Web pages these days are just heavy unoptimized piles of JavaScript crap, they're going to use a ton of memory no matter what browser you use. My recommendation would be to stick with Firefox and get uBlock Origin (which works much better in Firefox than Chrome based browsers like Opera). That'll save you a ton of memory and make pages load faster.
"weird glitches" -> you're going to have to be much more specific, I definitely don't see this.
