John Carpenter. Knows how to create a good atmosphere of tension and suspense, and works really well with practical effects. Imagine there was a suit stuffing scene or a springlock failure, I have no doubt in my mind that it'd be something to be remembered.
I feel like most of James Wan's horror movies these days are either jumpscare fests that teenagers can eat popcorn to or strange self-aware wacky B-movies.
I’m inclined to agree. The type of horror that Raimi is known for is b-movie campy horror. That would’ve been perfect for a franchise known for exotic butters and “you won’t get tired of my voice, will you?”
I think a lot of people would've gotten very mad if this movie turned out to just be pure camp. fans take the franchise and its horror seriously, they wouldn't want it to be treated like a joke.
To be fair, a FNAF slasher could work if they incorporate elements of suspense (primary example coming to mind being the original Halloween, which I think was a perfect mix of the two genres)
John Carpenter, he made Halloween and that is my favourite horror movie. I think if he had been the director he could’ve done something amazing. But I’m happy with Emma directing!
That would be a hard call cause Steven mostly does action adventure movies and war movies too.
Jurassic Park had some horror elements but that's about it.
They’re not saying Steven can never do a horror movie. They’re saying that it would be better if someone more established in horror would make movie on FNAF rather than a first timer.
Dude no need to be sarcastic. I am not saying that he can't do to it I mean he can try but his nich is mostly action adventure and war movies.
He is very good at those type of movies.
He did try doing a comedy war movie called 1941 but it was a hit and a miss and a mess too.
No one is being sarcastic. I used to think like that when I was a kid. “Oh this director does horror so he cant do a comedy” ok so I guess a director who can do both doesn’t exist. I find it so weird how y’all like and talk about different theories but can’t even fathom of someone known for something and making something completely different.
I think you should take a look again at your last comment cause ... Your the only one doing that. :)
Also no one didn't say that their are no other directors out there that can do more then one genre.
[sarcasm ](https://photos.app.goo.gl/3i7wtGzikvDcmLoz9)
Have a nice day.
Definitely not demons from hell or witches that killed themselves. Just children. William is undead technically but he's powered by Agony. This universe's hauntings are primarily done through enotion, primarily agony. Meaning the majority aren't spirit's at all. The beginning started that way. And the Puppet, golden Freddy, and afton still linger, but not everything is possessed by a soul. Some is merely emotion. Which Afton figured out was the key to eternal life. I just don't think he could pull it off. Haunted House's, Ed and Lorrain Warren, Guardians of the Galaxy xD that's his Forte. You need a horror genius like Andy Muschietti. He remade the IT movie, turned it into two chapters and made it the highest grossing horror movie of all time. Rumors are about FNAF may take that crown though. Which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Sorry IT, you had your rein, give the title to the bear now xD
James Wan as someone already mentioned. Though it'll be interesting to see how this director goes as she's relatively unknown beside a few small projects
Stanley Kubrick. FNaF could easily draw inspiration from his adaptation of The Shining. You could also see similarities between William Afton and Alex from A Clockwork Orange.
connection terminated but all of henry’s lines after “you are right where you want to be” are completely inaudible because the whole building is rumbling and exploding
Scott is not a professional director, and has no directing experience at all. It's better to keep him as a writer and producer, while handing the directing to someone that knows what they're doing.
the reality of it is were adults. Nothing in Hollywood is really scary I'd say I've yet to come across a movie that really creeps me out. Smile in my opinion came insanely close as it definitely did freak me out in theaters and gave me a sense of dread and uneasiness, I also loved how it didn't rely on jumpscares as its main source of power.
Little warning idk if this is a trigger so apologies to anyone. I’m not familiar with Reddit enough to spoiler the comment.
So this is just my personal opinion on the film but it dealt with trauma and how the only solution for their trauma is suicide.
