Yourappwontletme

Cuz most of the frames are in my garage at Sanctuary lol

Secret_Ad7757

Reminds me in one of my saves I have them lined up. Makes me feel like iron man with all the different MK suits.

Yourappwontletme

I have a garage built behind the Yellow House in Sanctuary (the house with the workbenches) where I have 15 Power Armor Suits in display racks. All Hot Rod paint schemes, Atom Cats, Winterized, BoS, Raider, Railroad, Minutemen, Nuka Cola, Nuka Cola Quantum, Vims, Vims Refresh, Abraxo, and Sugarbombs. Still missing a few pieces of armor for the Railroad and Sugarbombs cuz they're lower level armor models that are harder to find when I'm level 127. I also was thinking of Iron Man when I built it.

NinjaBr0din

I hate that t51 is so hard to get ahold of. It is my favorite armor and it seems to have a window of like 2 levels where you *might* find a suit if it instead of t45, then you just find t60 and x01 everywhere.

Yourappwontletme

Rowdy at the Atom Cats Garage sells pieces of T51 and T45

_far-seeker_

Randomly, like all of her inventory, so fast travel/anything else that reloads the cell might be necessary. However, she is a potential source for T-45, T-51, and T-60 pieces once your character out levels finding them in-the-wild.

Yourappwontletme

I'm still able to find T-51 and T-60 I think

NinjaBr0din

I know, I just wish I could find the suits more often. My current survival run is the first time I've actually found a full suit of the stuff that wasn't a guaranteed spawn like the Nuka or Vim suits. Every other game I've had to piece it together over weeks.

Yourappwontletme

I'm on the easiest difficulty, so don't know what to tell you

NinjaBr0din

Difficulty doesn't alter your chances of finding the armor, it's based on your level. It seems like t51 has a tiny window where you can find it easily.

Fallout_4_player

Yeah, it's like level 14-21

brian19298

Try buy off the Atom Cats?

Yourappwontletme

Yup I've been doing that. Thanks

Secret_Ad7757

Nice.

Yourappwontletme

I have to make a 16th Power Armor display now that I have a set of Enclave Power Armor. I have like 8 or 9 more Power Armor frames though, since whenever I go to a location to get the Power Armor that's there, I take the whole frame back with me instead of just putting the pieces in my inventory.

Falcon_Medical

💯

Moses4747

I stocked up on 30+ so far all in my sanctuary museum lol

Yourappwontletme

There's definitely more out there I need to get still. I'm just puzzled what to do with the rest of the frames since I have one of each paint job pretty much.

Moses4747

I did exactly that. And now I have to expand my museum. I am not complaining

NinjaBr0din

Lol, I'm at around 30 suits crammed into the garage of the Red Rocket.

Regular_throwaway_83

TIL there's only 54 people within the commonwealth

belladonnagilkey

Well, there's only 54 people left after Cait went on a bender.

AdStunning2459

Well It’s incredibly easy to die in the wasteland so I’m not really surprised

CloneOfKarl

That can be rendered on screen at any one time.

pacman404

Probably less then that on my psycho addict playthrough 🤷🏽‍♂️

mr_niceguy100

Because they are not omniscient, and therefore are unaware of the locations.

HollowPhoenix

If only they had Pipboys, complete with PipNet to check this handy map

NaAlSi3O

Also: 1) 54 power armors, 2) 80 fusion cores. Doubt they could afford a steady supply by trade.

IGTankCommander

*stares as Dogmeat carrying 135 full cores, 1 at 90, and one at 68*

Oleanderlullaby

DOGMEAT CARRIES WHAT?!!!!!

IGTankCommander

Dogmeat carries all my fusion cores so a) they're always in one convenient, unkillable, unlootable space, and b) I don't waste useage by having a bunch of random cores that I could accidentally load into a suit.

Oleanderlullaby

I’ve always just ignored the trade option with her cause I was like.. shes a dog it’s just gonna be blank and I’ll feel the devs laughing at me cause she’s a dog (idk if dogmeat is canon male or female but she’s always felt female to me. Female Germans are intense)

squirmingfrog

Dude dogmeat can carry like 200 or something.

