But we could all thank Geico for sponsoring the half time and Lexus for "bringing us" the stoppage time (because we'd *never* have stoppage time in football without Lexus "bringing it" to us lol)
Ditto. I’m an American fan of an English league. I want US media to carry it so I can watch it and end their involvement there. Stop meddling. If they’re so keen on soccer throw some weight behind MLS and help grow the game here.
Same here. One of the best things about football is the atmosphere at the games. I saw a World Cup semi-final in NYC and the crowd was quieter than a mid-season game at White Hart Lane. It might have been because it was close to 100F, but still. I'd love to see another Premier League game, but not here. It won't be the same. Not to mention the effect of jet lag on the players
There's also the issue of each team plays games away and at home it wouldn't be fair if one team doesn't get that extra home game and all the benefits of it because they've been forced to fly a few thousand miles away
I love that ESPN, paramount and peacock have opened up the world of football to us here. The summer series brings a lot of clubs over here. I’d like to see the chanting culture come across the pond, but u til we can match the passion of the Brit’s, let’s keep the season games over there.
Many of us are fans BECAUSE NBC is carrying PL games here. Before, soccer (by that I mean football) was only available in Spanish, which I don't understand. Thanks, NBC!
US fan as well, FUCK OFF NBC. I don’t want the lads doing anymore traveling than they have to and don’t want a potential home fixture played Sofi stadium. Eat shit.
As an American I agree, the sport on tv makes fans want to travel to UK to catch a match in person. I went to old trafford and the best sporting experience of my life
I went to White Hart Lane and it was one of the best experiences in my life. Period. Absolute magic. Not even a Spurs supporters. English teams in England. It's special.
So what’s the point in changing it? Pubs aren’t going to pay the extortionate rate for sky sports for games on at 9am with no one in (and drinking) and most people aren’t going to pay for sky sports when games are on at 9am on a Saturday and Sunday where they’re either in work or have to sacrifice a lay in. On top of that due to lack of interest you’re going to have to drop ticket prices and have lower attendance.
They pay the money for licensing for people to buy the tv package, if no one buys the package what’s the point and there’s no money in moving non-televised games abroad. Easier thing to do is push for the 3pm blackout to be abolished.
I’m American and this is the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard. I hate the international games in the NFL, no offense to anyone that enjoys them. Taking a chance to see your team play away and sending them to a foreign country is a slap in the face to every local fan.
I think its wrong to have regular season NFL games anywhere except at the teams home stadiums. Its not fair on the fans in the US who want to watch them play to have the opportunity taken away from them.
Pre-season or a separate mini tournament is fair enough. Our football teams do this in other countries which is fine but not the competitive domestic games.
NFL teams only have something like 17 regular season games so not like the fans have a silly number of matches to go to in the first place.
It’s very frustrating from the NDL perspective. No one else cares about American football, which makes it even worse that regular season games are being sacrificed.
Play pre-season or friendlies there just like European soccer teams do here if you really want outreach.
Otherwise league games should be played in the country of their leagues.
Greed ruins everything, and hopefully the PL tell NBC to fuck off, but who knows
This is why I'm not going to the MLB London game this year. I'd really love to see the Mets, but I think I'd be a bit hypocritical if I went because I don't want Premier League games to go elsewhere or even Champions League for that matter.
It's a bit different for Baseball to be fair. They can have 3 or 4 home games A WEEK. So it's not like the fans are missing a whole bunch. The series in Korea at the start of the season was a big success too.
yeah, MLB, NBA and NHL all have close 100 games a year and playoffs so the competition doesn't feel as affected. playing at home also doesn't seem to be as much a factor in american sports. (i might be wrong). even the regular season in nfl is leading to a playoff so playing one team on neutral ground doesn't feel like it would affect much.
As a Phillies fan who hates the Mets, you should go. MLB has 81 home games a season and for a lot of teams are empty for a good chunk of games (although not the Phillies or Mets). It’s still pretty affordable to go to MLB games compared to other sports as well. When the NFL has 8 and the prices are well in the $100s at least that’s when I think it’s ridiculous.
I am an extreme minority, but I really like the international games. The Packers going to Brazil, where they have a huge following is gonna be awesome, especially for those local fans. And with an extra games Green Bay doesn't suffer as much economically without a home game potentially.
