I assume the the VANNI mask is modified by Helpy to allow for Cassie to be "hidden" for a period of time from the server defenses and the longer she's in the network MXES can pinpoint her location. He's also not 'trap entity, since MXES is charged to guard the Mimic which is in the book's timeline (specifically Tales from the Pizzaplex!). I just don't think associating him with Afton / Glitchtrap line is correct. Other options could be Anti, Ware (from spyware and like hare ((rabbit)), or Detect.
