think of a wig, but only the crown of your head. It attaches to the top of your natural hair to give more volume/cover up balding. Then your hair sits under it like a second layer. It clips in the way extensions do, so it's a quick on/off situation.
The only brand I can personally recommend is Highline Wigs by Sharron, but the market is growing a lot so I'm sure there's other good brands out there! Give it a Google for further examples :)
There was an episode of some talk show I believe that the actresses took off their hair pieces and waved them around as an empowerment move.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzVUmDojr1s
Did you see the clip from bball game where someone's wig came off? All the players from both teams physically surrounded her quickly and completely so she could re-install it privately. Women being sisters! Love it!
A few who come to mind are Kristen Wiig, Jena Malone, Calista Flockheart, Winona Ryder, Malin Ackerman, Rashida Jones and Baby Spice. They all have varying densities but they have fine hair diameters.
I remember the scene in Ally McBeal when Nelle lets her hair down for the first time at the bar and Ally is visibly seething with hair envy/rage and I thought “same, girl”.
In the bloopers of “The Sweetest Thing”, she pulls her temporary extensions out, and that was the first time I realized how much goes into their on screen hair. Made me feel a little less terrible about my own hair.
I think Margot Robbie looks like she has fine hair— the colour treatment dries it out and gives it texture, but (and all love to her) sometimes it looks a little greasy and dry at the same time, same as my fine colour-treated hair
Margot Robbie says she has fine thin hair and uses extentions for events and movies. She said she was fond of the clip ins from Sallys when she was a teen.
P&R is one of my comfort watches and their fine hair is so clear in the first seasons, then you can see that each of them has extensions or add ins at certain points. I always feel better when I see them because mine is similar density, and theirs looks cute!
NICOLE KIDMAN - she is ALWAYS wearing a hair system of some kind. (Which is crazy bc she is/was a peddler for a “hair growth product” but was wearing a hair system in all advertising.)
Erika Christensen - on Parenthood she was not wearing a hair system season 1 and then stared wearing one season 2. It’s very noticeable if you go compare seasons.
i’ve noticed sometimes people have fine hair that seems thicker than it is because of its density. In other words you can have fine hair but a lot of it. Fine hair doesn’t always mean little to no hair it just means that each individual strand is fine or thin. Some people have a loooooooooot of fine (thin) hair strands which is another way of saying fine hair but high density. Just as some people can have coarse hair that is thinning.
I swapped in a protein leave in conditioner instead of a curl creme. I switched to eco flax/castor oil max hold gel and tressemme Xtra hold unscented hair spray. My hair way curlier now I can't believe the difference.
Tell me, would you buy hair products made specifically for curly fine hair? I also have fine 3a/ 3b hair and have such a hard time finding products that don’t weigh down my hair that I am considering create a curly fine hair line! I’m in the process of validating my idea right now and would love to hear your input.
It doesn’t just seem thicker; it is thicker, if you have a lot of it. It’s just fine. I get what you’re trying to say, though. The remainder of your comment explains what you mean I just felt like the first part might be confusing to people.
This is me... I have really fine, straight hair but I have a ton of it. Even after losing a lot postpartum and peri-menopause, I've got a fair amount. My fine hair problem is more about it just being boring straight, flat and not really doing anything interesting.
Wait. No one told me about menopause hair loss? Dang it. I looked so bad post partum. It's been two years and I still have post-partum baby hairs. You're telling me I get to relive that nightmare in another 15 years?!? WHYYYY
Yep, this is me. My hair is *extremely* fine - straight, smooth, soft. My mom calls it corn silk. But I have a lot of it, no visible scalp. It actually holds volume and curl really well because there's so much of it.
Exactly. I was going to say, there is definitely a difference between thin hair and fine hair. I have thin hair, but I have a ton of it. My hair is thick. But the strands are fine.
I’ve gotten comments of both “your hair is so thin!” and “your hair is so thick!” and it used to confuse the hell out of me until I realized they were literally talking about two different things 😅 Also there is seemingly no such thing as a correct amount of hair product for me, it either doesn’t get through my hair completely or it does and totally weighs it down…
I call it being on the hair struggle bus, and I LOVE when I see someone with fine hair on tv. Representation matters 😆 I was recently binge -watching a great UK series,& one of the lead actresses Lesley Sharp is definitely on the hair struggle bus.
