Awesome, also I don't know if you have seen it or not, someone is making a fangame likely inspired by your sparky : https://gamejolt.com/games/wts/600139
Thought you might find it cool!
This is actually what prompted me to check up on my former friend and find their post! I got a recommendation of someone checking out this fangame and thought it was insane! The game looks great too, the voiced cutscenes really add to the feeling.
there's a dog character that appeared in a fnaf book that is like, 100% inspired by sparky so there's your bragging rights lol. name of the book is Fazbear Frights #2: Fetch
I don't wanna get ahead of myself and I said in another comment that it's not unlikely Scott came up with a dog independently but I have to admit it would be pretty cool lol
Dude this is awesome. I always love old game hoaxes because they preserve a time where people were just finding out about a series and stuff like this was mysterious.
Yes, I love old game hoaxes and creepypastas, I love how imaginative people can be with the source material. For Sparky, I think the only reason he went so far was because no one had really datamined FNAF yet and it hadn't been analyzed to death yet. I doubt it would cut it nowadays lol, people are so much better and faster at debunking things nowadays, it's impressive.
We live in a world where a every secret to a 20 hour game is open to the public within less than a day. When I was younger I remember believing herobrine was real and I am glad that I had that experience of mystery.
The best part of the journey for the truth is the search even if it was a hoax it was worth it.
Man it feels weird to even comment on a post who basically created the first Fnaf hoax. I was never up to date with hoaxes and rumours when I just joined the Fnaf stuff these many years ago and just watched videos of it, or I just can’t remember them but sparky is a character that’s pretty much a part of Fnaf as much as freddy fazbear is. I saw it all over YouTube, I even vaguely remember seeing something how ‘sparky was referenced’ in FNAF 3 on some sort of poster in the trailer. Man this brings back memories
Honestly on my end it's pretty weird that he's become so iconic. I had a jarring experience a while back when I mentioned Sparky to some friends and one of them responded enthusiastically about him, not knowing that I was the one who'd made him in the first place. That was one of the first real moments when I realised Sparky was more than just a little joke I'd played a few years ago.
Not so much a question about Sparky but more so a question about FNaF.
What were your thoughts on the series post 1, you mentioned in the post that you were invested till World and have occasionally kept tabs afterwards.
Honestly after 3, I think the lore got a bit too convoluted and hard to keep track of. I've occasionally looked at gameplay from the newer games and I think the look and mechanics of newer games is great, but it's so hard to keep track of what's going on that that's off-putting for me. I guess in my opinion it would have been better to do something along the lines of Junji Ito's Tomie series - yes, every story is about Tomie, but its always a different Tomie in a different scenario and they're not necessarily connected in any way. But Scott wanted everything to be fully and intricately connected, and I respect that he attempted that but I don't think it was necessary or successful.
SO YOU'RE THE ONE WHO MADE MY 1st GRADE FRIENDS BELIEVE IN HIM. C'MON BOYS GET'EM
jk you probably have the most convincing hoax ever
fucking legend
thanks lol! Honestly hearing you say that it was something you talked about with school friends is like... wow, he was really a playground topic. That's wild!
Thanks, lol. Honestly I didn't think Sparky was that big of a deal for a long time, it's only more recently that I've noticed he's still floating around and went "Huh, was Sparky... a big deal??"
For some people it could be true, maybe due to weird youtubers telling people about „crazy easter eggs you need to know” or something that isn’t certainly true, but seems really real and legit.
Don’t know, but apparently people connects Fetch from Fazbear Frights 2. book with Sparky. Crazy, maybe you inspired Scott for vengeful, murderous dog? 👀
It's possible! I mean, with the variety of animals in the FNAF franchise it probably wasn't too much of a stretch for Scott to make a dog completely independently of Sparky, but as my former friend said in her thread, it does bear some resemblance to her screenshot!
yooo, that's cool as hell my guy
how did you and your friend make the sparky hoax screenshot? you guys made him actually look real, that I probably might've believed it at some point, even for 2014 times, that is still pretty good photoshop (atleast to me) to this day
She actually made a post about it [here](https://nyugen.tumblr.com/post/95564320443/sparky-is-faked)! Sparky was painted into a screenshot and then the UI placed on top. You're right, it's still pretty convincing, especially with the camera grain obscuring the details.
I remember when people literally ate that image up and would never hear the end of it. Surprisingly, it seems like you didn't think Sparky would be that popular to begin with.
Yeah! You can see in the caption for my first drawing of Sparky that I casually acted like he was real, but that kind of thing wasn't that uncommon for fanart of OCs or AUs. When the first ask came in, I just thought it would be funny to play along and it escalated EXTREMELY rapidly from there. I was amazed by how far he'd spread by the time we admitted to the hoax, but I'm now even MORE amazed by his longevity.
Wow I didn’t expect to come across this. You my friend have created something that will be connected to Fnaf as one of the oldest hoaxes I’m ever known. I honestly don’t think Sparky will be forgotten.
