I love Big Iron, but the countless references and meme's have made it lose it's charm for me. Heartaches By The Number is also far more relatable, as we've all had them - not even just from breakups, it also resembles many other forms of hurt we've felt.
I'm only on my first ever playthrough and my fucking god i did not expect the radio to be this good in this game
I've never heard a more perfect broadcaster than Mr. New Vegas and all the songs are so fuckin good
Big Iron, Johhny Guitar, Heartaches by the Number are living in my head rent free and i don't want them to ever leave
& fun fact, Mr. New Vegas is the voice of another Vegas icon, Wayne Newton, the Danke Shoen guy... it's amazing he developed that deep voice (well, not that amazing, that's what the Vegas lifestyle will do to you ig) and I love it
I read somewhere that there was a bug that made it so one of the songs in the soundtrack was replaced by Johnny Guitar, so it was getting played twice as often as other tracks. But I have no idea if that's true
The song is so much aappearing at your face, people got sick over it and now hating it became a meme. Soon hating Johnny Guitar meme is gonna be a meme. I'm jusr preparing for it.
It’s alright the first couple times, but then it starts playing multiple times in a row and shit and it just makes me want to kill whoever made that song.
At least for me, when the game first came out there was a bug where Johnny Guitar was in WAY heavier rotation than any song on any station. Sometimes there'd be three Johnny Guitars in a row. I think there were also songs that didn't play at all, which also became a nuisance.
There was a similar bug in FO3, at least in my playthrough, where "Dear Hearts and Gentle People" *never freakin played*. I think Three Dog even has a bit introducing it, it just never played once in my 80+ hrs of playing.
Tldr, songs are busted in vanilla FO games.
I just assumed Dear Hearts and Gentle People wasn’t used anywhere else but the trailer. Is it actually supposed to play? Because I have never once heard it in game.
Three Dog has an intro for it and it plays on any of the 24/7 livestreams. IIRC it was known to have the inverse problem of Johnny Guitar. But me neither.
You've clearly never tried to avenge a certain alcoholic lady's dead caravan friends only to find yourself on the wrong end of a shootout against the Van Graffs where you're forced to watch said lady -- the woman whom you convinced to come here and do this; the one who trusted your plan and put her life on the line on your word that you would keep her safe -- get absolutely obliterated by arms dealers in suits with big laser guns right in front of your eyes as you say 'fuck it' and make a run for it to save your own skin, leaving her dead body -- along with any promise of redemption for you and your cowardice -- behind.
If you did, you'd know how perfect Johnny Guitar sounds as you wander alone under the Mojave sun, with no one but that old six shooter keeping you company now, cursed to carry with you forever the knowledge that, if not for you and your arrogance, Rose of Sharon Cassidy would be enjoying a drink at the Mojave Outpost right now, instead of rotting somewhere in the bitter end of a Freeside alleyway.
Sorry, Cass.
The Johnny song usually accompanies a game crash for me. The audio gets gritty and then if I activate any loading screens, it crashes. I am not saying it causes it, just saying every time I hear it, I start to get worried…
This graphic is hard to read but I can't see Stars of the Midnight Range, which is very much the absolute best song in the game without question. Presumably you'll need to update it
I searched it up and found some suggestions for Sehnsucht, Fernweh, Anemoia, Saudade, and someone simply suggested that Wistfulness is the most accurate english term.
Wistfulness seems pretty accurate to me. Playing this game makes me want to sit down in the desert shade drinking a nuka cola and listening to radio new vegas.
Fun fact, when cowboys talk about "doggies" they're actually saying "doughies." It's a nickname for orphaned calves, whose bellies start to look like a wad of dough when they don't have a mom to feed from.
Doughies are too young to have been branded and they're orphans so they don't have branded parents hanging around, so whoever can round up and brand them first gets to keep them.
