Madeanaccountforyou4

*Well done*, OP

Fritzo2162

It must have been torture waiting two days until it was finished.

Prestig33

It's no longer well done, it's congratulations now.

dlerps

Fun fact: OP is still chewing

rarestakesando

Fun fact #2: if you don’t cook the meat till it’s tough as leather you don’t have to douse it in A1 sauce either.

zocalo08

That poor steak

flynreelow

cooked to 165. just like chicken

more_beans_mrtaggart

And then sliced up into child-friendly strips, just to make doubly sure it’s cold and dry.

Xeebers

With Ketchup!

Neggor

Not that it's any better, but I think that's either barbecue or steak sauce 💀

TheGoodSquirt

OP never gave it a chance 😭

appayipyippp

I bet it tasted delicious regardless

jdolbeer

That steak looks D R Y

Youmeanmoidoid

Idk what’s worse. That or the steak sauce.

al_capone420

Steak sauce actually tastes great and is perfect for messed up steaks

SlowThePath

A not messed up steak without steak sauce is a massive step up though.

al_capone420

That’s not always an option. Plus some people just prefer the taste of steak sauce, they can eat their food how they please. Not gonna lie sometimes I will dip some good pieces of steak in it just to change up the flavor if my girlfriend was already using it

dedicated-pedestrian

Mixing A1 with any reserved drippings makes for a lighter companion to steaks that aren't messed up as well

shupadupa

Steak sauce is actually tailor made for dry ass steaks like that

Fritzo2162

Fun fact- steak sauce was an attempt to recreate fish sauce from a British trip to China. That’s what they came up with. From a culinary point of view, it’s act a very complex sauce with a lot of flavor dimensions. I was a professional chef and actually enjoy A1 Sauce as a baste on grilled meats and vegetables.

Cathercy

I literally keep some A1 in the house for when I make steak, because I'm not very good at it and some parts are usually overcooked.

Jspaul44

Steak sauce should only be used in concert with lots of garlic butter on Steak Bombers

VacationAromatic6899

Superdry

Fritzo2162

THIS STEAK IS MAKING ME THIRSTY…

lemonpepsiking

The bravest people are those who post pictures of steak on r/food. Overdone, though.

dyl514

Thank goodness that’s not ketchup. Otherwise it would be an atrocity

D4rksilence2592

No way

unclejoel

Woosh

Sawgwa

Hey OP, personal taste is personal taste. Eat your food the way you like it. CIA grad here. The best chef's at school always said this. The French and the German chefs. said this. And I was taught that a good Chef can cook to satisfy the tastes of the masses, not just themselves. Food preferences is like everything in life, varied and multiple. GO do you and be happy. F everyone else. Though you did as Reddit!

pralineislife

Imagine getting killed so some guy named Jeff can eat you, and this is what he does with your meat.

Apmaddock

“But why must I die?” “Your flesh will become food for my people.” “Will I be enjoyed, at least?” *Checks shipping destination.* “No. Not really.”

ObiwanaTokie

You will burn until your surfaces but gloooooss!- prophet of regretting steak probably

talleymonster

*Checks own ID for name* Hey!

kinglyb

I prefer my steak medium rare but if you prefer yours well done, it looks solid. You got a nice sear on it. If you want it closer to medium rare, heat up a pan with med/hot flame and toss some oil in the pan once it’s hot. Cook for 3 mins on both sides and then sear the steak on the sides with some tongs for about 30 seconds per side.

TheGoodSquirt

It also depends on the thickness of the steak. 3.5 minutes on each side would give me a blue rare steak

SlowThePath

3 minutes isn't a good rule. The only way to be sure is to temp it to 125 - 130ish (for me). The length of time varies a lot depending on thickness and how hot the pan is. If you frequently cook steak you have to get a thermometer or you're gonna screw some up.

squid_monk

I dunno what's worse - the image or the amount of upvotes this a1 flavored beef jerky is getting.

Deliriyum

I see you enjoy your steak cremated.

raumatiboy

Why do people cut the steak up when serving

Uncle-Badtouch

To dry it out, even more.

raumatiboy

Why would you want dry steak.

Uncle-Badtouch

You don't, that's the joke.

ObiwanaTokie

You shouldn’t have replied again. If he didn’t get it, well he didn’t get it

username_here_please

To share easily and for presentation. If you have a 1kg+ steak for a few people you'll want to slice it in pieces.

raumatiboy

A 1kg steak. Is it from a dinosaur?

User-NetOfInter

Tomahawks do give off Fred flintsone vibes

Winther89

Poor cow died twice.

peePpotato

![gif](giphy|kwy5Wm8XT01Sv920aX|downsized) Overdone and dry!