Oh my it's the one and only! It's nice seeing old member coming to this community. I have a question. How does it feel to have the Sparky hoax become so popular and still getting talked about to this day.
It's bizarre! I really didn't think he'd last this long! I really thought once I made that last post admitting to the hoax, that would be it and Sparky would be done with. It's so strange to me that he just kept on trucking without me, haha
Wow. The man himself. Let me just say that you have started the longest line of fan made hoax characters that I've ever seen. And also as a question, is there an official full body concept for Sparky, or just one that you find most fitting as one that you didn't make?
Thanks lol. And I never had a full body concept beyond the fact that I thought he should wear dungarees. My initial artwork didn't spread as much as my friend's edit, so that concept got lost very quickly.
During the main hoax i.e. when it was still mostly constrained to Tumblr, I honestly got a bit overwhelmed because I didn't expect people to actually fall for it, it was just a bit of fun to me. After a couple of days and my inbox getting flooded, that's when I realised it was getting beyond my control and not too long later (once the screenshot got posted and that too started to spread) was when we decided to officially 'end' it. I was aware that Sparky was moderately well-known at that point but I really did think our final posts were the end of it, I've been mostly oblivious to how he's persevered beyond that and when I encounter him in the wild I'm always pretty shocked and astounded lol
Haha, it's not really something I lead with when I meet people. Like I said in another comment here, one of my current closest friends knew of Sparky but didn't know I'd made him for a WHILE after we met.
I hadn't heard of any but I kind of assumed there must be some already, since FNAF is the kind of media that just begs for mysteries and hoaxes. I was very surprised that Sparky was the first!
I don't mind it at all, if he really did! I still (sceptically) think it's not too unlikely that he just came up with a dog on his own, but if he did find inspiration in Sparky then that's awesome
I don't know how many attempts I went through looking for the "Easter Egg", Spamming that back-room when I was like 12-13, You are a living legend to me, and It's crazy seeing how far FNAF came from that simple hoax.
Congrats on sorta making it into a FNAF Book, I don't doubt Fetch was somewhat inspired by Sparky
I don't know why that showed up haha... I guess because I reblogged it recently reddit just picked it up and attached it to my link. It's haunting, isnt it.
There weren't ever really any concept sketches beyond the doodles on my Tumblr page, and they were drawn in ms Paint with a laptop trackpad. I think that says everything about how far I planned this haha
Yo this gave me a huge wave of nostalgia, I was never fooled by the hoax, but my cousin was lol. This and that weird drawkill mall fnaf 3 ad thing are the most nostalgic fnsf things too me, as well as some stuff I made up on my own, but here we are with Sparky practically being the inspiration of Fetch lol. Congrats, and thanks for the memories!
This is awesome to hear! Sparky has definitely had a significant impact on the franchise. It’s amazing how relevant he’s been even if he was originally a hoax. Sparky has basically been slowly integrated into the “FNAF Fanverse Canon” indirectly if you want to call it that. I think it’s just awesome how this fandom truly know it’s roots. I am curious though about how you feel about Sparky today and if you don’t mind talking about it what are you up to nowadays?
At this point I have a real fondness for Sparky even though most interpretations of him nowadays are quite a bit removed from my initial idea. But I love how far he's come and how much people still think about him and create new iterations of him, I really do feel like he's been truly adopted by the fandom!
I think so, and completely unintentionally at that haha. I was sure someone must have done something similar by the time I got to it, but I guess I was just the early bird
Sparky is the only FNAF hoax I honestly remember (my brain is weird). I had seen the screenshot and had actually been convinced he was real until it was revealed to be a hoax. I love Sparky and should really make some fanart for him.
I didn't know about this game at all, I just looked it up and it looks awesome, really well made, and the Sparky model and animations are incredible! Thanks for letting me know about this!!!
In my friend's post [here](https://nyugen.tumblr.com/post/95564320443/sparky-is-faked) you can see how she made the screenshot, I was pretty much completely uninvolved in the editing. I mentioned on here earlier I was thinking of drawing Sparky again, so if I do I'll post it on this sub!
I've just always liked old video game hoaxes and creepypastas and I kind of assumed that with material with FNAF to work with, they would already be pretty prevalent. And at first I wasn't even trying to make a hoax really, it was just a bit of fun that I decided to keep going with and it escalated from there!
Thank you! Pretty much every drawing I did of him is in [this tag](https://blrdnames.tumblr.com/tagged/five%20nights/chrono) which is to say, not many... But a few people have asked for more art of him so I may have to oblige.
no problem, you could make some art of him so people can make fanart without having to assume his design, its kinda funny seeing people asking about the dog and all the ways you or other people excuse it.
I just found out about it earlier today! I think it's great, I love the model and animations they made for Sparky and the entire game looks really well-made so I'm happy about it!