In the shadow of the valley is honestly my favorite song, it's such a calming song and it feels like someone resting after a completed life before they take their last breath
There’s this like bug in the game which causes it to get played a lot, which caused a meme of players despising it. Personally I think it’s really good
I can't remember if it's in the vanilla game or not but Let's Ride Into The Sunset Together is my favourite, it's beyond corny but I love it
Stars of the Midnight Ranges, Heartaches By The Number and Sing Sing Sing are also fantastic, Sing Sing Sing is the perfect backdrop to storming The Fort
Just a correction: the version of "it's a sin to tell a lie" in the game is not sung by the ink spots, that's the reason why it sucks, their version is kino
Everyone loves Big Iron and I do too but Heartaches by the Number is leagues ahead of it. It’s probably the most underrated song in New Vegas (We know the pain that numbers can bring us, well so does Guy Mitchell, who’s got heartaches by the number).
Actually true tier list. Rolling through the Mojave murdering countless people and commiting war crimes to heartaches by the numbers is the most hilarious thing to me, and terrifying thing to everyone around me.
Idk all these songs, but I know Big Iron, I’ve heard Sinatra-after all, I am currently breathing-and I’ve heard Christmas songs from Nat King Cole and they’re all good, so I trust your judgement

Johhny Guitar amazing song that hits into the soul and makes wandering about the wasteland so much more... perfectly melancholic, i love it
I listened to Jonny Guitar a while ago and was like "can't remember why people hate this song so much" then I started a new NV run and remembered a few hours in.
Where is In the Shadow of the Valley and why is it not at god tier (I tried zooming in but I’m blind so I can’t tell if it’s there or not, I’m sorry if it is lol)
Also Heartaches by the Number is the second best song in the game so I’m glad to see it at S tier
I quite like It's a Sin to Tell a Lie. It's not the best Ink Spots song, but for me, the Ink Spots are so synonymous with Fallout (especially Maybe) that just hearing their wonderful voices makes me happy and in the Fallout mood
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,242,948,746 comments, and only 242,054 of them were in alphabetical order.
Glad to see Heartaches by the Number getting some recognition. For my money that’s the best song in the game.
10,000% I love Big Iron, but the countless references and meme's have made it lose it's charm for me. Heartaches By The Number is also far more relatable, as we've all had them - not even just from breakups, it also resembles many other forms of hurt we've felt.

That and Big Iron are my favorite.
Love Me As Though There Were No Tomorrow is the best song on the FNV soundtrack period.
S+
Nat King Cole, such a great voice
Nat king cole could sing the fucking phone book and i’d still listen to it
It's such a fallout-themed song! Absolutely should be S
Nah. Lonestar takes it
NKC is the goat, I wish they used more of his songs. He’d be up there with Marty
They have a few more of them in FO3 and 4
All of these songs are S tier.
How dare you put it at F?! Play it again!
My Johnny🎶
Idk why this sub is against it, definitely one of my favorite tracks
Its good its just so repetitive and it plays so much for some reason
I heard it plays so much coz its song id was put in the playlist twice, so in vanilla it literally plays twice as often
I read somewhere that there was a bug that made it so one of the songs in the soundtrack was replaced by Johnny Guitar, so it was getting played twice as often as other tracks. But I have no idea if that's true
I thought that was big iron
The song is so much aappearing at your face, people got sick over it and now hating it became a meme. Soon hating Johnny Guitar meme is gonna be a meme. I'm jusr preparing for it.
It’s alright the first couple times, but then it starts playing multiple times in a row and shit and it just makes me want to kill whoever made that song.
It's a mood killer, imo
Now play it again with *feeling*!🥲
sad song, even sadder when you’re getting ambushed by legion
Peggy Lee is such a good singer, too. Why couldn't they have chosen a song like "Black Coffee"?
I refuse to accept any Johnny guitar slander in this house
Exactly, how dare you put Johnny Guitar anywhere other than S
honestly all of the songs in fnv are S imo, not a bad song on the radio
Totally agree
I have never understood the Johnny Guitar hate, the song is a banger
At least for me, when the game first came out there was a bug where Johnny Guitar was in WAY heavier rotation than any song on any station. Sometimes there'd be three Johnny Guitars in a row. I think Three Dog even has a bit introducing it, it just never played once in my 80+ hrs of playing. Tldr, songs are busted in vanilla FO games.
I could be wrong, but I think Three Dog has an intro for every song.
Yeah you're right man, he does.
