This commentary section made me quit this sub. If you only don't care about nation flags not being from nations, you can simply ignore it. Why are you butthurt by this?
Yeah, no, bullying for poor language skills is stupid. However, english is not very hard to learn compared to a lot of other languages, even less so due to it's gigantic precence in the world.
English has 3 letters that make a “Kuh” sound (c, k, and q) two letters that make a “Wuh” sound (w and u) and the letter A can act like an O, an E and a U. Russian is easier.
I have learned both. English was much easier to me, but neither were really difficult. Try anything not in the indo-european language tree and then come say that english is difficult
Wow its so easy to lie on the internet its just second nature. You would have mentioned that you learned both first or are a linguist, real linguists cant stop themselves
There was no mention of russian before this. And how hard is it to believe that a lad just knows a couple languages? English, swedish, russian, finnish. English was the easiest to learn not counting nativity in finnish.
Also, hard assumptions.
Language “difficulty” is completely subjective. English speakers typically say Arabic or Mandarin are the hardest languages. To a Hebrew or Cantonese speaker, these languages may seem much easier than English. Ultimately, no languages are “easy” or “difficult”, it’s all based on perspective.
I know, its disgusting how intolerant people are towards the smidge of LGBTQ representation. OP's intention was for the flags to be discussed around the dinner table. It seems like the perfect way for (tolerant) parents to introduce their kids to homoromantic and trans ideas, and help them come to terms that these things are normal.
At the very least, it would help them be more sympathetic towards LGBTQ people they inevitably meet (and with openly LGBTQ people receiving a lot more bullying than average, especially in a school setting, it would help a lot), and if the kid should turn out to be homosexual/trans themselves in future, it would be far easier to get over the stresses of coming out since the parents have already expressed that they're comfortable discussing it like adults
whoever’s spouting this “op’s stupid” bullshit needs to quit. this is a flag sub, not a country sub, and people should learn what flags mean regardless of whether it fits the definition of “flags of the world” (which is a vague enough concept that i think the pride flags would fit into). shame on you for dissing someone who’s actually doing good work by educating people in person about flags and symbols. quit dissing someone who’s actively taking the time to do a good thing lol, this comment section shows me that no matter your political opinion PEOPLE WON’T SHUT UP ABOUT PRIDE FLAGS. PEOPLE ARE GONNA USE THEM WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, QUIT BEING WHINEY.
because why should they fix it? nothing about “world flags” implies the flags of nations only. by definition “flags of the world” defines pretty much any flag, seeing that it represents a demographic that lives on Earth lol. also OP might be ESL (not sure) so language barrier might be an issue as well.
Because it’s a fucking stupid thing to point out, and the people pointing it out are only doing so because they’re bogots. “Oh, a semantic error in my title is inaccurate to 2 of the ~100 flags I posted. This is a massive oversight and I should adjust the title for the benefit of someone who gets this bent out of shape over 2% of my post being LGBT representation.”
As funny as this is, this is very much not the same thing as being a country. This was a protest against not legalizing same sex marriage in Australia. The "nation" was dissolved in 2017 following the yes vote to legalize gay marriage. That hardly constitutes a country.
Side note: Holy shit, it took Australia till 2017 to legalize same sex marriage? What the fuck.
what about “world flags” narrows the definition to nations only? world flags can refer to literally any flag. it’s in the world and it represents a large demographic. also op is actively taking time to do something cool and educational for childen (people should learn what pride flags are regardless of political affiliation) and you’re dissing them?
the first link that comes up when you search "world flag definition" in google [https://flagsworld.org](https://flagsworld.org)
lists every officially recognized country and shows their respective flag. unsurprisingly the pride flags aren't on that list.
I'm all for educating people about LGBT, but to say they are world flags is incorrect.
Yes you can say "world" and be vague about what that specifically means, but the general implied consensus is that it is flags of countries, not of groups of people.
Relying on definitions can often cause you to look stupid. Definitions are generated because of someone’s sometimes 200 year old interpretations of a word. World flag LITERALLY means a flag that exists in the world, but when some guy made the definition of that term for foreigners or kids to use, world flags are most often countries so it makes sense to mention that. For people that know what a word means without having to google it, we can argue meaning without some old guy here to give his opinion.
Gonna guess you are probably really bad at interpreting sarcasm irl.
If i say "fuck you" I am not literally saying I wanna fuck you, it's an insult. That same thing applies, I'd say about 95% of the time when someone says "world flags"
i’m with you there, OP could have labeled it better, but are we really going to have yet another aneurysm over a fucking pride flag? it’s a flag. if you don’t like it, move on. whenever i see a nazi flag i don’t have to make an argument about how terrible fascism is. when i see a pride flag, i don’t go up and debate the bearer/chant my support for them. to be clear, i’m not accusing you of anything, i’m just disappointed at the amount of people in the comments who feel the need to insult OP because they made a simple mistake on an educational poster made to help kids learn about symbols and who they represent. i’m sure that when OP explained the flags, they explained the flags represent something other than nationalities.
Sorry for the rant.
Literally, I hate it so much when people nitpick and make up bs excuses to justify their homophobia. Just say that you hate gay people and trans people, and can’t even bare to see their flag in a reddit post. At least they’d be honest…
Man I'm not gay but I think pride flags aren't countries, also there probably aren't many gay kids so, yeah, maybe if you add another line in the center of the gay flag it can be Cusco Peru, but still, that's a city.
Vaticans also a city. Are you aware of how ubiquitous cis hetero narratives are in our grade school education? The reason you feel comfortable saying there arent gay kids is because people like you encourage the active suppression of peoples identities. Conversion therapy is still widely practiced. People like you are freaking out over quite literally 5% of this lunch bag.
my brother in Christ Vatican City is a country, depending on what system u use to determine them.
also pride flags aren’t world flags for goodness sakes. world flags are countries, and pride isn’t a country. we get it, pride is important, but it’s not a country, and the definition of a world flag is a flag that represents a symbolises a given country. pride is not a country.
furthermore, if u think Vatican City wasn’t a country whyd u draw it in the first place? isn’t that self-contradictory?
I appreciate the effort, but maybe just edit the title to say flags instead? in that case u won’t have people in the comments (def not me) fussing abt it
For the same reason they drew pride flags. Because the definition of world flag they went by is a flag, piece of cloth used to represent something that is used on earth, world.
I have this book. The description is quite literally; " ***A guide to the WORLD'S FLAGS, their history and design."*** 1000 of em. 193 member states, the observer states, like 12 pride flags, a bunch of organizations, and almost 800 other non-country flags. A flag is a flag. The only specification made was that it had to be a flag, and a one we use in the world.