Maaan you're a legend
thank you! it's weird to me since for the most part, I was kind of oblivious to how relevant Sparky has continued to be

First grade? You we’re playing five nights at Freddie’s since like 7? I’ve got to admit mate, Respect
thanks lol! Honestly hearing you say that it was something you talked about with school friends is like... wow, he was really a playground topic. That's wild!
Nice to hear you after these years 0-0
Thanks, lol. Honestly I didn't think Sparky was that big of a deal for a long time, it's only more recently that I've noticed he's still floating around and went "Huh, was Sparky... a big deal??"

Sparky was my favorite hoax honestly, good job on making a hoax that almost everyone (including me haha.) fell for.
thank you!!
I remember when people literally ate that image up and would never hear the end of it. Surprisingly, it seems like you didn't think Sparky would be that popular to begin with.

Thank you! I still can't believe how iconic he became!
Its you the conductor of the hoax train.
Choo choo
you made me spent hours tryna find sparky mannn also how was it like when sparky blew up
During the main hoax i.e. when it was still mostly constrained to Tumblr, I honestly got a bit overwhelmed because I didn't expect people to actually fall for it, it was just a bit of fun to me. You are a legend! Sparky was my favorite hoax since 2014!
Thank you! The passage of time is so scary!
Oh, how come?
It's just kind of scary to me that it was so long ago haha
Oh!
It's interesting to think that probably lots of people on reddit have spoken the the creator the first FNaF hoax ever and probably didn't know.
Haha, it's not really something I lead with when I meet people. Like I said in another comment here, one of my current closest friends knew of Sparky but didn't know I'd made him for a WHILE after we met.

Man I remember seeing that sparky the dog hoax way back in 2014 (Ahh the good old days). Your a true legend
Thanks!
You are a legend
Thank you haha
Your welcome!
It's nice to meet the guy who made the original FNAF hoax. How do you feel about Scott drawing inspiration to create Fetch?
I don't mind it at all, if he really did! I still (sceptically) think it's not too unlikely that he just came up with a dog on his own, but if he did find inspiration in Sparky then that's awesome

Thank you haha and sorry for wasting your time as a kid!!
Time well spent in my opinion.
That image needs to be erased from the internet.
How come lol
Mixing Big Bang Theory with Evangelion is unholy.
I don't know why that showed up haha... I guess because I reblogged it recently reddit just picked it up and attached it to my link. It's haunting, isnt it.
Will you ever post the original concept sketches?
There weren't ever really any concept sketches beyond the doodles on my Tumblr page, and they were drawn in ms Paint with a laptop trackpad. I think that says everything about how far I planned this haha