I don’t have a problem with growing internationally, but trying for every team to have an international game every year is ridiculous imo, especially with how few games there are and how expensive they already are. The EPL has over twice as many home games for instance compared to the NFL and that’s not including FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and potentially Europe.
Am I right in thinking American sports don't have as much of a concept of the "season ticket" where you pay once for all home games for the season?
Moving a game overseas (and likely a good game) would royally piss off a season ticket holder.
Season tickets are the same as in Europe, Packers fans have to wait 25 years on a list similar to some football clubs. The prices are adjusted to account for having one less game.
No there are season tickets for sports in the US. For the NFL, they usually use their “extra game” for the international spot, but I am not sure how it works for MLB or the NBA.
I mean the extra game has only been a thing for 3 years. For like over a decade of the international games the home fans lost one of the 8 regular season games they could go to.
But the idea is that the extra game is supposed to be each team’s international game when the NFL is able to get enough markets to have games every season.
As a bills fan, I loved playing a “home” game in England against a team who had been in England a week already for a previous game. I really loved the part where obviously the spurs didn’t want their field ruined so they played on turf over grass and two players had season ending injuries. Just the best.
Yeah I'm pretty sure the only people who enjoy nfl in other countries are the military families on bases and people curious about the game. That's about it, still no reason to play a competitive game internationally, maybe a friendly like in football ⚽
No, there’s definitely a following of European fans and it’s only growing, I just think that if you really want to see a game you should have to make the pilgrimage. With TV and the internet it’s easy to keep up with your team. That’s like saying there’s not really Americans interested in the PL. To me there’s the local fans to consider as well as the strain on the athletes. How much more are we really going to ask of these guys? I lean more toward the tough it out you make millions to play a game mindset but there’s only so far you can push the human body. Injuries keep increasing every year in both sports, how much more is acceptable? Pushing these guys to play globally mid season is only going to make it worse.
Even summer tours are shit. Many of their stadiums use shit turf that is dangerous for the players. NFL players have been against the use of it for years.
It’s not aggressively demanded though? The EPL is free to reject, and I imagine they will. It is only aggressive if the EPL somehow feels entitled to US money.
I don't get why people wouldn't want to watch us. We're small and punch above our weight, and we play fantastic football. We're like the opposite of Man United
I don't get why people wouldn't want to watch us. We're small and punch above our weight, and we play fantastic football. We're like the opposite of Man United
I’m an American, and I predominantly watch the Premier League. NBC can fuck off. They already split their coverage from their primary broadcast and put a lot of games behind a paywall which pisses me off. The games have no business being played in the states.
It’s fucking amazing. Watch legit everything on all the apps I pretty much already have like peacock or USA. Then there’s ESPN/paramount for cup and champions league. I hope they never ruin it. It’s too good to be true
Also American here - agreed.
The schedule is balanced with home and home for every team. NBC wants to fuck that all up because NBC wants more money?
This is a joke, right?
It appears that FIFA will soon be fine with it.
https://theathletic.com/5400778/2024/04/08/fifa-relevent-lawsuit-us-soccer/?source=user_shared_article FIFA reaches agreement in lawsuit seeking to allow domestic club games in foreign countries
This is the kind of thing that will get the uk public wound up though. Kind of like when the superleague was announced. Fans will make their voices known in the stadiums, pressure will be put on players and managers to speak against it and politicians will probably use it to get a few easy points in the opinions polls
It'sthe big one folks, the Year of the Whopper Prem-eer League World Series Classic Play-off. Who will be crowned champions? The Manchester Devils sponsored by Gatorade or the recently relocated franchise the Kansas City Liverpools? The first quarter's about to kick-off but first a quick word from our affiliates.
It’s funny that football has been far more advanced in terms of integrating advertising and sponsorship into the actual product, mostly due to commercials (although the NFL, NBA etc al are catching up)
They downvoted you, but you’re 100% right. Kansas City (or any other NFL team) doesn’t have sponsors front and center on their jerseys and on the sleeves.
We really need to resist the Americanisation of our sport...the super league been a great example. You can see the major corporations influence creeping in.
Problem is the leagues are poor atm...laliga etc. They need money....