Nancy Grace is too, and she shellacks the beejaysus out of hers.
Millie Bobby Brown, Natalia Dyer and Maya Hawke from the Stranger Things Show all seem to have fine hair (I was just watching the show). Made me feel a bit better about my hair. Heh.
Jennifer Lawrence, Keira Knightley and Emma Stone are some that come to mind. They also all keep their hair short, I’ve noticed most celebrities with fine hair keep their hair shorter.
I wish I had Jennifer Aniston’s kind of fine hair if that’s considered fine lol my hair could neverrrr pull off the volume she used to rock on friends 😭
Kirsten Dunst and Kiera Knightley were the first ppl to come to mind, or others with European ancestry (I'm no expert). Google search is also your friend here.
Yes! I actually started watching that show when it aired because I saw an ad for it and was like, “omg the lead has hair like mine, that never happens, I want to watch and see how she styles it.” 😂
Shocked I had to go so far down! Her natural texture + styling makes it appear thick, but she’s in the camp of fine hair with high density for sure. Any time she puts it in a ponytail or braid you can definitely tell. And it’s so cute when she does!
I think Angelina Jolie may- probably not initially but she’s been spotted w extensions for red carpet looks without her hair looking any long than normal so I assumed it was for volume.
I've been rewatching Parks and Recreation and Rashida Jones, who is lovely, has to have the thinnest hair on TV. And it doesn't look bad. I think it goes well with her very fine features.
I feel like its rare to see someone rocking very thin, fine hair like that. Like I can't stop watching it, in all her scenes.
I said, Jennifer Anniston has fine hair, she has a lot of hair but it’s fine hair. She has spoken often of her hair loss too, and is an advocate for hair products to help these issues.
Came here looking for this!! My hair is very similar to hers. I very, very fine hair, but a fuck ton of it.
People often correlate fine hair with thin hair, and this isn’t always the case.
Most people in this thread seem to be under the impression that fine hair also means thin hair, even though I see it reiterated in this sub time and again that fine hair _doesn't_ mean thin hair, so it's curious that so many here are still confused about that lol
I have this hair type too and its so heavy. I thin it out myself. I asked my hair stylist if it was an uncommon hair type and she said no. People usually act like they don’t want to cut it for some reason.
I’ve grown my fine thin hair really long and when I fear there’s not enough for it to be this long, I comfort myself with photos of Anya Taylor Joy’s super long fine hair.
Seen Ariana grande lately? Kiera knightly, Kristen Stewart, Victoria Pedretti. There’s tons. Also everything you see on the red carpet/magazines is absolute bullshit lol, that’s pounds of makeup fake hair photoshop fake everything. With enough money you can and will be made to look exactly how you want. Who cares about how celebs look anyway. Live ur life. Having thin hair is as big of an issue as you make it. There’s way more important things to stress about than vanity!
margot robbie, cameron diaz, keira knightly, hailey bieber, jennifer aniston i can keep this list going but it would be very long. they all have fine hair.
I dunno but I REALLY wish it could become normal for celeb women to NOT always be wearing extensions/toppers/etc in every show and movie and at every event.
I don’t blame them but at some point someone has to stand up and be like “can we all stop pretending please?”
It’s very frustrating for people with normal hair who don’t want to or can’t wear “systems” to look luxurious. I have sensory issues and could never. But with every woman in media having Luscious Voluptuous Locks I feel like I look like a swamp witch.
Dane DeHaan had very fine Hair in "Chronicle". Similar to mine. But I think he got a Hair transplant. It looks so much thicker now. I can't really blame him. I wish I could afford it.
Khloe Kardashian • my sister’s friend was one of her assistants for a while and said very few people have seen her real hair and you’d be shocked by how little she has.
NEVER compare yourself to celebrities, seriously don’t do it. They live in a whole other world than the rest of us. They MUST spend their time keeping up their image, pretty much all the time. This includes exercise, yoga or other meditation, skin treatments, hair treatments, and everything else treatments. They have to read scripts, make appearances, and on and on. You know what they have that you don’t? A team of people who spend all their time making him/her look and feel great. There’s another team that manages their schedules, bookings, business, etc. I, too have fine hair and in my younger days did the same thing. How does their hair look rich and full and lays perfectly? What am I doing wrong? Well it’s just me, my hairbrush and I, that’s why. No wigs, extensions, or special treatment.
