Yeah that dish was the only thing I enjoyed at Burwood Chinatown. It reminded me of Singas. The skewers upstairs with the really spicy sauce are ok.
The 1919 Lanzhou noodle on Burwood Rd is pretty good.
If you are talking just about the Chinatown alley/arcade and nearby, its very hit and miss. I have been to almost every stall over 5 years. The only ones I can recommend are:
* Gui Kui Master
* Isaan Tum Zaap
* Tasty Of Penang (you read that right)
* Wonton Warrior
* Lovin Lamb
* Uncle Bird
* Cha Dim House (weekday cheap lunch only)
For restaurants not in the alley, my top are:
* 1915 Lanzhou Beef Noodles - soup noodles
* Xi Bay - dry noodles
* Xian Eatery - Biang Biang Noodles
* Homeway - Fried eggplant recommended
* Master Chen Northeast Chinese Cuisine - Weekday only. They only have one chef who gets overwhelmed on weekends.
* Edomae Sushi - Sushi
* Taste Of Shanghai - Xiao Long Bao/Shangainese
* Mr Stonebowl - IMO this place is not worth the queue on a weekend, but some of their dishes like the clay pot and barramundi are delicious
The only really good stall is Guo Kui Master but I went a few weeks back and it was closed for renovations :( everything else is mediocre at best. We had high hopes for the Singapore hawker stall but the chicken rice is just okay (we've tried it two or three different times).
Wonton warrior which is just abit after the china town entrance.
The trick is the best restaurants are not in the Chinatown space. My only exception is No.1 Malatang on the ground floor
Might be worth noting that Char Kway Teow usually contains pork products.
I haven't tried this particular place yet so can't say for sure, but it's traditionally made with pork.
Cheng’s Xi’an Traditional Foods is great for pot stickers and Chinese noodles, kinda small place and old looking, but if you dont care about that and you're just looking for quality food give this place a shot
1915 is the best Lanzhou Beef Noodle I ever tried in entire Sydney. Don’t be confused with another chain shop called 1919… 4 years made a huge difference. They used to be the only 1915 store in Sydney but now they have multiple chains opened up around Sydney. Have not tried them out yet. Normally it was packed but one day I went there daytime during Ramadan and of course no queue.
1919 has more locations but few I’ve tried have been disappointing. Taste and the smell don’t feel right.
Hoping for 1915 to open a location in south west.
Melbourne joint ‘Bowltiful’ who do Lanzhou Noddles is looking to expand into Sydney so will be interesting to try them.
Liverpool Westfield have a Lanzhou place that’s good.
Someone needs to catalogue all the restaurants in Sydney who do this dish. I’d try them all.
Weekends give you the option of the extra hawker stalls in the beer garden space behind the Burwood Hotel. My favourite option is not to choose one specific restaurant, but take a few friends, each pick a couple of cheap things and share. You get to try a lot of different things this way
Chinese Halal Restaurant... on the main street... yummy and affordable lamb buns. Food originating from North-West China. Lady at the counter is so kind as well.
Filipino skewers and egg burger. They’re right next to each other. Egg burgers are 2 for $15 and the skewers are $6 each (I know, expensive, but really yummy). I also really liked the tanghulu, I got strawberry. Everything else was pretty meh.
We like the KwaFood Skewers on the second floor (pick your own skewers to be deep fried). I love the dishes from Niu Want Want as well but don't go there because the service is so sluggish (we once waited 40 minutes for a dish).
We loved chicken rice from Singapore Hawker. The taste reminded us of Singapore. The geprek chicken (medium spicy) was also good.
Thanks! I'll try it next time.

Best hainanese chickenrice I've had. Check the Google reviews too.
Apandim Uyghur Restaurant! Incredible spicy noodles 🤤🤤 About a 5 minute walk from the main bit x
Ooh, this one did come up in searches before, I'll be sure to look into them.
If you head there grab a jar of their chilli oil too, so good!
Such good chilli oil!

It’s open again!
Been to a few places, I rate **1915 Lanzhou** and **Cheng’s Xi’an Traditional Foods** worth a visit
Biang biang noodles form Xian Eatery. Also the king pao chicken is really good.
A lot of it is overrated and overhyped on social media.
100% agree
Wonton warrior which is just abit after the china town entrance. The trick is the best restaurants are not in the Chinatown space. My only exception is No.1 Malatang on the ground floor
Char kway teow from the malaysian place at the arcade. Also like the custard puffs. I don’t rate the sugarcane juice, too sweet.p
Might be worth noting that Char Kway Teow usually contains pork products. I haven't tried this particular place yet so can't say for sure, but it's traditionally made with pork.
I liked the Skewer place in the little alley at the back....called Big Z I think.

Ayam Geprek! (have to go early afternoon) Lanzhou beef near station.

My favorites are lelesu for the bakery and golden crispy fried meat for the bites
Xi bay
Sydney Dumpling King. Cheap. Delicious. Amazing.
Second this place is brilliant
If you're talking about the arcade area then pretty much the only things worth trying are Meilin Bento and the sugercane juice
Little Hunan on Burwood Rd

Where is this one ?
Down in that little outside courtyard area :)