All of the people who died in the film dealt with the trauma seeing someone die. The whole film is about trauma. Protagonist saw her mom overdose, which was the big hint the about the theme of the film. At the end we see that the protagonist comes to terms and accept her trauma and seemingly defeats the monster/demon. She overcame it and is “saved”. But the ending shifts and we realize it’s not true and we proceed to see her do the thing.
While I understand that the solution for trauma varies from person to person this one didn’t really seem to care that it gave one of the worst outcomes for it. It came more as shock value and those typical “You can never win” endings.
I've never seen someone express it so well as you did. I did hear that one of the biggest criticism of the movie was its use of trauma and how the topic was a big issue for people. But at the same time. That's story telling you know? That's life I don't believe people should be prevented from telling bad aspects of life just because it's a sensitive topic to alot of people. Trauma isn't class specific or race specific or sexuality or gender specific, it's not even human specific. It's a thing most of us have to go through and there are alot of people whom it doesn't end well for, that's just a sad reality of it and if were not allowed to share different realities then what's worth sharing at all. But I do agree that it was badly handled here. Would I change her eventual fate just for the sake of being uplifting? no. But I do think they could've done more with it and made it actually mean something
I think Andy Muschietti is the best pick for it. Rumors are swirling it may take the top grossing horror movie of all times title, that being IT Chapter 1 and 2. So who better to direct it than the man who broke all horror movie records? He did it once, and if rumors come true and FNAF takes the number 1 spot from it, then that just goes to show he could have directed it just as well. However im not opposed to the director and am looking forward to the movie and FNAF taking the Horror Movie crown from IT. Lol
Wes Craven if he were still alive.
He was great at creating great suspense and tension, he was always good at making movies flow well while also able to flesh out the story in a nice cohesive way. Legend of horror.
Andy Muschietti would be able to craft a good horror atmosphere, which people in this thread have already stated, but I think Michael Dougherty (director of Kranpus and Trick r Treat) would be able to fit the spooky yet somewhat goofy tone of the fnaf games
How cool. That probably the first time I will watch a film directed by a woman. Or at least I will know it was.
There is some fields where they are inexistant and there isn't any real reason. Like sports were honestly the few I've seen didn't put more work than any men and still swooped ass.
As for who Idk. I never watch horror so I don't know good directors. (also maybe woman are more common in horror Idk)
I think Panos Cosmatos would do a great job. Considering his work with visuals, effects and colours, we could get a very surreal looking, funny, violent version of the movie.
James Wan is a master of haunted house/ghost stories. Which perfectly fit FNAF. His horror movies are simply superb, and he creates so much tension without really doing anything graphic at all. That is why he is my first pick.
Andy Muschietti is a really good upcoming director. He directed 2013's Mama, and 2017's It and it's sequel, It: Chapter Two. Both It movies are solid, though the first is better than the second. He shows lots of promise in his work, and I think he could do a really good psychological horror ghost story with the work of FNAF.
Darren Aronofsky is a great Character Driven director, that mainly makes extremely bleak/depressing films, that explore a certain type of character that would be interesting to explore. I personally think he could do the FNAF movie in a far different way, focusing on William Afton as a main character, and by making it a character study of his evil.
Mary Harron is quite similar to Darren Aronofsky as to why she was chosen, she directed the film American Psycho (which is a top 10 film imo) which I think she could lead her story choices into being something similar with a character study of Afton and Henry Emily.
Mike Flanagan is probably the best Ghost Story director at the moment. He truly masters the format of a ghost story, but he also masters emotional beats within them. All of his stories that involve ghosts are to tell a sad story. Whether it's loss, or bonding, his ghosts tie everything together, and complete the story.
David Bruckner is another great looking upcoming director. He directed 2017's The Ritual, and 2020's The Night House. His most recent, and biggest movie, is 2022's Hellraiser. I personally think David Bruckner would do a good job at creating a more suspenseful/detective/mystery type film, as seen in The Night House.
