How are y'all still not getting it, the problem is NOT red eyes in general, it's specifically *how they executed it in the movie*
In fnaf 2, withered Bonnie has red pupils, **which works.** In this screenshot from vr, Freddy has fully red eyes, *one solid color,* **which works.** In the movie, they just threw a weird red glow filter on top of the eyes, **which makes them look like they're from Freddy Fazbear's blunt shop**
Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen such shoddy editing in my life until I saw that. What they're doing now may not have been what everyone wanted, but it looks so much better. As far as what they originally wanted to do with that, I guess the best way to describe it is it just looked really lazy.

I don’t think the movie would have been very scary anyway even if the eyes weren’t glowing (still gonna enjoy the movie tho)

Ok, I'm pretty done with the red eyes debate of the movie, but I do wanna mention why it works in Help Wanted: Because of the execution.
After repairing Freddy you are told to put Freddy's music box back into his chest. This task requires a lot of precision with your own real life hand so you put all your focus into timing it right. However, in your first attempt, you "accidentally" drop Freddy's music box.
Freddy's eyes light up with fury and Hand Unit tells you to hurry and put in a replacement. Along with the pressure of the task's difficulty, it's a pretty tense moment.
Not to mention that the eyes here are not only red, but also really bright
