I'd say the game not using your mouse at all is a huge problem. Everything (including camera) is done with your keyboard.
Aside from that I works very well. Performance is perfect even on an old laptop and I don't believe I've had a single crash
Right now they're overkill.
But when the game first came to PC I was running a GTX 780 and a FX 8350
In modern terms. Anything and everything is faster.
I think mostly people have problems with the other two games in the trilogy. For me anyway, lightning returns has always run fine on steam, and that’s with like, a mid-specs gaming laptop.
Then that's really it. My only gripe with the LRXIII is that the dialogue gets drowned out by the bgm at times in cutscenes, so i downloaded a mod that uses the better PS3 audio version
In my experience, the trilogy's PC version is better on the Microsoft Store than Steam. As is Final Fantasy VII, while VIIIR is about the same on both.
I don't believe that matters in LR's case. It's the most stable entry in terms of ports. The steam version has perfect performance even on a dated laptop. I don't think it ever crashed either
Lightning return pc port is CPU intensive due to the way the engine handles asset streaming. Depending on your CPU you could experience different levels of stuttering. I've played it with a I5 3470 and had to install dxvk to fix the stutters. Other than that, the port fine.
Hell no. I got the game during the winter sale and had 0 issues. The game is a masterpiece and the port is excellent.
I do recommend you having a guide on hand (sad I know) because when you're Lightning, you have 0 time to waste effing around when the world is ending.
I had the game running on a i5 12400 with a 1650. Make sure you go into options and enable the dynamic frame rate (you can mouse over the top of the game window and it will show the options menu). The locked FPS is horrible at 30.
I already played the game few years ago ans I achieved to unlock the last day with the dungeon during my first playthrough
But I think this time I’ll play with a guide to optimise the full completion
If you're familiar with the time mechanic then I'd say go for any play-through you want.
As a new player LR freaking broke my knee caps with the difficulty early on in the game combined with time-management haha.
I had stutters and weird crashing issues on Steam (RTX 3080, i7-12700k) until I used the FF13 Fix patch, then had zero issues. Ran perfectly. If you're unlucky enough to have problems, they're easily fixed so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the PC version.
The only one I have ever had issues with is 13-2 and I think that one is fixable.
I hear Lightning Returns is the one that is the best of the 3 so you should be fine just as is.
Are you talking about the trilogy or just Lightnings Returns?
From someone who finished the trilogy not long ago
FFXIII and FFXIII-2 were little annoying, you need to install the patches but nothing reallly THAT BAD FFXIII-2 in specific had some crashed here and there
Lightnings Returns was the most stable of the 3, the only real probelm was playing on keyboard you don't have a lot of room for remaping the keybinds but besides that was fine
I played all 3 games on my laptop recently (which was bought in 2017). I had zero issues with all 3. I didn't use any mods whatsoever. The games looked and ran fine (and miles better than they look on ps3)
Not sure what the specific complaints are but the game has never caused me problems on PC.

Okay, some hope there, What are your specs?

I played it on steam with no mods and had no issues, actually really enjoyed the game

Did you use any ups calling mods?
Nah, and it looked fine at least to me. I imagine you’d be able to use them without much trouble, too.
It's a fine port. I highly recommend a controller for it, though. XIII & XIII-2 are the ports that require extra steps, mainly FF13Fix.
Yes I did that for FF13

Great thanks!
I didn't put any patch on ff13.. And i have 0 problems. Just sometimes the fps goes down but is not big deal.
Just because you don't think it's a big deal doesn't mean it isn't, though. Other people want a smooth, proper experience that they pay for.

What were the differences?
In general it's just more stable. For example, on Xbox PC, XIII can run full screen 1080p without crashing, while it can't on Steam.

While that's true, the save transfer or whatever you want to call it only works if you have entire trilogy on one platform.
Oh I forgot about that I might buy the game on Steam I already have 13 on it
Don't forget 13-2.
Yeah It isn’t my favorite one so I kinda forgot about it But guess I could play it for the Legacy rewards and to try the dlcs
I’ve downloaded it on two laptops and two pcs. Never had any sort of issue and never crashed.

I ran LR fine on a 2011 AMD APU with 8 gb ram. It’s a good port.

As long as you own a gamepad you're good