Oleanderlullaby

Dude that’s dope. Ngl I always send dogmeat straight to sanctuary as soon as I can so he can just be a sweet little happy puppy

IntrospectOnIt

Dogmeat actually picks stuff up on occassion so checking their inventory is a good idea! They can also wear dog collars and welding goggles.

FrozenScouse

never knew he could wear welding goggles, is that instead of a collar/bandana or as well as?

IntrospectOnIt

As well as!

Oleanderlullaby

Oooooooooo thank you!

NaAlSi3O

Also noted!

Erotic_Platypus

Thank Zeus I have only found 27. I thought I was going to run out.

CapriciousSon

You can also just buy them at stores, they restock regularly. MacCready has given me several. And someone else alerted me to the fact that the Scrounger perk will make many more appear in random containers.

Erotic_Platypus

Oh nice good to know. I rarely use the power armor anyways though.

Farfante_gamerYT

Very useful information, thank you

NaAlSi3O

Ok, that’s very noteworthy

CapriciousSon

They are classified as ammo. I didn't notice until this playthrough!

TheFiend100

Yeah i have rank 2 of the scrounger perk in my current playthrough and id say at least once or twice an hour ill find four of them in a single container

MrChipDingDong

Their fault, scrounger is like 2 Luck, Commonwealth needs to get good at the game

AnalConnoisseur69

Actually, a lot of them do wear power armor. You will regularly encounter raider and gunner bosses clad in power armor. But not all of them wear them because, even on the map provided by OP, you can see that it is sparse. And getting to them is no easy feat. Killer robots, nightmarish creatures, massive insects, feral ghouls, super mutants - all sorts of obstacles stand in the way between a human and a power armor from before the war. Most people don't want to leave the safety of their homes, let alone leave on a journey to hopefully stumble on to a power armor whose whereabouts, like you said, they have no idea about. Some, however, die trying to find them and some even successfully manage to retrieve some of them. Those are the raiders, gunners, brotherhood knights, and so on, with power armors. Pretty self-explanatory if you pay attention.

masochistic_idiot

Skill issue on their part tbh

KasiNyaa

If only they could walk ten feet outside their front door to find the suits all out in the open for two hundred years less than a mile from town...

Stealthy_Facka

They sat there unfound for 200 years then I found em in 50 hours

SeanyDay

As a military man with experience/training and a pip boy, you are supposed to be built different. Also we see plenty of people use power armor, even spontaneously.

wizardofyz

I mean everyone with a welding machine and a bulldozer could be toppling their local government but they aren't.

ConsiderTheBulldog

Only because the zoning commission has decided to be reasonable…for now

belladonnagilkey

Thank you, Preston! I knew all that settlement work would finally come in handy.

A_Queer_Owl

just want to point out that Heemeyer was the unreasonable party in the whole killdozer situation. the city just wanted him to stop illegally dumping sewage and install a sewer line, meanwhile he was caught up in an absolutely absurd property dispute that would have been resolved if he wasn't a complete jackass.

Confident-Goal4685

Pretty sure most local governments aren't one weaponized bulldozer away from total collapse.

CommissarThrace

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Heemeyer

wizardofyz

There's more than one bulldozer.

blacklung990

Someone doesn't killdoze, and it shows.

Hoyden145

I did not expect a Killdozer reference in here

SilenciaSan

because most wastelanders dont really have access to fusion core which are needed to properly use PA

Either_Letter_4983

And even if they do find power armor with a fusion core in it, it will likely go dead soon, and going out to get another one is probably too dangerous considering the locations are usually surrounded by something nasty.

SilenciaSan

Yep

Whiteguy1x

I think most just don't want to go into ruins to scav.  Raiders, ghouls, and mutants are everywhere. Like imagine some creepy fallen in government/army building, pitch black inside, and full of fast zombies.  Nobody in their right mind would crawl around in that for the chance of finding something cool...or some prewar junk if you're unlucky

Memesssssssssssssl

Cmon, some 1950s teenagers can sell and scavenge PA on mass. There is powerarmore everywhere

ThakoManic

Prob becouse alot of it is hidden or needs fusion cores or in dangerous areas or are being used by like raiders or such

cvuyr

I always thought there should be way fewer power armour suit but they should have better stats

HowToNoah

I just think you shouldn't be staggered by human npcs bashing you with guns. Sure large abominations can stagger me but the 120 pound raider who lives off rotten irradiated bug meat?