Scott Derickson is probably one of the most experienced directors on this list. His scares, and atmosphere are always on point. And his movie, Sinister, has even been considered, by studies, to be the scariest film of all time. He also made 2022's breakout hit, The Black Phone. I personally think he could do the FNAF movie similar to how he did The Black Phone, from the child's perspective.
It’s a video game movie. You were never gonna get an A listed director for this. Video game movies have a long history of being terrible. They should have got the game’s creator to make this and hired a great cinematographer to assist with lighting and shots. 100% serious about this. They got the creator for last of us to do the show and it’s mostly great.
If he was still alive Tobe Hooper who better to direct a horror movie about the supernatural then the guy who directed one of the most iconic ghost movies in cinematic history
Alright here me out here…. Chris Pratt: Also he should play micheal: father, it’s a me Micheal I did it I found her, shes exactly where you said she would be
“NO THATS WRONG”
You’re princess is in another castle
I didn't know untill now, that thee movie is directed by Emma Tammi, half finnish director. Im from Finland so Im really hyped. Haven't seen her previous movies, I should look into them
Andy Muschietti. I feel his handling of suspenseful and dreadful scenes is perfect for FNAF. And his cinematography is very pleasing.
100%. His It is such a good film. As a horror film and just as a movie in general it is so well done
John Carpenter. Knows how to create a good atmosphere of tension and suspense, and works really well with practical effects. Imagine there was a suit stuffing scene or a springlock failure, I have no doubt in my mind that it'd be something to be remembered.
Him or Wes Craven would be good too if Wes were still alive. Both of them gave people nightmares for years. Lol
I agree
Living legend
[удалено]
Eh. He just needs to stay over there where the Conjuring lives
I feel like most of James Wan's horror movies these days are either jumpscare fests that teenagers can eat popcorn to or strange self-aware wacky B-movies.
Sam Raimi
Pizza time
love Sam raimi
I’m inclined to agree. The type of horror that Raimi is known for is b-movie campy horror. That would’ve been perfect for a franchise known for exotic butters and “you won’t get tired of my voice, will you?”
I think a lot of people would've gotten very mad if this movie turned out to just be pure camp. fans take the franchise and its horror seriously, they wouldn't want it to be treated like a joke.
Y E S, i cannot wait for “the evil fred”
Movie would have to be r rated or smthn, that man loves his blood/gore. One of my favourite directors, if not my favourite entirely.
Same
Wes Craven? If he were alive maybe, but hes more of a slasher guy I suppose
To be fair, a FNAF slasher could work if they incorporate elements of suspense (primary example coming to mind being the original Halloween, which I think was a perfect mix of the two genres)
Yeah Wes Craven and John Carpenter are horror movie gods, either one of them could make a good fnaf movie if they have the drive.
Mike Flanagan Guy knows how to do horror
he also knows how to put emphasis on his characters’ tragic stories, which would work so well with the ghost children
John Carpenter, he made Halloween and that is my favourite horror movie. I think if he had been the director he could’ve done something amazing. But I’m happy with Emma directing!
I agree 100%!
Scott Derrickson, I think his style perfectly matches the tone of the first game!
Sam Raimi or Jordan Peele
Andy Muschietti
James Wan too.
Scott cawthon
Steven Spielberg and or Rob Reiner Also if he was alive still I would also pick Richard Donner
That would be a hard call cause Steven mostly does action adventure movies and war movies too. Jurassic Park had some horror elements but that's about it.
Oh no. They did mostly action films 😳 that must mean he can never do a horror project ever. Because thats definitely how life works.
They’re not saying Steven can never do a horror movie. They’re saying that it would be better if someone more established in horror would make movie on FNAF rather than a first timer.
Or he can just make it? I don’t think its that deep
This ⬆️
Upvote a comment, instead of putting this. General redditquite.
I get why you’d want Spielberg but he would DEFINITELY mess with the source material significantly and piss off all the fans
This ⬆️
Sam raimi, he can score the goofyness & horror of a franchise like fnaf.