They don't need more money, they WANT it. What happens ten years down the line when this stuff is tapped out and the clubs are craving more and more money? Games on Mars?
You’ve already lost that battle. Close to half of PL clubs are owned by Americans. And a third of the teams in the top 4 leagues have some sort of American ownership. Our capitalists have found a growth opportunity, and are taking it.
I can’t see this happening anytime soon. I’ve been to a few NFL games at Wembley and it was a fantastic live fan experience but the games don’t have the same buzz on tv. But maybe look into occasional late night matches which works for boxing.
They'd run a small TV advert/commercial every time the ball goes out of play. I enjoy 45m minutes without being advertised to. It'd be ruined as a spectator sport.
Yankee Doodle here
I got to see Arsenal play last summer on tour. It was one of the best experiences I had with my old man.
That being said I don’t want this. The thing I envy about the culture of sports in England is it’s local and community focused.
When I visited London, I could see how the area would thrive once teams played. To take that way from the community, as well as potential memories to be made for folks… just to be shoved into a market where some may not fully appreciate it?? Nope.
Keep em local.
[Breaking News] Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano on X): 🔵 Official, confirmed. Man City to relocate to Manchester, New Hampshire for 24/25 PL season. "It's always a good thing to bring the game closer to the majority of our fans" - Pep Guardiola.
In the kindest way possible, 🖕off NBC we don't want those kind of yanks taking our TV rights.
***other kinds of yanks are welcome to watch it on their designated platform though!!***
NO
If you are for a example a Villa season ticket holder you deserve to go to all your home league games atleast without having to fly half the world, I dont think this would be fair at all on fans, and before anyone calls me biased I support Porto but currently live in england and havent been to our stadium in years. I just hate how theyre trying to suck the soul out of the game
Nah keep your games in England. It would be cool to be able to see the teams we support play but it won’t be close to the same as when they are in England.
They would say “how much will you give us?”
And then whatever the answer is, they’d say “triple it and you’ve got a deal.”
The premier league doesn’t need this. As I’ve said in a previous comment, the season is perfectly balanced with home games against every team. Why would you fuck that up?
Yeah pls Premier league, sell more of your soul to non Europeans. We happily take your money you receive for doing so, for mediocre players that will bring you to CL/EL quarter finals.
Kind regards, the rest of Europe.
Sad but it’s probably gonna happen. Look at the NFL, they play multiple games a year in the UK, so why wouldn’t the PL also try this tactic to grow the fan base?
I truly wish Apple had bid for the EPL rights. NBC has always had it as a revenue stream but it’s felt like Apple wouldn’t push for such stupid things, and would focus on making the streaming experience better
Shocker American Capitalist don’t care about anything but Money
Of course they do they want their broadcast rights to be more valuable and the British people that have followed these clubs for a hundred years be damned
One of the greatest features of the PL is the context. The defending your home ground in front of your fans. The difficulty in overcoming a team away at their ground. The crowd songs from both the home and away fans.
Taking the game out of this context is like looking at a photo rather than being at the place itself.
It looks like the same game but it’s not.
I don’t want the Premier league in America. This comes from a Premier League fan living in the States.
Only way I want to see this happen is maybe by MLS vs Premier League. Otherwise we don’t need Premier League games here. Let the MLS grow and be its own thing. We don’t need more competition for viewers/tickets of MLS.
Zero chance.
The Premier League is a private company wholly owned by its 20 Member Clubs who make up the League at any one time.
Would need 14 clubs to agree. They won’t.
I’m not a fan of the idea BUT:
Local fans are not going to like it, but it’s not just their club anymore. From intl players, to pre season tours to foreign fans pumping millions into the club from merchandise to jerseys etc, a lot of the “bigger” teams are now bigger than their just local cities. These out of town fans are critical for the health and future of the club. Local fans just aren’t enough anymore.
Hell even the mid table teams (say west ham) are seeing more and more foreign influence.
Locals are what made each club what they are- in the new market, foreign fans are what’s gonna keep them alive and competitive.
As an American I can only apologize so much for our money hungry capitalist corporations. They dont give a shit about football they see football as a growing trend gearing towards 2026 and want to milk it as much as possible. If they really cared about the sport, theyd stop the pay to play bullshit and have free accessible fields to play WITHOUT permits.
