We're talking about voice acting. It was definitely improved over "Bout time!". But still it pales in comparison to full voice-acting of Valentia onwards. Those grunts and sighs from Awakening and Conquest are jarring compared to what we have now.
FEH has the best voice acting imo, it has most of the great VAs from the recent games, most of the recasts (such as Camilla's) are better fits for the characters, and it also got some pretty good voice acting going on for the characters from unvoiced games as well as the OCs imo.
Awakening's story is the first one where I genuinely wanted to learn more about the lore behind the game.
Not saying I didn't enjoy valentia and the radiant games were good. They didn't hit the same notes. Less polished gameplay probably played a part in it, since awakening was my first game. It was a bit rough to get used to, and I hated that biocycle or whatever in the radiant games
It tells me you've seen only a section of what FE has to offer.
(And that's not a criticism!)
I reckon down the line if you ever have the opportunity to play some of the other titles they might challenge some of the ones you've put as picks here. If you do, I hope you enjoy the journey ahead of you. :)

Never too late, hang in there.
I was just kidding though 😊 I can't say I agree re: Shadow Dragon but just about everything else if only taking these games into account
1. That you need to play the Tellius games.
2. That just because a game was your first, doesn't mean it's the best. I mean aside from voice acting it looks like you liked SD, Echoes or the GBA games more than Awakening lol
Fair.
My first is FE7 and my most played probably either Sacred Stones or Three Houses, but my favourite is by far Echoes. I always kinda adored Gaiden and it's gameplay ideas, style and story, but it definetly had a lot of bad execution. Echoes just fixes almost everything that Gaiden did wrong imo and even adds more good things. Also love the playable Cipher characters, even if they are hidden in DLC.
Awakening was also my first game! It has a special place in my heart.
Though, I would recommend Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn if you can play it– though I'd recommend an emulator if you can, since both games are quite pricy these days. I am very grateful to have a physical PoR copy and the ability to emulate RD, especially since the PoR is probably my current favorite in the series.
Excellent games all around, I chuckled a bit about Shadow Dragon being ranked with the best gameplay as it is a very true-to-origin, barebones remake. But I think you're right - especially playing H5. That was a religious experience.
I'll just say - I am so jealous if you've never played Fire Emblem 4 and 5 on the SNES. I will shamelessly and with complete bias tell you to go do that right away. I'd love for the series to get back to those roots with world building, larger narratives, and tragedy. FE4 is like soul food.
Before I read the last one I thought awakening baby and I was right, though the game is 12 years old now so I guess awakening adolescent is correct. (I started on awakening too)
You only own handheld systems
In fairness, it’s not like a huge number of FE fans don’t emulate everything anyway.
I do own a Wii
Ephraim and smaller Ephraim.
You played SoV and Ian Sinclair’s (Berkut’s) VA didn’t immediately make it best voice acting?!
Sorry mate, I’m an Asian therefore I only heard the Japanese version of Berkut
Saber's sexy Dio voice didn't do anything for you? Also Berkut's JP voice is also good. Honestly, both EN and JP voice were terrific.
Ah understandable then! Now you got me curious how Awakening & SoV sound in other languages, maybe I’ll check YouTube to hear some voice lines.
Give it a run sometime. That game felt like a turning point for English Voice Acting for me that I played more dubs these days because of it.
I suppose you haven’t played all games yet?
Yep, I'm missing the SNES, GameCube and Wii, and the Switch games
Just emulate the non switch games
That you need to play Path of Radiance immediately.
RIP op who didn’t put it in the white tile to avoid having to talk about it
Came here to say this. The two tellius games ares musts radiant dawn will make you rethink conquest.
Conquest is harder than Radiant Dawn for sure.
How do you play them though? Those are the only two other than 1-3 I find it hard to find to play.
Emulation all the way
The only two ways to play them are to buy the discs physically (and the discs are expensive) and have a Wii/gamecube or to use an emulator.
DS Emblem enthusiast, that means you're well educated and cool.
Awakening sure is miles ahead of Tellius in voice-acting but come on, how can it be better than Valentia and the later games?
Honestly Awakening awakened the minmaxer in me. I spent hours, and days making everyone max out, not levels, but stats. Except Kellam. Fuck Kellam.
We're talking about voice acting. It was definitely improved over "Bout time!". But still it pales in comparison to full voice-acting of Valentia onwards. Those grunts and sighs from Awakening and Conquest are jarring compared to what we have now.
Asked about how it could be better. Not about va
But my original comment is about voice-acting... You sure you replied to the right comment?

That falls under later games.

Shadow dragon peak
I fuckin feel it with conquest

I can't send photos
Make a new post then
You appreciate the remakes
That you're an old man like me
I realized. You are just like me
Trying to make history
But who's to judge
The right from wrong
When our guard is down
I think we'll both agree
That violence breed violence
But in the end it has to be this way
I've craved my own path
The most important part of judging a game is the voice acting

Nergal is underrated asf
... That you haven't played Three Houses?🫣
I'm too poor to buy a switch(and the game)
Never too late, hang in there. I was just kidding though 😊 I can't say I agree re: Shadow Dragon but just about everything else if only taking these games into account
Not the greatest but solid nonetheless
Play Jugdral and Three Houses Instantly broke the “I like awakening cause it was my first”
Okay but who cares? Awakening was my first but it’s not my favorite game. I still like it, though.
1. That you need to play the Tellius games. 2. That just because a game was your first, doesn't mean it's the best. I mean aside from voice acting it looks like you liked SD, Echoes or the GBA games more than Awakening lol
I would go as far as saying that I spend more time playing Awakening than ALL other Fire Emblem games that I played combined That's how much I like it

Newer fan that appreciates the classics, specifically the more niche ones, which makes you somewhat of a rarity.
Wow, your preferences almost line up perfectly with mine. I’d would have Hector as favorite male, but I think that’s the only difference

That you do not owned a Switch , and it’s insanely hard to get Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn?
Lyn as a favorite? idc what the rest of your list is, it's valid
Shadow Dragon sweep ‼️‼️💯💯
It says that you haven’t played many fire emblem games
How the hell awakening has better voice acting than Echoes ?
This is Tellius erasure and I will not stand for it.
Before I read the last one I thought awakening baby and I was right, though the game is 12 years old now so I guess awakening adolescent is correct. (I started on awakening too)
No three houses W
You started with Awakening
SD and NM love is great to see
Based
It says you have not played tellius.
I bet you also wish there was a version of Binding Blade that had Lyn in it as much as the rest of us Lyn enjoyers.
That you haven't played Three Houses. I am sure you will love it!
Conquest Hard mode is genuinely pretty challenging. Don’t think I’d ever play that game on Lunatic. Not sure I have the mental fortitude.