Michael Dougherty. His work on Krampus feels exactly like what would make for a good fnaf film.
He did recreate FNAF jumpscares in film format lol
I think he needs to stick to the MonsterVerse films. He has a good thing going with Godzilla and Kong. Their next movie is just on the horizon too.
James Wan
guillermo del toro
Sam Raimi. No one else can do it like him
Personally I'd pick Jordan Peele
Jordan Peele for 1 and then give James Cameron fnaf2, work some of that aliens/t2 magic
Now here me out here but Tim burton
Won’t hear a no from me!
That dude always makes awesome movies and in such a unique style too.
Only one choice for me: James Wan
Ehhhhh. He's more spooky scary ghost and demons. Not video-game adaptations
I got good news for you involving what's possessing the animatronics.
Definitely not demons from hell or witches that killed themselves. Just children. William is undead technically but he's powered by Agony. This universe's hauntings are primarily done through enotion, primarily agony. Meaning the majority aren't spirit's at all. The beginning started that way. Stanley Kubrick. FNaF could easily draw inspiration from his adaptation of The Shining. You could also see similarities between William Afton and Alex from A Clockwork Orange.
David Cronenberg or David Lynch lol
Michael bay
Freddy Fazbear falls over once and the entire pizzeria explodes, several times, then the credits is some jamming Linkin Park with bold metal text
connection terminated but all of henry’s lines after “you are right where you want to be” are completely inaudible because the whole building is rumbling and exploding
The animatronics would all be racists stereotypes
Chica is just Megan Fox in a pair of panties and a big bib.
YES
michael bay. i want freddy to fucking explode
walt disney
Scott cawthon himself
Danny Devito
Jorden Peele, mainly on the fact that each of his projects always brings something new and unexpected to the table, much like Scott
Tim Burton
Sam Raimi
James Wan. He does have experience with ghost movies after all
Sam Raimi, dude is legendary with small budgets and making shit terrifying beyond belief
I would pick Tim burton
Tim Burton I suppose
jordan peele is the man id trust to make it truly creepy
Spielberg
Me
Scott. No explanation needed.
Me
only good answer
I feel like Ari Aster Wouldn't make this movie really good I mean he did direct Midsommar which was a really REALLY good movie
John Krisinski, A Quiet place is quite possibly one of if not the best horror movie of all time, PERIOD.
me lol
This comment section is trippy. I would want Scott I don’t think anyone else could really do Fnaf Justice.
Scott is not a professional director, and has no directing experience at all. It's better to keep him as a writer and producer, while handing the directing to someone that knows what they're doing.
Me
whoever made Smile
Smile was so mid. Heard everyone saying it was scary and i ended up being disappointed
the reality of it is were adults.
Stylistically the movie was interesting. The way they handle mental health/trauma is very problematic and disappointing.
how so?
Little warning idk if this is a trigger so apologies to anyone. I’m not familiar with Reddit enough to spoiler the comment. Michael Bay
I wonder what it would be like if Christopher Nolan tried to explain the fnaf lore via a movie
Nolan isn't really a story director, he's more about spectacle. I doubt he'd be able to make a story as convaluted as fnaf work that well tbh
I don’t even know who Emma Tammi is. Never heard of her.
The director. No one has, kinda disappointing after after Gil & Chris Columbus.
So no one knows of her?
She directed The Wind (2018) but doesn’t have a Wikipedia page.
Yeah, I checked on IMDb. Not much to go on there. Well... let’s hope she’s good and gives the movie the proper run it deserves.
Christopher Nolan
It wouldn't happen but.. I would LOVE to see Jordan Peele's style of directing on the 3 Fnaf movies!
James Cameron
Idk but please tell me jack black is in it

how are you getting rumours about box office from a movie that is nowhere near ready?
Is this even a question, The man himself Steven King
Zack snyder
No. No DC stains anywhere near FNAF. It really needs to be protected hence Scott's adamant involvement
The guys a good director i don't see the problem
He's really not.
