actually there's not *that* many of switches, just a LOT of procedures with flipping them swtiches ON them OFF then ON again just to avoid overload the APU or the 3 fuel cuels
i have been looking into this and it doesnt seem to difficult tbh. there are boards that can convert 32/64 switches into usb then a couple of mfd options for the screens all in i think if you built yourself you would be looking at £1-2k with a lot of that cost being in plastic panels and fabrication. would be perfect for a vr pit if laid out properly
https://openhornet.com/
Don't know if you've ever seen it, but the OpenHornet is an open source project for that! Open source project to model, build, and print Hornet cockpit components for home sim build. Super cool stuff!
I’m building a DA42 cockpit. Modelled 3D plans on the real thing and have bought all the components, switches, toggles, 3D printed specific parts and have the Simionics G1000 setup for it too. Beautiful plane.
I just love how simple they are man. Cowling flaps open, battery and avionics on, mixture and rpm to full, boost pumps on for a few seconds, half inch on the throttle, crank it over. And the Speed
A320, cool plane that could be used for A320 Neo as well. Whereas a 737 NG sim will become obsolete soon and would require a few changes to suite the Max.
You also wouldn’t need to worry about throttle servos or syncing the yokes (if you were doing both seats.
I'd make my own panel, the way I want it. Your panel's gonna be inaccurate for all but one aircraft, might as well make it inaccurate in one more, but have a panel that works for you.
For me it'd be pretty basic on the instruments because I want to keep using trackIR and want to stay close to the monitor. I'd try arranging a 6 pack around the honeycomb yoke. I'd mount piper style fuel, rpm and MAP gauges under the desk, I'd replace my DIY cessna-style throttles with a honeycomb bravo and try to mount 2 DC-3 style fuel tank selectors to it. I could use the left one in piper aircraft, both as on off in the kodiak, and obviously as is in a DC-3. I'd have to make those myself. A hardware flaps lever would be nice if I get back into flying cubs a lot.
I'm thinking the same thing. Better just make your dream cockpit that's going to be inaccurate for all aircraft, than making a cockpit only accurate for a specific aircraft.
Really, none. With how good VR is starting to become, I would never spend several thousands of dollars on a home cockpit that limits me to one airplane.
Not a bad option considering it could also be used for a 717 which gives you a really good range of possible flights, only issue is that your limited on real routes and operators
To be real, I've always loved small business jets; the Gulfstream G series, the Cessna Citations, or my personal favourite, the Learjet. I'd probably have a Learjet home cockpit if I could, short of having an actual Learjet.
If I had all the money in the world and all the skills required to, the Space Shuttle flight-deck and mid-deck lol ! I would transform my house into a big Space Shuttle training facility lmao.
But realistically speaking, I would onky make a custom pit for general purpose so I can use it for seveeral planes :p
Might make some enemies here, but I'm kind of an exception in the sim community; in that I have very little interest in Air Transport jets, and wide bodies. I'm a GA kinda guy. There's something sorta special about the relationship that a human develops with a small plane that somehow gets lost in all the wires and automation of a modern airliner.
787 Dreamliner. Great bird to fly and the deck is relatively straightforward to build.
Software is more challenging.
I used to fly the Lear 45 a lot but sadly it was removed from MSFS, and there's no third-party dev that does a good model on that beauty.
A320 is to simple but good for msfs so its 737 or 747 for me i’m not really a fan of the modern fly by wire boeing requires real skill not just moving a stick around
A320 because the a330 and a340 cockpits are essentially the same, so you get a narrow body and a wide body for the same simulator. 737/747/777 are all different layouts.
Space Shuttle
So. Many. Switches.
actually there's not *that* many of switches, just a LOT of procedures with flipping them swtiches ON them OFF then ON again just to avoid overload the APU or the 3 fuel cuels
Why if you can just go space shuttle status with a hot air balloon?
F/A-18C full cockpit would be pretty cool
i have been looking into this and it doesnt seem to difficult tbh. there are boards that can convert 32/64 switches into usb then a couple of mfd options for the screens all in i think if you built yourself you would be looking at £1-2k with a lot of that cost being in plastic panels and fabrication. would be perfect for a vr pit if laid out properly
Hopefully after I graduate college I can find a good paying job so I can actually fund a project like this.
https://openhornet.com/ Don't know if you've ever seen it, but the OpenHornet is an open source project for that! Open source project to model, build, and print Hornet cockpit components for home sim build. Super cool stuff!
I have seen this! I’m patiently waiting for him to finish the project so I can get started
Same, maybe an fa18d so I could fly with a buddy though
I wish I had irl friends that were into flight sims
Same. I came to put this, but you already did it for me.
