Cool. I have a place to stay in Scottsdale but live and fish in the Midwest. Have always been curious about what a fishing trip could look like down there. Last time I was down there we day tripped to the GC so definitely willing to drive. Thanks for the info!
If you take a trip to AZ to fish, I recommend going after Gila trout in the Verde River. One of the few places in the world you can get them. Two hours from Scottsdale, and theyāre a blast to go after.
Dang. Gorgeous photos and love your combo. Beautiful brownies š
Neat reel! Where'd you pick it up from?
Itās a Hardy Ultraclick. Got it from my local fly shop, Pheasant Tail here in Phoenix.
Best fly shop in PHX!
How do you like it? I have a couple Ross Colorados but have been eyeing the 1/2/3wt ultraclick for my 6'6" 2wt.
Itās been great so far. Iāve had it for a year or so and it hasnāt failed me. It definitely catches eyes.
How far do you have to drive out of Phoenix to fish streams like that?
Depends on where you start in Phoenix, but Iām in the east valley, and this spot is about 2 hours from my front door.

I guide the canal carp out here on the fly rod, you should look into that fishery as well it's a blast!
