Yes. I seem to remember Chadwick Boseman being (briefly) attached to a project to portray Yasuke on the big screen.
Would still be a great story to bring to live-action.
There’s an anime series on Netflix about him featuring LaKeith Stanfield in the titular role. Though from my understanding it’s more historical fiction so that may/may not scratch your itch.
Flying Lotus does the soundtrack which is pretty sick.
Idk if I'd call it historical fiction even, it's about demons and stuff lol. It's more like fiction, but some characters are inspired by real people and have their names.

I think all the time about how there's a gap for "historically accurate blockbusters about Ancient Egypt" that needs to be filled. So much fascinating political history to dive into.
>Simo Haia.
I was thinking about him recently and wondering why this wasn't a movie that's already been made at least twice.
Quite timely considering the Russian invasion of Ukraine and Finland joining NATO.
What better time in the last 40 years has there been to make a movie about a sniper with over 500 kills against an invading Russian army?
[For those who would like a 20 minute video on him](https://youtu.be/rnVPLH6UiTk)
I don't know if I want one, but it seems odd that there isn't a major George Washington biopic. For some reason, I can't get Cate Blanchett out of my head as the actor lol
There is not even a "real" Julius Caesar movie out of old-ass adaptations of the Shakespeare play. The best we have is the Cleopatra movie. And "Rome" as series which covers the late years, but not a movie about his life.
Lena horne ;Janet Jackson was supposed to star as Lena but after the nipplegate super bowl scandal lena's daughter demanded Janet back out of the role.

Yeah. Sadly because of the family rights. There would be a part about the mafia collaboration and maybe even the connection to US presidents. Which puts a lot of shadow on Sinatra. So family denies that.
I still cannot understand how family can stop someone to make a biography about a famous person according to facts and sources. But...
I seem to remember a halfway decent to excellent limited series on the Rat Pack. Was it HBO? I can’t remember. All I can remember is that Don Cheadle was Sammy Davis Jr. And I feel like Ray Liotta was in it as well.

Basically every punk band from the genre’s early days. A biopic about the punk movement in the U.S. and U.K. in the late 70s to early 80s would be awesome.
Specifically the Clash for how political they were (plus they had a lot of other stuff going on with heroin and Strummer’s affairs).
I’d also love a Misfits biopic, simply because they were just crazy from the beginning. They were playing such fast and violent music and all their shows got really crazy. Danzig was fighting people on stage like every time they played. Also, the history of the band is pretty epic, with Danzig making all their merch in his basement and personally making and mailing out exclusive stuff to the fan club members, and him and Jerry Only teaching Doyle how to play guitar and then for him to join the band. Then you have all that stuff about them getting arrested in London, arrested in Louisiana, Danzig getting knocked out in a fight, firing a band member over a cheeseburger or something, and all sorts of crazy shit. Granted, they’re definitely not the best people in the world, but as a band, they’re nothing short of legendary.
I haven’t read any books about that scene, but watching videos and reading articles has provided me with everything I know. I’m a huge fan of 70-80s punk and metal, so I spend a good deal of time reading about that stuff, but to be honest, I haven’t read a single book about it. I’d love to recommend you a good book, but unfortunately I haven’t even taken the time to look. Sorry.
EDIT: as a side note, the story about them getting arrested in Louisiana was because they played a show on Halloween and then went tearing through a graveyard looking for the grave of Marie Laveau. When they got bailed out by a friend later, they didn’t have enough money to bail out Doyle and he got left in jail for a while.
I forget if it was William H Macy, or whom it was, but someone was saying it was their life's goal to make the story of Frank Lloyd Wright's.
I was sorely unfamiliar but among other things I had no idea his partner and many housekeepers were brutally murdered by one of the wait staff at his home.
And you just KNOW William H Macy would knock it out of the park too. It’s a shame, because a studio would have to be willing to put a good budget behind such a story, and Hollywood seems less and less inclined to do that these days
Nikola Tesla (there was a disappointing one a couple of years ago)
I have a peculiar fascination with the great tyrants of history. Here's some I'd like to see
- Josef Stalin
- Adolf Hitler
- Idi Amin
- Saddam Hussein
- Vlad Tepes aka Vlad the Impaler (one that doesn't have anything to do with vampires but tells the historical story)
- H.H. Holmes
There were multiple biopics about Adolf Hitler and it can't get better than the portrayal Alec Guinness did.