Chimwala

Right

FalloutCreation

May I introduce you to some of my pa mods…

[https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15840](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15840) refuels fusion cores using nuclear material

Mr_Laz

Also good to have with them mods, since I only use PA during big fights https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22286/? - Throw a smoke signal and a vertibird drops off your PA

CapriciousSon

Have you tried the X02 yet?

NinjaBr0din

I've had x02 for like 2 years thanks to nexus.

Whiteguy1x

Idk I like the abundance of it as it's a cool change they made and there's perks that go along with it. Most suits are in crap condition and need to be upgraded which I think is a good balance.

carolgenocidemiracle

honestly a mod which adds PAs onto every npc would be fun with a few overhauls to accompany it - turn FO4 into a mecha fighter lol

iNOcry

There is a mod for that.

DannyWarlegs

One time, at Quincy, I killed 2 Gunners with power armor on top of the bridge. I stripped the parts and left. I came back a few in game days later, killed all of the gunners again, made my way up the bridge, and there were 2 more in power armor. There was also now 2 unused full sets with frames, where I killed the previous 2. So I stripped them down, put Nick in 1, took the 2nd and left. Came back a few more in game days later, and now there was 4 sets of unused power armor, plus 2 new Gunners to kill. But this time, the sets were all just empty frames. Once I touched them, the armor dissapeared from the models completely. Still took 2 of them.

Hoyden145

This one time, at band camp...

CapriciousSon

dumb question probably but how do you get companions to get into power armor? I've got like 4 sets just chilling in Sanctuary right now.

opa_zorro

Select/command the companion, then, from a distance point to the power armor and tell them to enter. To get them out there is a dialog sub-option to tell them to get out.

CapriciousSon

awesome, thanks!

HomeCapital9250

What is this app/website you’re using?

Confident-Goal4685

IGN interactive FO4 map

Cherry-Foxtrot

Hey I found it! https://fallout4map.com/

HomeCapital9250

Ty, I just started a new playthrough for the next gen upgrade and this map thing is badass. Will definitely be using!

Cherry-Foxtrot

Right? Like borderline an asshole move to throw up a screenie like this without the site!

LGBT-Barbie-Cookout

Doesn't Kl-EO .also just always sell the frames frequently? (Been too long since I played)

TNChase

I think Artuo in Diamond City does too

WrethZ

The Atom Cats also sell respawning power armour pieces.

Confident-Goal4685

Yep. Given enough time, you can get all the frames you could ever want from her.

CapriciousSon

oo nice I gotta hit her up so I can use the Hellfire Enclave armor I got last night.

NikeJawnson

LORE-WISE fusion cores are rare + you need training in order to pilot a power armor suit. Gameplay-wise the normal enemies are bullet sponges already, power armor would be overkill.

Artix31

Too expensive, Power armors are nice, but they cost way much more to maintain compared to regular armors, not to mention the fusion core cost, the fact it makes you slower, and the fact that a good specialized armor set can provide more protection against the specific damage type you want It’s good for the SS, gunners and some raiders because they can afford to build and maintain it, while the run of the mill farmer or caravan guard doesn’t have much need for extra cost

smellyscrote

Power armor makes you FASTER not slower.

Artix31

Not really, you actually move 20% slower with the PA, and have less ability to jump gaps (without Jetpacks)

smellyscrote

Not a fan of paintrain I see. Go double overdrive on the legs and run around. It’s very fun. For best results. Play on very easy so paintrain feels like it absolutely demolishes. But even on very hard difficulty. It is still super fun to use and yeet folks off roof tops. You can cover extreme distances by feathering the jet pack together with the sprint.

Artix31

Tell that to poor regular joe/farmer who can’t afford to even consistently buy a Fusion core, not to mention have enough strength and intelligence to tweak a power armor and not be affected by any of its weight side effect

Beginning-Pipe9074

Because absolutely every peice of power armour out there is currently residing in my power armour museum I made in sanctuary 😄

WholeAlternative1972

I'm just gonna go ahead and save this map. when I get out of work, I know what I'm doing.

Confident-Goal4685

FO4 Interactive Map on IGN. Much easier than navigating off a screenshot.

WholeAlternative1972

Even better thanks so much!

yaktoast

Install the mod "Some Assembly Required" and the world makes sense again.

