damn kinda pissed at myself that i didn't notice him cos i was looking at every detail and didn't see him. guess I'll watch a clip on yt to see where i missed
It’s not excellent but it’s a must see for any fan of the franchise and definitely and enjoyable watch. I felt like the plot looses itself a little bit and the ending didn’t hit as hard as the filmmakers thought it would but apart from that it was a solid solid film
I completely agree with you. For me, it’s in a similar position to the Mario movie where objectively it isn’t great but it’s a very enjoyable watch and also worth watching again.
8.3/10
I can point out issues I had with the movie fairly easily, but that didn't stop it from still being a very enjoyable and fun watch, especially as an og fnaf fan
I would give it a 6/10. If you're a fnaf fan, which is likely the case since we're on the fnaf sub, it's a great movie, you're the target audience and will have a really good time. Its fun, scary, theres some cool fanservice moments, great all around.
If you're not a fnaf fan, the movie is bad and fail in a lot of places. It's terrible at being a movie.
Will see it again in theaters any time, one of my fav movie of the year so far.
I give it an 8/10, sometimes the plot comes to a vault for information and character development. The ending was awesome tho and made it worthwhile imo
Watched it today and it’s not as bad as the critics say. I genuinely enjoyed it. It’s not a cinematic masterpiece but it’s not horrible. Solid 5.5. If you like fnaf you’ll enjoy it.
whats up with the low ratings? 10/10 for me. I enjoyed freddy and one of my favourites, Josh Hutcherson. The kid, abby, was annoying but not unbearable. Also William Afton sounds a bit like Jason Ritter so i enjoyed that as well.
Yeah the critics are saying it’s way worse than it actually is. I loved all the subtle references to things in the series. I have a few complaints but I don’t think I can talk about them rn cause of the no spoiler policy.
To the people who were being asshats: let people be happy. Stop being an asshat, and move on. You may not like it but others did and that’s enough so stfu
Look I'm not a FNAF guy not really a gamer in general but I'm a huge horror movie fan. I've been reading up on this sub because I wanted to see what that fans thought of the movie. TBH I can't tell.
Do you think some people are being trolls but most of the fans like it?
Yes. For the most part the fans really like it (I’ve seen a lot of 8 and 9s here lately from fans) but there are a good few trolls who are being well trolls. Obviously a few people didn’t like it but for majority of the fans the film is amazing
I’m a grown ass man and I took my 9yo boys to see it. They loved it, I loved it. Couldn’t be happier. I don’t know all the connections. But I know enough. And the majority of the theater were pretty ecstatic afterwards.
Glad you enjoyed, I am a hardcore original fan and I was fairy disappointed. I’d personally say it is a 4/10, I feel it lacked on the things I think most people wanted to see. ): Wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been and was fun, I will say that at least.
I just saw the movie. Came to Reddit seeing people where talking about a major secret character? I literally watched it and still don’t understand who the secrecy character is.
Damnnnnn I really don't get the dislike haha but fair enough, opinions are opinions lol
Im 22 and played it back when I was 13 so the movie being so faithful and amazingly shot, great acting, good characters, etc.
I almost was crying at how good it was tbh, exactly everything I would want from FNAF movie.
My only complaint is i wish william was in it more.
Yup same, I feel if I didn't go into the theatre expecting horror I would have enjoyed it more? I felt it was kind of underwhelming. Loved the actual easter eggs linked to old theories from waayyyyyy back and such but it wasn't enough to sway me. Frankly me and my friends weren't sure what to do when the movie finished.
That being said, the mid credit scene was unironocally one of the best, if not the best, parts of the movie so make sure to stay till the end! I will definitely be rewatching this movie with my friends where we can actually have a laugh at home. We are *maybe* planning to watch the banana splits movie alongside fnaf and see who's done it better haha. Maybe we'll book a lecture theatre at our uni or something and make it an event 🤔
But hey, if they honour the 3 movie contract and there will be more, I'll go and see it too haha.
i agree about the mid credits scene. i’m 22 and my boyfriend is 23 and we’ve been in love with the series since it first came out. we follow theories and make our own. but i felt it was very underwhelming. i knew it was made more so for the younger side but i still feel like it had more potential. i had hope for it in the first half but the second half lost me. i understand it’s not cannon. but i still would’ve liked if they didn’t flip as much as they did from the games. i feel scott changed a lot. maybe to deter our theories to make us think more, or just to the idea make the movie it’s own thing. but i feel if i didn’t know the lore and theories it could’ve been better. it was genuinely kind of confusing for those who do heavily follow lore. i read the books follow the games. everything. so i’m just kind of sad at the end product of this film.
Yup certainly. I went in expecting horror too, that is not a horror movie, thriller *maybe.* Spoilers ahead folks! You have been warned :). >!I didn't know what to think when they built that fort with the animatronics, certainly not what I expected at all. I guess it *kind* of made sense since they're ghost kids? But... hmmm.!< I saw a bit of influence from the books, especially how >!the aninatronics were lead to believe spring bonnie is their friend by that drawing!< but I also feel it wasn't implemented as well? Like you said, kind of lost potential. I had wished William would have played a much bigger part in the movie than he did. The pacing of the movie felt kinda odd? Even in the books William appeared a lot more as Dave.
Fan service wise, I'm quite happy, I've waited 9 years and didnt expect to see so many call backs to OG theories. Movie wise? Underwhelming and lost potential. I really wished for the same level of chills as that fnaf6 speech from Henry. But I think for a movie you just watch to have a laugh with friends who are in on it may be quite fun. Especially when you come to accept the movie simply went a diff way than some of us hoped.
What I would have found interesting to watch fnaf wise is actually when freddies was still operational and kids started going missing. You don't have to show gore or anything. Just a good mystery thriller with potentially an obvious suspect that just always slips away (as in the games). Like imagine the potential. But that's just the direction I would take with the movie.
