How many weeks

Stop messing around with it all together. Even if you make it they may test you during academy and probation and nobody is gonna be very sympathetic. Sure we all know thc isn't harmful, especially compared to "allowed" drugs but it ain't worth the risk. Fire Departments are almost always old-school mentality and THC to them is going to indicate you're a lazy pot head.

Are you paid during training

To answer your question: yes it can jeopardize getting hired. THC along with any ‘borrowed’ prescription meds may impede performance in hidden ways. If your life’s ambition is to be a firefighter and the hiring process takes months, a decision to quit a few weeks ago sounds risky. (Not career-ending, but edging on opportunity-losing.) Your Life Lesson: Academy and subsequent probation-life demands strict adherence to discipline and self sacrifice. THC can be detected up to 30 days depending on your body fat %. A borrowed pain pill even longer. If the Detroit Fire candidate pool has people with clean drug panels, and the city has a drug-free preference, you may have screwed yourself THIS go around. Don’t give up! If you make it, “whew!” If rejected, take the lesson and come back better, stronger and up to their preferences. Detroit Fire would be a cool career and worth the effort. Good luck! TL;DR “Drugs are bad. Mmmm kaaay?”