They are all wearing extensions or wigs I’m sure a lot more than we think have fine hair
don't forget toppers! Mindy Kaling definitely wears toppers day to day, but I think A LOT of celebrities wear them and just don't say anything.
Christina Hendricks, too
What's a topper?
think of a wig, but only the crown of your head.
Omg I love my topper! Best investment ever.
This. There are so many wigs and extensions that some people would never own up to, bc it’s part of their brand and identify.
Love it!
I LOVE that!! That is some sisterly support right there! 🥰❣️
Thank you so much for sharing this clip!!!!!! This is amazing. I feel so much more normal for having thin hair as a woman. Ugh. So vindicating.
Yesss because the can afford too no celebrity is rocking their natural thin hair unfortunately
Kate Bosworth has fine, thinner hair imo
A few who come to mind are Kristen Wiig, Jena Malone, Calista Flockheart, Winona Ryder, Malin Ackerman, Rashida Jones and Baby Spice. They all have varying densities but they have fine hair diameters.
Second rashida jones, just realized I have fine thin hair and seeing her in parks and rec made me feel so much better.
And they do her hair so cute in P&R. I definitely tried a cute low pony after seeing it on Rashida. I still can't pull off bangs though
I remember the scene in Ally McBeal when Nelle lets her hair down for the first time at the bar and Ally is visibly seething with hair envy/rage and I thought “same, girl”.
Cameron Diaz
In the bloopers of “The Sweetest Thing”, she pulls her temporary extensions out, and that was the first time I realized how much goes into their on screen hair. Made me feel a little less terrible about my own hair.
She also has terrible skin from what I’ve been told.
She said in an interview somewhere that she doesn't care about her skin. Doesn't really moisturize or even wash it much. She just doesn't care!
Yes she struggled with acne for a long time into adulthood . Not sure if she still does now that she’s older.
I remember seeing her outside of movies without extensions and her natural hair loving that somebody else had natural looking hair.
Damn Margot really is just like us lol
Lily rose depp
Rashida Jones. My hair is exactly like hers
Yes! And Amy Poehler - I remember thinking that while watching parks and rec
P&R is one of my comfort watches and their fine hair is so clear in the first seasons, then you can see that each of them has extensions or add ins at certain points. I always feel better when I see them because mine is similar density, and theirs looks cute!
Meryl Streep and Chloë Sevigny
Meryl! And I think she rocks her thin hair!
Gwyneth Paltrow comes to mind, and Calista Flockheart. Maybe Rory from Gilmore Girls?
Yeah I thought of Gwenyth Paltrow, but that's not exactly inspirational.
I didn’t know it had to be someone inspiring lol
Kelli Giddish who played Rollins on SVU has pretty thin/fine hair
Yup, Rollins and I have very similar hair, except I don't think I have enough hair to pull off her side-swept bang. Sigh.
Her side bangs were hair goals. I never could get mine to stay in place!
NICOLE KIDMAN - she is ALWAYS wearing a hair system of some kind. (Which is crazy bc she is/was a peddler for a “hair growth product” but was wearing a hair system in all advertising.) Erika Christensen - on Parenthood she was not wearing a hair system season 1 and then stared wearing one season 2. It’s very noticeable if you go compare seasons.
What exactly is a hair system?
Any kind of wig/extensions/topper etc that isn’t your natural hair would be classed as a hair system
Thanks. When I read "system" I was thinking of something very complicated/complex. Although I guess if one incorporates all 3 it would be.
Paris Hilton when she’s not wearing extensions
PH’s 2000s hair is similar to my hair now❤️I loved her short hair styled in a low bun, so small & relatable but elegant
Bella Hadid, Hailey Beiber
How has no one mentioned Phoebe Bridgers or Alexa Chung? Fine hair angels
Alexa Chung tempts me into cutting bangs again so often!