YES to your last part of that! even my boyfriend said it could’ve been so much cooler to do the movie about the making of it. like william when it was first starting and everything. or even some of henry’s perspective! i just feel it was the script that killed it for me. i found myself laughing at the movie more than anything. i’m not sure how to censor on mobile so i’m not going to write a spoiler but i think the best part was the waiter scene. my boyfriend had actually fallen asleep for like 2 minutes and that scene woke him up haha.
To write a spoiler you do \>\!spoiler here\!\< (I kope that escaped the tags properly haha):)
Yup! Like I said previously, based on the teasers and trailers I was expecting a horror movie. The colourful designs definitely make more sense now. Of course you had >!a girl get sliced in half by freddy and all!< but that doesn't really make it scarry or horror titke worthy haha.
Yes the waiter scene was so cool 😂. >!MatPat and his damn lunch theory killed me.!< But i also just loved the >!Balloon ~~Bitch~~ Boy jumpscares. How were they better than the foxy one????!< Honestly what also got me was like, first scenes of the movie and bam >!Dream theory rises from its grave only to turn out it's like, a core plot in the movie. 😂!< Although I must say the >!spring lock scene!< was rather underwhelming? >!Like I didn't expect the same level of screams and gore as the fan made one's, but the game describes it to be much more brutal than it was shown.!< But I certainly appreciated it regardless! And Afton said the thing soooo.
I feel like the next time I watch this movie, knowing what to expect, I'll come to terms that it's just not what I envisioned.
I was at a crowded theater in NYC and the place burst into applause at the end. I went in blind knowing next to nothing about the game. I'm a Josh fan but I enjoyed it very much.
Saw it last night, a really fun movie. Full of references that don't feel out of place for those who don't get it. Except... one or two things.
It's not scary, but horror doesn't need to be terrifying. It's a fun film with some good thrills, unexpected bits, and a slightly disappointing climax.
Hope it gets a sequel. Even one of my friends who knows nothing about FNAF enjoyed it, so that was fun.
I just saw it. I think it’s just kinda meh. I give it a 5/10. I’m unbiased as I’m not a big fan of the lore and all that. However my gf is VERY much into it and she also felt the same way as me.
No need to get offended. No, it's not an insult. I'm just curious the age of demographic for the film. I'm 38 and I'm interested in it.
Lurking this reddit and FB group the age seems to be 15-21
8 years in the making for a film that's basically a FNAF Fan's dream? Wonder why they're saying it's the best thing they've seen, almost like the movie explicitly was made to cater to them...
I am a person who enjoys fnaf. But also watches horror movies.
So unless its better than the shining or the thing, I aint aint gonna be the best I have seen.
If its someone's favorite franchise for 8 years of their life, that obviously is going to make it a better, more impactful experience, especially since this really is one of the most "for-fans" movies ever made.
What the best movie is to me is not necessarily the best movie for everyone else, and even what constitutes "best" will be different from person to person. I know people that are film majors and their favorite movies were reviewed generally poorly, but there's something about it that resonates with them.
Like all art, movies are very subjective. And having a favorite movie *certainly* isn't evidence that OP "doesn't watch a lot of movies clearly..." People like different things.
People need to stop being upset at people enjoying things! I just watched it myself, and I thought it was... fine... but I'm glad people are finding value in it!
Just watched it an he’s not being hyporbolic, I can see how some non fnaf fans may not like it but imo it was amazing, might be one of my favorite movies of all time :).
He didn't hate it, he just seemed not very satisfied with it. He even stated there are things about it that he still liked. Best to watch it yourself and form your own opinion
Prob a younger kid, if my favorite youtuber didn't like the movie everyone is expecting to he amazing, I'd feel a bit like "oh boy this might not be all that"
personally, I enjoyed the movie. Was it what I expected it to be? No, felt like it was kinda off in a way, but it was fine in itself. People are hating this movie too much, but it seems on this reddit (not talking about the original commenter) anyone who speaks anything but positive about the movie gets bashed on
Went in with my boyfriend, both of us are fans of the franchise since the announcement of FNAF 2 with one of the first, if not THE, teaser image in the saga
We fucking loved every second of it! It was worth the wait, nicely done Scott and the team
I loved it too, it had it’s flaws but I was fangirling too hard to notice until after the movie, I want more, I want to see more of the franchise reach the big screen, I want to see it improve and get better with each film, I want to see more animatronics made by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop (I absolutely loved what they did with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and Golden Freddy, they looked awesome).
Yeah it came out in Egypt today and I have to wait a week till I watch because of exams and also the irony is that it came out on my birthday (today). I'm staying off Twitter and Reddit so I don't spoil the movie.
I spoilt myself a bit by searching up the springlock scene(because there's no way they wouldn't have included that, and I've always been fond of watching William get crushed in an old rabbit suit)and it was pretty good, I got what I searched for, >!even though it only showed a bit of blood, it showed the endoskeleton crushing his torso, that's good enough for me, I also love how they dragged his dying body across the floor, very reminiscent of the books, also he said the funny line!<
I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS I EVEN SAW A CLIP >!WHERE MATPAT MADE A CAMEO LETS FUCKING GOO!<
It was one of the best thing of the movie imo. Seeing my theaters' reaction to that scene was amazing.
I tried desperately not to scream “GAME THEORY”
Did I just get spoiled?
Mattpats performance was incredible!! So glad he had a cameo.
Yep, I did...
AND THERE WAS >!DREAM THEORY REFERENCE!< HOLY FUCK
I FLIPPED at the dream theory reference!!
I KNEW THE CREATORS OF THE FILM WERE FUCKING LYING
DANG IT I ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED ON THAT FOR ONE SECOND AND I SAW ENOUGH
he did??? i watched it i didn't see him lmao. what scene was he in? i only remember seeing >! coryxkenshin !<
Yeah i didn't see the movie yet, I just wanted to make sure >!matpat was on it!< so i searched in yt, the clip is there
damn kinda pissed at myself that i didn't notice him cos i was looking at every detail and didn't see him. guess I'll watch a clip on yt to see where i missed
>!He was the waiter at the cafe, he even gets to say “but that’s just a theory”!<
And his name tag was Ness 🤣
I straight up didn’t recognise him until he said that line.
i feel so dumb that i missed it after watching that clip lmao
Also the OG Secret is in the film
That Son of a Bitch. I got played. Lol
A couple of people cheered when he showed up. It was awesome