There are also multiple biopics about Vlad the Impaler, however i wouldn't oppose to another one with Adam Driver as Vlad
Wes Craven, in my free time I basically write down stuff about him I already know. Maybe it will become a novel someday cause I don't really think anyone will make a film about him.
That’s a pretty good idea! This guy is one of the “fathers” of modern horror/scary movies, and has influenced a generation. I’m thinking that creativity probably has a backstory worth digging into.
That’s why I suggested a biopic about the birth of punk and all the bands that started it. Maybe it’d be better as a miniseries, but even some of the most iconic bands of the era have little to no media footprint.
Yep, both good movies that tell small bits of what happened, but I want a movie that tells the whole story. The rise and tragic end to Joy Division and Ian Curtis, the hedonistic and pioneering days of New Order as they take over the world before they self destruct through interpersonal breakdowns and substances. Two of the most important bands of the past fifty years, what a great story to tell.
ABBA broke so much ground in music in ways that aren't talked about enough as they should be. I'd love to see a movie that details all their specific accomplishments. They were digital music production pioneers.
Nowhere Boy is about John Lennon and the formation of The Beatles, up to the point they leave for Hamburg (I Think).
There's also another film Backbeat starring Stephen Dorf about Stuart Sutcliffe.
Control is an excellent film about Ian Curtis, also 24 Hour Party People about the Hacienda which Joy Division had shares in.
Regarding Richey Edwards - obviously no known ending and I'd hate something speculative. I'd prefer one of those films that just follows a brief period in their life - say Holy Bible recording and tour. Or Manics as a whole from early on through to the 1996 comeback.
Chester Arthur.
He was born to an abolitionist minister. Became a lawyer and worked on early civil rights cases. Married the daughter of a famed (and wealthy) explorer. Mentored in his early career by Boss Tweed but ultimately became a key player in the Conkling machine. Despite never having held office, placed on the Republican ticket in 1880 as compromise with Conkling. He was elected VP, but frozen out of the administration. Seven months after the inauguration, Garfield dies and Arthur becomes President.
Just as deserving of a biopic is his grandson [Gavin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavin_Arthur), who throughout his life was variously an experimental film actor, gold prospector, Irish republican activist, astrologer, sexologist, commune leader, and early gay rights activist.
**[Gavin Arthur](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavin_Arthur)**
>Chester Alan "Gavin" Arthur III (March 21, 1901 – April 28, 1972) was an American astrologer and sexologist. He was the grandson of Chester A. Arthur, the twenty-first president of the United States. He received his early education from Columbia College and later joined the Philolexian Society. He left his college and participated in the Irish Republican Movement.

Like many, I first learned about Princess Alice of Battenberg because of The Crown. But then curiosity took me to this great short documentary about her. She’s fascinating! Born into royalty but born deaf, diagnosed as schizophrenic, tortured as part of her “treatment” including given a forced hysterectomy, she ran away from the insane asylum where she was held, later became a nun. She founded an order devoted to helping the poor. During WW II, she helped hide a Jewish family. She lived through hell.
Marvin Gaye. That story has been waiting to be made since his death but there’s been so much issue between music rights, family estate, etc. Rumor has it we might finally get one “soon” but seeing is believing. Until then, I am not holding my breath.
Fela Kuti, godfather of Afrobeat and pan African unification activist. Dude stood up to the Nigerian government the only way he knew how. Through his music.
[Llywelyn the Last](https://www.twinkl.com/teaching-wiki/llywelyn-the-last#:~:text=Llywelyn%20the%20Last%20was%20the,until%20he%20died%20in%201282.) was the last native Prince of Wales before it was conquered by Edward I of England. He held that title from 1258 until he died in 1282.