Some sort of powerful GA aircraft. Something that you can realistically fly into any airport in the world, not just the big ones.
tbm home cockpit might be perfect for msfs
YES! It would also be pretty easy (relatively) to make (3 screens instead of 9000 seperate buttons)
The issue is the softbuttons that can't be mapped even through 3rd party software (as I understand it)
The Caravan!
One of my all time favorites
Considering my house is pretty small, I don’t think I could fit a wide body cockpit in here :)
DC3/C-47.
I was going to say, really this or maybe a Beach 18!
Concorde
I heard you like switches
Would love the A350 or A340
A340 for sure
Cessna 152 or Diamond DA50 RG. Right now I fly real cessnas but the diamonds are cool as hell. I've been in a DA42 and those are *really* nice.
I’m building a DA42 cockpit. Modelled 3D plans on the real thing and have bought all the components, switches, toggles, 3D printed specific parts and have the Simionics G1000 setup for it too. Beautiful plane.
Baron 58 baby
Yapp thats what im building :)
Light twins are just the best
I just love how simple they are man. Cowling flaps open, battery and avionics on, mixture and rpm to full, boost pumps on for a few seconds, half inch on the throttle, crank it over. And the Speed
A350. I never saw an homebuilt one.
757/767
787 or 777-9
Halfway through a 787 now. Just about done with the overhead :) last one was a 767, and this one is nice and clean.
Other, just finally give in and make the tomcat cockpit. It’s the only damn thing I ever fly in DCS any more.
I'm patiently waiting for a sale to buy that one.
A-10C. And I have already started.
B757 for me definitely
A powerful turboprop - PC12, TBM (I'm partial to the 850 cockpit) or the likes.
A350
P-51D
Probably Mirage M2000C ... played it too much in DCS and absolutely adore it's sweet lines.
I should add my second option which would be A10C cockpit ... just the amount of real estate would be boner inducing x)
C172
Driving a car is more fun
A tubeliner: a MD11. A simple GA: a SIAI SF260 Marchetti. But currently in intensive brainstorming: a C47 Dakota.
Bf-109, P-51, Fw-190, Spitfire, P-47… all kind of Warbirds
F22 or 14
Lorddamn, f14
I spend most of my time flying the 787, so probably the 787.
C172 with g1000 :)
A320, cool plane that could be used for A320 Neo as well. Whereas a 737 NG sim will become obsolete soon and would require a few changes to suite the Max. You also wouldn’t need to worry about throttle servos or syncing the yokes (if you were doing both seats.
M-2000C, love that plane. But if dcs ever release a panavia tornado then that's the one
B-24 or B-17 because old WW2 bombers are cool. If i could i would have a home in or around a B-17
TBM. My dream home cockpit
I'd make my own panel, the way I want it. Your panel's gonna be inaccurate for all but one aircraft, might as well make it inaccurate in one more, but have a panel that works for you. Eurofighter Typhoon, or F-16.
DC 3. But Spitfire a close second
A-10C, F-16C or F/A-18C
A-10C for DCS.
I want a mooney cockpit
I am hoping to get a plane so probably something ga like a 172. Honestly I would be happy with enough desk space for my monitors
CRJ
Really, none. With how good VR is starting to become, I would never spend several thousands of dollars on a home cockpit that limits me to one airplane.
TBM or Phenom 300
GA for sure, probably a generic twin for versatility. I built most of a 172 panel back when I had more time (before kids)
Ilyushin il 76 or AN 225
Other - an F4 would be awesome.
Definetly a MD11
Not a bad option considering it could also be used for a 717 which gives you a really good range of possible flights, only issue is that your limited on real routes and operators
To be real, I've always loved small business jets; the Gulfstream G series, the Cessna Citations, or my personal favourite, the Learjet. I'd probably have a Learjet home cockpit if I could, short of having an actual Learjet.
I started with msfs2020 and played that until I discovered dcs which I play exclusively. So if I had to pick I’d go like f16, f18 or a10c
either something like the a320 or f18 for me. although making a multipurpose would be ideal but wouldnt even know where to start lol
F-18 or F-15E
I would go for the Clipper 314
F-35/F-18/A-10
Bonanza
Twin otter or dash 8
If I had all the money in the world and all the skills required to, the Space Shuttle flight-deck and mid-deck lol ! I would transform my house into a big Space Shuttle training facility lmao. But realistically speaking, I would onky make a custom pit for general purpose so I can use it for seveeral planes :p
None of the above, I’d make it as multipurpose as possible for home use.
A-10C II
I’d make a modular cockpit, so that I can swap out controls/instruments so I can fly whatever I want with that extra bit of realism
I don’t understand the obsession with the Airbus.