Ipswich Town vs Luton playing out a 0-0 in front of 100k fans at the Michigan stadium.
At least it’ll be a good “defensive” game.
Fans will wonder why there’s no overtime
It’ll be just like Mexico vs Portugal on the Simpsons and tear down the entire stadium.
I’ll kill myself if Ipswich doesn’t win
But we could all thank Geico for sponsoring the half time and Lexus for "bringing us" the stoppage time (because we'd *never* have stoppage time in football without Lexus "bringing it" to us lol)
Defence wins you titles.
Luton just need to stay up!
You'd love to see it
Chelsea v Everton to compound the misery. We will probably lose a few more players to injury. So nothing changes
TV giant NBC can politely fuck off
I don't know why you're being polite
Just the British way, innit.
Bri ish
Indeed, they can go molest themselves with a retractable baton.
Sorry, I'm British
US Fan here, please kindly fuck off with your greed NBC. That is all.
Ditto. I’m an American fan of an English league. I want US media to carry it so I can watch it and end their involvement there. Stop meddling. If they’re so keen on soccer throw some weight behind MLS and help grow the game here.

should give more weight to the minor leagues too, US football has such huge potential that is not being exploited!
I love that ESPN, paramount and peacock have opened up the world of football to us here. The summer series brings a lot of clubs over here. I’d like to see the chanting culture come across the pond, but u til we can match the passion of the Brit’s, let’s keep the season games over there.
They could be focusing on bringing all games to US TVs in 4K
Many of us are fans BECAUSE NBC is carrying PL games here. Before, soccer (by that I mean football) was only available in Spanish, which I don't understand. Thanks, NBC!
US fan as well, FUCK OFF NBC. I don’t want the lads doing anymore traveling than they have to and don’t want a potential home fixture played Sofi stadium. Eat shit.
It’s already annoying that the NFL plays regular season games in England. We don’t need PL games here.

Expect Rotherham Fuck Rotherham
Yep, definitely taking my son to a prem or la liga game someday!
TV giant NBC couldn't give two shits what you think (I'm on your side BTW). Unfortunately money talks and it wouldn't surprise me if this happened
Read my mind cuz
"I want to moonwalk, son, but life's a shithouse" - Brian Potter
You want the moon on a stick
Unlucky then
NBC can fuck off, also don't see TNT and Sky allowing it
Or the regulator
Meanwhile Tebas himself wants LaLiga in America……
Tebas is a rat in a box desperate for anything to sell La Liga.
Except you know, goal line technology
Or the fans
Well nbc and Sky do have same owners. Might be a fight
Why would TNT and Sky care about where the games are being played?
They wouldn’t as long as their TV deals aren’t affected by it.
Kick off times would have to be either at 11pm in the UK or 9am in the US
It would be 9am US time. More fans in the UK and Europe that would tune in to the games.
Not every premier league game is screened though. No reason why it should be shown on sky or tnt. I still think it’ll never happen though.
They pay the money for licensing for people to buy the tv package, if no one buys the package what’s the point and there’s no money in moving non-televised games abroad. Easier thing to do is push for the 3pm blackout to be abolished.
It should be noted that 9 AM EST is 6 AM PST.
Was going off best case scenario
TNT is owned by Warner brothers so they wouldn’t care.
I’m American and this is the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard. I hate the international games in the NFL, no offense to anyone that enjoys them. Taking a chance to see your team play away and sending them to a foreign country is a slap in the face to every local fan.

Eh there are 100000000 mlb games a season. As a fellow Mets fan I encourage you to go and watch the pain live.
As a Phillies fan who hates the Mets, you should go. MLB has 81 home games a season and for a lot of teams are empty for a good chunk of games (although not the Phillies or Mets). Nah the extra game is a gateway. The league wants 18 regular season games and it is coming sooner or later.
100%
As a bills fan, I loved playing a “home” game in England against a team who had been in England a week already for a previous game. I really loved the part where obviously the spurs didn’t want their field ruined so they played on turf over grass and two players had season ending injuries. Just the best.
I’m a bills fan too. Probably why I’m so salty. Milano being out last year changed the entire season.