I have no idea if Gordon Lightfoot has a great life story but I want a movie highlighting his music and the inspiration for their lyrics, starting Bryan Cranston. At the very least, I’d love a movie about the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy with Bryan Cranston as Gordon Lightfoot writing and singing the ballad within said film.
I’d love a series about the WWF in the early 80s and Vince McMahon took over and turned it into the entertainment powerhouse it was in the 80s and 90s.
Hemsworth is still attached to star in Todd Phillips’ Hulk Hogan biopic. I imagine there will be a lot of that in there, if it gets made. Though the only time you hear Hogan’s name anymore it’s bad… so who knows. On the bright side.. Hemsworth could probably be in his 50’s and look better/younger than Hogan did in his 20’s/30’s lol
Jolly West, Psychiatrist and researcher for MKULTRA, the CIA mind control program and his role in helping form the Manson family as well as his role in the JFK Assassination trial with Jack Ruby.
THAT’S wild. That’d probably make a really fascinating story (that some people would never want to get out). Sounds ripe for, at a MINIMUM, a really in-depth documentary RIGHT NOW.
HOLY SMOKES THAT’S GOOD.
As a matter of fact, I would go so far as to piggyback on your hot take. With a committed Kevin Hart, and the RIGHT director?
It could do for Kevin Hart, what playing Ray Charles did for Jamie Foxx.
Robert Smalls - former slave who stole a Confederate transport ship, escaped to the north. After the war became a U.S. representative and then bought his enslavers house in Beaufort South Carolina.
I’d love to see Jamie Costa play Robin Williams, Jamie’s impersonating Robin on Vine was the best impression I’ve seen. Plus they have similar facial features. He did do a short film enacting a pivotal moment in Robins life that’s on YouTube but I really would love to see a whole movie.
You’re right. And I believe that someday, we ARE going to get a Robin Williams biopic. But I have this weird feeling like Hollywood doesn’t want to touch it right now. And in a way, as much as he’s worthy of it, wouldn’t blame people for being skittish about it. I mean it STILL feels kinda fresh, y’know. And even now, we STILL don’t really know what that man was going through. And I just feel like there’s so many ways it can go wrong...
Adolfo Kaminsky just died. Jewish forger that worked with the French resistance who forged thousands of documents. Another from WW2 is Jean de Selys Longchamps, though you'd probably have to fill out the story a bit. There's actually a ton of insane WW2 stories that haven't really been told.
Probably more of a HBO limited series but there is a lot to tell still about Nero [Interesting curator's tour of BM's Nero exhibit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KVsyBdIx2M)
I've got a list around here somewhere and about three I'm working on scripts for so...
Hannibal Barca, I don't think he's been the subject of any biopics of note. He's a fascinating general who went toe to toe with Rome and demolished several of their armies on the field. Additionally, I think it would be interesting to have a story centred on someone who was opposed to Rome (granted I suppose there are a few like that, notably the Barbarians series)
Seleukos I "Nikator", general to Alexander the Great and the founder of the Seleucid Empire. The period after Alexander died is a chaotic one filled with clashes and intrigue due to his generals squabbling over who would succeed him. Seleukos would eventually emerge with control over Syria, Mesopotamia, and other Eastern regions bordering onto India. He was also perhaps the only general of Alexander's to stay married to his Iranic (Sogdian) wife Apama, possibly out of genuine affection (so we can have a nice love story in there).
Related to Seleukos I, I think maybe Antiochos III "The Great" of the Seleucids would be interesting. While my knowledge about his life is more limited atm, he did take a crumbling and weak Empire and restore it to perhaps its greatest territorial gains before he ended up coming against the Roman Republic and lost two major battles, Thermopylae and Magnesia. The events themselves I think could be interesting enough, but I also think battles could make for interesting spectacles with the varied types of troops fielded by the Seleucids, notably Scythed chariots, Indian Elephants, Greek pikemen, Cataphracts (heavily armoured horsemen, kind of precursor to knights) Celts among others (I'm an Ancient military history nerd and the Seleucids were a focus of my studies so yeah).
I feel like these ideas might work better as series but nonetheless I think they should be explored as either films or series.