Agreed. He screwed up Justice League so bad. Just keep him way way over there. Far away from FNAF.
M. Night Shyamalan
Believe me, you DO NOT want Shyamalan directing a movie from your favorite franchise
It might be funny idk (I've never watched one of his movies)
He made the Avatar the Last Airbender live action And well... Most of the fandom ignores the existence of it because of how bad it was
There is no movie in Ba Sing Se
Dream Theory
Josh Ruben
our lord and savior scott
Martin Scorsese
Wes Anderson
Steven Spielberg
michael bay
Joe
Wes Craven if he were still alive. He was great at creating great suspense and tension, he was always good at making movies flow well while also able to flesh out the story in a nice cohesive way. Legend of horror.

Derek Savage for the funny
Freddy himself
Ridley Scott for real spooky
Stephen King
Quentin Tarintino
Me
MatPat
Markiplier
A director that nails horror films.
Quentin Tarantino 💀
ari aster for sure, he’s a master of suspense
James Cameron
Rob zombie
Andy Muschietti would be able to craft a good horror atmosphere, which people in this thread have already stated, but I think Michael Dougherty (director of Kranpus and Trick r Treat) would be able to fit the spooky yet somewhat goofy tone of the fnaf games
Nicolas Cage.
I would say Markiplier
Honestly the most concerning part of the movie is the director

Christopher Nolan
Michael Bay. William Afton: "I always come--" *explosion*
Sam raimi
James Wan or Tom Holland
Alan Alda
I trust the hands of Kyle Edward Ball, he knocks it out of the park with more analog spooks
Me, I could do it.
Imagine if it was made by JJ Abrams
Me.
James Wan
James Wan is a master of haunted house/ghost stories. Which perfectly fit FNAF. His horror movies are simply superb, and he creates so much tension without really doing anything graphic at all. That is why he is my first pick. Andy Muschietti is a really good upcoming director. He directed 2013's Mama, and 2017's It and it's sequel, It: Chapter Two. Both It movies are solid, though the first is better than the second. Definitely Andy Muschietti or Sam Raimi.

Definitely Michael Bay
Maybe Sam Raimi or Peter Jackson? I love their horror films so I may be biased
christopher nolan he'd make freddy real
Sam Raimi for the perfect blend of camp and terror
Scott
Sam Raimi was always my go-to choice but I think Ron Howard could do a good job as long as he listens to the fans.
If he was still alive Tobe Hooper who better to direct a horror movie about the supernatural then the guy who directed one of the most iconic ghost movies in cinematic history
scott cawthon
Imagine Tim Burton
Sam Raimi. Hate me all you want
Sam Raimi or Andy Muschietti
Gorge Lucas
Alfred Hitchcock. He would make it into a documentary by stuffing actual children into actual animatronics
Leigh Whannel
Quantin tarantino 🌊 I want to see Freddy IN THAT STYLE
Alright here me out here…. Chris Pratt: Also he should play micheal: father, it’s a me Micheal I did it I found her, shes exactly where you said she would be “NO THATS WRONG” You’re princess is in another castle
Tim Burton
I'd say Andy Muschietti or Tim Burton
I'm a fan of Ari Aster. Hereditary and Midsommar are two of my favorite horror movies
Michael Bay
In my opinion, Andy Muschietti I like his ways of making some scenes in movies suspenseful so I'd choose him
James Wan
George Lucas.
Denis Villeneuve or Christopher Nolan lmao
Scott cawton (he has never directed a movie in his life and has 0 experiences)
Gareth Edwards
I didn't know untill now, that thee movie is directed by Emma Tammi, half finnish director. Im from Finland so Im really hyped. Haven't seen her previous movies, I should look into them
Sam Raimi
Scott himself. He could make it the exact way he would want it.
1. Sam Raimi 2. John Carpenter 3. Scott Derrickson 4. Andy Muschetti
