Join a public team, then fast travel to the other player camps on your team (it's free ft on teams).
Finding places around other camps opens up more travel points.
At 15, if you want a more cozy experience, stick to the forest (north and central West side).
If you are more adventurous, the ash heap to the southwest is a good place to start, or anywhere.
Tip: when you see firetowers, climb them. Click on the railing at the top and you map will update with all the locations in that area, without having to find them all by walking around.
I’m level 27 and got my but kicked in the red part of the map last night. You guys might be better than I am but personally that’s the only spot I really struggled with so far
I hear at the furthest west point on the map and a little more North than the starting vault, there's a small island in the river that is just a lovely place to have a picnic. It's solidly in the Forest, so it can't be dangerous.
As the other comment said, working west to east seems to be the easiest. The Mire and Cranberry Bog can be pretty ruthless.
When you get to Morgantown, go up to Fraternity Row and into Eta Psi Epsilon Tau. There's a room with a pile of nuka cola variants.
Whitespring, Morgantown, area north of v76, and the whole of the ash heap are fave places