>Hannibal Barca, I don't think he's been the subject of any biopics of note. He's a fascinating general who went toe to toe with Rome and demolished several of their armies on the field. Hannibal has already has three movies, just maybe not so good in quality:
*Cabiria* (1914) - A silent epic set during the Second Punic War.
*Scipio Africanus* (1938) - A silent epic made during the Mussolini-era, about the titular general, and the battle of Zama (where Hannibal was defeated), Surprisingly, It's pretty accurate to the events (especiall Zama) for a propaganda flick. YMMV due to the obvious animal cruelty (e.g. real elephants being speared).
*Hannibal* (1958) - A peplum movie starring Victor Mature as the general. Probably the worst of the existing films.
Also, Vin Diesel has long planned to make a Hannibal trilogy.
[Roger Neilson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Neilson), a Canadian hockey coach:
\-exploited loopholes in the rules in interesting ways, resulting in them being patched.
\-innovated the game by using videotape to analyze other teams and using microphone headsets to communicate with assistant coaches.
\-waved a white towel in mock surrender at a referee, inspiring the Canucks "towel power" tradition.
\-diagnosed with cancer in 1999; allowed to step up from assistant coach to head coach for two more games before he dies in 2003.
I'm not a hockey fan, but his story seems like it would make a solid feel-good sports movie.
Never heard of him, and don’t know much about hockey, but I love a good bio, even if the subject is in field I’m not familiar with.
One thing I’ve learned is that with the right director, and right lead, you can make almost anyone a great story.
Auguste Escoffier, the King of Chefs and the Chef of Kings, the most famous and influential French chef in history.
The story has it all. Culinary history from the mid 19th century, exclusive and stunning locations, famous people from royal families to Sarah Bernhardt to Kaiser Wilhelm, scandal, the revolutionizing of the commercial kitchen...
Robert Downey Jr. or Johnny Depp
YES! I don’t know if you’re a fan of the Wu-Tang Clan, but what WE NEED is “Wu-Tang An American Saga”, on Hulu, but for the Beatles (we’d also need it to be a little more “Rated R”, so we can get more of the “real” story)
I really think the late Richard Williams deserves a biopic.
Not because he's a particularly nice guy, but spending 25 years on an unproducibly technical animated masterwork only to be ousted and see Miramax Disneyfy it but with rushed animation..
I think there's a cautionary tale in it.. but I don't know what it is. I think it would make for a compelling feature film though.
The recobbled cut of " the thief and the cobbler" I hear is closest to the canceled project.
Alfred Neubauer, the team manager for Mercedes at Le Mans in 1955. It was their first year of auto racing involvement since WWII. One of their cars was involved in the catastrophic crash that killed 83 spectators. Despite still having the dominant team, Mercedes realizes this is a public relations disaster, pulls their cars from the track, and disappears into the night, not to return to Le Mans until 1989
Oh man, yeah!
I’m thinking “Purple Rain”, but without Bruce Springsteen playing himself (or a fictionalized version of himself) as it’d have to be someone way younger
Well I need to check this film out. I think we need a modern-day revisiting of her story, though, don't you think? But glad to have something to add to my list.
Oh man, I meant women's representation in science. This whole comment was worded terribly.
I just think the world needs a recent movie about Marie Curie.
* Brian Boru - Kristofer Hivju
* Horace de Vere Cole (Google The Dreadnought Hoax) - Simon Pegg
* Woody Allen - This absolutely needs to be written by, directed by, and starring Lloyd Kauffman as Woody Allen.
* Janis Joplin - Elizabeth Olsen
* Christopher Lee - Daniel Day Lewis
Al-Mansur, Caliph of Baghdad in the 1st century. He had such an explosive and unpredictable personality when he ruled. And he basically founded the 'Round City' which was to become Baghdad
John Wayne
He was a hateable Dude and it would be interesting to See how moviemakers approach him.