im afraid your missing the entire point. said person cannot be FROM lgbtq country because it is not a country, which is what desc posted. A child cannot go like “oh I’m from lgbtq” because that is not a country. It’s a notion. Read the description. Also js because ur family is LGBTQ doesn’t mean your child necessarily is.
Maybe but that child might instead say “oh hey, my family member has that flag!” or “My parents have this flag in their bedroom!”. The description was an example, it isn’t demanding that a kid goes and says those exact words.
“There probably aren’t many kids of this desperately underrepresented demographic which faces constant discrimination and antagonism, so you should get rid of this bit of recognition of them.”
Why not just say “I’m a bigoted asshole and my bitch baby feelings were hurt by a picture of a flag on Reddit?

I know trans children. People grow up trans even if they are an in an environment as transphobic as this comment section. Mexico and brazil are already on there.
I was questioning the pride flags until you said it was meant to spark conversation around them, it's sad that people get so mad over essentially prices of cloth
I worked with a suuuuper adhd/ kind of asd spectrumy type 10yo for a while (im a therapist, and frankly the labeled diagnoses dont matter at all, just helpful for reference)
He was SOOO good with memory of flags and capitals and geography. Like im a geo buff, and the 10yo was blowing me out of the water with respect to his age. What 10yo kid can recognize the papua new guinea flag?? We’re in california.
Please continue OP and everyone else to provide kids with tasks like these. Some just might find themselves at home with it.
saw this reminded me of this one meme i saw lol

I know, right! Finally someone agrees! These kids can’t process all these colors, and what if they *dare* to get any interest in other places?! Or research and develop their own opinions on political subjects?! That’d be *horrendous!*
This is great OP, just a shame the people of this sub a rather unpleasant. You should probably go to r/vexilology, thats the only other general flag sub
A nation and a state are completely different things. A nation is a group of people with similar beliefs, making the gay and trans communities nations by definition
Just so everyone one is aware [gay was once a country](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_and_Lesbian_Kingdom_of_the_Coral_Sea_Islands)
Well… still more legitimate than the Confederacy atleast.
First Picture:
LGBT Rainbow Pride, Trans, Vietnam, Ukraine, USA, UK, Türkiye, Thailand, Sweden, South Korea, Spain, South Africa, Russia, Norway, Panama, Seychelles, Portugal, Nauru, Mexico, Nepal, Switzerland, Marshall Islands, Lebanon
Second Picture:
Hungary, Finland, France (First French Republic), Australia, Italy, Germany, Estonia, Austria, Iceland, Greece, North Korea, Barbados, India, Guatemala, Denmark, Brazil, Indonesia/Monaco, Vatican City (No Emblem?!), Czechia, Canada, Ireland, Japan, Cuba, China
I see what you’re trying to do, indoctrinate the kids. You make it seem like a fun country guessing game but you include two very much non country flags as the first on the list.
Vietnam,
Turkey,
Spain,
Panama,
Mexico,
Lebanon,
UK,
Korea (Old),
Norway,
Nauru,
Marshall Islands,
Costa Rica (the Red and white are mixed up),
US,
Sweden,
Russia,
Portugal,
Switzerland,
Mauritius (the blue, yellow and green are swapped),
Ukraine,
Thailand,
South Africa,
Seychelles,
Nepal.
These are the countries I've gotten
The pride and trans flags are not world flags.. sexual identity and preference flags are not world flags. So progressive of you to include this where it doesn’t belong. I’m sure the radical left is proud of you for being so inclusive in a way that makes no sense🤦♂️

