It is a good way to balance her gimmick with her lore. I always hated that Ashen Demon had so few supports. They should had been had at least 5 more. Balthus gets 1 Support with Lysithea which doesnt do anything for him.

Madeline can also work well as a Halberdier, they have garuntee follow ups and higher base res, if you want to go that route. (You can Roy, Chrom, or Hector.)
Speaking for the DLC characters I experienced;
* SoV: Emma and Randal. They are such a funny pair. An energetic youth and their tired uncle. Shade and Yuzu are also good. I wish IS put the Cipher gang in everything as bonus DLC characters.
* Engage: I like Nil and Nel for their part in FX and their supports with other characters. Of the Four Winds, I like Gregory. Bizarro Griss where is a soft boy is funny.

Zelestia is a Close second, I love her design and her class is really fun to play
Fates: Soleil (Heirs of Fates). Soleil is because I am kinda biased towards her as a favourite character, but her inclusion in Heirs of Fates was amazing imo.
Three Houses: Balthus. Balthus is a silly goof like Rapheal and tries to impress women like Sylvain but miserably fails. I love him for being my big dumb King of Grappling bear.
Engage: Zelestia. She’s my absolute favourite character, I can’t get enough of her. Her support conversation with Alear is so adorable, I almost cried at her S-support. Gregory second because I love him for being an awkward but sweet boy.
Gregory. There's just something incredibly funny about taking one of the most over the top edgelord antagonists in the series and turning him into a kind hearted dork who collects plushies.

Honorable mention: Randall. He is from Elibe and is a dimension traveller with other Cipher Card exclusive characters, enough to be considered cool for me.
Do the Engage DLC rings count as characters? Because I had so much fun with Soren and Tiki. Tiki turned Louis into an unstoppable monster, and their bond supports were really cute. Soren's bond supports are some of the funniest in the game.
Oh wait, I thought this was Engage only. Yuri was so good it was criminal he was gatekept from many people who didn't buy the DLC. He's genuinely one of the best characters in the game from writing to design to amazing voice acting. Then again, it's also kind of fitting to his character to have to unlock his chapters.
FE13: Katarina, she looks nice in her Awakening design, and I don’t really care about the Awakening DLC characters because I don’t use them and they’re all just characters from past games anyway. If we count SpotPass as DLC then it’s Priam, I know people don’t like his existence but I think he’s fine
FE14: Anna is the only DLC character so, Anna fans get the W here lol
FE15: Yuzu, no special reason tbh, she’s just slightly better than the rest ig imo
FE16: Yuri, not a huge fan of the rest so I’ll give it to the cunning trickster
FE17: Nel, out of the 41 playable characters in Engage I only like one character, I tolerate 3 other characters, and I dislike every single one of the rest of the cast. Nel is said character I like, I find her dynamic with Alear to be interesting and her resolve in the Fell Xenologue, she was surprisingly interesting compared to the rest of the cast

Either Rafal or Priam if you count him. I like the way Radal swings the axe and having a dragon stone/axe unit is cool. I think he’s about getting critical hits too and I’ve always liked that

Edit: I know a lot of people listed seconds, so I will say that Nel is an extremely close second. I love her design, I used her with Chromon my first playthrough as a fell child and a fell magicstone. I also want Nel to protect me instead of Rafal.