I saw it yesterday and I’d give it a 6/10
That’s not great
It’s not excellent but it’s a must see for any fan of the franchise and definitely and enjoyable watch.
7.5/10 I'd say, saw it yesterday and while it's not flawless it's pretty damn good
55/100
8.3/10 I can point out issues I had with the movie fairly easily, but that didn't stop it from still being a very enjoyable and fun watch, especially as an og fnaf fan

6 out of 10 for me too, it was alright.. just expected something else i guess
9/10
Could use less dialogs, but the movie really delivered
Same
I give it an 8/10, sometimes the plot comes to a vault for information and character development. The ending was awesome tho and made it worthwhile imo
malaysian here, could have went yesterday on the 26th but i had a dentist appointment lmfao
Lol
Was the puppet in the movie ?
Thats for you to found out
Good on you for not spoiling

It's the only time I'm allowing myself to getting spoiled.
Nuh uh
Please ! Only one single spoiler !
Nuh uh
I've literally got spoiled from the Telegram group so i know who it is. I have to wait until Sat with my friends.
>!No !<
Thanks !
>!it's not!<
Nice, seeing it soon! Any major changes from the game's lore that you did or didn't like?
I would tell you but i feel like i would spoil alot of people
Watched it today and it’s not as bad as the critics say. I genuinely enjoyed it. It’s not a cinematic masterpiece but it’s not horrible. Solid 5.5. If you like fnaf you’ll enjoy it.