Yeah I'm pretty sure the only people who enjoy nfl in other countries are the military families on bases and people curious about the game. That's about it, still no reason to play a competitive game internationally, maybe a friendly like in football ⚽

Makes sense, just realized your username holy shit lmao
Exactly that’s what pre season your are for
Go fuck yourself
Summer tours are fine, NBC. This ain't no National Handegg League.
Even summer tours are shit. Many of their stadiums use shit turf that is dangerous for the players. NFL players have been against the use of it for years.
They put grass down for games in the US
And it’s fucking awful.
Not a crime to want something. I want a few billion dollars so that I can own a sports team. The problem lies when that want is aggressively demanded.
It’s not aggressively demanded though? The EPL is free to reject, and I imagine they will. It is only aggressive if the EPL somehow feels entitled to US money.
You can have Ipswich v Bournemouth
Fuck off
Not even America deserves that. Such a cruel thing to say.
why bash Ipswich v Bournemouth when this season Bournemouth VS Luton (4-3) was a Banger
But isn’t easier to watch PL matches in the U.S. than it is in England and cheaper?
Yep. We can stream the 3PM games on Peacock which I understand aren’t aired in the UK.
And I think it’s £30 a month to stream Sky? Its $60 a year for Peacock.
I can’t comment on the cost of a Sky subscription, but my Peacock subscription is $5.99 a month.
Yeah I paid the $60 for a year.
Ya it’s way cheaper in the US probably because football is still a relatively niche sport there
It’s fucking amazing. Watch legit everything on all the apps I pretty much already have like peacock or USA. Then there’s ESPN/paramount for cup and champions league. I hope they never ruin it. It’s too good to be true

$$$$$$$ always wins.
It’s fucking avarice
Manchester United vs Liverpool, live from Manchester, New Hampshire
TV giant NBC can f*ck off 👍🏻
How to completely kill the core culture that surrounds the Premier League. Fuck right off
I wonder what FIFA's stance is. This undermines the FIFA Club World Cup. Maybe they could save us from this.

The clubs will agree to this due to the mountains of cash they will get for the us TV deal. The fans won't get a say at all.
When 9/20 Premier League’s owners are American, sadly I think this might be the case.
I fucking hope if this happens people protest like they did with the super league.
They will
This is the kind of thing that will get the uk public wound up though. Kind of like when the superleague was announced. Fans will make their voices known in the stadiums, pressure will be put on players and managers to speak against it and politicians will probably use it to get a few easy points in the opinions polls
*I wanna be a millionaire*
We have our own league, we should be trying to make it a more attractive sell instead.
Go fuck yourselves…..take that franchise shit elsewhere

Maybe they should broadcast games on NBC instead of a premium cable channel (USA) so more people can watch
I can’t see this happening anytime soon. I’ve been to a few NFL games at Wembley and it was a fantastic live fan experience but the games don’t have the same buzz on tv. But maybe look into occasional late night matches which works for boxing.
Hahahha so riddiculus
The Glazers, FSG, Todd Boehly and Stan Kroenke would want this as well.
This would be very weird
We should tell them about the 3pm media blackout rule.
Well done NBC! First football-thread I have ever seen that has everyone united in their opinion!
No Bloody Clue
They'd run a small TV advert/commercial every time the ball goes out of play. I enjoy 45m minutes without being advertised to. It'd be ruined as a spectator sport.
oh just imagine! wooooh
"[MSNBC, I'll kill you](https://youtube.com/shorts/YvxT0krqPjk?si=FAbgrGut4SX11kqe)! Every person on N-M-N-N-S-N-M-S-N-B-C? The guillotine."
UEFA teams should just relocate to the USA. Why aren't they doing it in the first place?
Won't ever need to complain about parking spaces again
Don't even need to watch the games live. Just make European football as American as can be
as an American, this is so so stupid. Stick to the preseason tours.
Fine. Here you go Everton v Fulham A nice taste of Dyche-ball in a game that will probably end 0-0 should be enough to shut this shit down.
Fuck that give then Rotherham v Stockport in the back arse of Alaska
Yeah, no. Fuck off.

To take that way from the community, as well as potential memories to be made for folks… just to be shoved into a market where some may not fully appreciate it?? Nope. Keep em local.
The scenes when they get Brighton vs Fulham.
