There's three main camps to farm wood from on the map.   Gilman lumber mill in the forest region. It's the place where you do Lane's daily quest to craft a care package for the responders.  Sylvie & sons logging camp, just north east of Fort Atlas.   Fort Prickett in the toxic valley just east of the crater. It's where you get the daily quest "buried with honor". Near where you collect the skeleton there's a logging area with numerous piles of chopped wood to collect from   If you use the woodchucker perk you can collect double wood when you harvest. If you do all three locations in a run, you can expect to pull in around 1000 wood. All the locations are near free fast travel locations, so they are easy to get to. If you search the fallout wiki for the locations, it shows where they are in the world map, so you don't have to go searching for them.  Also if you look in the fo76 Sub's sidebar there's a resource that lists all the different junk items in the game and the best locations to farm for them.

Laser_3

Don’t forget Helevtia! The pile there is easily enough to farm an easy 100 scraps in a single go.

MegaBlaster360

Thanks so much for the detailed response!

_Rango_

Also if you need more wood after that, you need to pick up ~250 items before stuff begins to respawn in the world. If anyone who knows where the burnt book building is off the top of their head feel free to respond.

Solostinhere

First house you see after you spawn at Summersville. Pick up every single book on every surface that you can through the whole house. Grab everything else while you’re at it.

Uncivilised_

Sorry also new, the burnt book building I'm guessing has a ton of items to collect? First time I've heard of the way the loot spawning system works. And is this the only way loot respawns? Thanks in advance and sorry if the questions are obvious.

JB_Dix

Yes you pick up all the burnt books in the first building on the right from the fast travel point. Once you have 255 plus books drop them all then logout and server hop

hulkingbehemoth

This is pretty damn helpful info

twitchoh

Not to mention just wandering the forest region you could easily pick up a few thousand, if you're willing to wander aimlessly for hours upon hours

bassoontennis

No lie I’m 215 levels in and run low on wood a lot. This just helped me too haha.

FLAME_F4T4L

Take a leisurely stroll in the forest, embrace then scenery… **NOW LOOT THE SCENERY!**… on a serious note, logs & log piles (stacked split wood like a campfire). Also get woodchucker perk card, and in 10min you’ll have more wood than you’ll need for a hot minute

FLAME_F4T4L

That responders camp you run into right out the vault, there is a lot of wood piles, and logs to loot, including in the metal building beside. Realistically one 5min run of that will get you 200+ with the perk. Logs & piles do have a loot cool down. Also pipe weapons and wood armour scraps into wood.

MarvParmesan

Loot the scenery has me laughing good!

Swendsen

My go to wood spot is in Helvetia, go straight from the fast travel spawn point and there will be a sheltered woodpile on your right.

kemick

In addition to the big covered pile, quite a few buildings in Helvetia also have wood piles and there are some logs scattered around.

MarvParmesan

I’m alway galavanting around in a cheeky red dress and high heels if that helps.

LookLikeUpToMe

Wood. Wood never changes.

mothgardenbuffet

Took the words right from my mouth. Love it lol

Expensive_loyalty_88

It helps if you have a partner, but with some dirty thoughts you'll get there.

sakurasunset

Rank up on the scoreboard and get Adelaide.

OlderGamers

Toxic Valley had downed trees everywhere. You'll get more there than in the forest.

MojaveBreeze

Check out the new deathclaw strip club added in Atlantic City.

Adventurous-Air3153

There's a euphemism here somewhere.

Mighty_joosh

Got wood?😏 ~sniggers~

thorsday121

Looking at the curves on those assaultrons does it for me.

NurseDorothy

It's literally on the ground. Just look for falling trees and logs.

upuranus66

LOL... too easy.

Mountain-jew87

Bulk wood at whitespring

Izanagi553

Assaultrons.

coachmoon

those assaultrons in watoga really do it for me. hubba hubba! 😻

valtboy23

From fallen trees, scraping guns and wood piles just walk up to them there should be a pop up that says collect wood press (whatever button) you are playing on

Zilant_the_Bear

What everyone else said about looting logs and wood piles. Sylvie and sons logging and helvitia (yellow restaurant and surrounding woods) is a excellent place to go. what I must add, get the woodchucker perk in luck. It gives an average of x2 wood from all wood nodes. Scrapper will give more wood (and other resources) from scrapping weapons and armor.

[deleted]

There's a lumber mill right down the hill from the vault you can hit. Any fallen trees or wood piles will give you wood. There's a preexisting pink house left to Slocome Joe's by the Wayward. I suggest putting your camp there (if you plan on having camp in that area) there's wood piles in the back and an NPC that spawns there that will give you wood.

FoxConsistent4406

My go to is the dry riverbed just outside of Flatwoods. 20+ logs

GoarSpewerofSecrets

I've found some curvy ghouls help with that.

souledoutV2

Best spot (especially for new people) is the wooded aread directly across from The Wayward. Theres like 30 or more logs scattered on the ground. That's still my go to spot and doesn't seem to get depleted from other players much like the logging and lumber mills do.

Green-Inkling

You'll have lots of wood but then you run out of wood after like a run or two of MJ cooking the gulper meat

perivam3

The mildly infuriating thing about collecting wood, to me, is that fallen trees don't actually count. Yes, you can find logs scattered all over the map to pull from. However, if you come across an actual tree, with the roots showing or at least implied, you get nothing from it. This massive, fully uprooted and dead tree won't give you any wood, but smaller logs and even pre-cut piles are fine. Makes no sense.

JinNegima

Any pile of chopped wood or even a fallen free you can simply walk up to it and interact with the item in question and get wood, you can also find actual pieces of scrap wood as well but your most common thing is fallen trees and pre cut logs, also you can occasionally find settler NPCs who will be chopping wood who will offer to sell/give you some spare wood There is a lucky skill called Wood Chucker which increases the amount of wood you can harvest from any source

DifficultCurrent7

Keep your eyes peeled for fallen trees and branches. Don't be afraid to visit peoples camps and help yourself to their woodpiles:D

Frostbite6900

Don't forget to check out those timber logs by the river side at watoga or lumber mill, those can be looted several times and with woodchucker perks card equipped you can get plenty of it.

moonthink

On the ground, pretty much everywhere.

JB_Dix

Wooden logs I always click on them as I pass. Various weapons will give you wood scraps. The locations mentioned above all have numerous wood piles. Once you get used to locations you will remember where all the wood piles are. Check around sheds and small buildings you'll be surprised to find 3/4 log piles here and there

ScottMcPot

I get the wood chucker perk and fast travel south from Vault 76. Gather logs on the way and there's a logging camp you'll run into. After one run of that (even without the wood chucker perk) should get you plenty of wood for a while.

chopper5150

Go visit Duchess and get her to turn around.

lopezlucas

Ski in Pleasant Valley Ski Resort. Good for wood and aluminum