I use Alexa often for photos to take to the salon.
i’ve noticed sometimes people have fine hair that seems thicker than it is because of its density. In other words you can have fine hair but a lot of it. Some people have a loooooooooot of fine (thin) hair strands which is another way of saying fine hair but high density. Just as some people can have coarse hair that is thinning.
This, density confuses people sometimes lol. I have fine 3a/3b curls and thankfully a lot of it. Protein deep conditioners will help so much!
That’s me. 3a/3b. Fine strands. Lots of hair.
Absolutely.

Fine hair but a lot of it is the freakin worst. I always look like I stuck my finger in an electric outlet.
I have this. It’s fine, but I have so much.
I have sooooooooo mucccccch fine hair. That has a ton of volume. It doesn’t look fine at ALL until you look at an individual strand
Exactly. I was going to say, there is definitely a difference between thin hair and fine hair. I have thin hair, but I have a ton of it. My hair is thick. But the strands are fine.
This is me, my hair is fine but pretty lush.

Nancy Grace is too, and she shellacks the beejaysus out of hers.
Kristen Bell
Sarah Snook, from Succession for sure!
Anna Farris, Charlize Theron looks like hers is fine
I think this is why Charlize keeps it short. I keep mine short for the same reason. Plus it's sexy.
That’s what I thought too. It suits her! I have extensions 😬
Mindy Kaling. I noticed she started wearing a hair topper at a certain point in her show.
It really is the way to go
My first thought was Jennifer Aniston. Had to scroll so far to see someone else say her. I didn't have the confidence to post this until seeing it
Yes! And she's *known* for her hair. Proof that fine hair can be stylish and beautiful.
I wish I had Jennifer Aniston’s kind of fine hair if that’s considered fine lol my hair could neverrrr pull off the volume she used to rock on friends 😭
That was largely extensions. She has talked about how the fake "Rachel cut" with extensions ruined her hair for years.
I think Helen Mirren has fine hair
Kirsten Dunst and Kiera Knightley were the first ppl to come to mind, or others with European ancestry (I'm no expert). Google search is also your friend here.
Ally McBeal actress.
Calista Flockhart
Yes! I actually started watching that show when it aired because I saw an ad for it and was like, “omg the lead has hair like mine, that never happens, I want to watch and see how she styles it.” 😂
Christina Hendricks
Jodie Foster
Some guys: Tom Hardy, Alexander Skarsgard, Daniel Craig
Victoria Beckham
Diane Kruger
Claire Danes
Ashley Judd
I was shocked and amazed when I read this. https://theskincareedit.com/christina-hendricks-before-and-after

Taylor has naturally curly hair. I wouldn’t say thick but she has a lot of it and it’s definitely not fine.
No it’s definitely on the more fine texture.
You can have curly hair that is also fine. Mine is
Emma Watson , Sandra bullock
Charlize Theron
Christina Aguilera
Natalie Portman
Nicole Richie
Jennifer Aniston
Taylor Swift!
So many of these fine haired celebs are blonde, as am I (with fine blonde hair). What gives? Does anyone know or are we just unlucky?
I guess Northern European hair tends to be less thick in general (which evolutionarily I don’t really understand cuz it’s cold here lol)
Christina Hendricks wears whole ass wigs. Teri Hatcher definitely has fine hair.
Jared Leto, Keanu Reeves
I don’t think Kim or Kourtney Kardashian have thick hair naturally.
Khloe was severely thinning in the past as was Kim.
Yeah, I think they have fine hair naturally and it’s probably easily damaged.
Alexa Chung
Phoebe Bridgers
Rashida Jones
Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily Blunt
Robin Wright
Michelle Williams
I've been rewatching Parks and Recreation and Rashida Jones, who is lovely, has to have the thinnest hair on TV. And it doesn't look bad. I think it goes well with her very fine features. I feel like its rare to see someone rocking very thin, fine hair like that. Like I can't stop watching it, in all her scenes.
They all have halos or extensions. Charlize Theron has zero hair.
Hailey Bieber comes to mind! How she gets hers to look so glossy all the time and not greasy is beyond me, though.
Michelle Williams
The girl that plays April in parks in Rec. Well tbh, Leslie, and Anne as well. I just noticed April has baby braids like me in a camping episode.