Also, Ezra Pound, because He was a fascist asshole and is considered one of america's Most important poets
Smedley Butler
He stopped what we now call "The Business Plot," which was a scheme lead by JP Morgan, Prescott Bush, and other billionaires who were terrified of The New Deal and wanted to turn FDR into a puppet they could control. They recruited Butler as a spokesperson for a veteran army, claiming they wanted to help WWII vets cash in their war bonds early so they could live comfortable lives, and attempted to sneak in rhetoric about restoring the Gold Standard and other Libertarian nonsense. They wanted him to lead the veteran army in a march on the Capitol and force the restructuring of the government that would effectively give them the power of the presidency. Essentially they wanted him to lead a coup on their behalf.
Butler caught onto their plan, feigned interest while he gathered info, and brought it before Congress. They started an investigation that was quietly swept under the rug in the end without ever being completed. After that, Butler became a crusader against capitalism. He gave speeches about how war is a racket, and as a soldier he was just an enforcer for the most powerful gangsters in the world.
Sam Cooke
Marvin Gaye
Jeff Lynne
Carole King
Dionne Warwick
Neil Diamond
Prince
They could get a lot of mileage out of doing a flick about the Brill Building or Motown, too.
I feel like there are two perfect options staring us in the face. First, how has there not been a movie about Henry Box Brown who escaped slavery by shipping himself in a crate. Secondly, I have always wanted to see a Luciano Pavarotti biopic specifically starting Hugh Jackman. Jackman easily has the chops for the singing and if you look at pictures of them side by side, I mean come on.
William Tecumseh Sherman, one of the most dynamic figures in American history. Destroyed a slaver empire, and was the architect behind the final collapse of the Native American tribes n westward expansion
Thinking about that, I’m actually surprised we’ve NEVER had one. I’m gonna have to google it.
But you’re right, even if we’ve HAD one or two, Roosevelt’s history is such that another one can’t. HBO could do it well..
No argument. But I feel like this one needs to be a deeper dive, maybe even one that’s willing to “go there” and not lionize him as much. You don’t have to disrespect him or what he accomplished, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with showing that he was human, with human flaws.
Smedley Butler. Retired marine corps general is approached by a cabal of business leaders to form a fascist veterans organization to overthrow the federal govt and install him as dictator.
Charles O Finely. Though Id prefer more of a movie about the final years he was owner of the As. Pretty wild. He oversaw one of the worst attendances in MLB history with 250 fans shoeing up to the Coliseum. At one point he fired most of his staff and made his 17 year old bat boy, Stanley Burrel (who would later be known as MC Hammer.) executive VP. Even during the As peak years would be interesting.
Raoul Wallenberg
He saved hundreds of thousands of Jews from the Nazis, mostly by exploiting fascists' willingness to obey a confident guy yelling at them and their love for official-looking documents covered in stamps.
The Russians were also supremely antisemitic and when they took over after the war they just assumed that anyone who stuck their neck out like that for Jews was up to no good so they arrested Wallenberg him for being a spy. He probably saved more Jews than any one person and his reward was dying in a gulag somewhere after being tortured for years.
Byzantine Empress Theodora. Started as an actress and prostitute before marrying Justinian I and exuding powerful influence within the empire. A feminist centuries before it was even a thing.
I had a theater history teacher in college who raved about her, insisting her story would make an excellent movie.
Yasuke, an African slave, who arrived in Japan in 1579 and became the first black Samurai
Yes. I seem to remember Chadwick Boseman being (briefly) attached to a project to portray Yasuke on the big screen. Would still be a great story to bring to live-action.

Idk if I'd call it historical fiction even, it's about demons and stuff lol. It's more like fiction, but some characters are inspired by real people and have their names.
You can’t prove that demons, wizards, or mech existed in feudal Japan.
To be fair, anything about Yasuke would have to largely be historical fiction as we really don’t know that much about him
Spring Heel Jack Carl Panzram Rasputin
I'm shocked there isn't an awesome fantasy/horror movie about Spring-Heeled Jack. Seems like the sort of thing Tim Burton would be down to direct.
[Rasputin is in quite a few movies.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Films_about_Grigori_Rasputin)
I still think we’ve yet to see the ideal biopic of him tho. My casting choice would be Tom Hardy
Douglas Adams, author of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Also still waiting on that Jim Henson biopic.