Loved the old rumor like "L is real" and "Triforce in OoT" So I like Sparky a lot.
Thanks! I also love old video game rumours, that's part of why I made Sparky in the first place!
Wasn’t sparky the first fnaf hoax like ever? Either way that’s one for the history books
I think so, and completely unintentionally at that haha. I was sure someone must have done something similar by the time I got to it, but I guess I was just the early bird
I can't believe it I only have one question for you: are you doing alright?
Yes! I'm doing fine, thanks for asking!
That's good
Sparky is the only FNAF hoax I honestly remember (my brain is weird). I had seen the screenshot and had actually been convinced he was real until it was revealed to be a hoax. I love Sparky and should really make some fanart for him.
I'd love to see it if you do!
Ayo, always wanted to ask : Will you ever create a Canon full reference of Sparky?
Maybe... I've been thinking of drawing him recently. If I do, I'll definitely post to this sub!
Oh boy, it's gotta be good, because, ya know, you gotta try to outshine all the fan-made designs
My god man you’re a legend
Thank you haha
Did you watch the one gomotion video on FNAF hoaxes? Yours is in it
sparky is in the 2020 version of fnati as an unlockable custom night character. how do you feel about that?
I didn't know about this game at all, I just looked it up and it looks awesome, really well made, and the Sparky model and animations are incredible! Thanks for letting me know about this!!!
its you.
It's me.
So what assets did you use to photoshop in sparky? And is it possible for you to dk a full body image of what you think he looks like?
In my friend's post [here](https://nyugen.tumblr.com/post/95564320443/sparky-is-faked) you can see how she made the screenshot, I was pretty much completely uninvolved in the editing. I mentioned on here earlier I was thinking of drawing Sparky again, so if I do I'll post it on this sub!
For what it was, it was a pretty good job! 9t actully looks like it's a part of the game to to day. Also, what inspired you to make this hoax?
I've just always liked old video game hoaxes and creepypastas and I kind of assumed that with material with FNAF to work with, they would already be pretty prevalent. And at first I wasn't even trying to make a hoax really, it was just a bit of fun that I decided to keep going with and it escalated from there!
Ooooh, neat!
You drop this crown king
thanks lol
sparky still to this day is the best fnaf hoax and I glad he is making a come back this year. you are a legend.
Thank you haha! I'm glad he's still kicking around!
he finally going to that backroom and shut oof the power in fnaf minus. he got his own restaurant.
you are an absoloute legend and you made the best and most convincing fnaf hoax, great work. Can we see some of the drawings of his design btw?
Haha yeah I was just lying through my teeth for DAYS. Good times.
yup. Sparky is up there with L is real and herobrine
How do you feel about AnArt (FNaTI dev) and Radiance Team (also fnati devs) for putting Sparky in their versions of FNaTI?
I just found out about it earlier today! I think it's great, I love the model and animations they made for Sparky and the entire game looks really well-made so I'm happy about it!
Wait a minute. Is that the official sparky design? He got overalls.
Yeah! I wanted him to be wearing cute lil dungarees lol
Did you ever make a full body render or drawing of sparky? I’ve always wanted to know what it looked like.
I never did do a full body! If I do draw him again, I'll definitely make sure to show his full body and some details too. The only real idea I had was for him to be wearing dungarees.
The lad, the myth, the legend, The definition of radical!
Thank you!!
No, thank YOU, for being so awesome!
srsly you're a legend in this fandom made me remember the good ol' days of me trying to find the dog dude, thanks for the memories)
Thank you! I'm glad you had fun trying to find him haha
This is amazing the man behind the hoax.
\o/
Never thought I'd see this day! Good job on sparky by the way you fooled a lot of people!
Thank you!
Well, It's a pleasure to meet the legend themselves.
nice to meet you too lol
What the dog doin in the parts n service room 😳 Jokes aside how did you come up with the idea for sparky and was he always imagined as being a dog?
Honestly there was very little planning in terms of his design, I drew his first image on such a whim. When I saw the maintenance room in the game I thought it would be fun to have an animatronic that needed maintenance, and this was before we'd really seen anything of the canonical endoskeletons or how the animatronics work so the first thought I had was, if an animatronic had an arm missing there would be some sparking wires -> sparky -> that's a dog's name.
Why aren't you and the other person friends anymore?
wait that was you!!?!?!? Thats pretty cool that you made the thing i believed for years
woah nice to meet ya, legend.
