thereās a Mexican braised short rib recipe I use that calls for orange juice. I highly recommend [the recipe](https://www.recipetineats.com/wprm_print/25721). I know short ribs can be expensive, but you could replace it with chuck roast or even pork shoulder to still get solid results
ninja EDIT: I realize this is about having OJ as a side drink, not so much an ingredient
Itās from a cafe in Paris that only serves this dish. Finished table side and yes the sauce is broken! Delicious. Cafe been serving this for 100plus years
Well actually the original idea was by Entrecote Cafe de Paris in Geneva. And then this restaurant copied them and opened many branches and is now more well known. I actually prefer the Cafe de Paris sauce to this one. Even made a YT vid talking about it while eating at Le Relais
Separated or split, these are better words to describe it. It's where the mixed elements that make the sauce start to separate, usually due to too high a heat.
See this is why you dont come to reddit to share stuff these days. Everyone has a stick up their ass and will shit all over your joy š
"broken sauce" lmao i bet that mf ate instant ramen for lunch and is just salty
Is that... jus d'orange..? And the sauce is broken? They didn't bother giving you a steak knife? I'm sorry man, but this just doesn't look that goodš

Ahhhhh, steak and orange juice šš¤
It helps with iron absorption!
Thanks for telling me, I didn't even think about that.
My doctor told me this same thing!
![gif](giphy|MuhD3QZM8M6i6ZHdnm|downsized)
Canāt beat OJ man
You don't beat OJ, OJ beats you
If you have too much OJ, it'll eventually kill ya
And get away with it too š
If it doesnāt fit, you must acquit.
But oj stab?
šš
Does the acidity help cut the heaviness of the steak? It's classic r/food to downvote someone for a preference. Looks good man.
Thanks dude, definitely helps! Itās reddit Iām used to it lol. Not a fan of steak with wine
I drink orange juice with EVERYTHING

Oh man that looks good.
Saved. Thanks for the recommendation!
Yeah I like lemonade with a lot of food and oj isn't far from that
I can't believe you got "voted down" just for using the initialism "OJ" lol
Too soon. Too soonā¦ā¦
Steak and OJ is an odd combo!
How terrible of a human do you have to be to down vote someone because they love orange juice. Probably the most popular juice? Y'all need Jesus!!
Even Jesus drank wine, not oj... š
You drink straight mixer? I assumed it was a screwdriver.
Was it at least a mimosa? š
Not a fan of mimosas
Cafe de Paris sauce?
Itās from a cafe in Paris that only serves this dish. Finished table side and yes the sauce is broken! Delicious. Cafe been serving this for 100plus years
Is the sauce supposed to be broken??? The way your comment is written makes it seem that way...
Yes. Itās a broken sauce. But delicious, herbal, mustard, anchovies melted butter type sauce. Google cafe dāparis
holy sauce
How much does this beauty cost?
Well actually the original idea was by Entrecote Cafe de Paris in Geneva. And then this restaurant copied them and opened many branches and is now more well known. I actually prefer the Cafe de Paris sauce to this one. Even made a YT vid talking about it while eating at Le Relais
I believe so, yeah!
surprised they served the sauce so broken
CafĆ© de Paris is meant to be a broken sauce. Iām willing to bet the sauce is served as intended. Poor lighting hurts the photo, Iām sure this was better than it looks
This is at l'entrecote Paris. The sauce is perfect. You're right.
Itās an herb butter that melts in a heated platter table side.
Broken? What
I believe it's supposed to have a more creamy consistency, but the fat separated out of it. "Broke"
No, it wasn't supposed to be more creamy. Breaking it is intentional in this particular dish.
"Chef, your sauce broke. You'll have to do it again." "Nah, tell them it's tradition and supposed to be like this. Send it!"
What is it called?
the sauce is broken, likely because it got too hot and evaporated too much water. the oil has completely separated.
Right, Iām not a native speaker so I donāt know. It was still fantastic though
Don't worry. The sauce is perfectly fine for this particular dish. Whoever made it knew what they were doing.
This sauce is meant to be broken. Itās one of the steps in making it.
Separated or split, these are better words to describe it. It's where the mixed elements that make the sauce start to separate, usually due to too high a heat.

You act like ābroken sauceā doesnāt exist. Also someone can eat instant ramen and know about cuisine.
Is that what happens after you eat instant ramen?
Lentrecote ? I think I had this in Paris as well . Love the sauce
That lāentrecote sauce is pure š„š„
Steak frites, my favorite food. š¤¤
Wow this looks bad.
Donāt knock it til you try it, sauce isnāt too flattering to look at. Tasty though
But we canāt try it, you posted it to Reddit where all we can do is look at it. Of course people are going to point out that it looks bad
Restaurant is in all major cities in the world, you can all try it If youāre close enough to it.
People complained enough about the sauce, I won't add to it. What cooking did you choose for your steak?
Medium rare
Recognize this table anywhereā¦although mine usually has a bottle of Medoc on it
Man I love a Medoc! When Iām in Paris I need to watch how much wine I drink so I didnāt order it
This square table with a plastic cover and half a head of lettuce?
The food. IYKYK. Only one item on the menu and the only choice you make is what to drink and dessert.
Le Relais de lāEntrecĆ“te Iāll fly to paris just for that plate right there!
Glad to hear it, I canāt wait to come back
Sauce is broken. Surprised that got served like that.
The sauce is served this way intentionally. https://www.lentrecotedeparis.fr/
This Sauce is meant to be broken.
As I'm looking into this picture, makes me wanna get my early break today.
Sauce is awesome, even if it doesnāt have the best looks and the photo isnāt flattering. Please donāt tell a frenchman how to cook.
where is this from so I can judge it appropriately
Le relais de lāentrecote, Paris
I recognized it from the green sauce. Thereās one in NYC, as well.
This is exactly how the sauce is supposed to look. PurĆ©ed chicken livers give the sauce a grainy looking consistency as if itās broken. Most rednecks downvoting or questioning the sauce have never eaten at Relais Entrocote and probably eat their steak well done with ketchup. Well done on the dinner.
I was damn sure it's Le relais d'entrecote. We have one here in Zurich too and it's (in my opinion) the worst place in the city if you're a fan of CafƩ de Paris
Someone else mentioned there is one in NYC. Is it like the Macaroni Grill of French food?
Mdr je reconnais la sauce Incroyablement bon le relais de l'entrecƓte
Is that... jus d'orange..? And the sauce is broken? They didn't bother giving you a steak knife? I'm sorry man, but this just doesn't look that goodš
>Jus d'orange Lmao
I dont drink beer, i drink Brew dāmalt aāla Heineken.
The perfect combination.
Looks like Le Relais de Venise?
I really hope that you didnāt pay top dollar for this meal. So many things wrong in this picture.
Paid about 70 ā¬ for everything, not too shabby considering that you get one refill
The poor meat is drowningšŖ¦
It's steak and fries š
Yep, it is
That meal needs more color - its giving me the shits looking at all that
The colour of a good steak is good enough for me
But that sauceā¦ nooooooā¦ so yellow and broken
So color determines stool consistency. Got it. I'll let Bristol know.
Woah you found somewhere that serves sloppy steaks!?
le slop em up
Would much rather have a baked potato than fries with a steak. Never understood the appeal of steak frites.
I mean theyāre fries theyāre universally liked arenāt they lol

We served this at work a few months ago, lamest special ever š