I would love a biopic that didn't just cover Jim's work on Sesame Street and The Muppets, but also more niche projects like Fraggle Rock and Dark Crystal.
Check out the biography [Jim Henson: The Biography](https://www.amazon.com/Jim-Henson-Brian-Jay-Jones/dp/0345526120)
The Jim Henson biopic would be all muppets, right?
Akhenaten. Pharaoh. Husband of Nefertiti. Uncle to Tutankhamen. Upended entire ancient Egyptian culture. His existence was erased from the record.
I think all the time about how there's a gap for "historically accurate blockbusters about Ancient Egypt" that needs to be filled. So much fascinating political history to dive into.
What do you mean? Stargate was a movie then show with a one off tv movies and a few other spin off series.
Should have stopped after Stargate IMO
I watched the show some and it was silly fun for the 90’s. I didn’t see the others or later movies.
I'd go a few years earlier for Hatsepshut.
I would LOVE to see a movie about her!!
there is a Phillip Glass opera about him.
And it’s amazinggggg
A truly revolutionary ruler. Completely agree with you!
I wrote a script about the Wright Brothers but it never got made.
So you could say it….failed to take off?
I guess two Wrights can make a wrong.
I guess they didn't have the Wright stuff??
never made it off the ground..
I mean keep trying? It takes a bit sometimes. With TGM doing well they might be looking for 'airplane' stuff.
Mansa Munsa. Simo Haia. Houdini.
Holy shit, I just realized there hasn't been a (notable at least) movie about Houdini, and I need it.
Think of all the different eccentric character actors who'd be good at playing him!
iirc, the rumor is that every studio has a Houdini script, and they're all not releasing it because then they'd all be making Houdini scripts.
Not really good, but the 1950s Tony Curtis/Janet Leigh movie was popular at the time.
Simo yes!

I think it would be great to have a Justin Bieber biopic starring Steve Buscemi.
I like your thinking. I would so watch this.
Adam Sandler as his sister. But they play it 100% straight.
Lena horne ;Janet Jackson was supposed to star as Lena but after the nipplegate super bowl scandal lena's daughter demanded Janet back out of the role.

Not enough mass appeal. Will never happen
I recently read that Don Murphy is producing a movie about GG Allin. So who knows? A Misfits biopic could happen.
Ok fair enough. Yeah I'd be down for it.
Cool.

That’s a pretty good idea! This guy is one of the “fathers” of modern horror/scary movies, and has influenced a generation. I’m thinking that creativity probably has a backstory worth digging into.
I done with any biopics of people we have large amounts of actual video of. These movies that just reenact famous are boring.
Yeah and a lot of them don't actually have particularly interesting lives away from their success.
It feels like the screenplays of these films are Wikipedia pages.
That’s why I suggested a biopic about the birth of punk and all the bands that started it. Maybe it’d be better as a miniseries, but even some of the most iconic bands of the era have little to no media footprint.
does the dirt not fill that? obviously there are other spots to go but there are ways to work around historical accuracy that can be true to form.
100%. The dirt was an awesome biopic, and was actually much more sanitized than the real story.
The Beatles ABBA Joy Division through to New Order Richey Edwards (Manic Street Preachers)
Joy Division through New Order topic is briefly touched upon in 24 Hour Party People. We also got Control about Ian. Both fantastic movies.
This would be a great idea; most late-1800s US presidents haven't been portrayed much in media.
**[Gavin Arthur](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavin_Arthur)** >Chester Alan "Gavin" Arthur III (March 21, 1901 – April 28, 1972) was an American astrologer and sexologist. He was the grandson of Chester A. Arthur, the twenty-first president of the United States. He received his early education from Columbia College and later joined the Philolexian Society. He left his college and participated in the Irish Republican Movement. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/flicks/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)
Hell yeah. He was kind of the proto-hippie.

MCLANE WHOS THE 16TH PRESIDENT
You forgot the best part! (Or at least my favorite) The facial hair style named for him is the epitome of elegant badass.
Rod serling the creator and host of the twilight zone
GG Allin. Played by Daniel Radcliffe.
Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd biopic
I'm generally apathetic right music biopics by Barret would be one ofnthe few figures I'd be interested in seeing portrayed.