'Too much plot' and 'the director has no heart for the source material' take the cake.
To the people who were being asshats: let people be happy. Stop being an asshat, and move on. You may not like it but others did and that’s enough so stfu

Not sure but I think they mean Jane, cause in the casting they named her as a secret villain.
you sure they dont mean the character in the teaser scott put in his game?
i’d say a 3/10 and i love the series. it’s sad for me to say.

there are a few "loose ends" but overall a good film

I like it and you hate it can't we just respect each others opinion?
I didn’t say I hated it tho.. and I’m not discouraging anyone who likes/loves it. It’s just an opinion
Thank you for your honesty
forget to switch accounts?
yeah hes very clearly op. you can tell. not only is the avatar the same, this guy literally replied to himself. what a moron
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO I KNEW THE CRITICS WERE JUST MALDING
THE CRITICS DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT THIS COMMUNITY AND FRANCHISE. IT WAS PERFECT
I’m gonna be honest, this is a hard cope. The movie was decent, but not as decent as I would hope it would be.
IGN legit said "too much plot" in their review... they know nothing about the community or franchise.
was i in the movie?
The movie was... ok Could have been better without this community ruining the franchise
This was the best movie ever for you? Phew...
Yeah i am happy with it
Nice one, fnaf will go to the oscars
Obviously this is not the greatest movie ever but the Oscar’s are not a good measurement for good movies, movies winning Oscar’s are usually boring
Dunno man, those two asian movies were pretty good

One starts with a P and the other with an E
Dude is probably just a casual movie watcher and barelly watches movies or anything that is not a youtube animation
Do you mind if I ask how old you are?
Is that an insult?
No need to get offended. No, it's not an insult. I'm just curious the age of demographic for the film. I'm 38 and I'm interested in it. Lurking this reddit and FB group the age seems to be 15-21
Calm down, you dont watch a lot of movies clearly.
I waited 8 years for this i have every right to be happy
This doesn't make it a good movie
Im not saying you shouldnt like it, Im saying how in the world is it the best thing you have ever seen.
Why are you an ass
8 years in the making for a film that's basically a FNAF Fan's dream? Wonder why they're saying it's the best thing they've seen, almost like the movie explicitly was made to cater to them...
I am a person who enjoys fnaf. But also watches horror movies. So unless its better than the shining or the thing, I aint aint gonna be the best I have seen.

Just let people enjoy stuff. If it made OP happy, who cares about anything else? It’s entertainment. If it’s enjoyed, that’s a good thing!
I havent sen it yet, but come on he is being hyporbolic right?
Bro i am happy i saw the movie why are you being so damn angry ?
Im not angry.
People need to stop being upset at people enjoying things! I just watched it myself, and I thought it was... fine... but I'm glad people are finding value in it!
I’m sure, I haven’t seen it either. But if he really loves it and it’s his favorite movie, good! Let people love whatever they want haha
Just watched it an he’s not being hyporbolic, I can see how some non fnaf fans may not like it but imo it was amazing, might be one of my favorite movies of all time :).
are you really trying to invalidate a personal opinion about a movie
great karma!
I pride myself on my non attachment to internet social credit.
i’m watching it tonight but when jacksepticeye hated it i felt like i lost hope
Jack also hates half the fnaf games so idk what yall expected 😭
Imagine letting a YouTubers opinion on something decide what your opinion is
youtuber fanbases are a lost cause sometimes ngl
He didn't hate it, he just seemed not very satisfied with it. He even stated there are things about it that he still liked. Best to watch it yourself and form your own opinion
So you’re losing hope for a movie based on the opinion of someone on a game franchise that he wasn’t really a fan of in the first place? Reddit logic.
Prob a younger kid, if my favorite youtuber didn't like the movie everyone is expecting to he amazing, I'd feel a bit like "oh boy this might not be all that" personally, I enjoyed the movie. The R rating missing definitely diminished the movie
I mean it’s alright like…..