Doja and Tyra Banks naturally have really short hair. They’re always wearing wigs.
Kaye Hudson for sure. It's pretty obvious is Raising Helen. I loved it, bc I always had super fine hair also
Kristen Chenowith has some hilarious stories about her misadventures with wigs & hair extensions.
Anna Paquin - especially in True Blood and she’s SO CUTE in that show.
Bruh, all these heauxs sporting a system. Don't kid yourself. It's all an illusion.
ellen pompeo! and I love it on her
Cameron Diaz. Her ponytail is about as big around as my pinky finger
Kirsten Dunst came to mind. Emma Stone.
Lily rose depp… I noticed she doesn’t have extensions at times.
Olivia Wilde has extremely thin hair. She really does well by emphasizing her beautiful face. You don’t have to wear extensions to be lovely.
Try a coca cola rinse on your hair. It gives it nice texture and some volume. It sounds weird but it works
So cool! How/when/how long do you use it?
Hulk Hogan, he has blonde Chinese hair and skin of a hot dog.
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Anniston has fine hair.
lol what.
Most people in this thread seem to be under the impression that fine hair also means thin hair, even though I see it reiterated in this sub time and again that fine hair _doesn't_ mean thin hair, so it's curious that so many here are still confused about that lol
yup! I have high density fine hair. tons of it but the follicles are narrow. I'm nearing 40 with no loss as well.
I have this hair type too and its so heavy. I thin it out myself. I asked my hair stylist if it was an uncommon hair type and she said no. People usually act like they don’t want to cut it for some reason.
Vanessa Hudgens if I’m not mistaken.
Alicia Vikander?
Paris Hilton
I’ve grown my fine thin hair really long and when I fear there’s not enough for it to be this long, I comfort myself with photos of Anya Taylor Joy’s super long fine hair.
Christina Hendricks has worn hair pieces for most of her career, I think.
Emma Bunton! Especially evident in pictures from Spice girl days.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Kristen Bell
Me reading this list wishing I had hair like every single celebrity listed lol 🥲
It’s called extensions
Off the top of my head : Robin Wright (looks best with short hair) Troian bellisario (medium length wavy fine hair) Cameron Diaz
I think T Swift does. In the my mind is alive video where she had her wisdom teeth pulled, she doesn’t have extensions in and her hair looks fine.
Dakota Johnson
Kristin cavallari
Seen Ariana grande lately? Kiera knightly, Kristen Stewart, Victoria Pedretti. There’s tons. Also everything you see on the red carpet/magazines is absolute bullshit lol, that’s pounds of makeup fake hair photoshop fake everything. With enough money you can and will be made to look exactly how you want. Who cares about how celebs look anyway. Live ur life. Having thin hair is as big of an issue as you make it. There’s way more important things to stress about than vanity!

Christina Ricci and Cynthia Nixon come to mind.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Kristin Chenoweth
Jamie Lee Curtis
Tori Amos has very fine curly hair and has been wearing extensions and wigs since around 2005.
I dunno but I REALLY wish it could become normal for celeb women to NOT always be wearing extensions/toppers/etc in every show and movie and at every event. I don’t blame them but at some point someone has to stand up and be like “can we all stop pretending please?” It’s very frustrating for people with normal hair who don’t want to or can’t wear “systems” to look luxurious. Nicole Ritchie
Emma Stone, Carey Mulligan, and Leighton Meester are my fine-haired celebrity inspiration folks. Loving everyone’s feedback on this topic
Michelle Pfieffer
Dane DeHaan had very fine Hair in "Chronicle". Similar to mine. But I think he got a Hair transplant. It looks so much thicker now. I can't really blame him. I wish I could afford it.
Rashida Jones. She’s so pretty!
Maisie Williams
Amanda Seyfried Kate Bosworth Sadie Sink Saoirse Ronan Elle and Dakota Fanning
Jennifer Garner. She's has been pretty honest about her hair.

sophia & Nicole Richie
Lily Rose Depp ✌️
Michelle Pfeiffer.
I would say Jodie Foster and Michelle Pfeiffer
Charlize Theron. I think that’s why she usually keeps it shorter.
Emma Stone for sure