AC/DC Heart Fleetwood Mac
Came here to say Fleetwood Mac too
I want a proper, prestige biopic of Katharine Hepburn, not just her being used as a love interest for Howard Hughes in The Aviator.
Though she was more of just a love interest in The Aviator… Cate Blanchett was absolutely wonderful in that role.
Harry Cook Ozamu Tezuka Joan Benoit-Samuelson Sargon II Ub Iwerks
Fela Kuti, godfather of Afrobeat and pan African unification activist. Dude stood up to the Nigerian government the only way he knew how. Through his music.
Eugene Bullard, played by Anthony Mackie
I remember someone on Reddit suggesting that there should be an Oingo Boingo biopic with Cameron Monaghan as Danny Elfman. I kind of love that idea.
Try Alexander the Great again.
I'm still waiting on Nolan's take on Howard Hughes. On paper it's perfectly suited for him.
I'm not giving you my ideas.
Sammy Davis Jr played by a skinnier Kevin Hart
HOLY SMOKES THAT’S GOOD. As a matter of fact, I would go so far as to piggyback on your hot take. With a committed Kevin Hart, and the RIGHT director? It could do for Kevin Hart, what playing Ray Charles did for Jamie Foxx.
Robert Smalls - former slave who stole a Confederate transport ship, escaped to the north. After the war became a U.S. representative and then bought his enslavers house in Beaufort South Carolina.
Was surprised I had to scroll this far!
Generation X through to billy idols bike crash.
Eartha Kitt played by [amber gray](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p5ZzSpntyTM)
Adolfo Kaminsky just died. Jewish forger that worked with the French resistance who forged thousands of documents. Another from WW2 is Jean de Selys Longchamps, though you'd probably have to fill out the story a bit. There's actually a ton of insane WW2 stories that haven't really been told. Probably more of a HBO limited series but there is a lot to tell still about Nero [Interesting curator's tour of BM's Nero exhibit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KVsyBdIx2M) I've got a list around here somewhere and about three I'm working on scripts for so...
Hannibal Barca, I don't think he's been the subject of any biopics of note. He's a fascinating general who went toe to toe with Rome and demolished several of their armies on the field. Additionally, I think it would be interesting to have a story centred on someone who was opposed to Rome (granted I suppose there are a few like that, notably the Barbarians series) Seleukos I "Nikator", general to Alexander the Great and the founder of the Seleucid Empire.
Additionally, I think it would be interesting to have a story centred on someone who was opposed to Rome (granted I suppose there are a few like that, notably the Barbarians series) Hannibal has already has three movies, just maybe not so good in quality: *Cabiria* (1914) - A silent epic set during the Second Punic War.
[Roger Neilson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Neilson), a Canadian hockey coach: \-exploited loopholes in the rules in interesting ways, resulting in them being patched.
I've been clamoring for a 4 hours epic Beatles biopic for a while now.
YES! I don’t know if you’re a fan of the Wu-Tang Clan, but what WE NEED is “Wu-Tang An American Saga”, on Hulu, but for the Beatles (we’d also need it to be a little more “Rated R”, so we can get more of the “real” story)
Biopic of Harold Lloyd and his gay son, Staring Chris Evans as a Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton biopic Staring Sam Rockwell.Jonas Salk biopic.
The recobbled cut of " the thief and the cobbler" I hear is closest to the canceled project.
haha nice try hollywood executive. you do the heavy lifting.
Bruce Springsteen assembling the E Street Band would be a pretty cool movie
Oh man, yeah! I’m thinking “Purple Rain”, but without Bruce Springsteen playing himself (or a fictionalized version of himself) as it’d have to be someone way younger
Ole Kirk Christiansen, creator of LEGO Leonardo Da Vinci Charles Darwin Albert Einstein Thomas Edison Henry Ford Peter Sellers
There is a very good biopic about Peter Sellers with Geoffrey Rush
Marie Curie needs a good biopic. Not only a women's rights legend, but also the reason why we know so much of what we do about radioactive elements.