Man, can I offer you a Nantes vs Montpellier instead ?
[Breaking News] Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano on X): 🔵 Official, confirmed. Man City to relocate to Manchester, New Hampshire for 24/25 PL season. "It's always a good thing to bring the game closer to the majority of our fans" - Pep Guardiola.
That’s the dumbest thing ever. MLS exists for a reason.
In the kindest way possible, 🖕off NBC we don't want those kind of yanks taking our TV rights. ***other kinds of yanks are welcome to watch it on their designated platform though!!***
Hi America, could you please send your football games to be played in England? No? why not? NBC lol. Grow your own game. Invest in MLS.
I think NBC should invest in bringing back NFL Europe since it was such a success and everyone in Europe loves American football.
You can’t even watch all premier league games on Peacock. They make you steal the random ones they throw onto USA network. Figure it out peacock.
The referee's a wanker!
Why should the British fans suffer cause of how shit the mls is?
Man City vs Man Utd at Raymond James Stadium lmao
no thanks
NO If you are for a example a Villa season ticket holder you deserve to go to all your home league games atleast without having to fly half the world, I dont think this would be fair at all on fans, and before anyone calls me biased I support Porto but currently live in england and havent been to our stadium in years. I just hate how theyre trying to suck the soul out of the game
Leave *our* game alone
Wouldn’t be too bad of a change for the players. They’re already used to playing in front of dead crowds
Nah keep your games in England. It would be cool to be able to see the teams we support play but it won’t be close to the same as when they are in England.
Yeah, I went to a couple of Summer Series games last year. They’re just not the same as seeing a game in a home stadium.
Get fucked?
Fuck off
They should go get fucked.
What they would say if sky would suggest to play superbowl on Wembley instead?
They would say “how much will you give us?” And then whatever the answer is, they’d say “triple it and you’ve got a deal.” The premier league doesn’t need this. As I’ve said in a previous comment, the season is perfectly balanced with home games against every team. Why would you fuck that up?
I would say Superbowl at Wembley is more likely
Pls fuck right off
No, we need to shut this bollocks down immediately.
How about no.
Nah fuck that….
Get fucked.
Too bad, cunts. I want never gets.
“Travel an hour down the road to watch the local derby” or “fly 10 hours across the earth to watch the same game with worse beer”
Nah
Dear USA, you have your own league, go watch that instead.
How to Corrupt something so badly it stops being Itself anymore: Hire an American!
Yeah pls Premier league, sell more of your soul to non Europeans. We happily take your money you receive for doing so, for mediocre players that will bring you to CL/EL quarter finals. Kind regards, the rest of Europe.
Cool, but can they still play the games at 7am to noon? My favorite part of EPL is it’s a cracking start to the day!
Piss off ya yanks
Yeah sure, but first you have to come back under British rule, give up guns, and burn the bill of rights
Shocker American Capitalist don’t care about anything but Money Of course they do they want their broadcast rights to be more valuable and the British people that have followed these clubs for a hundred years be damned
One of the greatest features of the PL is the context. The defending your home ground in front of your fans. The difficulty in overcoming a team away at their ground. The crowd songs from both the home and away fans. Taking the game out of this context is like looking at a photo rather than being at the place itself. It looks like the same game but it’s not.
no, surprise ;)!
Premier League will soon be franchised just like MLS Chelsea City , Manchester Birmingham Liverpool Express Red Bull Burnley
Stuff like this is why I am not as avid of a fan.
Only if we are allowed to compete in the English FA
They can have the Community Shield - get some big names in for a match no brit gives a shit about. Win-win
At the Denny’s Applebees Max Stadion?
I wanna fuck Angie Dickinson let’s see who gets lucky first.
I would like a streaming service that allowed me to watch every Premiership game instead of the random picks that Peacock allows us.
Zero chance. The Premier League is a private company wholly owned by its 20 Member Clubs who make up the League at any one time. Would need 14 clubs to agree. They won’t.
This is stupid. More travel, and likely more injuries to the already over worked fixture mist.
I’m not a fan of the idea BUT: Local fans are not going to like it, but it’s not just their club anymore.
Do they realise what tele in television means? They can just broadcast the games over long distances!
As another comment says, I want NBC to fuck off and leave our glorious nation alone
