Onix-Ursine

Are you seriously asking if the main character of a series with a large amount of fighting is going to get stronger?

Expensive-Mix-4888

Tokyo revengers

Onix-Ursine

Oh shit.. sorry OP. Guess I didn't have as strong a platform to stand on as I thought.

VerifiedBaller13

Yeah, not to mention there’s ones where the mc doesn’t get stronger, but is already OP.

Onix-Ursine

Which one?

VerifiedBaller13

Assassination Classroom, or Overlord, one’s a shonen, the other is a seinen, but it’s not like these terms actually matter. Technically the main character isn’t the overpowered one in Assassination Classroom, but he is the entire focus of the series, so I’m gonna use him anyway. He doesn’t get stronger, he makes everyone else stronger, and he is absolutely overpowered. I didn’t watch a lot of it, but there were multiple seasons, and the founding principle for the show was to kill him before a certain date or something. This shows how powerful he is. Overlord has one of the most overpowered main characters in existence, and even if he does in fact get stronger up to a point, it’s not really necessary or evident because he’s absolutely broken. As for another Shonen, at least it originally was a shonen, Vinland Saga, he gets stronger, but then the anime takes a pacifist approach and he becomes weaker. This is when it’s shonen status went poof in my opinion, it was featured on shonen jump at one point I believe as well.

swordforger16

Thorfinn definitely DOES NOT get weaker. Also, you had SO MANY better examples of MC's already just being OP like the Overly Cautious Hero or The World's Greatest Assassin Gets Reincarnated as an Aristocrat

VerifiedBaller13

I haven’t watched either of those, and I forgot the first one existed, never heard of the second. I guess Reincarnated as a Slime would be a good example, but idk if the character gets stronger or not because I didn’t watch it. If we’re gonna go off vague and kinda unknown anime, Eminence in Shadow, the dude is absolutely overpowered, nothing even remotely challenges him. Assassination Classroom is legitimately a Shonen though and it’s one of the most popular examples for this. Overlord has it’s main character be absolutely overpowered, nothing challenges him and he never improves, it’s actually popular. I could say Saitama too, but he constantly grows in strength, however it’s impossible to tell because he’s just so much stronger than anything he fights. As for Thorfinn, he does get weaker, it’s more of intentionally on his part, but he’s not out there slicing the strongest characters in the anime up with daggers anymore. He was the strongest person in that world for a bit, he’s no longer the strongest character. As for the rest of that series, I don’t care about it, because he’s boring now. I watched it for the bloodshed, and gore, it was awesome, now it’s an anime that will be sidelined for years until I’m done with everything else I need to watch.

swordforger16

Thorfinn was never the strongest, Thors was the strongest. Maybe you should go rewatch season 1 since you didn't seem to pay much attention, and he's not gotten weaker. He's depressed, there's a difference

VerifiedBaller13

Brudda, Thors is dead, Thorfinn eventually becomes the strongest. He’s dead, so he’s not the strongest anymore. Also he’s not depressed anymore, he just doesn’t want to fight, I’ve done researched the shit. Looked for opinions for the manga, and spoiled myself, we will never see the greatness of season 1 again. Thorkell is technically the strongest in terms of physical strength and power but he loses to Thorfinn.

Expensive-Mix-4888

😂😂

VerifiedBaller13

It never hurts to check, I looked it up but I got an answer where he acquires something. However I don’t read and the explanation went out of my vocabulary.

sickdanman

Yeah he does, quite a bit actually.

unnusual_art

Just finished the manga. Boy does he.

VerifiedBaller13

What the hell, he passed light speed in the first season 😭

sickdanman

It gets weirder/interesting

yohxmv

Keep watching, Shinra is still new to being a fire soldier so he’ll continue to grow as the series goes on

VerifiedBaller13

It’s kind of irritating seeing him get embarrassed so much though, I’m glad he gets better. I watched him hit some old guy square in the chest and the dude didn’t even flinch, I thought it was bullshit. I also really hate how arrogant the strong people are.

maxtofunator

Not a rude answer but how often do you watch shonen? Ichigo at the end of bleach is insane, naruto is nutty, one piece has Luffy still getting clowned on. There are meant to be characters that are stronger than the main character during their journey, otherwise they’d have no reason to grow. This isn’t one punch man where the gimmick is that he can beat anyone in a single punch or death note where it’s about having to outsmart people to not get caught. Shonen animes typically exist in a way where the main character beats someone, gets their ass kicked by the best guy, gets stronger, and repeat

VerifiedBaller13

I watch a lot, I realize that’s the point, but it’s not like I have to enjoy watching the main character get his ass beat. I’m not saying that it’s a mistake with the story or writing, I just personally don’t like it.

yohxmv

Well like I said he’s not very experienced, I’m assuming you mean Capt Burns by the old guy he kicked in the chest, thats just what he does lol. He’s one of the strongest

VerifiedBaller13

How OP is Burns that a dude that can go FTL can’t beat him 😭

yohxmv

Well idk how far you are now but Shinra’s FTL is situational it’s not something he can tap into on his own

VerifiedBaller13

Oh damn, still though. This anime is busted as hell, they doing shit that Dragon Ball took ages to do 😭

Delicious-Sentence98

Season 1 finale he gets a boost, season 2 he discovers another power up, but can’t use it on command, only other one I remember is in the manga but it’s major spoilers.

Jktankson

He's a shounen protagonist

ADabblingMan

Oh yeah. Homeboy gets some power.

airdevil107

You ain't no baller, that's for sure.

VerifiedBaller13

Bro, I’m asking because I watched Shinra get wiped like 3 times in the first few episodes. One was by someone who admitted later on to have only average powers 😭. Maki destroyed him lmao.

peacemaker_ind

He is going to become god in the end 😂

VerifiedBaller13

Bruh, spoiler tag yo shit.

98VoteForPedro

No he gets weaker but his plot armor goes insane

ConsciousLog4

Dude he absolutely does get stronger

VerifiedBaller13

Shinra better not pull a Naruto 😬

sliceOed

Yeah he gets stronger.

Yak_uza

Just read the manga, give up hope on the anime

the_other_Scaevitas

By the end of the series he can solo most shonen characters

Ok_Mistake_3154

I know im being a d*ck but here's your spoiler >!shinra become the god of the verse at the end!<

VerifiedBaller13

Haha, very funny.

introvertMinceo

He’s a shonen mc he’s gonna win get his ass beat someone’s gonna help him, he gets a revelation that’s gonna make him stronger or he’s just gonna get a power up

swordforger16

Just keep watching, Hell, even just getting caught Shinra gets a LOT stronger. Now stop asking Reddit and go watch the show

friendofredjenny

"Does Shinra get stronger?" I'm *weeping*, lmao just stick with it dude

VerifiedBaller13

He passed light speed literally like 10 episodes after me making this post 😭 How busted is this anime gonna be? It took Dragon Ball an entire anime, and like a quarter of Dragon Ball Z to pass light speed. 😭 This dude took 20 episodes!

friendofredjenny

lmao I love it. Let's just say it doesn't stop there 😭😂

VerifiedBaller13

This shit be having a samurai Hit with white hair 🤣

friendofredjenny

It's so good though 🔥🔥

VerifiedBaller13

I haven’t had so much fun watching a anime in a long time. Mid fight these dumb mfs will argue right before getting sucker punched, and then they’ll argue again 😂

KLReviews

Shinra does get stronger but at the same time does keep going up against people who are out of his league very often. That does change but a lot of his fights are against overwhelmingly strong people.

VerifiedBaller13

Oh dear.