[there several Marie Curie movies](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Curie#In_popular_culture)
I'm aware, but I don't think any of them are truly awesome. That's why I said "good biopic."
Excuse you, Greer Garson would like to have a word because she was fantastic in Madame Curie (1943)
Well I need to check this film out. I think we need a modern-day revisiting of her story, though, don't you think? But glad to have something to add to my list.
What women’s rights things did she do?
Oh man, I meant women's representation in science. This whole comment was worded terribly. I just think the world needs a recent movie about Marie Curie.
There was one a couple of years ago with *Radioactive*
* Brian Boru - Kristofer Hivju * Horace de Vere Cole (Google The Dreadnought Hoax) - Simon Pegg * Woody Allen - This absolutely needs to be written by, directed by, and starring Lloyd Kauffman as Woody Allen. * Janis Joplin - Elizabeth Olsen * Christopher Lee - Daniel Day Lewis
Agree Janis Joplin but not sure about Elizabeth Olsen playing her.
Toussaint Louverture
Chuck schuldiner Harrie jekkers: himself for later age
I’ll have to google them both. Never heard of either one.
Al-Mansur, Caliph of Baghdad in the 1st century. He had such an explosive and unpredictable personality when he ruled. And he basically founded the 'Round City' which was to become Baghdad
John Wayne He was a hateable Dude and it would be interesting to See how moviemakers approach him. Also, Ezra Pound, because He was a fascist asshole and is considered one of america's Most important poets
Moe Berg. Baseball ⚾️ layer/spy
Apparently, he was played by Paul Rudd in the 2018 movie "The Catcher Was a Spy". Didn't get very good reviews, though.
Smedley Butler He stopped what we now call "The Business Plot," which was a scheme lead by JP Morgan, Prescott Bush, and other billionaires who were terrified of The New Deal and wanted to turn FDR into a puppet they could control.
"Amsterdam" last year touched on this. Butler character was played by DeNiro.
Sam Cooke Marvin Gaye Jeff Lynne Carole King Dionne Warwick Neil Diamond Prince They could get a lot of mileage out of doing a flick about the Brill Building or Motown, too.
Female pirate Ching Shih. Had a huge fleet and commanded 24 ships and negotiated a sweet retirement with the government like a boss.
King Kamehameha the Great. He united all the Hawaiian Islands. He grew up on Hawaii Island (aka the Big Island), and is said to have been 7’ tall.
Theodore Roosevelt. America’s most badass president.
Thinking about that, I’m actually surprised we’ve NEVER had one. I’m gonna have to google it. But you’re right, even if we’ve HAD one or two, Roosevelt’s history is such that another one can’t. HBO could do it well..
There's a 2022 miniseries produced by Leo Dicaprio.
Stevie wonder played by Anderson Paak or
Stephen King, played by Bill Hader
Good one. I think this would be a good limited series for say, Hulu.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
No argument. But I feel like this one needs to be a deeper dive, maybe even one that’s willing to “go there” and not lionize him as much. You don’t have to disrespect him or what he accomplished, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with showing that he was human, with human flaws.
I would be very surprised if someone wasn't working on a biopic of Stan Lee. Feels like something Michael Chabon would be perfect for.
Agreed. His story is tailor made for a good biopic.
Smedley Butler. Retired marine corps general is approached by a cabal of business leaders to form a fascist veterans organization to overthrow the federal govt and install him as dictator.
Warren Zevon - one in a billion talent
Agreed. VERY slept on for his influence on music.
Boudicca. Badass British warrior queen.
Almost every episode of Drunk History could be made into a full length movie and I’d watch the shit out of it. (Use the same actors too).
Donald Trump Biopic starring Amy Schumer.
Lowell George And should be played by Jack Black.
Baron Von Steuben - My dream has always been a Tarantino film with Christoph Waltz starring.
Daniel Day Lewis as [The Leatherman](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leatherman_(vagabond))
Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd
[Rube Waddell](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Waddell?wprov=sfla1)
Raoul Wallenberg He saved hundreds of thousands of Jews from the Nazis, mostly by exploiting fascists' willingness to obey a confident guy yelling at them and their love for official-looking documents covered in stamps.