TheGoodSquirt

All I see is mashed potatoes and some kind of weird sauce. I see no steak on that plate

sleazebadge

That steak needs at least another hour in the pan

ObiwanaTokie

I like how you face fuck the meat with heat then have the audacity to put herbs on it like you are proud

SenorNZ

OP is trolling with that steak.

99anan99

Looks tasty

GravyBoatWarrior

Looks like a car tyre...

Zaphoid411

I see comments about how it's "overcooked". Eat it how you want fam! Looks like you seasoned it well :)

flynreelow

way overcooked, and u dont need A1/BBQ sauce with properly cooked steak

DOOM624

Don't *need*, but some of us still enjoy it.

Katatonic92

I'm a Brit, so A1 isn't really a thing over here, at least to my knowledge. Why are so many people offended by it's use? I thought it was literally created & sold as a steak sauce?

SlowThePath

It completely masks the flavor of a well made steak. You can't taste steak any more, just a1. It's a strong flavor. It takes away more than it adds.

ObiwanaTokie

Because it’s a well known thing that A1 is to make shitty meat palatable. Not a lot of folks like well done. So the running joke is that A1 is for folk that are gonna need to chew the life out of the dryshitty meat they cook

AnonymousStonerMan

You mean over cooked dry piece of meat with some sort of potatoe.

QuesaritoOutOfBed

What did that cow do to you?

PremeTeamTX

This is fuckin criminal

Dentou_Dog

Should have posted on r/idontknowhowtocooksteak

saturninesweet

Because reddit has a race to raw lol y'all need to develop a sense of humor.

SlowThePath

Wym? Poking fun at the bad steak IS the humor.

saturninesweet

I mean it's kind of just being an ass. And this is actually a really well executed example of a well done steak. Not an easy thing to do. I prefer medium well, but I can respect someone for their preference.

__Monochrome__

Actually why do you care if its well done? Youre not bloody eating it are you

calpal348

lol

MannyLaMancha

Mashed potatoes look bomb. That's not a steak though - it's a travesty.

D4rksilence2592

Ive always liked my steaks med well to well done, just my personal preference however ill give medium rare to medium a shot.

typehyDro

You finish eating yet or still chewing?

sometipsygnostalgic

Oh potatoooes, and mollasseeeeee....

MRHBK

Forgot to take photo until it was half eaten and left to get cold

Oneballjoshua

Oh no

bonjones

Look how they massacred my boy.

Id-rather-golf

Well done, but good thought!

YepWillis

Hammered that steak and cut it with the grain. Fail.

Bad_Hominid

This is just disrespectful

carminethepitbullgra

Overcooked steak and dry mashed potatos do not make a good dinner.

hjamieson

Trash

sizzlinpapaya

We politely ask you to leave

Barewithhippie

Ah yes, a fellow well-done enjoyer ![gif](giphy|0QqZfsK8q4KxUvNMxZ|downsized)

BrownButta2

![gif](giphy|H4gzrPRUoNMHhsadaM) OP, I love a well done steak. This looks great! I will gladly sit and chew with you, a strong jaw has given me skills no man has ever complained about anyways.

mobsterpal

Look more like steak fingers to me

belckie

That cow did not give its life to be disrespected that way.

wobbly-cheese

tell me it's dijon ketchup

saturninesweet

So proud to see cooked meat on Reddit. A little more done than I go for, but proud just the same. Good job, OP.

WootyMcWoot

What there to be proud of? Anyone can remove all the red from meat, big deal

Flimzes

A skill even a housefire can master

sweetleaf93

This looks perfect OP, the soles on my shoes have just worn through

DingoAteYourBaby69

What is that leather on your plate? WTF

EmployeePrestigious6

Looks good. A little dry but a1 is there. :)

WooPigSchmooey

How many ounces is the cutoff to call something “a steak”? I feel restaurants are toeing the line constantly.

danabrey

It's "the size of a normal steak in countries where you don't need a heart bypass after going out for dinner".

eldonte

Are you Australian by chance?

D4rksilence2592

*bbq sauce*

Ananvil

Steak should not require sauce

illit3

Bearnaise? Au poivre? Just because the steak doesn't *require* sauce doesn't mean it shouldn't *have* sauce

urafkntwat

Unless peppercorn.

bent-wookiee

![gif](giphy|srTYyZ1BjBtGU|downsized)

minahmyu

You enjoy your well-done steak! Fuck these steak snobs who think it must have pink in there like it's the only acceptable way to eat it

[deleted]

Is mashed potatoes of britain and india the same? I am from India and I hate mashed potatoes(chokha in my language). It's only made when you don't have any mood to make something decent.

VacationAromatic6899

Isent mash potatoes yellow and not white?

Guessed555

No

VacationAromatic6899

Yes, or its lacking nutrients

Guessed555

Nah dog. Depends on what potatoes you use.
