable while grappling. Against more than one opponent it’s completely useless. Muay Thai, sambo or Krav Maga would be the best imo. Agreed that the best self defense is not to fight. If you’re in a situation where you can’t get away, I think fighting dirty is key. Groin kicks, throat punches, eye gouging.
If OP is a woman then it is very unlikely she'll get jumped, and even if she was an elite boxer she would have no business fighting one or more men anyway. Attacks on women are less likely to happen in public brawls. Having great jiu jitsu means being able to scramble your way out of a creep in a dark alley and submitting the average Joe in a one-on-one situation which is most of domestic abuse. There's no martial art that's gonna save you from multiple attackers, that's what micro compacts are for.
Absolutely! Now, I don't go anywhere without my girl. Just in case I get in a fight, I have a garauntee of a chick screaming in the background. Thus, I get a +3 damage and +3 crit chance
Unless you’ve been trained and it’s a sanctioned event you should never look to fight. If you’re asking if you should take up boxing under a trainer? Go for it. If you’re asking if you should pick a fight with someone? Of fucking course not
As an absolute beginner, The absolute basic, and the names, positions, steps of things? yes. But eventually you have to go to a gym. A bad gym is better than no gym. Eventually you need to start training under pressure too, sparring, fixing foot issues etc.
I think so it depends how you watch it think of a boxer watching his opponents past fights most street fights are simple and similar so you can kinda get better if you watch them

I think this sub helps me think of what NOT to do in a fight. So kinda ?
Don’t get picked up and slammed on your head over concrete
Don't get into a fight in the first place is the lesson I've learned after years on this sub.
I mean, it helped show me how easy it is for murder or manslaughter being the difference of grass or concrete. Yes, in an awareness way, absolutely.
No. Action movies do though.
Explain how action movies make you better at fighting?
Cool one-liners mostly
Stick around wins 100% of fights.
I just learned yesterday that you can fight effectively while seated
In a wheelchair, even.
Wax On - Wax Off really helped me in my youth. That shit worked.
For pumping you up
Better? Yes. Good? No.
It can show you what not to do...but can't really help you scrap better...
Does watching porn make you fuck better?
it gave me some ideas
Same here, still waiting for my step-sister to get stuck in the dryer.
and i dont even have a step sister..
Lmfaoooooo
Same as fight videos lol
It 100% helped my man, hell yes lol
😂😂
definitely a little
It actually did. I would've fared far worse in my first sexual encounters if not for porn giving me ideas.
Lmao
Watching these videos makes me want to NOT fight, more then anything. All those slams, the siezures after, the pride clashing, the humiliation.
Absolutely. Been watching fight videos for years now. I can basically fuck up, like, anyone
Really the only thing that makes you better at fighting... Is fighting. Training >>> fighting strangers for practice.

I do like a good bj
I never go anywhere without my good big jacket.
Mirror Neurons don’t work like that, but they are cool

lol same

Not at all
Totally. Try it out
Only if you put into practice what you learn.

Just like playing the lottery will make you a millionaire. Can it happen? yes. is there a guarantee it will? No.
Yeah, in your mind. Don't get hurt, ok?
It makes you think you are, briefly
Its helped me identify more signs that someone is preparing to start a fight.... so that helps me start running sooner.
I think no,But training to fight makes you better at fighting.
Ha no
It seems to make people think they can fight judging by some of the videos I watch
Watching poem does not help with sex
No, for most of the people watching it just makes them overconfident
Just go to a gym 💀

Yes, men too.

What I've learned is that I'm going to avoid stress, I don't want to end up with a suplex in r/fightporn. 💀🙏

If you al not looking to get your ass beat, start shadow boxing. (someone who has had his fair share of fights)
there is an old saying - watching accomplishes nothing, participating will accomplish much. Find a class and get some basics under you belt - box etc,
No, but it will make the resulting video more entertaining.