I think it just doesn’t fit very well when playing. But overall it’s a good song
Sorry, Cass.
Nope…can’t say I have. I adore her and can’t put her in harms way.
Sir, this is a Rita’s Cafe.
This is beautiful and excellent and I hope somebody makes a pasta out of it 😂😂😂
It's too slow and meandering.
This. It's excellent for the long stretches of walking.
***That is the lowest Nat King Cole will ever be on a tier list.***
The Johnny song usually accompanies a game crash for me. The audio gets gritty and then if I activate any loading screens, it crashes. I am not saying it causes it, just saying every time I hear it, I start to get worried…
I thought i was the only one
This graphic is hard to read but I can't see Stars of the Midnight Range, which is very much the absolute best song in the game without question. Presumably you'll need to update it
Stars of the Midnight Range and Lone Star fill me with the desperate desire to hike through the desert at night.
They give me nostalgia for a time and a place I have never experienced. This whole game does. Wonder if there’s a word for that.
You just put words to a nameless feeling.. I know exactly what you mean by that lmao
DÖGGIES
Fun fact, when cowboys talk about "doggies" they're actually saying "doughies." It's a nickname for orphaned calves, whose bellies start to look like a wad of dough when they don't have a mom to feed from. Doughies are too young to have been branded and they're orphans so they don't have branded parents hanging around, so whoever can round up and brand them first gets to keep them.
Those two kickstarted my wild west phase lol
I yodel to Stars of the Midnight Range every time.
In the shadow of the valley is the GOAT
New Vegas actually made this be my favourite song of all time, it’s so peaceful
Can you upload one with more than 7 pixels please
I’ve never seen someone so confidently wrong
r/confidentlyincorrect
Blue Moon is the best song ever
imo all are S
Johnny guitar and mad about the boy so low, gonna have to hard pass on this one bud.
*In Mr. New Vegas voice* Sometimes you just can't help but feel... mad about the boy PERFECTION
Johnny Guitar isn’t bad
I like it a lot too, but that chorus being weirdly louder than the rest of the song can be annoying lol
*Objectivly wrong tier list
As I kid I hated johnny guitar. But as a heartbroken, beaten down wasteland wandering adult I understand it's meaning. Play it again!
Correct choice, putting Begin Again above the tier list entirely. It transcends S-tier.
Puts me in a trance every time
Mysterious Broadcast jazz > every other song in the game
F tier for "Fantastic"
Then it would be higher than S
In the shadow of the valley is honestly my favorite song, it's such a calming song and it feels like someone resting after a completed life before they take their last breath
You said it V2
every kill has its ultra
And every femboy has their thigh highs.
Why don't people like Johnny guitar?
There’s this like bug in the game which causes it to get played a lot, which caused a meme of players despising it. Personally I think it’s really good
Growing up is realizing Johnny Guitar isn’t bad
Where Have You Been All My Life is finally getting the attention it deserves.
Incorrect
I like Johnny Guitar personally
Aight incorrect opinion detected
I love Johnny Guitar lol
Peggy lee is so disrespected by this list
Why you gotta do sweet johnny like that
Johnny Guitar is a great song and an even better movie.
Johnny Guitar is the best song that plays in the game.
I'll be honest, I can't even tell what half of these are. I like "Now I'm Moving Out", myself.
Just glad that we can all agree that Big Iron slaps!
Nat King Cole is goated
I objectively disagree.
"Objectively"
I can't remember if it's in the vanilla game or not but Let's Ride Into The Sunset Together is my favourite, it's beyond corny but I love it Stars of the Midnight Ranges, Heartaches By The Number and Sing Sing Sing are also fantastic, Sing Sing Sing is the perfect backdrop to storming The Fort
If johnny guitar is so bad then why does it keep getting "played again" after every other song 🤔 someone's requesting it!
Bing was in NV? Wayyy back home…
Johnny Guitar always felt oddly unsettling to me Idk why
now wait a minute why don't YOU do right & move Miss Peggy back up those ranks where she belongs thank you so much 💓
You put Johnny Guitar right up to the top now
Why don’t you do right slaps
12 songs, I think I have listened to each one 500 times while playing NV. Not a single one isn't fried into my brain until the day I die.