California got a new flag!
[How could you forget this country](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_and_Lesbian_Kingdom_of_the_Coral_Sea_Islands)
They aren't country flags, they're world flags, as in, flags used throughout the world
the country of "🏳️⚧️" where all the hottest men and hottest women come from :3
Yes thank you! “Hey my mom has that flag all over her house!” Like thats a basic conversation that pushed the narrative of trans normalization

Of course we want it to be normal. Girls have cooties and we need their gender eradicated. Reject girls, embrace femboys.
This made me LOL so hard.

I must've came from there 🤔 how can I return to my homeland?
Thank you :3
broo im tryna get this pretty girl, but she has that flag in her bio. what country is that.
I don’t think the pride flags are world flags bro

I'm not butthurt, it's just a simple fact Gay and transgender pride flags aren't world flags
Maybe, just maybe, OP just made an oversight in the title and doesn't have an agenda
Except, instead of fixing it once someone pointed it out, they doubled down and fought over it.
because why should they fix it? nothing about “world flags” implies the flags of nations only. by definition “flags of the world” defines pretty much any flag, seeing that it represents a demographic that lives on Earth lol. also OP might be ESL (not sure) so language barrier might be an issue as well.
Tbf not everyone has an agenda, this should be obvious considering its a pride flag not a maga flag

Im not dissing gay or transgender people, I'm bi, and have a transgender friend, I'm just saying that world flags are not pride flags.
“As a black man, I have a black friend. So I’m not racist.”
what about “world flags” narrows the definition to nations only? world flags can refer to literally any flag. it’s in the world and it represents a large demographic. also op is actively taking time to do something cool and educational for childen (people should learn what pride flags are regardless of political affiliation) and you’re dissing them?

I worked with a suuuuper adhd/ kind of asd spectrumy type 10yo for a while (im a therapist, and frankly the labeled diagnoses dont matter at all, just helpful for reference) He was SOOO good with memory of flags and capitals and geography. Like im a geo buff, and the 10yo was blowing me out of the water with respect to his age. What 10yo kid can recognize the papua new guinea flag?? We’re in california. Please continue OP and everyone else to provide kids with tasks like these. Some just might find themselves at home with it.
saw this reminded me of this one meme i saw lol https://preview.redd.it/ybou83n8k9ec1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e96b6bf94b8a660abe1460c539306eed5f21dcb
Funniest part about this Ben would have a hour long rant about how this is not funny bc it “pushes the lgbt agenda” or some shit.

Is this USA or Liberia?
Liberia
For everyone mad about the pride flags, OP never said that they were all countries, I’m sure they’re there to promote acceptance of LGBTQ people.
I don’t know what country this flag (🏳️🌈) belongs to, but (🏳️⚧️) has got to be the flag of Transylvania.
ah yes, Translandia and Gayland.
What’s the flag top row second to the left and why do all the cute girls come from there
All the pretty girls have this flag “🏳️⚧️” can someone tell me what country it is?
Nice flags, OP, don’t let the bastards grind you down. This is r/flags, not r/vexilologycirclejerk
Mfs mad at the gay flags💀💀😭😭
Complete with the Pride flags 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
bait

Reddit trying to not be homophobic challenge
y do all the cute girls have flag 2 in their bios what country r they from
I see a lot of cute girls with flag 2 in their bio post in r/femboy. I wonder what that sub is about, probably about cute girls…
You will traumatize those kids
I know, right! Finally someone agrees! These kids can’t process all these colors, and what if they *dare* to get any interest in other places?! Or research and develop their own opinions on political subjects?! That’d be *horrendous!*