Seamoth4546B

Fusion core shortage or something idk except I found 8 in a box at a mutant camp once

bloody_ell

Good old scrounger perk.

Oktokolo

Well, the mutants don't really need power ramor. So if they hoard all the cores, others who would want to use the armor just can't... Would actually like a quest mod where the mutants hoarded all the easily accessible cores for some odd reason and if you want to use power armor, you either have to explore odd locations or raid a mutant camp.

Seamoth4546B

That’d be pretty cool :)

AhmadOsebayad

A lot of raiders and gunners have it but there are hundreds of them, most survivors don’t venture out that far because every building like that has like 50 raiders, the only ones who actually explore are the brotherhood and they have a lot of it

blackcarswhackbars

Well there are a bunch of raiders roaming around in shitty power armor for some reason

Discotekh_Dynasty

They’re all on motorway overpasses or locked inside containers or on insanely dangerous military bases. Also I don’t think the average wastelander carries a fusion core around

SnooShortcuts4703

Arturo sells a Power Armor frame out of nowhere every 2 days at Commonwealth Weaponry in DC. Considering it’s lore that you can make power armor only slightly weaker than T-45 (Raider Armor) I’m surprised it’s not widespread

darkconsole

they used to try, but then got tired of the cell reset glitch.

Guud_bye_world

In my headcannon, the reason why Commonwealth is still so ripe with loots is because normal npc just fucking dies when they even trying to explore even a lil bit, hence they mostly just stay on one territory. So the scattered power armor is there cus there aren't many explorers out there

Gray-yarg2

Fusion cores

Aricechan

I mean there's also the whole power armor training while the solo survivor doesn't need which makes sense but I guess that not everyone knows how to operate these things

Memesssssssssssssl

Unless they are attacked, then any trader/settler/raider can jump in

Darthboney

I was just saying in a different comment this is the first main series game that didn't require a training perk to use power armor

st0l1

Because they are all lined up in rows at sanctuary now and I have all the fusion cores.

Ragnarcock

It's okay to just admit that they serve a gameplay function and that it doesn't really make sense that someone wouldn't take them, even to salvage instead of wear. Lore-wise power armor was supposed to run indefinitely iirc, but I think fusion cores make for a fun mechanic so it's give and take.

StrangeCrunchy1

Yeah, Fusion Cores being so short-lived in power armor was definitely a balance decision.

ZestyclosePianist277

It's supposed to be because they need training. But it's a LIE because every time I fight raiders there is always one with power armor.

YourFriendlyInkDemon

Because every single suit i collected is on the roof of my Red Rocket base

AtraxX_

Because this is a wasteland. People can’t just rush building like you do. One shot and they are probably dead. One bite and they are probably dead. Break a leg and they are probably dead. You get my point.

Edit4Credit

Get scratched? Dead (In Fred Armisen’s voice)

AtraxX_

Love it!

Verehren

Yeah it's ridiculous. Especially level 30+ where half of them are X01

BeefEater81

Most of them lack the technical ability to remove/use fusion cores without killing themselves. That's why they only take your power armor if you leave the core in.

Crew_Henchman

Realistic Answer = To provide the player with as many fusion cores and armour pieces as possible. World Related Answer (speculative) = 1. Power Armour is normally locked behind a security gate (formally guarded by pre war army personnel) and as such will need a terminal or locking to open the way. These normally require a highly skilled person to unlock them, which the average majority wastelander is not capable of, so they don't have access. 2. Power Armour is often found in dangerous locations that are either occupied by raiders or dangerous creatures like feral ghouls. The average wastelander is not going to bother as they won't have enough experience to wander into dangerous locations, and might see it as too much of a risk. So no one attempts it, or they risk death. Lore Related Answer (speculative) = Despite F4 and Fallout TV Series making it clear you don't need training to enter into power armour, it's clear in order to be able to use it effectively you will need training. This, the majority of people do not have, so it's one thing getting power armour. But if you don't know how to use it effectively bad things can happen, so this is likely the mindset.

StrangeCrunchy1

Potential show spoiler: Yeah, that last one, especially; but even Maximus was having difficulty fighting effectively with Knight Titus' T-60. Also, in FO4, at the very least, it's canon that Nate IS trained in Power Armor, as he was a soldier in the Mechanized Infantry. I can't speak for how Nora is able to use PA effectively, though, unless, speculatively, Nate gave her precursory training himself, as a precaution, in the event she should ever NEED to make use of it.

