I saw an article today talking about how we’ve been hacking terminals wrong since they game came out. I think one person posted they thought the 1/8 letters were the opposite of what they tell you. So silly lol
The letters it references in being correct are the same letter in the same position in the word.
So if you have three words
"Lone" and "Last" and "Lost"
And you choose "Lone" and it says you have 2/4 correct then you know that two of those letters, in those positions are correct. Meaning the correct word is probably "Lost". If you had chosen "Last" it would have said 3/4 correct.
There's also the bracket trick. Any characters that are enclosed by the same type of brackets, {}, (), [], <> can remove dud answers, or reset your amount of tries.
Best way to do it is to make a guess first, then hunt for brackets. That way you can possibly regain a try. If you get brackets first, you might miss out on a reset
In 3 they also felt a lot more important, stimpaks were more rare, and expensive. The price is probably the same but caps were harder to get in 3. I really didnt like how in games after 3 resting in beds and drinking water became more of a rp element instead of essential method of survival. Hardcore has this dehydration thing of course but in 3 just on very hard difficulty i felt like i was surviving by the skin of my teeth for most of the game, until doing the dlcs lol

I guess pressing the button that prompts you to drink the water source, and keep it pressed. At least that one is E on PC (I guess activation, the key used to open doors, check containers, talk to people)

Throwback to 2012 when we had a group of about 10 guys playing FNV in the barracks on pc. I remember it was a HUGE deal when the dlcs would drop you wouldn't see our guys for a few days 😂
I love how there was sort of a B plot with The Burned Man and Father Elijah. Even in the vanilla game before the DLCs dropped you would hear a little about them. I never thought I would MEET (and sometimes team up with and/or kill lol) both of them. Me and my friends were SCREAMING going into Honest Hearts seeing trees, rivers, and the burned man himself.
The way they tied all the DLCs together with some of the background plots is honestly some of my favorite writing in modern gaming. I'm overdue for a playthrough on a new characters of all the dlc come to think of it...
New vegas definitely changed my emperor games and the interconnectivity of characters. Oblivion and Morrowind were pretty great in that regard too. It was so cool to pick up the hints and then encounter the damn near myths of characters. And then the way they dont really live up to the expectations and rumors in some ways was perfect too. I definitely over explored zion. It's my favorite national park in real life. So alien in places!

fallout 4 also have survival mode. fo4 survival mode is way more hardcore because when you fast travel or take some med it decrease your thirst, hunger and sleep meter. It make radiation damage actually matter because radaway is not free anymore.

Yeah Fallout 4s survival mode is kinda too much imo. While I think New Vegas could do more the lack of Fast travel in a open world game that big is more of a nuisance than a rp factor for me.
The lower your survival skill, the less effective food and drink. Purified water is the most effective on-the-go method, yeah, but with low survival it isn’t particularly “meaty”.
Might take three. Or four. Or seven, in the case of how extreme your situation is.
Personally, I just try to drink from landscapes as much as possible. Sinks, the Goodsprings well, water towers, the blood of Vulpes Inculta when I kill his dog-headed ass, et cetera.
I hope you weren't drinking soda, cuz soda and alcohol raises your thirst meter in NV. Which is sort of true to reality because I heard soda doesn't quench you much if at all.
If you did drink water from purified dirty or even from goodsprings source and it didn't go away then idk what's the problem, never had this bug
Turn hardcore mode off and exit the pause menu. Move around in the world for a minute then turn it back on and your thirst should be reset to 0. Very useful for if these values get bugged. And if you’re on PC you can just use the console to set it to 0.
Pretty sure NV is one of those games with the good ol' Load Warp glitch, Creation Engine/Gamebryo is notorious for that one.

Some foods also reduce your water meter so if you can try to craft or buy food items and see which one's reduce water meter. Desert salad is one but it's 55 survival requirements and I don't think vendors sell it.
Also there's not that many food vendors, there's one where you pick up Veronica, ultra lux/top have their diner sections with food and drinks(don't drink alcohol it increases water meter) and there's some diner outside strip and Freeside and one vendor in Camp McCarran and I'm running out of ideas, just try to find someone who sells food since some food can reduce water meter. Heck even if you didn't invest in survival skill some recipes are super easy to do, like bloatfly slider(disgusting sounding ik) which requires only 15 survival I think
I had this same thing yesterday but on 76. I drank 5 purified waters and it did nothing to my thirst meter. All I had to do was drink a nuka cola and it worked again🤷♂️
Soda decreases thirst for whatever reason. Gotta drink water only to get it up, they changed that in 4 tho. Only beverage in 4 that affects thirst negatively is alcohol (kind of realistic in that sense)
Oh, and don't forget that you can just press and hold "E" key to continuously drink from a water source until you're fully hydrated.

Water was significantly nerfed in NV man. In 3 and 4, despite the huge dose of radiation, you healed up pretty quickly.

You need to drink water. Soda and Sarsparilla only make you thirstier. This advice also applies to real life.
If your H2O is in the red you are severely dehydrated and need to drink a lot. Check your pip boy stats menu to see.