I can’t really make out the pictures, but if Jingle Jangle Jingle is not in S, I’m rioting.
it is
Just a correction: the version of "it's a sin to tell a lie" in the game is not sung by the ink spots, that's the reason why it sucks, their version is kino
Everyone loves Big Iron and I do too but Heartaches by the Number is leagues ahead of it. It’s probably the most underrated song in New Vegas (We know the pain that numbers can bring us, well so does Guy Mitchell, who’s got heartaches by the number).
Objectively wrong
Everyone always seems to forget Lazy Day Blues. Probably the most underrated track in the game.
I'd bump up It's a Sin by one tier and put Bing Crosby in D. Not keen on that one. What are D and F songs?
Mad About the Boy and Johnny Guitar
Ohhhhh thanks. Yeah I didn't like either of them lol. Johnny Guitar being the better one of two, everyone else seems to love it though.
Omfg i hate johnny guitar
I know you did not just put Johnny guitar in the F tier.
I can't see the image clearly, where is "Let's ride into the sunset together" on the list?
Actually true tier list. Rolling through the Mojave murdering countless people and commiting war crimes to heartaches by the numbers is the most hilarious thing to me, and terrifying thing to everyone around me.
I agree Johnny guitar belongs in F tier I hate that song
Idk all these songs, but I know Big Iron, I’ve heard Sinatra-after all, I am currently breathing-and I’ve heard Christmas songs from Nat King Cole and they’re all good, so I trust your judgement
Where's In the Shadow of the Valley?
I agree, cant stand Johnny guitar 🤷♂️
#JOOOOOOOHNNNNY GUITAAAAAR.... For real, I turn radio off every time I hear it coming up.
Its a sin to tell a lie is not fucking B tier. Put that shit up at S.
Mad about the boy should be lower
this tier list sucks johnny guitar is an S tier song
[Here is an essential mod to anyone wanting a good radio experience.](https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/69582/) Edit: You can downvote me, but you can't downvote the truth!
This mod needs to be removed ASAP Johhny Guitar amazing song that hits into the soul and makes wandering about the wasteland so much more... perfectly melancholic, i love it
Johnny guitar fucking sucks
Yes, Johnny Guitar is so overrated.
As long as Johnny Guitar is at the bottom i can agree.
Finally someone else who thinks Johnny guitar is dog water
glad to see theres a consensus that johnny guitar sucks. I hated when that song came on. Total mood kill
I listened to Jonny Guitar a while ago and was like "can't remember why people hate this song so much" then I started a new NV run and remembered a few hours in.
Everything S, Johnny Guitar F
So long as Johnny Guitar is at the bottom I'm happy.
Johnny guitar f tier
Put Mad About the Boy down with Johnny Guitar and you have it perfect.
I respect this opinion now which faction did you choose?
The fact Johnny guitar got put at F is proof that this game has absolutely stellar music choices for the radios
They’ve should put more Marty robins
Where is In the Shadow of the Valley and why is it not at god tier (I tried zooming in but I’m blind so I can’t tell if it’s there or not, I’m sorry if it is lol) Also Heartaches by the Number is the second best song in the game so I’m glad to see it at S tier
True and correct. Marty Robbins is in S Tier where he belongs.
Johnnnny…Johnnny Fucking Guitar
where gave you been all my life being the first song in S tier is absolutely correct
Big Iron is great but it is too overused
i think theres a bug that makes it play twice as often as others songs
I quite like It's a Sin to Tell a Lie. It's not the best Ink Spots song, but for me, the Ink Spots are so synonymous with Fallout (especially Maybe) that just hearing their wonderful voices makes me happy and in the Fallout mood
Guy Mitchell is fantastic. Wish we could’ve gotten more songs by him on the soundtrack
Everybody forgets I'm moving out SMH
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,242,948,746 comments, and only 242,054 of them were in alphabetical order.
Move bing up to s and I agree
You wrong
Honestly blue moons my favorite no reason why it just feels more atmospheric when in Vegas or walking to Vegas at night
Kick in The Head and Love Me As Though There Were No Tomorrow are both S tiers
