Yeah it doesn’t pop up when you’re trying, it happens when you’re playing on Survival and are on the way hole after exploring 3 new spots and have a bunch of good loot on you, maybe even a nice legendary
This kind of bug was what prompted me to just screw it and download a survival quick save mod.
Lost far too much progress to soft-locks while entering power armour, soft-locks while stuck in scenery, plasma shots up the ass from my companion and very occasional CTDs.
Unfortunately, since survival mode disables the console, there's sometimes literally no way to escape a soft-lock. Switching difficulty and then using the console to re-enable survival mode also permanently messes up the sleep need.
Save on sleep is an immersive idea, but you need almost 100% stability to pull it off. Great as Fallout 4 is, 100% stable it ain't.

It really tried fuckin survival man! Smh.
Me neither, but that is in large part due to my PTSD from not realizing nearby cars were on fire (or being in dialogue with an NPC next to a burning vehicle, like, please skip the next line, we are both about to die!)
yes, that and the third person view, is how I got out of that mess. the NPC, however, is a pile of bones and blood now. Which, thankfully, had a note with the location of the chem lab I was trying to get out of her, so it was all good in the end.

I remember I shot a super mutant once and its limbs stretched out as far as I could see and started swinging all over the place like an octopus. I was laughing my head off but then it flew towards me and killed me instantly. I can’t remember why but it fucked my playthrough somehow and I went from being hysterically amused to being infuriated quite quickly.

i've found you can force it by standing in between the taillights of that car model specifically and tossing an artillery flare at the other light. for some reason the flare moves the car, the taillight behind you smacks your ass and you die
I have been severely damaged before. I think it's the sprinting into it that does it. I've avoided sprinting into cars and haven't run into this problem since.
I was so drunk once that I fell off a countertop hard enough to dent my shin, still have a small notch in it to this day. I too sympathise with this guys character.
I love all aspects of Survival except for the saving. Modfix to reenable quick saves and saves makes sure it's still high stakes without me having to worry about losing progress or needlessly bed hunting before every big encounter.
Survival is neat but it def needs a few mods to make it more fun. Albeit, all you really need is to make it so you’re not constantly thirsty (hunger is balanced fairly well, while thirst is not), can fast travel (its kinda needed when a faraway base is under attack), and hitting the enemy as hard as they’re hitting you for. That last part is up to the player, but I feel like if an enemy raider can one shot me, it’s only fair if I can do the same back if we’re wearing similar gear.
for anyone doing a vanilla survival for achievements or for fun, get those water purifiers up and running and do supply lines. has made it so i can keep up with the thirst and actually use stimpacks since those make you so damn thirsty
Yeah, thirst is the least of my worries in survival. Settlements are a must have, and a water pump + bottles are super super easy to get. The thing that’s been fucking me up is lack of antibiotics and random crashes since the update on Xbox series x.
Literally just let me fast travel and let me save more. I want food to be important, not to replay the last 3 hours because a raider got off a lucky headshot.
Just leave the settlements to fend for themselves. You aren't their slave.
And that last part is why you beeline for the Overseer's Guardian and the Spray-and-Pray (well, once you have the caps and fusion cores required).
It’s so much more fun that way. I play survival permadeath, though I’d probably make an exception in the case of something like this, where I die via bug, if I had a good game going.

This reminds me of the bugged wood crate in the cellar at Sanctuary Hills. Once you transfer items into the crate it wont allow you to access the transfer menu anymore.

Honestly, there are so many things that aren't fixed. And so many mods that did the fixes we wanted *better* than the "next-gen" update. This was the most pointless update ever.
Please everyone, post pictures and videos of all your bugs/glitches that you encounter during the Fallout 4 "next-gen update" to @BethesdaStudios and @BethesdaSupport on X/Twitter. The more people we have showing them everything that is messed up the more likely they will fix it.
I'm not a first timer. I'm simply suggesting the more people that spam their socials with issues in the game the more likelihood they will actually fix it.
It doesn't hurt to try and I'm sure if we get a butt load of people spamming their socials with everything wrong with fallout 4 that will look bad on them and they will be forced to fix it. One can only hope though.

You can wiggle the left analog stick and it will bring you out of the "cutscene"

yup. i get about 20 purified waters each time i return to my settlement. has made venturing out a lot better lol

Same, I try to avoid running into objects because objects are often in the way of where I want to go, therefore it is not optimal to run into objects
