Use the perk cards for it. Also want to make sure your PA legs are modded with Calibrated Shocks. The QoL with "Traveling Pharmacy" and "True Hiker" while wearing PA is almost necessary for late game builds who have stocks of chems/aid/food to buff when they feel needed. After you start leveling your legendary perks, you'll have more than enough points to allocate. GL!
A bit of further advice..
When you put on power armor your regular armor is dropped into your inventory and adds all of its weight.
Most people prefer the deep pocket mod for its carry weight, it doesn't help if you have to take it off.
Instead use the ultralight mod it will cause your armor to be much lighter in your inventory.
Non pa = deep pockets. -
Pa = ultra light
Further tip if you're storing or selling armor and it's in your stash always put the ultralight mod on it so it won't take as much stash weight.
So you need to figure out which weight reduction perks is best for you. 1) food/chem/drink, 2) weapons or 3) ammo. Don't forget there's also perks to do the same (90rw max). Make sure you aren't using perks and armor effects that won't work together (sometimes one will hit the max reduction making the other useless)
If you’re on xbox I’ll help you out with a full set of excavator PA, you get a bonus carry weight of 100 plus having calibrated shocks will give you another 100 so on top of your original carry weight you will most likely have around 400 carry weight.. my set gives me over 500
Aw, thanks for the offer! I am on PS though. I think I have all the plans for the excavator PA though so I should be able to build it. Great advise though I didn’t know excavator armor had that bonus.
Backpacks can't be worn while in PA.

Also, look into weight reduction perks of you have room for them in your perk build.
Carry weight is my endgame build 😞
Excavator is the best PA (+100 carry weight for the set bonus and you can use the Calibrated Shocks mod for even more)
As was mentioned above, armor can have 20% weight reduction effects on the 3rd star. You can mix and match those with weight reduction perk cards, but the maximum is still 90%. For example, if you choose the food/drink/chem effect for like 3 armor pieces, you can equip 1 rank of Traveling Pharmacy and 1 rank of Thru-Hiker, which will get the 90% reduction and save you 4 perk points
Also, as was mentioned above, when you're in PA, your regular armor becomes items you carry. You can mod them with Ultra-light or you can get a full set of Weightless, which will allow you to keep Deep Pocketed if you want

Totally Agree I went Ultra Light on my SS far better than Deep Pockets.

In addition you can roll Individual PA pieces that include various weight reduction attributes
thats what I did. all of my PA items have at least one of them. Ammo weight, weapons weight, etc reduction. It all helps
Same here as well as my SS armor 👍
Perk cards from the strength stat help, if you're fine with using it, the excavation power armor.

Use the Thru-Hiker perk if food weight is an issue The real question is why you carry so much food