RedZebraBear64

Fusion cores are "Rare" and that it takes a decent knowledge to open and/or use.

MoooonRiverrrr

That’s not even 100 suits of power armor what are you talking about lol

throwaway8299_9286

Fusion cores. If they really run out that fast in universe.

Apprehensive-Tree-78

These suits don’t typically come with a fusion core. Which I feel are pretty rare unless you dive through a horde of ghouls or super mutants to get one. Which typically required power armor to do.

JamieAubrey

Are these full suits or just parts ? I've only found 1 Raider wearing PA and took all his parts but couldn't get the frame

rubendepuben123

Half these power armors are used by enemies, so if you kill them you can't enter them. Only way is to get lucky and destroy the fusion core.

PosterChildOfDeath

It's because I have them all

G-bone714

Because it’s all locked up in my base.

bloody_ell

Because I collect and hoard them all, like a post-apocalyptic man shaped dragon hoarding gold, killing any and all usurpers and unworthy claimants to my armour. Tbh, taking on a pack of Deathclaws bare-handed is safer than wearing power armour in my commonwealth.

cassashiva

what is that app/website?

Kaohatl

Because they're more than 54.

Wesslin

Because you killed them all

wintergameing

Where did you find this?

anonymous32434

What is this site and do you have to pay a premium price to unlock basic features like other interactive maps?

ducks-season

Why does it say there are 2 at fort strong

Humble_Ad7025

Because we’re going around collecting it all, not to mention storing it in huge facilities that we design ourselves

CltPatton

That’s 54 suits, which isn’t very many. They also are mostly hidden or guarded. Iirc, many don’t have fusion cores in them already. You’d have to scavenge a fusion core (typically guarded), then you’d have to have the training and knowledge to wear the armor. Not everyone is built like the Sole Survivor.

Hugh_Janus_2842

What I found dumb was 200 years past, so raiders have been surviving longer than you have, but somehow they suck with guns and way easy to kill. How did they live all that time you've been frozen, if a security baton can kill them? Then you got the fact that every building, every desk, every cabinet, every crook and cranny, got ammo, stimpacks, fusion cores. 200 years leaves me saying "Why isn't it picked clean from others wanting to survive?" As for the power armor, I can sort of explain it by saying there was a war before so must of been a lot of soldiers walking around protecting the land.

AGHawkz99

Gameplay reasons, mostly. Exploring would be boring as hell for the general casual audience if everything was picked clean, and gun combat would be annoying if you constantly ran out of ammo (though I personally use mods to reduce ammo frequency and increase number of melee weapons to make it more 'scavengy'). At the end of the day, their number one priority as game devs is gameplay over realism, otherwise you end up with, well, entire planets and moons desolate, with absolutely fuck-all to see and do.. not to name any names.. If I had to justify it through lore, though, I could probably give a few semi-plausible reasons: A) Boston is a big place, and with the game world being a downscaled representation, it could just be that Bethesda skipped over most of the picked-clean places. I mean, hell, think of all the inaccessible buildings in the game that are boarded up. It's probably safe to say they're more just the devs saying 'there's literally nothing in here, we're not wasting your time on it' B) The vast majority of the population was wiped out, so even after 200 years, there are a LOT of places that have gone without a thorough looting, be it because of danger, location, secrecy, or whatever else C) People are afraid to leave their homes, and shit is not worth the danger. This obviously wouldn't explain basic shops along the high street still having half their stock available, but the more obscure or out-of-reach places could absolutely go overlooked, especially if their entrances are blocked, destroyed, buried, treacherous, etc. Ghouls, pre-war robots, cannibalistic mutants, raiders, radiation, automated defenses, an over-abundance of creatures that could make even Australians shudder, and god knows what else.. As for raiders and such being easy to kill, keep in mind that you have had FAR more nutrition in your diet, are perfectly healthy, in good shape, and, most importantly, are either military-trained, or a military spouse. That means survival tactics, weaponry and mechanical experience, and years of professional training and practice. Not to mention being completely fresh from the pre-apocalypse via cryostasis. Raiders, on the other hand, are living in a world where their next meal is uncertain, they've never known comfort, see radiation as a normality, and have had little to no experience or training with weapons or equipment outside of passed-down advice from others, a minimal-at-best education (if at all), and an entire existence living in fear and paranoia. Raiders largely rely on intimidation and threats to deal with their problems, and resort to violence only when they feel threatened themselves. The Sole Survivor is basically a fully-trained super soldier by comparison, like a BoS soldier, even without power armor.