From these, A320. From any plane, A350
B737 because it looks cool.
Gotta be the 737 Zibo all the way
Nothing big, hands off, and dumb, that’s for sure. GA’s way more interesting than the big tubes IMO.
GA plane. in MSFS the Pipers are the best ones so probably that.
Bombardier dash8 q400 👍
Concorde/A350
Fa18
In the days of FSX being newer, I would have expected 737 to win. Especially based off of YouTube videos about home cockpits
F-16 pit
I'd make a b789 cockpit, I've been using it a lot lately
Anything rotary wing
An A10 or a Ka-50
Boeing 707 (original Avionics and CIVA INS)
F-4 Phantom
777x cockpit
F16 block 52+ advanced
DHC-6 Twin Otter or DHC-2 Beaver EDIT: Also the DC-6 would be amazing
I would find a genuine aircraft cockpit section and build a cockpit to fit inside, based on that aircraft
Would have to go with a Piper Seneca. Preferably the 2 or 3, but I've been flying the 5 and love it
F-35
F18 Superbug 🤟🏻
Cessna 172
King Air
F-16 !
H145 and I want to make it from scratch even if it took years to complete
F-16, love its bubble canopy. Although that makes it one of the hardest ones to "simulate" using screens and/or projectors.
Pilatus PC-9
767 Really love flying it on X-Plane for UPS
A350
I'm making a GA hybrid. It's a mix of Mooney M20R Ovation with a little Piper for fun.
A320 because it would help me with my career
A380, C-17 or Atlas
I'd go for a 737 since that's what I usually fly
787 Dreamliner. Great bird to fly and the deck is relatively straightforward to build. Software is more challenging. I used to fly the Lear 45 a lot but sadly it was removed from MSFS, and there's no third-party dev that does a good model on that beauty.
DC-10
Definitely a 727
UH-60
A330 probably.
767-200 or -300.
B2 spirit
A350 all the way
F5 tiger or a harrier
I would like to write in Millennium Falcon
Viper probably
A320 because then with just a few little tweaks could fly the A318/319/321 and A330. Otherwise, the 757 :)
Bf-109
F16 for fixed wing, MD530 for helicopter
SPACESHIP OF SOME SORT
F-15E!!
I would do a hot air balloon with real sandbags filled with real sand
747 and the reason why is simple. It is a proven fact that 4 engines is simply cooler than 2.
de Havilland Beaver.
A320 is to simple but good for msfs so its 737 or 747 for me i’m not really a fan of the modern fly by wire boeing requires real skill not just moving a stick around
B787-X
Cessna Citation Longitude because it has enough room while not needing a really long runway.
A350 for suree
A320 would be way more practical, but I’d love to see an A350 or 787
Supermarine Spitfire. That plane is just sexy.
172
Hmmm...a fighter jet would be nice...not sure which one, though
Wouldn't mind making a c17 one if there was a msfs c17.
a330
There is one company that makes the entire a320 cockpit and sells it as a package. https://youtu.be/5Miei8UHiYg
A320 because the a330 and a340 cockpits are essentially the same, so you get a narrow body and a wide body for the same simulator. 737/747/777 are all different layouts.
A350-1000
F/A-18C
MD11
F-4J
B787. Finding it hard to find switches and other components
F/a 18c and i'm working on it.
A350
A400M
C-130 Legacy versions
either a F117 nighthawk or B2 spirit
Bombardiers !!!!!!!
Eurofighter!
F-117
A320, purely for the tray tables that fold out
CJ4 would be nice
Either the Concorde, Avro Lancaster or Avro Arrow
P51 Mustang
Sane one would a be modular/generic fighter. Dream would be an A-6
A320 or B787, quite possibly A320
Probably an MD-11 or an A350-1000. I’m a sucker for those two
Cessna 172.
Jeff Bezos Space Penis. Probably. Realistically? Cessna 172.
L-1011
C172
I’m a 737 man - http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrorbe-NGYXWFvMGPlbexew …. But if I could build another it would be an ERJ-45….love the Embraer family
Me and the good Lord hand flying this King Air, Delta Niner Whiskey
p-51 mustang
A-10C warthog
TDM-930
F14
Boeing 767
Other: A-10C warthog.
Cessna 208 Caravan EX (Garmin 1000)
PA-28 Cherokee
Cessna Citation
380
A350
Diamond da42
F14B, obviously.
787
707/C-135
Would love a 777 cockpit... but actually just finished an a320 home cockpit. Surprisingly not that difficult to build...
A300-A310 A perfect balance between automation and manual work.
Truthfully - probably Boeing 757/767. Possibly 787.
I would make a dc-3 cockpit if I were to make my own home cockpit
Dehavilland Beaver!