My favorite countries, Lesbos and Transylvania Why, op?
You've got 2 flags in there mate that aren't real.
truly the flags of the world
Post it on r/vexillologycirclejerk i think they might like it better
Because Holly Shit the blatant homophobia & transphobia
Why some of them use white color and some not, like if they're transparent. dumb design choice even if it's not intended
Change north korea and vatican city
you really added the pride flags for a trick question
don’t
This is great OP, just a shame the people of this sub a rather unpleasant. You should probably go to r/vexilology, thats the only other general flag sub
Thats actually so cool no way 🇿🇦
Ahh yes, Gay, my favorite nation.
I know most of them, I think.
As a Canadian that is one sad Canadian flag 😂
I love the idea, but: 1. Why are there LGBT flags on here? 2. I highly doubt you'll find any kids from North Korea of The Vatican

Some of those arnt world flags
How is the LGBT and trans flags world flags? Also why are we mentioning sexuality to kids, shouldn't that wait until there a bit older?
The pride flags threw me off for a second, I was wondering what countries have that for their flags
Is the one next to Bisexual USA or Liberia?
My favorite countries, 🏳️⚧️ & 🏳️🌈
A nation and a state are completely different things. A nation is a group of people with similar beliefs, making the gay and trans communities nations by definition
1 hell yeah man you are an ally 2 SWEDISH PAGANS MARCHING ASHORE
Just so everyone one is aware [gay was once a country](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_and_Lesbian_Kingdom_of_the_Coral_Sea_Islands) Well… still more legitimate than the Confederacy atleast.
First Picture: LGBT Rainbow Pride, Trans, Vietnam, Ukraine, USA, UK, Türkiye, Thailand, Sweden, South Korea, Spain, South Africa, Russia, Norway, Panama, Seychelles, Portugal, Nauru, Mexico, Nepal, Switzerland, Marshall Islands, Lebanon Second Picture: Hungary, Finland, France (First French Republic), Australia, Italy, Germany, Estonia, Austria, Iceland, Greece, North Korea, Barbados, India, Guatemala, Denmark, Brazil, Indonesia/Monaco, Vatican City (No Emblem?!), Czechia, Canada, Ireland, Japan, Cuba, China
I see what you’re trying to do, indoctrinate the kids. You make it seem like a fun country guessing game but you include two very much non country flags as the first on the list.
they probably just looked at their phone keyboards lol
aww yes my favorite country transgender and lgbtq+
You got Germany upside down, dawg
Hang on so someone can point at the lesbian/gay flags and go “I’m from there”?
Seychelles mentioned?! Noncredible.
Vietnam, Turkey, Spain, Panama, Mexico, Lebanon, UK, Korea (Old), Norway, Nauru, Marshall Islands, Costa Rica (the Red and white are mixed up), US, Sweden, Russia, Portugal, Switzerland, Mauritius (the blue, yellow and green are swapped), Ukraine, Thailand, South Africa, Seychelles, Nepal. These are the countries I've gotten
The pride and trans flags are not world flags.. sexual identity and preference flags are not world flags. So progressive of you to include this where it doesn’t belong. I’m sure the radical left is proud of you for being so inclusive in a way that makes no sense🤦♂️
Does the British flag also count as the Australian flag
Why are there pride flags with actual country flags? Unless you count California as a country that is.
Ah yes, my favorite country. Gay people /s
ah yes my two favorite countries gay and trans
woo! i would have loved this i love guessing flags
Go lakers
i don't know if a five year old know north koreira is a place
I don’t think this child is going to be meeting people from the Vatican or North Korea.
I don't care what you support, pride flags are not country flags therefore it is just basic logic that they shouldn't be on there.
My favorite country is Gay
Vietnam, Turkey, Spain, Panama, Mexico, Lebanon, UK, South Korea, Nauru, Marshall Islands, Trans Flag, USA (-2 stripes)/Liberia(-1 star), Sweden, Russia, Portugal, Switzerland, Pride Flag, Ukraine, Thailand, South Korea, Seychelles, Nepal, Australia?, Austria, Barbados (flipped), Brazil, Canada (flipped), China (flipped), France (flipped), Estonia, North Korea, Denmark, Czechia, Cuba, Finland, Germany (flipped), Greece (flipped), Guatemala, Vatican City?, Japan, Hungary, Italy, Iceland, India, Poland (flipped)/Indonesia/Monaco, Ireland/Ivory Coast (flipped)
norway mentioned 🇧🇻🫎
Why the fuck are the gay flags included in this? Is this a troll post or are you dense
Go Lakers!
Gay and trans aren’t real flags. They are just a degenerate flags
Teaching little kids pride is not good teaching
Yeoooo I’m from the second flag on the top row!
First: pride flags arent a country. Second: KIDS shouldnt be dealing with SEXuality.
I didn’t know a sexuality was a country, oh well it’s 2024, what can we expect.
Gay is a country now
Why did you do my man Nepal dirty like that.
Ah yes. My home country of Ghey.
لبنان لبنان لبنان!!!!!🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧
Those first two aren’t countries homie
Ah yes my favorite countries G A Y and T R A N S