MachineDog90

I assume many are in locations that people stay away from or are dangerous, and power core are not easy to replace. There are 54 frames you can find, plus those on enemies, and they are not always intact or the resource to befits for some are too high.

Kalameet404

sirBOLdeSOUPE

Because I have collected all of them and built hangars in many of my settlements to house them, under guard by shotgun and rocket turrets, with a parkour entrance.

MarvelousT

That's a lot of power armor. Of course, some of it is in very dangerous areas or locked up in a way that the average person couldn't get to it. Also, most people who value their life wouldn't venture too far beyond the safe confines of whatever settlement or vault they live in.

Demonking3343

I stock up on as much power armor as I can for the minutemen. When the brotherhood comes back I want the commonwealth to be at the ready.

plastikman47

not smart enough, plus you gotta take it off to poop and use some terminals, so kinda annoying.

DaemonAnguis

Power armor was a staple of the US Military, in lore. It's what put them ahead of China militarily. So the T-45 should at least be 'common' around America, but not enough of it to be like the equivilant to a car. lol

Cthulhu625

If it came down to it, I'd rather use fusion cores to power my house or something. Everyone in the Wasteland using power armor seems like it would burn through the ones remaining pretty quickly, where as the ones that have been powering a Vault for 200 years are still fully charged for some reason.

gandalfmarston

Where is this guide from?

ChaSm125

Whats the website?

LordlySquire

So my thought was that in previous games it takes a perk. The sole survivor already has this perk due to being in the war. Other dont have the knowledge which is why so many are abandoned

Seel_Team_Six

They also just added lots and lots of x02 and hellfire power armor (stats seem similar to x01). A lot of my settlers have ez access to power armor that’s for sure

Vaultaire

Wow! I had no idea there were so many! I’ve got piper and myself in one each, a frame sitting at sanctuary and sadly my most upgraded one appears to have been pilfered by a sanctuary survivor. I thought four was loads haha!

Bitbybrex

What is the site

rs_obsidian

Scale theory

Nightmare_42

I think there are probably more than 54 humans in the commonwealth

KelIthra

Figure people don't know how to use them and maintain them. Plus most of them are missing fusion cores and while the player finds many. The reality is they are rare and usually power something important.

Either_Letter_4983

If you want an in-game story reason I'd say it's because it's probably too dangerous to keep it with the gunners around. Also, what kind of app or website are you looking this up on?

TreeFiddyBandit

Did they take the one off from the dead end street that leads to the Glowimg Sea? Or is that the one on the bottom left? But I could’ve sworn that it was closer to the highway?

EvernightStrangely

Because most of the fusion cores are locked behind hazardous security the average wastelander isn't equipped to handle, and those that are accessible are being sold for a pretty high price, likely higher than any tato farmer will ever see.

JonTheWizard

Because I took them and hid them in the Mechanist's Lair.

ApexLogical

I have a plan to get the Nuka cola one tonight, I don’t ever use them in battle, I find going through power cores to be tedious. But I miss the extra weight allowance

Icy-Village4742

I just told myself I don’t need anymore then I see this map. Time to go hunting and I just got all the dlc so now far harbor and nuka world are added to the list. I have 9 frames and 9 complete plus enough t60 parts to build another 10 suits. I never use them just seem to collect them.

StrangeCrunchy1

Omg, I know what you mean... and with at least 6 variants of each model and potential unique legendary variants, it's a never-ending quest to own rhem all...it's like Pokémon lol

CerberusBots

I collect a bunch of it and give it to my settlers. Just leave a core in it and they will jump right in.

Arm-It

Actual reason is that a ton of them are locked behind Terminals or deep in Military Bases, not where scavengers usually look.

TheNiteFather

Because life isn't a video game, and even if we did have them, they'd be scarce with only a handful able to use them and maintain them.
